    Beady Eyed Cretins Unite

Post by Jim on Sun Jul 30, 2017 9:51 pm

    July 29th, 5:53PM

Jim turns toward the main hallway, his tail whipping back and forth in agitation. The floor sparks as his fifth appendage lashes at the concrete under him. Where in the world did that damn drone go? Why is he even worried? Wait, yeah! Why is he worried about that little ass? Oh. He's mostly furious because he just up and left in the middle of some serious salvaging work. The four extra drones he constructed whiz about the place, taking the compacted ore and plastics to their  resource's area inside manufacturing room. All the arms and automated fabrication machines have been scrapped and scanned, using whatever knowledge between Jim and Cole to make the parts they need. But, it's slow going. They need more manpower, and the simple drones they have floating around (half the size of Cole, with only one set of servos for transportation and small construction) won't cut it anymore.

Walking into Area 1, he catches the little drone as he closes the door, being oh so careful not to make noise.

    "Spill it, fucko."

Cole turns around, his "shoulders" shrugging as he floats on.

Jim blinks unmoving as the drone floats past his face and on toward a bench of parts where he beeps a happy tune as he picks up some trash.

"You know, I didn't give your voice back so you could give me the fuckin' silent treatment."

Anjeet held up the map that Cole had so generously given her, reading it intently as she traversed the desert. On her way to the dome, the alien could not stop herself from pausing a moment to play in the sand. She knew that time was of the essence, but the Jawa simply could not help herself. This desert felt like home. Well, not entirely, but it was definitely close.

As her claw-like nails etched drawings into the sand below her, Anjeet remembered why she was out in this desert in the first place. Reluctantly, the alien erased the drawings with her foot and continued on. Eventually, she could see the Tech-Dome in the distance. Hopefully it wouldn't turn out to be a mirage! Wouldn't that just be the most terrible thing?

Thankfully it wasn't a mirage. Anjeet reached out and was able to touch it just fine. Now to find Jim. The tiny alien idly wondered if Jim could even speak her language. Cole definitely seemed to be able to, though. As such, she really hoped that the droid would also be here. From behind a closed door, the Jawa could hear a muffled voice. Though muffled, she was still able to recognize it as Jim's. Oh yes, she was definitely in the right place.

    Knock knock!

What did he have to do to just have some normal AIs pop out of his creations? Huh? HUH? Jim sighs, a bit half-hearted, and he turns toward the desk in the corner of the larger room. His plan computer alight with four screens in a square formation. Well, at least he's being less talkative. That's one headache out of the way. The cyborg looks into the assembly room, piles upon piles of crated salvage needed to be sifted through, labeled, and sorted. Such a menial task. His hands involuntarily drift to his face and he rubs his cheeks.

Maybe this was a bit too much of a project, eh? Too much to worry about all at once. Though, Jim has always thrived under pressure, but that hasn't made him feel better. Where are all the subordinates? WHER-

    Knock knock!

Sensors outside picked up the small humanoid creature.

Outside, Anjeet would see the door light up as a camera turns toward her. A small orbital sphere model floating out of a compartment about twenty feet up. The doors being so very large dwarf the Jawa, the camera drone floats down to eye level and does a full body scan.

Jim, inside, takes a rushed step toward the door. Cole turns toward the entrance and sideglances Jim as they meet eyes.

"What did you do, you lil' shit?"

Cole bolts, as does Jim. From outside there seems to be a loud POP as they collide before the door. Jim pushing the drone away from his face and pressing the open button on the door controls. One of the dual automatic doors slides to the right. It stops just enough to allow entry.

Jim takes a step forward into the evening light, his chestplate removed for the day, he wears a grey military tank-top and some darker drawstring pajama pants. His cybernetic feet are bare.

"Who the hell-r-you, bright ey-" Is all he can get out as he crosses his arms, because Cole pops into vision, all arms spread in elation.

"Anjeet the Jawa! Glad to see you are on time! Come right in! Don't mind the Doctor, he isn't a people person." Cole floats to the Jawa's side, motioning to come in as the door opens wider.

Jim blinks, a bit slack jawed.

Anjeet jumped a little as the camera drone appeared before her, but froze when she realized exactly what it must be doing. It appeared to be scanning her. The alien could only guess that moving around too much would mess up whatever data it gathered on her. She scratched behind her head idly once it was finished. Was Jim alright in there? It really felt like her should have come out to meet her by-

    POP!

Again, the Jawa flinched, the culprit this time being a sudden loud noise coming from behind the door. What was going on in there?! Eventually, both Jim and Cole came into view. The tiny alien immediately noticed that Jim seemed to be in his pajamas. Perhaps she had woken him up? It was a bit of an odd hour to be sleeping, though.

"Hello!" Anjeet greeted them with a little wave. "Anjeet here about that job Cole speak of."

Jim's tail flicks, uncomfortable with the situation. He turns his eye toward the Jawa and leans downwards toward her face. The cybernetic eye on his left widens, becoming dark and then scanning outwards in a fan of holographic light. He stands back up, unaware and uncaring of how rude it might have been, and pulls out a holopad of his own. Ticking away at the numbers he ignores Anjeet and Cole, turning toward the production room in the back and walking off. His metal feet clanking like high heels across the concrete.

Cole, however, stays by Anjeet's side, turning his eye to her and gesturing inside. "Come in, come in, Miss Anjeet! I will show you around!"

If the Jawa would walk in, the automatic doors would close behind her with a soft sliding noise of metal on oiled metal. Beyond that, They were in a large auditorium-like room. Mostly filled with crate upon crate of scrap metal, plastic, and unscanned technology. In the center, there is what looks like a tech firepit ten feet in diameter. Small arms bringing hologram tech into view. Blueprints for many things, including vehicles, weapons, and... metal people. Droids to the eyes of the Jawa.

There are a few workstations and a set of stairs up to a brightly lit control room. The whole floor lit by mercury vapor lamps about 2 stories up. In the back of the room is another set of double doors, closed by Jim as he walks in. Inside, if one were to catch a glimpse, was another slew of unknown technology.

Cole turns toward Anjeet, two sets of servos clapping together excitedly. "Okay then! This is the current storage area, though it will eventually be cleared out! That is one of your jobs, along with mine of course- I wouldn't leave all the work for you! We are nearly finished with the foundry and forge. The only thing we need to make is the fabrication station. We've been working with only the mobile fabricator units Dr. Watkins and I have integrated in our systems! Haha! Quite amazing that we've gotten this far!" As he speaks, a group of four other drones, smaller than Cole but similar in design, float around carrying pieces and fabricating small parts as they bring them toward the forge and foundry along the wall to the right of the entrance. The large machine towering over the Jawa.

Anjeet froze, stopping her head mid tilt as it became clear that Jim was scanning her. She looked up at him once he was finished, awaiting a greeting or any kind of response, but neither of those ever came. After putting in some information on a holopad, the cyborg simply turned tail and left. The Jawa was very noticeably bothered by this, now wondering if maybe she shouldn't be here after all.

Cole, on the other hand, retained his enthusiasm at her presence. The drone even offered to show her around, to which she nodded enthusiastically in response. Ever see a Jawa get overstimulated? Well Cole was certainly about to! In this moment, the tiny alien had absolutely no clue what to do with herself. Her eyes darted rapidly to take in everything in these amazing surroundings. Resisting the urge to rub her little mitts all over everything was nothing short of painful. Eventually, something in here was going to be touched. That was a guarantee!

"So..." the alien began, looking up to admire the massive machine that towered over her. She was almost at a loss for words. "Cole saying that Anjeet will work with all of this?"

Jim walks toward the smaller door inside the project room. Inside is a small kitchen with a table and two chairs, a fridge, and a microwave. None of which matches. His eyes scrunched up in a permanent sneer, he scrolls along the datapad until his scan completes. All information on the small creature shows up. Weaknesses, organ breakdown, anatomy, et cetera. Turning his head toward the fridge he picks out a beer, holding the datapad in one hand. The cyborg pops the cap with his metal thumb and takes a swig of the red ale as he looks over the new entry.

    SYSTEM: "Jawa" Anjeet

Small stature, but very enduring skin and dexterous potential within upper digits. His eyes narrow. Jim takes another swig, his tail whipping against the linoleum. He sighs, tapping on the datapad with the beer bottle in hand. He is going to have to play nice, even though he really RREALLLLY doesn't want to. There's another thing in his space that he isn't comfortable with and he wishes to lash out until it goes away. BUT! Currently he is down on manpower. He has nothing but time, but he's sure the Pantheos are not very happy in their current state. Jim sighs. Alright all-RIIGHT.

"Score one for little floating fucker." He breathes as he opens the fridge again, pulling out a can before walking out to the main room. His metal feet clacking loudly in some form of mild agitation as he makes his way over to the two of them as Anjeet asks a question

Little robed fuzzball wrote:"Cole saying that Anjeet will work with all of this?"

Jim snaps his tail on the ground, making a sharp clack of metal on concrete as he tosses a can to Anjeet. It's got a pretty little Cactuar on it, inside is guava and prickly pear juice. Jim's got a thing for fruit.

"Think fast Anjie." he stands before the two of them, between the Jawa and the half complete forge. Which is slightly glowing with veins of cyan godsense power as each little drone places and welds another piece on it. Jim's had it just about up to here with Cole having control of the situation."Well, not everything, grub-nails. Your main job will be to salvage and survey parts as they are fabricated. You will help us assemble other machines and drones to complete our job, so you will have your hands in a majority of our robotics. And from there... well. That's to be seen. The first project right now is to get our friends out of code and into suitable bodies. Got it?" The cyborg opens up his datapad as an alert shows, but he dismisses it. His attention is directly on his new worker.

    SYSTEM:
-Witticism: See? Being a decent person is easy.

Jim fights to roll his eyes at his own HUD.

As Jim spoke, Cole tried his best to interject, but the good doctor did such a thorough and simplified explanation he had hardly the time to pipe up. Instead he put his servos on his metaphorical "hips" and looked back to Anjeet. The drone nods, his eye curved upwards with enthusiasm. Cole was beyond happy to see Anjeet overstimulated and nearly speechless. The little Drone happy to make anyone (other than Jim) happy!

Cole holds out one small servo in a shake-hands fashion.

"So what do you say, Anjeet the Jawa?"

Anjeet stiffens, staring in a completely dumbfounded manner at the soda can in her hand. The Jawa seemed surprised that she was even able to catch it, considering the speed in which it was tossed her way. It was a good thing that she did catch it. Bad things happen when you drop a soda. She briefly inspected the information on the can. Guava and prickly pear, sounded good enough, and the dancing cactus on the front was pretty cute, too. Was it even dancing at all, though? No matter, it was cute regardless.

The fuzzy alien lowered her hood, giving Jim an even clearer view of what exactly was underneath. Atop Anjeet's head was a mop of unkempt black hair that matched her fur, and her face was very vaguely humanoid, bearing some particularly rodent-like features. For one, her prominent incisors made it look like it would really hurt if she bit you. Her eyes also appeared to be very large, and very yellow. She has a very noticeable squint, too. Perhaps her eyes were sensitive to the light? Needless to say, other than a few cute freckles, she didn't really have the most flattering mug out there.

The reason Anjeet lowered became apparent as a sharp, sturdy nail dug itself under the cap of the soda can and promptly lifted it. Ah, that fizz, such a satisfying sound! As she enjoyed her soda, the alien listened intently to what Jim had to say about the exact details of what she would be doing here, nodding as he went on. Fortunately for the cyborg, it made a perfect amount of sense to her.

"Mhmm!" she replied to Jim before turning to face Cole again, reaching an arm out to accept his handshake. "Anjeet accept this job, not disappoint new bosses!"
