Olabisi let out a happy gasp as Nyreena finally took the stage. The bandaged alien had really been looking forward to whatever she had in store for the crowd this year. She really enjoyed her dance last year. Of course, the mummy was not disappointed in the slightest. In fact, this was actually a major step up from Nyreena's last performance! She demonstrated abilities that Olabisi did not know that she had, and they really made her routine. It actually gave the Thep Khufan an idea. She would certainly have to run it by her later.

The alien was still applauding as the next person took the stage. She introduced herself to the crowd as Korra, and apparently possessed some elemental abilities that were really important where she came from. Indeed, her demonstration was really cool. Olabisi could easily see why Korra was such a big deal in her home world! She created quite the spectacle to behold! The fire made her a little nervous, but that was okay. It was still really cool to look at!

And here comes a nice round of applause for Avatar Korra!

    "I DIDN'T ASK FOR THIS!"

Well, that certainly stood out as far as reactions go. Craning his head, Mitchell snuck a peek at a nearby table, one that belonged to a very fluffy catwoman. Aah, the robot singer had joined her since then and...was now hiding underneath the table of food. By the time Nyreena went on to perform, the android was still hiding away as best he could! Oof, he really must have been spooked by those horses... Of course, Minion's experience with robots was...limited. Megamind's creations had a very distinctly animalistic nature to them. This singing robot was different! He was a lot more human. The feline manning the table put up a little sign and joined the robot on the floor, which earned a little smile from Minion before he respectfully averted his eyes. At least that android had someone to reassure him!

Next to take the stage was a young woman that Minion was unfamiliar with! He noted with no small amount of guilt that that seemed to be a common thing for himself. All the more reason to pay attention. The dark skinned young woman introduced herself as Korra, speaking of some...innate ability to 'bend' elements in her universe. Bend them how? A brow arched quizzically as she explained further, that she had the ability to bend all four elements! The fish wisely kept his mouth shut, to keep himself from bringing up wood or metal. In some cultures, they were considered elements as well! But, uh, obviously that wasn't the point of this. Sneaking himself another shrimp, Minion watched with interest as the young lady pulled water out of some sack she had on her person. It followed every movement of her hands, almost unnatural! Aah, so it was some sort of telekinesis! Metro Man had flight, super strength and super speed, and even laser eyes! Yet, he didn't possess any sort of telekinesis! His interest was gained even more as she did a few tricks, most interesting of which was pulling water from the moisture in the air and allowing it to freeze over her fingers. The element of change indeed! As those icicles pierced the bark of a tree, he raised both hands and let out a modest clap before quieting down once again.

After taking a very odd stance on the stage, the woman levitated a block of earth onto the stage and demonstrated her strength by striking it with her arm! The rock crumbled into smaller stones, proving her lesson on being stronger than the earth in order to bend it, true! Impressive. Within his tank, the fish alien wriggled his fins thoughtfully. His own robotic arms could smash the rock, but his fins? Not a chance. A single stone was picked up, and Korra rubbed it between her hands in a rather odd display. When she unfolded them, she revealed a lovely stone flower to the crowd! Oh, she must have carved it herself! The flower was floated out into the crowd, Minion couldn't quite see who the lucky recipient was, but it must have been a romantic gesture from the way Korra acted. Again, he let out a quiet applause with a toothy grin. How sweet! Every bit of rock was sent back to wherever it had come from, which left fire for the young woman to show off! And boy did she! While she had to call upon the other elements, fire was different as she seemed to create it out of thin air! As he watched the show, the alien thought to himself in an attempt to make sense of these abilities. The fire generating seemed to come solely from her hands. Maybe there was a reason for that? His lips pursed thoughtfully, but he still found the little show entertaining!

She capped it off with something that completely shattered his little hypothesis, as the young woman literally breathed fire. It roared over the crowd, disappearing into the air once she had closed her mouth, and Minion could only gawk. Once he realized the audience was clapping, Minion eagerly joined in with his own firm claps! Goodness, what an ability that was! The young woman bowed before she returned to her seat, and he continued to clap until she had disappeared among the rows of chairs. What a day! The last part of her act had reminded him of the fire dance that occurred last year. Who knew what kind of acts they would have to look forward to next year?

As she came off of the stage and heard all of the applause that she had received Nyreena felt so humbled that what she had planned had impressed them so much. And to be quite fair summoning and creating those illusions took a lot of energy for her to do and with the fusion choreography that she came up with and shapeshifting into her costume she was severely wiped out from all of that. When Dominick gave her a proud hug for what she did she smiled and hugging him back she sagged a little bit in his grip and returned, [color=#B2FFFF]Thank you, Dominick. I'm so glad you liked it. And apparently everyone else really liked it, too."

Sitting down next to him and getting comfortable she watched as Korra took the stage for her routine, explaining before she started who she was and what her world was like. Seeing her start with water first the ghostly woman was rather amazed at what could be done with water and how much of a powerful force it was. Then when she moved to earth and studied how she moved she understood how much more powerful you had to be than the earth itself in order to bend it. Watching her make the rock rose for Bailey she smiled at that, thinking that that was a great token of affection. Then came the last element, one she knew very, very well. The element of fire, the element of power as Korra put it. Knowing that to be true she glaced down at her hand then placing it on her chest as she watched the Avatar bend her own fire, even breath it right of her mouth. Quickly getting interested in that she had to ask Korrra how to do that so she could do that in the future.

Seeing that Korra was finished she applauded for a very wonderful performance, happy that she left her fire out of her perfomance so that she wouldn't have upstaged the Avatar. Man, all the acts tonight so far had made the show ten times more awesome than last year's. And it was even more awesome that she had someone special to see it with and see her perform.

Still feeling so proud of her whe she had sagged in his grip a bit Dominick quickly grew a bit concerned for her and quickly took in her scent and felt that her energy level was quite low he gently smiled figuring that with what she did during her performance it made perfect sense. Smiling a bit more he told her, "You're quite welcome, love. And of course I did. Everything about it was absolutely amazing. The way you were able to pull that off with those illusions and your choreography it's no wonder that everyone was giving you such great applause. Along with my standing ovation. You truly deserved it."

Helping her back to their seats he helped her sit down next to him and held her in his arms so that she would be comfortable as she rested he watched as the next act took the stage, a girl that he had seen maybe once or twice when he went to the Sanctuary. Listening to her introduction he found it rather interesting of how her world worked and what her responsibilities were as this Avatar. Seeing that this was going to be a demonstration for the three elements that she could bend he was interested to see what she could do.

Watching as she went with water as her first element to demonstrate he studied it carefully to see how the technique worked and was a bit surprised when he saw the talons actually strike into the tree they were thrown at. Then as Korra moved onto the earth element he saw how the tough and solid stances she took was able to put the earth she bent under her command and move to her will. Noticing that she had taken a bit of the earth and made it into a stone rose, being it over to the little Bailey girl, he gently smiled at the sign of affection. Which made him think of something that he had to get out from under the stage once things were over with. Then as the last element, fire, was being demonstrated he looked down at Nyreena as she watched with great interest he kissed the side of her head and watched as Korra literally breathed fire from her mouth.

As she concluded her demonstration he applauded with Nyreena for a job well done, finding the demonstration very enlightening, entertaining, and educational at the same time.

Bailey looked at Korra, taking comfort in the weight of the Avatar’s arm around her shoulders. It was a pleasure, a gift in a way, to be able to see Korra grin and act so casual with her.  It felt special to the possessed woman. Really, really special. At Korra’s sudden exclamation, Bailey blinked before bringing her hands up to playfully shoo away her girlfriend. ”Go, go!” She couldn’t help her smile even though Korra was leaving her side. How could she mind that when her cheeks were still growing ever-more red from the quick kiss to her face? There was no way.  Bailey sat up higher in her seat, eager to keep Korra within her sight and even more eager to see the performance. Finally, the great answer to all of her wonderings this past week! She was looking forward to seeing her girlfriend perform and her warm smile towards the woman hopefully conveyed that.  She met Korra’s eyes as the Southern Water Tribe woman glanced over the crowd. With a mouthed “good luck!”, Bailey offered two thumbs up to her as she stood upon the stage. Bailey didn’t doubt that the show would be amazing, not even for a moment. How could it not be? It was Korra!

Bailey listened as Korra prefaced her demonstration with a short description. She already knew the information from their many, many quiet conversations over dinner and during time spent along with one another (and their animal companions). Still! It was important, she didn’t know if Korra’s world was common knowledge or not. Regardless, she was confident that even those who knew about her bending would be impressed.

And finally, the bending begun! With familiar swirling movements, Korra took the water from her bag and performed aquabatics (it occurred too her that it might not be an actual word), moving it around beautifully before returning it. Then, with one of Bailey’s favorite moves, Korra pulled water from the atmosphere itself! The redhead clasped her hands together with wide and bright eyes as she watched her girlfriend. When the icy projectile drove into a nearby tree, Bailey could hardly suppress (she didn’t really try) the whoop of excitement that escaped her. ”So cool!” She clapped, then clasped her hands together before her mouth as a smile refused to leave it. Her girlfriend was the coolest, the coolest ever. The most cool. Ice-Cold. 0 Kelvin. Super-cool.

The most cool. So cool that she can literally just make ice and WOW SHE NEEDS TO GET BACK TO PAYING ATTENTION.  Bailey’s eyes traced the lines of Korra’s body as she switched to earthbending, mind keeping track of muscles the path of force that it looked to be mimicking. She once again couldn’t help a small noise of awe as Korra explained the differences. She was just so amazing. Bailey had always thought that she was amazing, but when she was bending it was a different kind of amazing! Korra could switch so easily between the elements, move herself from one mindset to the next while still remaining her.  It was just another beautiful thing about the Avatar. And she was such a good teacher! Even though Bailey had asked so many questions about bending during their conversations, it was still fantastic to hear it all again.  Bailey watched with rapt attention as Korra broke the rock apart, turning it into rubble right there on the stage! The redhead then turned her head to the side with a curious frown when Korra picked up a smaller rock and held it in her hand. …for somebody else? What? (a deeper part of Bailey immediately started to squeal in excitement, but that part was ignored JUST IN CASE it was wrong. That’d be embarrassing) Korra pushed her hands together, rubbing it as sand and dust spilled away from her hands. When her hands opened, it was…

”Oh my gosh...” The certain redhead looked at the stone flower being floated towards her. She reached her hands out to take it from the air, feeling the weight of the stone being transferred away from Korra’s control as it came to rest within her palms. She brought it down, looking at it before turning her gaze once more to Korra just in time to capture the mouthed words. Bailey’s fingertips traced the stone petals as a great bubble of warmth rose up in her chest. Her lips traced out “I love you, too” to the Avatar as she held the gift to her chest. She felt, in that moment, that she would want to treasure it forever.

Her grip held onto the flower as it rested against her flesh, attention split between it and the rest of the show. Bailey’s smile was less excited now, but no less warm. The manic awe from before had been simmered down to a steady, intense affection for the performer. She watched Korra lit up the audience with flames, pulling them from within herself and creating a dazzling display! Bailey watched, enraptured with both the show and the one making it. With the final burst of fire from Korra’s mouth, Bailey jumped up from her seat (after setting the food to the side) and let out a cheer, clapping enthusiastically. She stood standing without a single thought to the view of anyone behind her, only thinking to sit down once Korra approached. The woman waited with a great big smile, just until the moment that Korra sat down. ”You were amazing! Are amazing! Super-cool!” With her stone flower tucked against her abdomen as though it were a great treasure, Bailey pushed herself forward to Korra until she was able to place a quick, but no less meaningful, kiss upon the Avatar. She pulled back, cheeks red and hot before murmuring softly to Korra. ”I love you a lot, yanno?”

"Poor mi vefo...~ I'll stay with you until you feel better!"

    Just according to keikaku*.

A schemer (and a scoundrel) to the bitter end, there were no objections out of the android as Lunette snuggled beside him. "Aw, my hero~!" And heroes deserved a reward; in this case, a generous handful of feather-light kisses across the Anitra's fuzzy face. "Mwah, mwah, mwah~!" Scaramouch gently cupped Lunette's head in those gigantic, metal mitts of his, any errant patch of fur smoothed with careful strokes. "Are ya enjoyin' the show, Lu?" he asked, smiling. "Those horses were somethin' else! ...A lil' spooky, but I appreciated their artistic showmanship." Or, would that be showhorseship? Eh! The semantics can be debated another time. Right now, there was a certain pretty kitty who demanded all of the android's concentration! Eat your spark out, Knock Out, babe, 'cause five minutes was plenty enough time for worship.

In all honesty, most of Scaramouch's processes remained focused on Lunette; stroking her lovely hair, scratching behind her kitty ears, holding one of her tiny hands... He even gave the smaller Anitra a tiny squeeze while happily keeping her close. Everything else, like the talent show happening behind them and hearing the 'oohs' and 'ahhs' of the crowd, had been put on the figurative back burner. Sorry, but worshiping was serious business! "I think comin' out to this hootenanny was a ducky idea! Y'know, we should really do this again..."

Though it was great fun seeing folks having a great time and mingling in a positive community-sense, that wasn't really why Scaramouch loved tonight's festivities. And it didn't take a rocket scientist to solve this caper, either.

    Purr, purr, purr...

    Hear that? Listen again, closely.

    Purr, purr, purr...

Yes indeedy, that was the sound of one extremely content kitty. Her smile, the glistening delight in her beautiful blue eyes, the way she spaced out and went to a happier, probably super fluffy place... It really brought a surge of joy to the android's new battery, seeing Lunette just so darn cheerful. While the Anitra may playfully swat his arm and paw at his face for being so saccharine (and not in the typical, sycophantic way he was known for), Lunette really did look her best whenever she smiled and squinted those cute, kitty cat eyes of hers. ...Gah! If Scaramouch thought about her and nothing else, he'd be purposefully ignoring the rest of tonight's acts! Which, selfishly, wouldn't be a bad thing, but... Reluctant, the android shifted his cyan optics off of Lunette and was just in time to catch Korra take the stage. "Ooh, looks like we're about to observe an aspirin' Captain Planet~! I wonder if she can bend hearts...?" That would be pretty neat to see, not going to lie. Gross but neat!

”H-hello everyone! My name is Korra and I’m very happy to be here. I never got to see the talent show last year so it means a lot to be here today!”

Aw, precious... Baby's first major performance. Korra may not see it, but the android was waving his silk handkerchief in support, and soon a light gasp escaped his slender throat. "Looook, Lu! She's bendin' water like it's nothin'! AND NOW THERE'S A FLOATIN' ICICLE OF DEATH, WHAT?" How!? This went against the very nature of physics! Then again, so was a scatting robot who manipulated sound... but let's not talk about that! Let's keep talking about Korra, who skillfully popped a squat on stage! "Oh, that's flattering..." Scaramouch didn't bother covering up his synthesized chortles. "She looks like she's about to drop a - WHOA!! THAT'S A FLOATING ROCK. THAT'S A BIG FLOATING ROCK. LU, I BET THAT THING IS AS HEAVY AS YOU!" His almonds were officially activated and on a higher plane of existence. Ironic, considering he could levitate gigantic pieces of earth. "How is she doin' that...?" he asked, gobsmacked. His scanners detected no magic or demonic shenanigans, so... could it be that Korra really did hold sway over the very elements of life itself? "Psssh!" Scaramouch clicked his tongue while flicking a dainty wrist. "Givin' all that power to a young blockhead like Korra? Man, I'd hate to piss her off~!" OH, BUT THAT STONE FLOWER AND KORRA'S SILENT ADMISSION OF HER UNDYING LOVE FOR BAILEY. AND THEN BAILEY REPEATED THOSE SAME WORAGHLGHLAGLHGLG!

The tiniest of squeals - the tiniest - escaped the android as his optics sparkled. "M-My OTP...~!" Scaramouch squeaked. A thousand thoughts raced in his processors, but one stood out above all the rest (minus another): Don't scream, don't scream, you're going to embarrass the girls, don't scream...! Damn it, staying quiet had never been Scaramouch's strength, but Ginger Mocha was worth it! So, so worth it!

It wasn't easy, but the android managed to bite his metal lip and keep mum. Well, sorta... He reached over and tightly wrapped Lunette in a warm embrace, circuits pleased as punch. "The sight of lovers feedeth those in love~!"

    Cue the gentle, smitten sigh!

Ack~! A bombardment of kisses greeted Lunette once she made herself comfortable underneath the table, her fur fluffing up a bit as she let out a happy chirp! Ahh, that smooth and cool metal hand stroked her fur, and it felt wonderful considering the heat the feline endured earlier while setting things up. Even in the evening, sometimes the heat was just so oppressive. "Mmhm~ I like it a lot! I think it's even better than last year~!" Gee, wonder why that could be? As for the horses, the Anitra nodded, nose scrunching into a smile, "they were! They're so big and cumbersome, I would imagine they'd have issues being so graceful, but..." She was proven wrong, the undead beasts showing lithe and expertise despite their large size. Mortis trained them quite well!

Snuggling closer, fur softly fluffing (particularly around her neck and chest), the Anitra gave Scaramouch a gentle peck on his gunmetal cheek. "I think it'll be a yearly thing! T-that'd be nice to join next year, b-but we'll see." Cue the curling, large fluffy tail wrapping around the two in a protective embrace. Lunette didn't have a lot of talents other than cooking and drink-mixing, but maybe... well. There's always next year!

Lunette couldn't help but cuddle Scaramouch, the big soft and gentle android making her feel so small, yet so large. Each kiss and touch didn't go without a squeaky chirp, the feline leaned into the metal hands and fingers. For a moment, it felt like neither of them were there, and were somewhere else--somewhere private and safe and away from everyone... until her ear twitched, Scaramouch pointing out that Korra was up next. A small frown appeared briefly along the feline's muzzle, but it was quickly dismissed and instead, she gave the android a hearty and gentle squeeze, and a small kiss on those metal lips as she adjusted herself to view the stage.

    Oh goodness!
Between Korra's demonstration of the elements from her world and Scaramouch's excited and adorable reaction, it was hard for Lunette not to snicker, her purr loud and vibrating against the metal plating. She'd leave the commentary to the excited and freaked-out android, while Lunette gazed at Korra, watching her abilities. They were somewhat similar to the elements on Ahn'Imret, but... they weren't as involved as what The Avatar performed. Her movements looked choreographed and far more elegant than the elemental summoners from home. The rock comment did not go unnoticed, but were pushed aside for the moment as she continued watching the young lady, clapping her hands once she was finished with her performance.

Ahh~! That rock flower! So cuuuuute~! The feline fluffed up happily, her chest warming at the sight of the two young ladies being all cute and adorable. Squeezing her companion tightly, Lunette's nose scrunched up as she chittered excitedly. Aw yiss~! And then Scaramouch snuggled her closer, making her fluff up more and squeak! "I'm so happy you got to be here with me today~!" Cue the nuzzling, the headbutting and the happy cat squint.

    Re: Another Year, Another Show!

Post by Kev on Wed Aug 02, 2017 11:27 am

Korra took the stage after Nyreena, giving a brief introduction of herself and what exactly her act would be. It was slightly different, and yet it reminded Kev of Mortis' own performance. Both educational, both involving a demonstration of sorts. Setting aside his empty cup, Kev crossed one leg over the other as he remained attentive to see what she would do! Admittedly, he was a little familiar with the young woman's specific talents. He had seen her in a fight, after all, but to see it on stage was different. Kind of...beautiful, actually! Every movement was with a purpose, each element moving as if it were a part of her body. And each element called for different stances, different disciplines. He almost wished he could see what air was like in comparison!

Each element had something of a 'hook' in their demonstration. Something special that really gained the audiences' awe. The ice daggers plunging into tree bark was fun, and the creation of a stone flower was quite beautiful. As it floated over his own head, Kev turned about in his chair to see the lucky recipient was none other than Bailey! He was unable to hold back a soft "Aaw...", and their mouthed 'I love you's only made it sweeter! Ah, young love. It warmed his scaly little heart to see it! The last little 'hook' of a demonstration had earned his intrigue most, watching as Korra literally breathed fire! Oh, it was seemingly impossible, yet amazing! The alien basked in the warmth of the flames, eyes wide as he watched them disappear into the air. As the young Avatar took her bows, Kev's hands clapped together along with the crowd. Applause rippled through the air, along with a few cheers. As Korra left, the stage remained empty. Was it the end already? But how could that be? Glancing down at his own lap, the scaly man counted the acts on his fingers. Scaramouch and Shai's duet, Mortis' tricks with the horses, Nyreena's dance/fight choreography, Korra's elemental demonstration... They were missing someone...! Diana! Turning about in his chair again, Kev's buggy eyes narrowed as he tried to pinpoint her pale face, green eyes, curly black hair and even her fanged smile. The search came up empty, as he found no sign of Miss Ridley. Reaching into a pocket, he pulled out the phone he'd left alone throughout the acts. It alerted him to three unread messages that he quickly tapped to read.

"Hello honey! It's Diana, I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to make it over there, seems I caught a summer cold so my voice is out of sorts"
"Hope everything went well! With love, Diana."
"P.S, am I doing the texting right?*"

"..." Oh... Well, that would certainly do it, wouldn't it? Placing the screen of the phone flat against his lap, he took a gander at the seats to his left and right. Where last year he had attended the show with his loving partner and sweet surrogate daughter, this year his only company had been his wooly niece. If they found out in time, the both of them could have come. Livewire would have enjoyed seeing her uncle's horses soar for sure. At least, she'd get to see that on her own. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. No time for that though. He was still the host of this little event, and people would start getting confused soon if he didn't speak up. Rising to a stand, he turned to face the crowd. Seeing all the people that had come together for this was already lifting his mood from the slight dip it had taken.

"And with that, the talent showcase has come to an end! We had fewer acts than we had last year, but I still think we enjoyed some amazing performances today! We got to see new tricks, and we had more food than ever this time! I'd like to try and make next year even better!" Moving to shove his phone into a pocket, Kev gestured with his free hand towards the food tables. "I'd like to give a shout out to the kind people who came here tonight to serve us such delicious food! Lunette served us samples from her menu at the Tavern! If you ever find yourself wanting more, I recommend checking her Tavern out! Amalan and Njorth helped barbeque us some great food as well, as did Mitchell Finnley! I would also like to give a shout out to Dominick and Scaramouch, who helped me to set everything up by doing some heavy lifting! And of course, who could forget the people who came out today to display their talents? Let's give them all a round of applause. Without them, this event wouldn't have been as great as it was!" Both hands clapped together heartily as he singled out each of their faces to give them a thankful nod. Once the applause had died down, he spoke up again. "You're all welcome to stay and talk with everybody, as well as enjoy any refreshments we may have left! Thank you all so much for coming tonight, and I hope I'll see you again next year!"

Only when attention had been taken off of himself, as people rose from their seats to make conversation, did he pull his phone back out. Staring at Diana's messages, Kev racked his brain to conjure up a response. As disappointing as it was that her lack of appearance meant Livewire and Fear had missed the show for nothing, he couldn't quite...blame her for it. Especially when she had gotten sick. Diana couldn't exactly help the reaction that Livewire had to seeing her after all. Neither could the young femme, really. The matter of Diana and Livewire was...a testy one. It was difficult to maneuver and maybe...maybe keeping the two of them apart like this wasn't the best thing to do. They couldn't quite keep the two of them apart forever. When you start avoiding somebody, the city becomes much smaller. What was their plan if the two ever did come across one another again? Fingers tapped across the buttons of his phone before the alien hit send. He didn't quite run to the crowd just yet, however. Kev only started to mingle once he had reached into the depths of his mind to offer kind words and affection to his lover. Rejoining his friends and gathering another cup of raspberry lemonade for himself, the scaly alien was determined to have a good time even if his family had not come out today. They would certainly make up for it next year.

"I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you feel better soon, Diana! Everything went spectacularly! It's a shame you couldn't come, but there's always next year. And yes, you are doing the texting right!"

((*Diana's texts were written by her rper and used with her permission! Thank you all for taking part in our second talent showcase! Everybody did an amazing job this year, from the reactions, to the performers, and even the food! It certainly makes me hungry. I want to thank you all for being patient throughout this thread! I hope that we can have a good time next year too! For now, you can either have your character mingle or consider this the end of the thread, it's all up to you!))
