"Oh hey," Njorth greeted the mummy. "I remember you being here last year. You stopped by my table then, too. What can I get for you?"

The Nord also remembered how Olabisi put mayonnaise on her hot dog. He still hasn't been quite able to get over that. Oh well. He had a weenie to grill, and the bandaged alien wanted it well done.

    "Coming right up!"

Just as the alchemist had put her weenie on the grill, Kev took to the stage to break in the evening's performers. After he left, a familiar feathery face and someone else he didn't recognize replaced him. Was this going to be a duet? He could only imagine just how explosive this year's performance was going to be now that he had another person performing with him.

And Njorth was absolutely right! Shaiamils and the robot harmonized perfectly. He could tell that they had rehearsed many times for this. Nothing could prepare the Nord, however, for that little interlude. Rose petals went everywhere. While they were lovely, some of them ended up landing on the grill. It was nothing his spatula couldn't handle, though. He clapped for a moment as the skin on Ola's hot dog blackened.

"What kind of bun would you like?" Njorth asked her.

Oh, him again. Amalan remembered Njorth talking about the doctor's last performance as they were setting everything up. If the alchemist's word was anything to go by, then he was definitely in for a treat with this one. And what a treat it was! Shaiamils and his partner sounded absolutely wonderful together. They both had such great voices. Though it was subtle, you could still easily see the Altmer swaying in place to the music.

And then came those rose petals.

They really were beautiful, but they got everywhere, Amalan's chicken teriyaki bowl included. Luckily, though, they were easily plucked out of his food. No harm done! Wow, the ground was absolutely covered in them. He idly wondered if they were going to have to help clean it up later. The elf supposed that he didn't mind, though. It was totally worth it for a performance as lovely as theirs. He sat his food aside to give them a brief round of applause.

    "Whoo!"

"Thank you, Njorth. I really appreciate it!" She turned to face Nyreena. "Hey there! Aren't you performing again this year?"

As Olabisi waited by the grill for her weenie, Kev started giving his opening speech. The mummy knew that Shaiamils and Scaramouch would take to the stage as she left, so she took out her phone in anticipation, ready to record. Sure enough, they followed almost immediately behind Kev. She started recording as the robot was about to give his own little opening speech.

Oh how the bandaged alien wanted to cheer for them during their performance, but as hard as it was, she still had to keep quiet if the wanted a good recording. This was just phenomenal! It was an even better performance that Shai's last one. He probably had Scaramouch to thank for that. But then something happened that Ola didn't remember the doctor ever bringing up.

Scaramouch released several satchels of rose petals all over the audience. It was amazing! The Thep Khufan couldn't wait for their act to be over. Not because their act was bad, it was great, but because she really wanted to chime in with some particularly loud applause. Shortly after the rose petals dropped, though, it was over, and Ola could finally let them know how she felt about their act.

    "Whoo, yeah! Bravo!! Whoooo!!!"

Oh, damn it. Njorth asked her what kind of bun she wanted. Unfortunately, her cheering was going to have to be cut short.

    "Sesame bun, please."

Post by Lunette on Sun Jul 09, 2017 6:49 pm

Hm~ Lunette had a special something up her sleeve for Scaramouch's performance, alright! But he'd just have to wait and see~!

It didn't take long once she had set up her table that an elven-looking fellow came around and helped himself. The Anitra gave him a friendly wave and "hello!" and let him collect his foods of choice. It didn't take long for others to arrive, Nyreena and Dominick walking up and greeting her and Scaramouch while taking a look at the foodstuffs available. "Hello you two~! Nice to see you guys out and about." The ghostly lady hadn't been to the Sanctuary in a bit--she was probably working hard on her outfit for the performance, perhaps! Lunette couldn't blame her... the Anitra would do all she could to perfect an outfit before a big show! "Huh?" Her attention turned to her partner, the android swiftly and gently tying his scarf around her dainty neck. The kiss was a surprise, Lunette letting out a quiet squeak, a small hue of red seeping through her silken furred cheeks. "Oh, I will~! See you soon, mi vefo...~"

Nose scrunched, her expression was happy and dazed until a small, furry little creature approached and greeted her. "H-huh? Oh! Hello Anjeet! Mochi went to get ready for the show, but you'll see him again soon!" Some food would probably help appease the little Jawa's attention span as Lunette handed her a small plate and a little bit of everything! "Why don't you try some of this in the meantime? It's very good, I promise~!" A gunmetal-tipped ear flicked as she heard her name called from the other end of the table, and turned in that direction to see a Korra approaching! "Hi!" Lunette waved and stepped forward, leaning over a bit with a big smile. "Of course, eat whatever you like! Can't wait to see your performance! I bet Bailey will be even more excited~!" A wink accompanied the small tease, but Lunette wouldn't bother Korra too much about it. Asking to grab Bailey an extra cup, the Anitra waved her hand dismissively, "no it's no trouble at all! You two relax and enjoy the shows~"

Soon, Kev stood up and addressed everyone, Lunette standing quietly and listening to the alien's speech, feeling proud of him. Why? Well... he brought people together! And even more so this year, she felt. Always trying to bring everyone together and in a happy and safe environment... it was so nice and considerate. Kev's words hit Lunette's soft spot, a tear welling up but she wiped it promptly, instead just smiling wider as her tail swayed and "wagged". Once finished, the alien received a round of applause, the Anitra clapping her hands loudly in sync with the others, and soon, the show would start. Instead of joining the crowd and sitting closer, she stayed near her table, the orange scarf around her neck idly being played with, wrapping around her hands and fingers as she fidgeted. Eyes focused on the stage, but kept glancing down to her purse on the ground, as if waiting for something...

    __________

Ahh, there they were! Shaiamils and--!!
Oh that cheeky, sneaky piece of metal!

The burning sensation in her chest and cheeks increased, red hues bursting through her white fur on her cheeks. Though she squinted, her face still held a coy smile. Oh yes, Scaramouch looked wonderful in that stupid and brilliant outfit! He knew what he was doing. He always did. Most of the time. Cocking her head to the side and rolling her eyes, Lunette watched closely, ears forward and focused on the duet. It would be a lie if she said her focus was on both of them, but truthfully, those sapphire eyes glistened and stuck onto the tall, slender android's figure and face moreso. It was hard not to! Such grace and foot work! It was like the two of them barely touched the ground at all! And to show off a bit more (not that she minded at all!), a shower of petals sprinkled along the masses, mostly those who were close by.

Now! Now would be a good time...
Lunette reached down to her purse and took a small, crumpled piece of cloth, wine colored in hue, and hid it in her hand. Eyes darted to the performers, pupils narrowing on her target! One... two... Fling! The cloth was thrown, blending in with the rose petals to a decent degree, but to the trained eye, some would notice some lace lining said cloth. It landed right beneath the android's smooth boots, and watched the rest of the performance with a face of red, and her fur fluffed up to a good degree. Lucky for her, this was in the evening and the heat wouldn't be much of a bother. The performance afterwards was still just as good as the first half, those blue eyes never faltering or breaking way until the very last note!

Applauding and whistling, Lunette's voice squeaked as she let out a high-pitched yet weak "woo~!" Boy, what a show! Taking note of Scaramouch collecting a few things, her smile turned to a less devious and more modest nature, eyes focusing on everyone else. There was a feeling of excitement in the back of her mind, ready to give her handsome metal-fella a hug and a kiss~!

Giving Lunette a warm smile at her greeting to them Nyreena replied, "Thanks, Lunette! It's good to see you, too! Have you been having a great time so far? Well, setting up your table might not be all fun but I'm sure that with Scaramouch it was." Giving Ola a confirming nod she answered, "I sure am! And this time I've really amped up the routine like never before. I can't wait for everyone to see it!"

Then hearing Kev make his opening announcement for the show she let out an agreeing cheer when he had mentioned of making this a regular tradition. She completely agreed on it and she definitely wanted to do this every year. Hearing him say that the show was about to start she gave a wave goodbye to Lunette and Ola then walked with Dominick over to an open pair of seats, sitting down beside him and quickly getting hyped for Shai's and Scaramouch's duet. Seeing Shai walk out in his ensemble she was so proud of Ola for doing another fabulous job. And of course Scaramouch was fabulous as ever in his get up. She was sure that Lunette was going head over heels at this point. When the duo started to sing in perfect harmony with one another it took a few moments for Nyreena to recognize the song and when she did she let out a light laugh, figuring that only they would pick this kind of song. But it was a wonderful song and she didn't have a single problem with that.

Lightly swaying to the beginning of the song she couldn't help but smile from ear to ear at how well they were doing then as they really got into the song she felt Dominick surround her in his arms and pulled her close. Letting out a shuddering sigh at that she leaned her head on his shoulder and felt the warmth from his body and his love seep into her making her feel like she was hovering without even needing to do it. As she watched she noticed something starting to fall into her line of vision and looking up she saw the petals flying down and was completely amazed by it. Now that was a really nice touch. Then when they waltzed together during that incredible guitar solo she thought it was totally awesome that they added that in to their performance. After they broke away and finished the song once more in perfect harmony she felt Dominick lift her head to face his and returned the light kiss he gave her then let out a few whoops and hollers of appreciation with her applause for their wonderful performance. She was definitely hyped to perform now, really wanting to make hers just as wonderful as this one.

Giving Lunette a nod Dominick waited for Nyreena to speak to her then chiming in he said, "A pleasure to see you as well, Ms. Lunette. I certainly hope that with all the hard work put into setting this up all the acts go off without a hitch." Squeezing Nyreena's arm a bit while he said that he had every confidence that his girl's performance would be spot-on with how she rehearsed it. Giving Ola a wave when he had seen her he listened to the two of them conversing about Nyreena's act with a light smile on his face. Looking over at Kev when he made his opening annoucement he nodded in agreement with the others that agreed to making this a regular tradition.

Since it was time for them to sit down he led the way over to a couple of seats that were open and let Nyreena sit down first before he did, getting him situated and waited for the first act to appear. Seeing that it was Shai and Scaramouch he had wondered what exactly they were going to be doing then as they started it made a lot of sense at that point. But the song that they chose to perform felt like it spoke to his heart and very being, making him see how by falling in love with the ghostly woman beside him was more than he ever thought would be possible. Wanting to hold onto her as the two sang he wrapped his arms around Nyreena pulled her close, smiling as she rested her head on his shoulder and let out a shuddering sigh at that. That was when the rose petals began to fall and looking up he smirked at the ingenious idea, really impressed that they thought of putting this into their performance.

Resting his head on hers he watched as Shai and Scaramouch danced a waltz together he got a crazy idea in his head and let out a wolf whistle at the two to show his support for the two. Then as the they sang the last part of the song that struck a certain chord within him that made everything that happened in his life up to that point make complete sense. Wanting to do something he slipped two fingers underneath Nyreena's chin and lifted her head up to face him and gave her a light kiss, feeling like everything was better than it ever had been. Pulling away he joined her in cheering for the two performers for a job well done.

A little gasp escaped Anjeet's throat. She chittered happily as Lunette handed her a little sampler plate. The Jawa sniffed every tidbit on the plate, very much loving what she was smelling. Yes, this would definitely satisfy her until the show started!

    "Thank you, Lulu!"

Another nearby table caught the little alien's attention as well. It was run by a strange human man that she didn't recognize. Whoever he was, she at least knew that his display looked delicious. Standing on her tip-toes, Anjeet grabbed a barbecue wing and two skewers. She lowered her hood and gave the wing a tiny, experimental lick. Oh yes, that was amazing!

    "Mmm~!"

As Anjeet bit into the scrumptious wing, her attention was grabbed by Kev. She could only guess that it must be an opening speech. At this point, her eyes were fixed on the stage. Sure enough, as soon as the scaly alien left the stage, Shaiamils and Scaramouch took his place. The Jawa almost dropped her wing when she saw the robot's outfit. Shai looked amazing too, of course, but by the stars, Scaramouch!

The both of them were singing such a beautiful song, too. The way they both harmonized together was just perfect. Wait, were those petals? There was no mistaking it. They were definitely petals! How pretty! A few of them landed in her food, but the alien didn't care at all. Out of curiosity, she took a bite of one of the rose petals. Huh. It tasted pretty okay, actually! Still, she was more focused on the actual food on her plate, and plucked the remaining petals out of it.

Aww, was it already over? But it felt like their performance had only just started! Anjeet sat her plate aside and clapped for them as hard as she could. She didn't stop until they were both completely off the stage. Were they off now? Alright, back to her plate! Hmm... The alien thought for a moment. Yes, she needed to tell them just how amazing they were in person! She scurried over the them, plate still in hand.

"Mochi and Shai amazing!" she complimented them. "Sing and dance really good. Anjeet love outfits!"

    Re: Another Year, Another Show!

Post by Minion on Tue Jul 11, 2017 6:52 am

Just as Minion was about to make his way to another table to grab some good, somebody else managed to snag his attention! It was a very small person, their body covered by a brown robe. The hood kept the face covered too, leaving what seemed to be a pair of bright yellow eyes to peek out. Huh. Now that was somebody he didn't recognize! Still, the human smiled at his guest and gently pushed the plate closer to the edge where they could reach. Before he could address the small person, he heard Kev speak up and declare that the show would be starting soon! "You might want to find a good seat so you can see. I was here last year, and it was a pretty fun show!" Mitchell spoke to the robed person with a toothy grin. With his table of goodies, he should perhaps stick near it as the rest of the people who'd brought food had, though maybe he could go and get some...sneak a bit of food into his container as well? It was getting harder to ignore the grumbling in his stomach!

With a polite nod to Anjeet, Mitchell stepped away from his table and stealthily crept his way over to Lunette's as Kev continued. He gave the feline a small wave as a greeting before he scooped himself a plate of bang bang shrimp and dumplings. The lemonade drinks looked quite nice as well, though for obvious reasons he left them be. Once satisfied with what he'd gathered, he nodded his head again to Lunette before shuffling back over to his table. It had been a little awkward, like an antisocial teenager sneaking out of his room at midnight to grab dinner, but Minion hadn't wanted to speak over Kev!

Mitchell returned just in time as the scaly man's speech came to an end and the gathered crowd applauded. He joined in, hands clapping together with the vaguest hint of a metallic sound. The grin on his face turned a bit awkward before focusing on the stage as two people stepped onto it. One, he recognized from last year instantly! It was the bird man who'd performed 'Pour Some Sugar on Me'! The other was a...surprisingly tall and skinny robot! The robot spoke with the stage presence of someone who was used to being on stage. He provided a small introduction before the music started and the two of them began to sing! This year's selection, Minion could again identify but Megamind had not been a big fan of Bon Jovi. Still, the charisma of the singers was more than enough to bring a smile to his face!

As he enjoyed the show, Minion took advantage of everybody's attention being focused on the stage to feed himself. Pinching a piece of shrimp between his fingers, he seemed to pat the top of his own head. The shrimp easily slid past the opening at the top of his tank, slowly sinking in the water before he snatched it into his mouth and chewed with all the drive of a starving man. "Ooooh mama, that is a good shrimp...!" A few more were consumed during the performance, along with some dumplings as Minion enjoyed the show! Particularly when the time came for the two to dance, and they suddenly rose into the air! His brown eyes narrowed, looking for the strings that had to be holding them up. Or any sign of rocket boosters or anti-gravity gizmos on the robot, but he found none! Huh...maybe it was like a magic trick?

Much like the sudden blanket of rose petals that enveloped everybody in the chairs! A few petals drifted close to the tables, and Mitchell batted them away from his food with an amused grin. It was hard to be annoyed when it fit with the song so well! As the song came winding down, the fish alien was surprised that neither of the performers dove into the crowd and thus into the bed of roses! The singers embrace each other in a hug, and Minion again joined the crowd in a round of applause and cheering! Even if he enjoyed last year's song more, he couldn't deny that the performance this time was fantastic! Perhaps even better than the bird man's last year! "Whoo-hoo! Encore!" He jokingly cheered, chuckling as he spied a few things being tossed up for the two of them. It may not have been a bouquet of roses, but it seems there were those in the audience who were quite elated by the song!

    Re: Another Year, Another Show!

Post by Bailey and Creamer on Tue Jul 11, 2017 9:15 pm

"Good afternoon, everybody! Or er, perhaps that would be...evening by now."

”Oh my GOSH what is wrong with me, it’s started!” Bailey sped up her shuffle significantly, working her legs faster and faster until she, finally, arrived at the scene. To think that she had nearly been late to the talent show! The heavily-breathing redhead came to slow as the chairs were finally nearby and the air was saturated with the scent of a very familiar Bang-Bangin’ dish. Just smelling that again brought a smile to her mouth. She’d have to give Lunette a big hug for that one.

Her eyes scanned those gathered as Kev continued to speak. Finally (it was really only a moment or two), Bailey spotted the familiar three-tailed hairstyle she had come to cherish. And the person that was wearing it. Really she cherished the whole package. The woman jogged forward, staying quiet as Kev finished up his speech. She sidled up beside Korra, offering Lunette a grin and a wave before smiling warmly at Korra. She didn’t say anything, rather instead bopping her hip affectionately against Korra’s own as Scaramouch and Shaiamils took to the stage. The woman clapped politely when Scaramouch prompted applause for Kev. And, really, he did deserve it! This looked like a whole event, with catering and everything! Just because things between her and the green alien were a little, ah…off, didn’t mean that he didn’t deserve his credit.

And then began the show. Bailey watched and listened in open awe at the snazzy outfits and snazzier vocals coming from the stage. They fit, well…they fit really good together! She hadn’t thought that Shai would be singing, hadn’t even known that they were performing together, but wow they were certainly doing that thing! The woman smiled brightly as she watched the duo dance together, still sounding amazing. And then, of course, there was a special touch! Bailey couldn’t help but smile and laugh quietly as the rose petals rained down on the crowd, doing a pretty damn good job of getting stuck to her. That’s what happens when you speed-walk, Bailey. You get a little sweaty and then get covered in rose petals. She should have seen that coming.

When the performance concluded, Bailey joined in the applause with great excitement. After vocalizing her enjoyment, she finally turned to her girlfriend (oh my god they were dating (it still caught her off guard sometimes)) and leaned in to give the Avatar a quick peck on the cheek. ”Sorry for being a little late. Ailbe was being a little fussy.”

And he wasn’t the only one. Off to the side, well away from any chance of rose petals was crouched a demon. All arms crossed as he looked towards the stage, eyes resting in a neutral position even as his shoulders were relaxed down. He hadn’t particularly wanted to come, no. But, to be fair, Bailey hadn’t given him much of a choice. With her charmed necklace on, Creamer had no good way to voice his complaints to her.

But even though he had spent the time before sulking and raising a fuss before finally just following after the woman, he was…not feeling entirely negative about the event. He assumed it would likely be the most entertaining thing he would seen in this shitty world. At least it was better than trying to stay behind with the Damned Dog, but not by much.

Bailey took up a plate herself and portioned out some of those tasty shrimps. ”Oh man, these look delicious! I’m so glad that you brought them, Lunette! Thanks!” She grinned happily at the woman before once more turning her attention to her girlfriend (AAAAAAAAAAAAAH) and nodding to the seats. ”Do you um, would you rather sit down or stay here? I’d be good with either.” She was pretty certain she’d get a good opportunity for some much-needed Korra Cuddles in both situations. She figured it would be more traditional to sit down, but at the same time Lunette was here! Decisions, decisions.

Despite the attention that her table had attracted, Lunette still found a moment to return Korra's greeting and even have a bit of small talk! "Thank you! All of this really does look delicious..." It made her want to make some return visits to the Tavern as well. It had been a great spot for her first date on the Breach! Primarily satisfied with the beef sliders and shrimp, the young woman decided to scoop a few dumplings onto her plate as well. The little potstickers smelled delicious and she figured Bailey might like them! Speaking of the redhead, the feline woman expressed her eagerness to see Korra's act, and pointed out that Bailey would be the most excited for it. Her cheeks darkened, the young Avatar avoiding eye contact shyly. "I hope she'll like it..." It wasn't as if she totally invited the other woman to see so that she could show off and maybe give her a gift. Nope! Not at all, totally not her intention. Korra was innocent. Permission given to pour a cup for Bailey, she easily tilted the pitcher and filled each plastic cup with refreshing strawberry lemonade! "Thanks again, Lunette! You enjoy the show too!" With Scaramouch performing, it was pretty much guaranteed!

With her plate piled up, the young Water Tribe woman could go ahead and grab a seat but... Korra's eyebrows furrowed, lips pursing in a pout. Where was Bailey? She couldn't just sit down without knowing if Bailey made it here or not! Electing to stand near Lunette's table and keep an eye out for the redhead, Korra grabbed a slider and began to munch on it right when the scaly alien stood up and began his speech! Bright blue eyes focused on him as he spoke, chewing contently on the beef and ignorant of her girlfriend's approach. Only when the speech ended and Shai and Scaramouch took the stage did she notice, as Bailey made her presence known quite sufficiently. A hip knocked against her own lightly, and Korra turned to see who had bumped into her. It was perhaps the best person to be bumped by! "Bailey, you made it!" She whispered harshly, before clapping as the robot on stage urged a little applause for Kev. With her slider in one hand, Korra's clapping was a little haphazard but she couldn't stop smiling at the redhead. As the music started, she grabbed a cup and held it towards her girlfriend.

Once Bailey had taken the cup, Korra wrapped her arm around the redhead's shoulders and leaned against her as they watched the duet. And what a duet it was! The song was lively, Shai and Scaramouch both sounded really nice together, and she couldn't help a quirked smile as the duo seemed to literally float on air as they danced! Oh, Uncle Mochi...that showoff. She would have done the same if she were in his position though! Maybe that was why they got along so well. Rose petals rained down upon them, a small chuckle escaping the young Avatar as she spotted her rose covered girlfriend out of the corner of her eye! Korra reached up and plucked a few off of Bailey with a little grin, focusing primarily on the petals that had become stuck to her face. Alas, the performance had eventually ended but the young woman seemed to jump up and down in place as she cheered loudly. "WHOO! GO UNCLE MOCHI! GO BIRD GUY!" What an amazing show! And to think she had missed this last year! A peck on the cheek again drew her attention off the stage, blushing brightly as she turned her head and smiled at the redhead. "Aaw, poor Ailbe...it's okay. You didn't miss a lot! I'm so glad you came." Her smile was pure, warm and filled with affection that took form in a small kiss on the cheek.

As her girlfriend began to pile her plate, Korra lightly gestured to the sliders. "Those are pretty good too, if you want some! A-and I grabbed us some dumplings to share!" She chuckled sheepishly, hoping she wasn't coming off too strong or anything...admittedly, she'd made her plate with the thought of sharing it with Bailey but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the other woman making her own plate! Especially since it meant she'd get to have even more shrimp! "I'd actually like to sit down, if that's alright. Just to get a little closer to the stage and rest a bit. You must be pretty tired from walking here." It'd be good to rest those dogs and she absolutely had no other reason to want Bailey to sit among the crowd, nope.

    Re: Another Year, Another Show!

Post by Kev on Wed Jul 12, 2017 8:41 am

Anticipation was rising within his scaly chest, both of his buggy eyes focused on the stage. Each of the acts for this year held great promise, Kev was confident that everyone was going to bring their best to the stage and really give it their all! His knees hopped in place lightly, eyes almost sparkling as the first two performers took the stage! Shai, decked out in black and in a jacket/tie combo that nearly made the alien gasp! The pants were definitely unique, but that jacket... And did he spy some glitter?~ Oh, and there was the one and only Scaramouch! The lanky robot looked like a country singer, with a very flattering shirt and pants that didn't leave much to the imagination! Of course, he knew exactly why the android had chosen an attire like that~! Lovely boots too!

"Firstly, before we begin, we'd like to thank everyone for comin' out here and showin' community support, and to Kev for once again puttin' this together. Let's hear it for Kev-Mak-Tarr!"

O-oh. Oh geez. If he possessed any actual ears, they'd be bright green and toasty warm! Alas, they would have to settle for an emerald faced Kev who gave a small wave and seemed quite humbled to receive such applause! It'd be a lie to say that it didn't feel nice. This talent showcase was proving to be an event that brought people together and created such joy... The citizens were grateful, his friends having a lovely time... What more could a Kev ask for? Scaly fingers worked their way through ebony wool, the alien quietly content as the music began. This year's choice was a lovely song, not nearly as bombastic as last year's but still a great choice! It was clear that the birdy man enjoyed having another presence on stage, voices intermingling and showing off how much the two had been practicing together! When it came time for a dance, Kev "Ooh!"ed and "Aah!ed as the duo floated on the very air itself! He knew the cause of it, of course, but it was no less impressive! A lovely little dance indeed, and then...rose petals began to rain down upon them all!

"Pfft!" Kev snorted softly, brushing the petals off of his clothes and even digging a few out of his cup! Wow, they had enough for fifty beds here! He picked a few off of Woolie's body as well, only stopping to slap his hands together in a firm applause once the act came to an end! A lovely set of pipes on them, a cute little waltz, and they'd been showered in roses! That along with the lovely outfits did mean the two had deserved a little something extra! Reaching once more into the bag beneath his chair, his finger felt around for smooth fabric. Once he detected them, he made a fist and pulled them out, pausing only to sort out which was which. With a soft giggle, Kev gave two underhanded tosses towards the stage, aiming two little packages for the lovely singers! One for Scaramouch and one for Shai! The giggling descended into elated chuckles as the gifts were gathered up, especially since he hadn't been the only one to toss something up there! "Hee hee!"

((Don't worry, my post here does not signal the start of a new round! It actually will not mean the start of a new round for the rest of this thread! Small update in the order of the performances, those affected have been messaged and informed!))

    Re: Another Year, Another Show!

Post by Zurg on Thu Jul 13, 2017 8:49 pm

"Good afternoon, everybody! Or er, perhaps that would be...evening by now."

Oh craters, the show was already starting and they weren't even there...!

"Jo, this is the absolute last time I let you take a shower at the last minute." Two sets of feet briskly power-walked across the grassy knolls of Central Park; one was notably more stubborn than the other. "Well, Big Z, would you rather I skip the shower during lady week...?" Ugh, he could only imagine... Zurg simply responded with a roll of his tired eyes, readjusting his glasses. The monarch's irritation was palpable but contained. "I'd rather we not be late, personally..." Alas! Feminine hygiene trumped punctuality, for Jo could only do one or the other - never both. She was peculiar like that. "Oh look, Big Z, look!" Red eyes trailed her finger, horns prickling at Jo's excited cry. "There's Kev on stage, delivering the introduction! See? We aren't that late, you big purple worry-wart." Eh...

True to her astute observation (and his chagrin), the show had indeed not started. How very lucky of them... Oh well, Zurg knew better than to scrutinize his blessings. "Hmm, seems you are correct," he muttered succinctly. His gaze studied the talent show's edibles from afar, AKA: Lunette's table. Was that her delicious Bang-Bang shrimp~? Oh be still, his growling stomachs! "Yes, Big Z... you made it in time for Lunette's famous shrimp."

    Hmph, the nerve!

With a grunt, he fanned Jo's quip aside and reluctantly looked away from those crispy, decadent morsels. Oh, but that heavenly aroma...! "It sounds like a performance is about to start," Zurg remarked quietly, "so let's grab a few chairs and then worry about the food, hmm?" That shrimp was calling to him - but no! No, he must resist. Being polite as possible, both mechanic and ex-tyrant found two unoccupied chairs in the back row (Zurg's eyesight was notoriously bad up close) and comfortably sat. During the brief intermission between this act and the next, they were both going to make rapid beelines for a scrumptious bite to eat!

"I want to thank everybody who helped me. We have wonderful food, amazing people, and astounding acts to share together. Everyone who pitched a hand to set this up has my gratitude and everybody who came... I'm just really proud. This place is my home and it wouldn't be home without people like you in it.

The show is gonna begin shortly, so please grab whatever food you want and find a seat! And I hope you will enjoy the acts we have in store tonight!"

Jo happily clapped with a smile, the mechanic a ray of sunshine compared to her companion's eternal scowl. "Aw, cute~! I love coming to these talent shows. Kev does such an amazing job bringing everything together!" While he wasn't quite as enthusiastic, Zurg nevertheless joined in Jo's applause. "They're not a terrible way to spend a summer evening," he agreed. And it was nice feeling a greater sense of community.

Anyway, time for the first act! And it certainly didn't disappoint.

"Good evenin', folks~! Firstly, before we begin, we'd like to thank everyone for comin' out here and showin' community support, and to Kev for once again puttin' this together. Let's hear it for Kev-Mak-Tarr! And secondly, we got a treat for ya tonight - a real class act~! Hold on to your plates, folks, 'cause things might start flyin'."

Pfft! Oh Cosmos, the first act was apparently Shaiamils and that flamboyant android, Scaramouch. Together, Jo and Zurg clapped in unison for their scaly friend, the former incredibly excited.

Leather, tight pants, fluff and polish; oh yes, the mechanic's womanly imagination had adequately been roused. Look at that glittery stud of an avian, that Shai~! The snazzy android beside him was no slouch, either! "Ooooh~!" She giggled and impishly nudged an elbow into Zurg's (grumbly) side. "Nothing like seeing two well-dressed men strut their stuff on stage, eh, Big Z~?" Like clockwork, he was significantly less impressed; though, the duet's synchronized vocals weren't terrible. He was quite pleased with their melody, in fact. "Mhm..." he mumbled and grumbled beneath his breath, stoic. Truly, there was nothing that moved Zurg - not even the brief levitation spell, curiosity aside. How did they manage such a feat...? He could discern no anti-grav devices hidden around the stage, nor had Shaiamils flapped those birdy wings of his. Could it be...? Was it true...? Had this been the doing of, dare Zurg think it, magic? His nose crinkled at the thought.

...Oh, but the rose petals were a nice touch. Bed of Roses, rose petals, etc.

Zurg merely sat there, as solid as stone, as both he and Jo quickly became blanketed in a layer of pinks and reds. "Well, I have to hand it to these two," remarked the alien, eyes following a petal as it twirled downward. "When it comes to aesthetics, they're both quite the flashy peacocks." In true devious fashion, a lopsided smirk crawled up Jo's face. "Yeah, almost as much as super villains, huh~?" SNORT. "...Let's just make our plates."

    Re: Another Year, Another Show!

Post by Mortis on Fri Jul 14, 2017 5:58 pm

    Before the act:
The sounds of conversation and and the smell of food mingled in the evening air. Kev’s planned festivity went off as successfully as it had done the year before, as it drew in members of the community both old and recently arrived. However, among the many diverse faces that came to watch the show unfold, there was a distinct lack of a towering undead among them. There was no looming corpse around the snack tables, no malignant presence sitting in the grass, or seated awkwardly in one of the folding chairs.

Perhaps the situation had been too much for him, too many vital presences within a relatively confined space? Maybe he lost his nerve and chickened out on the entire affair. But, that would be the quickest to assume, would it not?

Much like the old adage, it was a sure way to make a jackass of one’s self to believe that to be the case.

In actuality, Mortis was both there, and he was not. He was indeed in the park, and near the festivities, but his surroundings were neither colorful nor lively. Washed out shades of grey surrounded him and his horses, the grass at his feet looking far more charred and cracked than the lush lawn that was outside of this shadowy parallel plane. The cityscape that the majority of the city’s populace meandered about was crumbling and dilapidated, as years upon years of past tragedies and evils layered over each other like translucent sheets of rice paper splattered with black ink. Tentacled abominations towered over the twisted skeletons of skyscrapers as hordes of the undead shambled down the street alongside the metallic frames of rebellious droids. Shambling, fleshy wretches, eldritch abominations, and more mingled within the mishmash mob of this dimension’s most horrific scenes in history.

Yet, despite the chaos that churned and milled like a ceaseless whirlpool, the undead had found the Ether had a number of objects that could be assets to those who possessed the skill to take advantage of them. For instance, the part of the park that Kev decided to hold the talent show, happened to be smack dab in the middle of a pile of rubble, a stain of past history otherwise invisible to the majority of the show-goers. Megaliths of concrete and twisted rebars jutted out of the broken, yet mist-like, ground of this plane. The populace walked among and even through these small cliffs of man-made stone, completely oblivious, ignorant, to the world that lay beyond the veil between life and death.

The ghostly shadow of stone scraped beneath the undead’s claws as he came to perch upon the jagged edge of stony debris, observing the attendees as they milled about and inevitably, came to sit as the show started. They appeared to him as pulsating energy signatures, vibrant pale lights that stood out among the shade. The talent show and its festivities were simply another wafer thin layer among the many dark, malignant stains that tainted this world’s ether. He recognized the first soul that came to the stage, Shaiamil’s avian form unmistakable even when he was reduced to vital energies and an aura.

His co-performer though, was unfortunately rendered unable to be registered upon the undead superfiend’s senses within this plane. Scaramouch was as invisible to him as the air that filled his skull. He gave a parting glance to the bird that he observed moving around and singing upon the stage, briefly strutting unaware through psychic stains of dismal rubble and twisted metal. The undead knew better than to linger around when there was precious little time to get properly situated himself. As per Kev’s routine schedule, he had been placed as the next act after this one.

He hopped down from the rubble, landing upon the ethereal imprint of the stage and striding through the act, invisible, intangible, a ghost to the performers and the audience as they were to him in turn. At the edge of the simple wooden structure, both of his horses were waiting, their forms strikingly foreign in this plane compared to how they looked when material.

White flame bloomed in Samhain’s eye sockets, brilliant and nearly blinding compared to the rest of her, which looked as if it were composed of pitch black smoke that was trying to keep itself composed in the shape of a horse. Her nostrils warped, and a plume of equally pale flame jetted from them. Angemort barely differed, as her nasal cavity glowed from within, burning with a similar brilliant flame. Licks of pale fire flickered just behind the cowl of decayed flesh that covered the top half of her face, flaring to a harsh jet as she clapped her teeth impatiently.

”It will be our turn sssoon, girlsss, jussst a minute or ssso more.” He hissed, standing at the edge of the stage’s staircase, his clawed hands upon his bony hips.

Both of the mares were prepared as well as him, though there was a part that was still a little... anxious. It was not so much over the performance itself, no. He had gone over it enough times for the trio to know their routine by heart. Although, if a performance routine that spanned barely over five minutes had been a challenge to remember, he would have never opted to sign up in the first place. His anxieties came from what he witnessed as he let his gaze sweep over the gathered crowd, all of them having one thing in common:

    Life.

The masses burned like a thousand candles, nestled snug together in their seats and at their snack tables. Until recently, Mortis had only witnessed this amount of mortals at a distance, sitting at a bench or meandering along a paved path. Now, he may as well be close enough to touch them, bump into them if he was not careful or overly vigilant. Thus, it was far more comfortable to wait in the ether until his turn came instead of wander among the other performers and attendees.

In here, he did not bother a single soul, and not a soul that made up the audience could bother him even if they wanted to.

His gaze was broken from the gathered masses, as he noted Shaiamil’s presence sweep silently past him and traversed down the stairs. It seemed his time would come shortly. Though in the meantime, it seemed there was some prep work to be done. One of the show helpers had come up and looked to be... sweeping something. Did Shaiamils put something on the stage? With a dull hiss, Mortis cleared the mild concern from his mind, and approached the two mares.

”Asss we practiced, Angemort will appear firsst, you will join usss on my cue, Sssamhain.” He rasped, partially to the two towering steeds, and partially to himself.

Yes, we know the routine, Master

    You need not worry.

The both of them were quick to reassure, if only because the both of them were so confident; mainly because Mortis had been so confident while training them back at the farm. They knew the movements, they knew what the sheep-skull headed superfiend wished of them, and were willing to carry it out to the letter. Therein, it seemed strange to the equine duo that their master would be so shaky.

”...Ah, yesss, of courssse.” Mortis hissed, approaching the mares while he waited for the stage to be cleared.

...You do not sound confident, Master.

Samhain had been the one to address the matter first.

”Sss... I...” The undead took a faux breath, and flexed his claws, his tone resolute. ”I am fine. I am confident. You need not worry about me, either of you. Be ready when it isss our turn.”

Their ears flicked to and fro, picking up their master as he consciously pushed to give off an aura of confidence, collectedness. The sweeper plucked their broom up and made their way off the stage, and the Superfiend watched as the helper stepped down and past him to put away their tools.

It isss our turn, come along, girlss.” He stated, gesturing with a claw for them to follow as he stepped onto the stage.

The stage had been cleared, the performing area empty and quiet. Where was the next performer?

The answer came with a stiff, unnatural chill that swept over the area, biting at the audience’s skin and raking down their spines, regardless of how well they may be insulated. A bank of heavy mist began to roll in, from where could not be discerned, and successfully blanketed the stage with a thick wall of icy grey. It tingled uncomfortably upon the skin of mortals who came in contact with it. As it rolled across the grassy ground, it froze the lush green carpet  beneath a film of frost.

Perhaps it was fortunate then, that the majority of the strange, supernatural fog only lingered upon the front row.

Though, the odd presence of the unnatural mist was soon joined by a heavy clap of hooves upon wood. Something within the fog bank snorted and huffed. The thick, misty bank parted just in time for the audience to see the source, as a massive monster of a living-dead horse reared with a hoarse, shrill scream. It was a haunting sound that pierced ones nerves, and lingered within the ears. Perforated, greened hide stretched over her skull in a ragged cowl and left her nasal bones and the front half of her jaws bare in a morbid, skeletal grin. Her jagged molars were visible in the gaps that had been eaten away by decay. The undead steed’s eye sockets were empty, dead, but her gaze could be felt by all who possessed a beating heart. The rest of the animal looked just as decayed, as the majority of her shoulders and neck were naked of any hide or skin, and glimpses of pearly bone peeked between gaps of sinuous rotten muscle. Thick hooves, each of them easily the diameter of a punch bowl -or perhaps bigger, slammed upon the surface of the with a harsh bang akin to a thunderclap.

Leather straps and barding wrapped itself over the undead animal, stretching and settling with a creak under the horse’s movements. For those that were familiar with the animals that the undead kept, the undead horse’s equipment was nothing more than her usual riding gear; black leather tack with a breastplate that bore a silvery bat-winged skull upon the front. The great beast kept her sightless gaze upon the crowd, while her master drew their attention from where he sat upon her saddle.

”Greetingssss!” the sheep-skull headed rider boomed to the crowd, his voice graveled and hoarse,  ”My name isss Mortissss, I have come to educate you!”

As the mist faded from around the stage the superfiend elaborated further, he guided the undead behemoth to turn. She flicked her head with an icy puff and came to stand in quarter profile for the audience to see. Her rider wore no special costumes, no glitter or sequins. From head to toe he was covered in his usual clothing; A black duster layered over a trench coat that covered the majority of his rot-riddled leathers, and a black wide-brimmed Stetson upon his skull that cast a shadow over his long face.

”More sspecifically, I have come to educate you about thisss impresssive sssteed, and what ssshe can do. Thisss,” he gestured to the steed beneath him with an open, rotten palm, "isss Angemort. Ssshe isss one of my bessst friendss, a faithful companion, and ssshe will be one of my asssissstantsss in thisss performance.”

He let his hand fall back to the reins, continuing to address the audience. ”Allow usss to breifly demonsstrate for you, A ssseriesss of classsic ssstanding maneuversss for the field of battle, known asss ‘sssautsss d'école’, or ‘airsss above ground’... Ssstarting with, the piaffe!”

On cue, the massive horse’s limbs lifted in sync, and began to trot in place, the beast’s neck arched as she appeared to dance upon the stage like she were a spanish stallion instead. Her bony whip of a tail swung from side to side in sync with her movements. Meanwhile Mortis sat with the motion, moving with the horse.

”Thisss movement keepsss the horsse alert, ready to move at a moment’sss notice. When her rider isss in danger, ssshe will bring them out of harmsss way with the levade.” Mortis rasped above the rhythmic drum of her hooves upon the wooden slats.

Immediately the horse paused in her dance, as if upon a silent cue, and lifted her front end off the ground at a forty-five degree angle, the dense muscle of her hind legs bunching as she kept her front legs tucked up beneath her chest and her head gracefully aloft. It was a strikingly regal pose, for such a terrifying beast. It held more resemblance to a disciplined , militant movement, than the dangerous rearing of a spooked animal.

The undead did not miss a beat as he leaned with the standing animal, turning his attention to the crowd once again as she held the position. While he spoke, not a single strip of greened meat on the animal quivered, nor did the undead mare threaten to break her stance. ”Thisss liftsss the rider out of reach of an enemy and in turn can sssstartle them away from both the sssteed and her rider, from here the horsse can lead into the mezair!”

The undead steed dropped back down to all fours upon the stage with a dull, heavy thud. Her pause was only for a brief moment, before Angemort reared up again, one broad hoof tucked to her chest while the other struck out in the air above the audience. Her back hooves clapped upon the stage in a tight turn, as if she were kicking out at an unseen enemy that surrounded them. She turned so her profile was shown to the audience as she came to land back on her front hooves once again with a puff.

He motioned the horse to turn and walk to the far end of the stage, pausing as it came to the stairs to turn once again, facing the length of the stage.

”In battle, the horssse alssso aided the rider in essscaping danger. Firssst, with the courbette.” On that cue, Angemort reared into action again.

Only there was no kicking, no regal posing. Instead, the rotting behemoth proceeded to essentially bunny hop her way across the stage, her forelegs tucked against her chest as she bounced once, twice, and then thrice, before landing solidly back upon the wooden floor. It was easy to see how that movement would be useful, as to anyone that was not on the horse’s back, seeing a beast with sharp hooves and powerful limbs leaping towards them would be an intimidating sight, and unexpected.

He brought the mare around to stand in the center of the stage once again, and moved on to the next manever, ”Next, the croupade!”

The horse started into the piaffe again as if upon cue, before she leaped up into the air. It was not some messy jump of a senseless beast, as the animal remained completely parallel to the ground, tightly tucking her legs beneath her briefly before landing solidly back upon her hooves. As well, the animal landed exactly where she had started. Upon her return to the stage floor, the horse started to piaffe once more, anticipating her rider’s next command.

”And finally, there isss the capriole!” Mortis announced to the audience.

Angemort dutifully performed as  she had done before, keeping her body in profile to the crowd as she launched herself off the ground, tucking her forelegs in and at the height of her jump. The mare’s powerful back hooves snapped out behind her in a blindingly quick kick, before she came to land on all four hooves once again with a sharp clap.

The undead leaned forward in his saddle to give the mare a fond pat on the side of her meaty neck. ”Yesss, thisss fine animal can be both a faithful companion, and sssteadfassst ally. But, thisss isss not all I have to ssshow you. What isss better than one horssse performing thesse dissciplinesss, but two?”

The undead turned Angemort to face the crowd. With a mental cue, a dense bank of mist rolled in once more, and a second set of hooves could be heard clapping upon the wood as a second undead mare came to stand upon the stage. An unsettling rictus grin emerged from the unnatural mist first, the mare’s head held high and proud  upon coming to stand next to her sister. Equipped with the same riding tack as the  This one looked more intact than the aforementioned Angemort, yet she gave off an eerie presence that outweighed the other. Perhaps it was the grin.

Mortis introduced the mare, gesturing to her with an outsstretched palm.”Meet my sssecond assissstant, and sssteadfassst companion, Ssssamhain!” It was as if the mare knew she was being introduced, as she reared, lashing her front hooves at the air as she gave a shrill neigh that carried upon the air like a banshee’s scream, and chilled those who heard it to their very core. Once she quieted from giving her “greeting”, the undead superfiend continued. "For our final demonssstration, we will be performing a ssshow of disscipline and ssskill, a mix of what I have ssshow you thuss far... and sssomething elssse.”

He remained seated upon the mare as they took to their positions, positioned as if to mirror each other. Then, they began to move. Their hooves clapped upon the stage in perfect synch as they performed a piaffe, like there was indeed an invisible mirror that they were performing in front of. In synch they lifted into a levade, and then stood taller as they turned away from each other and performed the mezair before dropping back into their standing trot.

Then the both of them leaped up in unison, kicking out in  a capriole before landing with a loud clap of hooves upon the stage. Here, they rose into a levade again, but as they did so, the unnatural mist from earlier began to swirl around them, swallowing both of the mares up completely and leaving the stage bare as it passed. But, that was not the end of the performance. There was a sharp whinny from above the right of the stage, as both Angemort and Samhain burst out of a cloud of mist that had manifested in the air next to it. Mist curled around their flanks as they arced gracefully over the top, side by side, before being swallowed again by another thick fog bank at the other end of the stage. They leaped out of another bank of mist, higher than the last, as they arced over it again from the left to the right. A blanket of mist caught them again, and they disappeared for but a moment.

    Mist rolled across the top of the stage canopy, a ghostly, gravelled laughter echoing from within. The chilling sound of mirth was followed by a booming call;

”THE TIME HASSS COME TO DEPART THISSS MORTAL REALM! ASSK NOT FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLSS, MORTALSSS, FOR IT TOLLSSS FOR THEE!”

There was a sound like hooves drumming upon stone in a charging sprint as the forms of the undead beasts grew clearer. Like a bullet both horses and their rider leaped from the unnatural, chilling cloud. But this time, both of the massive revenant steeds were leaping straight for the crowd! The mares gave a ghastly whinny as they emerged from the mist, chilling and soul piercing. Both Samhain and Angemort soared high over the audience, their front hooves tucked beneath them and their necks stretched forward at the height of their jump. They passed through the air high above the first three rows, before the mist swallowed them again mid-flight.

In the wake of the undead superfiend’s final disappearing act, there was no clap of hooves as he returned to accept applause, no towering dark-garbed undead climbed onto the stage again to take a bow, there were only the wispy trails of grey as the fog dissipated from above the audience’s heads and silence.

    Re: Another Year, Another Show!

Shaiamils grinned as he caught Kev tossing him something out of the corner of his eye. Surely enough, it was a pair of underwear, just as the scaly alien had promised. It would seem that he threw Scaramouch a pair, too. How nice! Anyone looking his way would get wind of a very noticeable bounce in the doctor's step as he headed over to the Tavern's table. Coming down from a performance high was much easier said than done.

"So, what did you think of our performance?" he asked Lunette. Come to think of it, the avian thought he also saw her toss the robot something, but he wasn't going to ask. In a moment, a certain Jawa ran over to them, just chittering away. "Oh! Hey there, Anjeet. Uhh.. Scaramouch, can you tell me what she's saying?"

Oh! Apparently the little alien was simply complimenting the both of them on a job well done. Seriously, he really should have been able to figure that one out for himself.

"Ah, I see. Thank you, Anjeet," he responded, patting her on the head. "And thank you, Scaramouch, for translating!"

As the avian started fixing himself a plate of food, he took note of the next person appearing on the stage. Mortis? He was in the show? Shai had no idea! His curiosity was piqued in an instant. What exactly was he going to be doing? Something with his horse, clearly, but what? All of his questions were quickly answered. Oh, horse maneuvers, that made sense.

Shaiamils watched with undivided attention, listening with equal intent. He had seen horses do these moves once or twice before, but never knew their names. Despite his own height, he could not help but be just a little bit intimidated by the horse. The feathery alien had never actually been this close to one of Mortis' horses before. Even standing at seven feet, she still managed to dwarf him! Well, make that two.

Eventually, Mortis' other horse joined them on the stage. She was apparently there to help them with the final leg of their demonstration. Both horses performed the moves that had been demonstrated prior, and in perfect unison, too. Indeed, though, just as Mortis had promised, there was definitely something else about this final routine. In a moment, the horses were gone in a cloud of mist, and they reappeared over the audience. Admittedly, this startled Shai a little, but it was a very impressive display regardless.

As the avian started to applaud, he noticed that Mortis and his horses were nowhere to be seen. They simply vanished, never returning. That was a bit disappointing. Maybe Shaiamils would find an opportunity to give him his compliments later, though?

"Alright, got it." Njorth placed the wienie in a sesame bun for the mummy. "Here you go. Enjoy!"

As the alchemist continued to attend to his grill, his attention was drawn to a new voice coming from the stage. Wait a minute, how? On a horse as large as that, surely he would have heard hooves or something. Though Njorth was preoccupied with his grilling, he still looked up from time to time to observe the maneuvers. They were quite fascinating to watch.

The Nord almost dropped a wienie on the ground when Mortis' second horse appeared on the stage. So that's how they got onto the stage without being heard! That was really neat! Apparently she was there to help close the act. Njorth flipped the wienies on the grill as the horses did their synchronized routine. He did not want to miss what they had in store.

And it was completely worth it! The Dragonborn watched as Mortis and his horses disappeared and reappeared over the audience. What a show! Njorth clapped profusely for them, but they never reappeared to accept the applause. That was a shame. Still a wonderful demonstration, though!
