Girls Day Out (Plus Demon and Fallen Angel)

Post by Diana Ridley on Mon Jun 12, 2017 7:45 pm

    TIME: 2:00 PM
    DATE: June 12th

Diana hummed softly as she and her… Unwanted companion rode the bus to their destination. She had been unaware of her friend’s birthday until the very last second and she felt bad for having not known and gotten her anything. But it opened up the possibility of them to go out and have some fun! A girls day out! Just like she would have with her friends back home… Minus, of course, the supernatural entities that were tailing both girls of course. The young woman glanced up past her sun hat to spy the fallen angel that wouldn’t. Stop. Following her. And of course when she did she found him staring. He was always staring, but considering she’d realized he never blinked it made her feel a tad bit better. Not much, but a tad.

“Rose Water Mall!” The bus driver called from the front and Diana stood up from her seat, smoothing out her skirt as she did and made her way up to the front, her tall, furry, white shadow followed along behind her. The young woman paused at the door of the bus and smiled at the driver and thanked him before disembarking and heading towards the right entrance to the Mall. Thankfully there was a shaded area in front of the wide row of doors, there she waited for her friend and her own companion in the safety of the shade.

”They shall be here soon, Dear One.” Samael said, his voice echoing unnaturally and still made a shiver go down her spine in the worst way possible.

“Ah don’t doubt it, hon, we did plan this outin’ and ta’ meet at this time.” Bailey had gone to the trouble of running around the entire city just to get to her birthday party, she had no doubt that she would make it to their girls day out with just as much vigor. But hopefully she won’t be running this time, it was quite hot out and the poor dear didn’t need to exhaust herself before they got to have some fun.

“What is the point of this?” The cat like entity tilted his head at her. He still didn’t understand the importance of celebrating the day of ones birth. Sure, it was momentous when his Dear One had been born, but she was one of his favorites and many things about her life were important, important to him anyway. But for everyone to celebrate their own? How curious.

“It was her special day and ah not only didn’t know or even have anythin’ for her she had to… Well, deal with you for a good portion of it. Not exactly somethin’ one wants ta’ do for their birthday.” She said. “Even though she said it was fine ah still wanna do somethin’ for her, she’s been such a great friend ta’ me after all.”

    “Hm…”

”Hmmmm…Yeah! Avocado and coconut, who would have thought! It works out!”  A certain curly-headed ginger smiled up at the apparently empty air above her from her as she walked towards the mall. With a smoothie in hand and a giftcard burning up her pocket, Bailey was feeling pretty chipper today.

Even back in her home, Bailey hadn’t had many “girlfriends” to do things like hang out or go shopping with. It only took the destruction of her universe for her to find women to hang out with. And one to date. And one to share a very awkward fate with, actually…

”Hey, so Diana’s…dude, he’s super weird right?” The massive fallen angel looked down at her, blinking one of his great tar eyes. ”Yes. He’s…strange.”  Bailey took a long slurp of her smoothie, nodding to herself in confirmation. ”Okay so just…just to make things clear, if you ever call me “dear one” then we’re going to have a problem.”

The demon shuddered, flinching away from Bailey as disgust filled his entire being. ”That is DISGUSTING.”  Creamer crawled ahead of her on the sidewalk, then scaled up the side of the building. The mere thought that he would fawn over Bailey like Samael follows around that other woman was sickening to the fallen angel. Nearly literally sickening, if he was a physical being.   Bailey, the human below, just watched with a bemused smile as she continued to sip on her smoothie and walk on towards the now in-sight mall. The rest of the journey passed in mutually-uncomfortable silence as both participants in this unnatural soul-demonic bond considered the situation of the ones they were going to meet. Sure, Bailey had helped to talk Korra down and explain that Samael couldn’t be held to human standards but it…it was still so weird.

Creamer leapt from the surrounding buildings and walked beside Bailey on the sidewalk as they approached the entrance, one of them smiling and the other with half-lidded eyes that practically screamed out his lack of enthusiasm.

    ”Diana, hi! And…and Samael, hello.”

Diana had taken a seat on a bench near the entrance of the mall as she waited for her friend, deciding to take out her sketch pad and doodle a little as she did. Samael was standing next to the bench, close to her side, as he seemed to prefer to do. Come to think of it she had never seen him sit before, not even on the bus over. That was a little… Strange, not the strangest thing about him by far, but still strange enough. His most jarring feature was probably his eyes, always open, always staring, always watching. Even when he wasn’t directly looking at her she could feel his gaze on her.

“They are talking about me. They think me strange.” Samael suddenly spoke up, Diana looked up at him, setting her pencil down.

“Well… Hon, you are, can’t blame ‘em there.” She said, quickly lowering her gaze when he looked down on her. While she was getting used to him, his gaze was still unnerving as all get out.

“I do not, Dear One, I was simply making an observation.” He said, still not tearing his gaze from the young woman. The fallen angel didn’t have to physically look around to see everything around them, so why bother? Samael still couldn’t understand why she was so unnerved by his presence, had he done something ‘creepy’ again? Alas, he would not know unless she spoke up about it.

Meanwhile Diana was scanning the surrounding area and soon spotted the red head on her way. This put a smile on her face as she put her sketch pad and pencil back into her purse, standing up she smoothed out her skirt and waved them over. “Hey Bailey~ How’re you an’ Creamer? Y’all ready ta’ head on in?” She asked.

Samael looked down at the other woman, a large grin seemingly permanently on his face. “Hello Bailey,” He said before turning his gaze to the demon. “Hello Brother.”

Oh, Samael. Even Bailey couldn’t blame you for not understanding the intricacies of human interaction. It had taken her years to learn how to not stare unnervingly at people, and even now she had troubles with it. But…it might take her a while to be able to associate her own experiences with Samael’s smile. He was still a bit off-putting to the human.

Aulaam, on the other hand, just thought he was weird. The demon saw no need to twist his words one way or the other. Accepting the fact that a powerful not-entirely-a-demon was doting after a simple human woman was like swallowing glass. As such, the demon approached Diana and her tag-along without an ounce of the remorse that would be appropriate. Bailey, at least, had no idea that there was a chance of being over-heard. Creamer knew this and just did not care a bit.

”We’re pretty good! And, I think so, after I throw this away at least! So long as there aren’t any um, wards that we need to be worried about is all.” The woman smiled back and, with a final sip of her drink, threw it into the nearest bin. After coming back she nodded to Samael with a polite smile. ”Are you enjoying yourself, Samael? Oh! And what stores did you want to hit first?” Creamer stopped, looking down at Samael and nodding. ”Hello.”

Yes, the intricacies of mortal interaction were quite complicated. So many little things went into it, and even the slightest thing could ruin a conversation. A man had tried to converse with his Dear One on the bus until he had seen him staring. He had even moved to the other end of the bus afterwards. Sam hadn’t known why at the time until his Dear One explained. He couldn’t help that he stared, if he blinked he would miss something, and why would he want to do that?

“That’s good ta’ hear, hon!” Her smile softened a bit. As the question of wards came up the pale woman looked up to her companion quizzically. He stared down at her, then at Bailey and his brother. Sam’s eyes flicked in the direction of the mall for the briefest of moments before returning to the rest of the group.

“There are none that should impede on us.” He said simply, his eyes turning pink briefly as he received a pat on the arm and a soft smile from his Dear One. Samael tilted his head at Bailey’s question however, eyes turning orange for a moment. “Am I… Enjoying myself?” He repeated the question. Was he? Enjoyment was still something of a mystery to him. “I… Suppose I am.” He said after what felt like a long moment of contemplation to himself, but was only a second or so after he’d spoken the previous statement.

Diana nodded at Sam before looking back at Bailey. “Well, ah was thinking we’d go somewhere you’d like first, hon. This is supposed ta’ be for your birthday after all.” She flashed another smile at Bailey. She looked back at Samael for a moment. “...Though it probably wouldn’t hurt ta’ hit a clothing store first and get him somethin’ ta’ wear.” It’d be a shame if they were thrown out because someone was running around naked.

Samael meanwhile tilted his head curiously at his charge. “...Something for me to wear?” He repeated curiously.
