    What Is This Strange Place?

    Takes place after Anjeet's presentation

As quickly as it had engulfed her, the blue light faded. Anjeet stumbled forward, unable to stop her fall. For the time being, all the tiny alien could do was lie there. She was extremely dizzy, and equally nauseous. If she were to get up right then and there, she might vomit right into her concealing cowl. After a few minutes spent composing herself, it finally dawned on her. She definitely was not lying in sand.

A fuzzy hand clenched tightly at the ground underneath her. She pulled something up from the ground, and brought this new material to her face. Grass. Anjeet was lying in grass. Wherever she was, it definitely wasn't home. Up until now, she had only ever heard people tell stories of green grass on other worlds. Was she on another planet somehow? Had she been sucked into a portal?

Anjeet could make out faint music playing from somewhere. From what she could tell, it was coming from a lone building in the distance. Maybe someone in there could help her out? As much as the alien wanted to run to the building, she had to take it easy. The portal, or whatever it was, really did a number on her balance. Too fast and she might very well fall face first again.

Carefully, and with much effort, the Jawa opened the door. It was pretty heavy for someone as small as herself! Immediately she was reminded of the cantinas back on Tatooine. Music played, and there appeared to be a bar towards the back of the room. Some patrons were scattered about, some giving her disgusted looks and wrinkling their noses. Where was she even supposed to start?

    Anjeet is greeted with music.:

Thursday was a pretty mellow day. Not so much as Tuesday, but not as busy as Friday. A few were at the bar, some were at the tables, but all in all, it wasn't overly crowded and loud, hinted by the music that filled the room, quiet chatter barely audible among the few patrons that were there. The door clicked shut, and though a few may have turned to look at the small creature, none paid her any mind... until the odd smell started to permeate through out the tavern. Those far from the entrance paid no mind, but those nearby, especially at the bar, weren't too pleased with the new scent.

In fact, despite trying her might to be polite, a certain feline's nose also crinkled up, and not in the cute scrunchy way. Taking a step from the back of the bar, her shoes clicked along the floor until they reached the lush carpet near the entrance, to which it took Lunette a lot of strength and determination not to cover her nose, or ask the little Jawa to exit. In fact, Lunette did a double-take, eyes widening in a curious and surprised manner at the Jawa. Jawa. That word--how did she know it? Why did this smelly little critter look so familiar?? Hadn't she seen it before...?

"Uhm..." her train of thought was still boarding at the station, the feline looking down at Anjeet dumbfounded. Between trying to remember why she knew what this creature was (vaguely), and the smell she was emitting, it was hard for Lunette to focus on any sort of words. Luckily, a certain gargoyle tapped her shoulder, "I will handle this, Ms. Lunette. No need to worry." Collins directed the befuddled cat towards the kitchen via her shoulders, politely pushing her away from the alien. "Why don't you go find some strong air freshener?" With little hesitation, Lunette furrowed her brow and went straight to the kitchen, not questioning any of this aloud.

The gargoyle turned back and stared Anjeet down, his own brow furrowing, though his glare wasn't one of malice. "Welcome--" Ma'am? Sir? "... kind patron." Close enough. "How can we help you...? Food? Drink? Directions? Maybe a bath?" She had no mouth visible, and her clothes were filthy. It was a miracle Collins suggested a bath politely instead of grabbing a mop and bucket and scrubbing the little thing down. That's how you lose your job!

    "Nuuuuuuuuuuh..."
There was that noise again. That confused and/or distressed noise.
Lunette was so terribly confused, she couldn't help but absentmindedly wander over to a certain dishwasher and lean against him, her head to his hip and still making that confused "nuuuuuuuh..." sound. Boon leaned over from his station, brow raised, before deciding he didn't want to know! Whatever it was, she was obviously asking Scaramouch for assistance, and Boon was fine with that. Things weren't gonna cook themselves, after all! "Mochiiiii..." Lunette mewled into the android's apron, "I think I'm going crazy..." As if she wasn't crazy enough!

Oh hey, lady! What species was she supposed to be? Anjeet supposed that it didn't matter. Whatever the lady was, she was a pretty lady! Wait, why was she leaving so soon? The alien would question if she had perhaps said something wrong, but she had not said anything yet. In place of the strange female, a new stranger approached. Male, if she had to guess, and equally foreign in her eyes.

The Jawa tilted her head at his question. Bath? Did the people here just give out baths like they were nothing. Anjeet didn't need anymore confirmation at this point. Wherever this was, it obviously was not home. The tall stranger before her also offered food, or maybe a drink. As tempting as that sounded, she wasn't sure if she would be able to keep anything down just yet. Directions, though. Yes, that would be wonderful!

"Anjeet lost," she began, motioning to herself. "Stranger-man, please tell. This planet, where? Strange place!"

Already the tiny alien could see a look of confusion crossing the stranger's face. Oh no. Reality hit her like a brick to the face. She was surrounded by off-worlders! Whatever she said probably sounded like complete nonsense to these people!.. Wait, on this world, wasn't Anjeet the off-worlder?.. This was just so much to take in!

    "Scrub-a-dub-dub, rub-a-bub-bub~!"

From his post beside the kitchen sink, Scaramouch behaved like clockwork. He sang, he danced, and he washed; and the android wouldn't have it any other way. Yellow dish gloves shimmered with a glossy luster as the robot dunked sullied plate after sullied plate into soapy water, his spirits as high as a kite. "Man oh man~!" Scaramouch's voice never once lost its cheerful melody throughout his menial chore. "I don't know what just walked in, but pee-YEEEEW - that is a ripe smell! What crawled up inside Collins and died? Oh wait, somethin' already did~!" Obnoxious, synthesized laughter filled the kitchen. "Hon, hon, hon~! It's like someone's never heard of deodorant, seriously!" Perhaps a group of Europeans had walked in? Whoever was the culprit, the android thought little of it and kept on scrubbing the dishes with an enthusiastic whistle. The life of a dishwasher was peachy-keen!

    "Nuuuuuuuuuuh..."

    Oh?

Ohhhh, did his auditory receptors deceive him, or was that the unmistakable sound of distress Scaramouch heard? Grinning, the robot turned his head with a happy squint of his optics. "Hiya, Lulu~!" he joyfully greeted the fluffy (and terribly confused) Anitra. It only took a second to realize that something had unnerved her, because Lunette kept on nuzzling and nuzzling. She normally did, but this was even more so! Aw, such precious mewling... His smile faltered, but only slightly. "Hm? Crazy?" What a silly notion! Scaramouch said as much.

"Shucks, Lulu, you ain't crazy~!" the robot disagreed. After taking a brief moment to pull off his gloves and wipe his hands, the Anitra soon found her fuzzy ears lovingly scratched. "What's gotten ya into such a fit?" Scaramouch asked, mildly concerned. "Didja, like, see another spooky demon like Creamer or somethin'?"

Pfft! Lunette was such a big 'fraid cat~!

"What's gotten ya into such a fit?"

Boy. How did she explain this?
If only it was another daemon like Creamer. It would at least make sense. But no, it was... it was a Jawa? From that Star Wars movie? They existed? It was real? It was as if Lunette were having an existential crisis despite not even from anything... or was she?? The feline stuffed her face deeper into Scaramouch's hip as his fingers scratched her ears tenderly. It was comforting, but she was... still so confused. "... I don't know! There's... there's a Jawa thing out there...? I-I think it is at least! It looks just like them and it's speaking weird and I can barely understand it?" The alien's words may be garbled to most, but there were a few words the Anitra understood. Not that it helped, really, because even if some broke through, it was still hard to comprehend.

"I didn't know films were real!" Weren't they just written and created by people for the purpose of entertainment? That's what she thought, at least. That's what she understood. Now she understood nothing!

The gaygoyle's ears twitched as they took in Anjeet's odd language. It was broken, and tickled his ears just wrong. "Hold on," he requested, holding up a hand to the Jawa. Searching the pocket on his chest, the stony creature retrieved a small device, similar to a fancy hearing-aid, and placed it in his ear. Fingers lightly adjusted it, and ears twitched as it settled, "alright, that should work. What did you say?" Once Anjeet repeated her request, Collins' brow furrowed. Another newbie. Great!

    "Hmmmm..."

Without hesitation, the gargoyle gathered his words and responded, hoping the creature would understand, "this is Portal Breach. There's a large hub city to the south, Portal City, if you desire technology and transport..." Nose still slightly crinkled, Collins stared at the odd little smelly alien, trying not to be rude and cringe. It wasn't working, though, as his nose cringed and lip slightly curled.

Anjeet's head tilted quizzically as the stranger before her explained where she was. Had she heard correctly? Portal Breach? That was such a strange name for a planet! And there was something about the way this stranger spoke, too. It was as if people asking where they were was a common occurrence around here. Did people just get dumped here all the time or something?

Come to think of it... Portal Breach? Aha! Was Anjeet right after all? Did this mean that the Jawa had indeed been sucked into a portal? It was all starting to make sense now, if only just a little bit.

"Por...tal Breach?" The tiny alien spoke slowly. This kind of phonetics was new and foreign to her. Even when spoken slowly, though, one could clearly hear the strain it had on her voice. "Portal Breach? Anjeet say that right?.. Ooh!.."

The Jawa's attention was suddenly grabbed by a shiny object hanging from the stranger's pocket. What was that? It was at his waist, too, so she could easily reach it if she wanted to. The urge to snatch it was intense, but as hard as it was, the alien resisted. Instead, she simply pointed to his pocket.

    "What that?" she asked.

With the way Lunette kept burrowing into his apron as if she'd seen a ghost, the robot would've thought that was the case! But no, apparently it was because she spotted a Jawa? Pardon him, but Scaramouch openly snorted at the notion. "Lulu, ya silly goose~!" he smiled, metal fingers drumming on that darling, fluffy head of hers. "Jawas don't exist - they're movie characters~!" Oh, the irony. Unbeknownst to the android, Jawas were very, very much real. He'll encounter yet another logical error in a minute, however; right now, Lunette needed comfort and he was going to accomplish precisely that. Scaramouch's characteristic toothy smile never left his metal face. "Didja get into catnip~?" he teased, canines peeking. "Maybe sniffed some kitty weed and thought nothing of it? That's a thing, ya know! I read about it once... on the internet!" God bless the internet. Yes, sir! There was never a finer collection of joy and wonder (and disgust) gathered in one great big, chaotic place.

Now, this is where the Anitra should have been placated, but she seemed really dead set on there being a filthy, little Jawa in the other room! This warranted an investigation - if only so Scaramouch could pull a 'told ya so' later. "Alright, alright~!" relented the android, holding up his hands. And yes, while still grinning like the obnoxious tart he was. "Wouldja like me to put your fears to rest, Lulu? 'Cause I will~! Let's go take a look at this 'Jawa', huh? C'mon~!"

At last, the moment of truth.

With a cheeky wink and a cheery whistle, Scaramouch stepped away from the sink and strutted his saucy stuff over toward the kitchen entrance, hips swaying and heels clicking. "Okay~! Show me this - oh mY GOD!" Guess what he just spotted across the way, shooting the breeze with Collins?

    Small stature...

    Dirty, brown robes...

    Beeeeeady, little eyes...

Yep! That was an indeedy-doodly a Jawa - right down to the textbook definition of 'stinky lil' sand rats who ripped and tore droids apart for cold, hard moola'.

The robot instantly snapped himself back into the kitchen, where it was assumed safe, and tensely pressed his body against the wall, a startled panic written all over his face. "Oh no...!" he squeaked, horrified. Oh no, no, NO, babe! That's a Jawa! A freakin', honest-to-Aku JAWA! Cooling fans loudly sputtered in their riveted sockets. "I'm not beaucoup cuckoo... I'm not beaucoup cuckoo..." Yeah, like chanting will make everything better. Wincing, Scaramouch looked to Lunette as if for help. "Lulu!" he desperately hissed. "Ya like, gotta hide me, babe! If that jittery lil' rodent so much as catches wind that I'm here, it's gonna rub its greasy mitts all over my finish and touch somethin' it shouldn't! I just got done detailin' myself!" Oh, the robo-manity! Of all the Star Wars creatures, why'd it have to be a Jawa!?

Movie characters, he says. They're not real, he says. There's not such thing as Jawas, he says! And worse, accusing her of partaking in the catnip! That stuff didn't even bother her... it tasted like grass and tea, and did very little to actually perk her up. Just a few cups of a coffee would do the same effect. But no, as much as she wished for this to be a fever (or psychedelic) dream, it wasn't, and as the android would soon find out the horrible horrible truth. The truth that, maybe, just maybe, alternate universes and dimensions existed.

    In three...

    Two...

    "oh mY GOD!"

    Yep.

Not only did Scaramouch get a nice slap in the face of reality and Lunette would get to pull the "told you so" card later, but he didn't seem very happy to see a real Jawa! Of course not, from what she recalled, and she remained silent until Scaramouch requested to be hid somewhere. "... Uhm, s-sure! You could make a break for the stairs, if you want?... Or the potato cupboard." Those were pretty good sized, and the robot wouldn't need to scrunch up so much... Really, a kitchen had a lot of hidey-holes if one was flexible enough.

"Yes, Portal Breach..." Collins confirmed. At least she understood basic, and made this exchange easier. The latter part of his previous statement seemed to bounce off the alien as her attention was immediately drawn to the golden chain hanging from the gargoyle's coat pocket. "...?" His brow raised slightly before pulling the chain up and revealing a finely engraved pocket watch. "It's a clock...? It--tells the time and date." Something felt odd about explaining the way a watch worked for some reason, and the gargoyle was bothered as to why... But, perhaps this could be used to his advantage.

The watch was given to the Jawa, chain still connected to his coat pocket, "here, you can inspect it if you want..." Pressing the side would make it pop open, revealing the face and hands of the clock."Anyway... the bus runs nearby. I can offer a few credits to ride it into the city, but if they kick you out due to your--current condition--there's always walking..." It was doubtful someone would bother trying to mug the Jawa with such a stench and look to her, though that was kept to himself.
