    In Need of Shelter

Post by Diana Ridley on Mon May 08, 2017 3:53 pm

    DATE: May 4th
    TIME: 2:28 AM

It had been quite the day. Making sure her housemates got fed, getting to class on time, staying late to work on the set pieces for their next show, walking through a strange portal into some strange land, meeting a daemon and a gargoyle. She had to say, it was much more than she was used to, so much more. Diana was still a might confounded about the whole situation. She was stuck here, and she might never see her family again. Thinking about it almost made her want to cry again, be she'd already decided she wouldn't and fought back tears valiantly.

When she and the daemon made it to the Inn she thanked Boon once again for his kindness and wished him a good night, as well as giving him a winning smile and a wink. God help her she was flirting with someone who was roughly twice her size, she'd have to watch that. Shaking her head of the though Diana walked up to the Inn, hoping there was someone able to help her even so late at night. Diana knocked on the door first. "Hello? Is anyone still up? Ah know it's a wee bit late..." She called, only a little anxious. Okay, maybe a tad more anxious than that. Would she have to sit out here all night? Oh bother... She tried the door, but alas, it was locked. Perhaps waiting outside would be in her future, she wondered just when they opened... "A right mess this is..." She murmured.

Whilst Impa was always prepared to set a good example for her charges and head to bed at a reasonable hour, she was to her very nature something on the nocturnal side. That was more out of her personality than her being a Sheikah, but all the same, it was something that she worked with and used to her advantage. She did appreciate waking up and being up early, and that stood long before her original tasks given back at Hyrule Castle, but even so, she tended to have a knack for keeping a more regular schedule whilst sometimes being up later than one might think.

Tonight had seen the Sage of Shadow up well past her usual time, namely because a certain book that she had acquired had pulled her in even more than she had expected. Impa was an avid reader to the core, and whilst she had found a great number of wonderful books in this world, few had pulled her in like this one. Once she hit one of the next chapters though, she had the fortitude to set her bookmark in its place, and silently make her way out of the room so as to go check on the state of things. With wards and the like about, Impa did not really have to do much for security, but she still liked to check on things as was her nature. She was a protector, and and was set to protect this inn no matter what.

A little while after she had checked each floor and her office along the way, the Sheikah made her way through to the main lobby. Quiet as usual and nothing amiss, but a few moments later, there was an unexpected knock on the door, followed by the calling of an unfamiliar voice. It certainly sounded like a new arrival… and inwardly, Impa appreciated that it was one who appeared to realize what the time was. Still, she smiled softly to herself as she headed towards the front door, soon unlocking and opening it.

There, just outside the door of the Stock Pot Inn, was a short, young woman who seemed to have a slight air of anxiety about her. Keeping her soft smile from a minute ago as she focused on the new arrival, Impa stated, “It might be a bit late, but even with hours over and the door locked, the inn is still open. Are you looking for a place to stay?”

Against all odds Diana didn’t have to wait long until she heard the click of a lock and the door swinging open to reveal another, taller woman. Oh goodness she’d never been so relieved in her life, there was no way she would have been able to handle actually staying outside the entire night. She flashed the woman a slightly nervous smile as she all but welcomed her. “Uh, yes, yes ah am. Ah only just got here a little while ago.” She explained.

The young lady wringed her hands together and shuffled her feet sheepishly. “Ah really do apologize for gettin’ ya’ up so late at night, hon.” The shorter of the women still couldn't help but feel bad about it, it was awfully late after all and she was certainly tired.

Impa nodded as the new arrival confirmed that she had only been there for a little while. She had had a feeling of such regardless of having caught the knock right at first, but it was still nice to be able to verify this. At her subsequent apology, Impa shook her head slightly before gesturing a bit. “No need to apologize; I was actually already up myself, so that timing could scarcely have been better.” Motioning for the girl to follow her inside, she added, “Come on in.”

After the younger lady had done so, Impa closed and re-secured the door. As it was very late after hours but still an entryway that residents of the Stock Pot Inn could access, the main lobby was still lit, albeit with a lower level of lighting that was appropriate of the time. Impa headed towards the front desk, lifting a hand as though to ask the new prospective tenant to give her a moment, just before she slipped into the office and behind said desk.

Deftly pulling up the appropriate form and starting to get it set, Impa stated, “It might be late, but I am glad that you found us… I do hope that this proves to be a nice place for you to stay. We have four floors here… do you have a preference of one?”
