    Party Time

Post by Shaiamils on Sat Feb 27, 2016 3:03 pm

    DATE: FEBRUARY 27TH, 2016
    TIME: ALMOST 6:30 PM

Shaiamils scrambled about his living room. Everything had to be absolutely pristine for what was about to go down in his house. The doctor was throwing a housewarming party, and he wanted everything to be absolutely perfect. First he inspected the sofa and armchair. No stains, wonderful! Was the glass on the coffee table free of unsightly spots? Yes, perfect! The avian was so happy. It was so difficult to keep glass clean, after all. Next, the bathroom. What if someone needed to use the bathroom? Nobody likes to use a dirty bathroom! Ah, it would seem that the bathroom was presentable as well. He let out a sigh of relief at this fact.

Now the feathery alien would have to inspect the food he had laid out for his guests. There was an Italian pasta salda with pepperoni, salami, olives, and cheese cubes mixed in. There was a cheese platter with various cheeses and crackers to put it on. There was some tomato bisque and garlic bread. There was a shrimp cocktail. There was his tropical fruit cake. And of course, there was a bar at the ready should anyone request a drink. Yes, it would seem that everything was accounted for and looking good enough to eat! This was certainly pleasing to the avian doctor. Now, all he had to do was wait for the guests to arrive.

A bright red sports car drove down main street, seemingly driven by no one. There were no occupants inside of the car, merely a steering wheel that turned all on its own. Was it the work of a ghost? A witch Doctor?! Or perhaps just...an alien robot that transforms into a car. The last ray of sunshine sparkled against the crimson paintjob, and the glass looked to be impeccable. One must always look their best at a party! Now where was this house, near central park, was it?

Of course, Knock Out would be unable to drive around the park. It was far too cramped, made of mostly sidewalk. He approached the area, a little pocket of green and wilderness hidden among the technology and business of the city. The mech pulled over into a parking spot, making sure he was steady within the two lines, before he suddenly transformed. The metal body of the car broke apart, bending inwards before suddenly shifting around. Within a matter of seconds, the car's shape had molded itself to form a robotic body. Knock Out stood at his full height, before a ring was placed over one of his sharp digits. The body shrunk down, compressing tightly until Knock Out had gone from a staggering 20 feet to a more versatile 6 feet tall height. The former medic rolled his shoulders, rotating every joint to make sure the shift hadn't displaced anything, before stepping off of the parking space and onto the sidewalk with a light hum. A metallic footfall would announce his every movement as the mech circled around the Park, following the sidewalks to eye every building that overlooked the Park.

Glowing crimson optics narrowed at every building he came across, until finally Knock Out found one that looked to be a house! A little house that was definitely lived in and, as Shai had said, looked to have a nice view over the park! A bit small, but since only Shai lived here, that was fine. Two stories, and with a neat little balcony! Knock Out strolled up to the door, raising a fist to rap his knuckles on the door lightly.

    Knock knock knock!

"Hope you're ready to party!" He smirked, leaning back on his peds as he waited for the party host to open the door. What does one do at one of these parties anyway...?

Actually pretty pumped for Shai's housewarming party Nyreena was sure that it was going to be an awesome time. Knowing that she would be able to get to it after her shift at City Noise she did have to wonder if he was going to have any music playing at the party and deciding to be thoughtful she would stop by her place and pick up a few appropriate CDs that hopefully he might be nice for his festivities. After clocking off from her shift and saying her farewells to everyone she took to the skies and flew away home, phasing through the wall of her room at the Inn. Touching down inside she straightened herself up and going to her music collection quickly scanned the titles, pulling out a few that had some sure to be party and mood music. Setting them aside she went to the bathroom and fixed herself up just enough to be party ready and beautiful in her heart and soul. Once she was ready she grabbed her CDs, put them into her bag, and took off back through the wall and out to Shai's new place. Remembering what he said about it having a view over Central Park it was easy to spot after a while, noticing Knock Out knock on the door as she landed a few feet from the door, walking up to it and saying to the Cybertronian, "Hey Knock Out. Ready to have a blast at Shai's party?"

It had been a while since Kev had gone to a housewarming that wasn't his own. Did anybody else ever even thrown one...? Not that he could gather from recent memory. In any case, it was a little exciting! A little party, out at Shai's house, and he got to go with Fear! What's not to like? The alien was dressed as warmly as he could be, with the sweater he got from Fear underneath his brown jacket. A scarf wrapped snugly around his neck, a warm hat with a fur lining, and gloves to keep his hands warm. His hands were currently wrapped around a thin box wrapped a light blue wrapping paper and tied with a dark blue ribbon. Inside was a little housewarming gift for Shai. After making sure Fear had his own gift in hand, the two of them were off, walking in the direction of the Park. The two of them were well acquainted with the place by now, and it didn't take long to get there.

It perhaps might have taken longer to find the house that belonged to Shai, were it not for two certain, very striking people right in front of a building. One was a shiny robotic figure, colored primarily in a glossy red paint, with white parts. From the sound of that voice, it could only be Kock Out. Beside him was a certain pale ghost with bright blue hair that nearly matched the ribbon on Kev's gift for Shai. Naturally, it was his employee Nyreena. "I think that's the place, Fear." The alien spoke, pointing out the wee crowd before he began to walk over with Fear. As he walked, Kev gave a fleeting glance to the Park. Ah, it looked so nice this time of year...not as green as it usually was, but still rather lively. Most of the animals were heading to bed by now, but the park still made for a great view. Perhaps he'd take Shai up on his offer and look out over the balcony after all...

Kev approached the door, and gave the two already at the door a wave. "Hey, nice to see you Nyreena, Knock Out~!" He sent an extra wink Knock Out's way, snickering lightly. He had no real issue with the mech, but Fear did so love to tease him... Might as well help where he can! Kev looked around the area, as if trying to spy anymore party guests, before looking back to the dark front door. "We came at the right time, right...?" Maybe Shai was simply held up with the food.

Oh boy, a party! ...Was it still customary to kill people at parties?

A social butterfly Fear was not, but he was nevertheless excited to see what mischief would await him at a certain doctor's housewarming party. Who would be there? What food had Shai prepared? And, more importantly, would there be an opportunity to throw someone off the balcony and watch them splatter all over the awaiting pavement below? The ghoul's skeletal fingers happily curled around his housewarming gift just thinking about the morbid thought, plastic crinkling noisily. Oops! Don't want to crush the goods...

Heading from the residential district to the park hadn't been a difficult walk; though, really, Fear struggled to keep his pace sluggish enough so Kev could catch up. Mortals and their tiny gaits, alas! The route they had taken was incredibly scenic, not to mention colourful, and the scaly alien beside him seemed almost entranced by nature's transition from winter into spring. It was very lovely, yet Fear couldn't help but fixate his unwavering gaze upon a certain - ahem - sausage... "Hmhmhm..." Oh yes, the helmeted fiend was quite happy to see Knock Out there. Fun times ahead, gentlemen! But when those same ghostly eyes roamed elsewhere and located yet another guest... "Mm..." And thus, Fear no longer felt as enthusiastic as before. He grunted at Kev, hissing, "That isss the place, yessss. Unfortunately..." At least the mech would prove to be fitting sport, but the ghost-girl? Ugh! She was as interesting as watching paint dry, in his opinion.

Together, the two meandered their way over and Fear let Kev make with the greetings. The former wanted nothing more than to stand there all creepy-like with Shai's housewarming gift between his leathery, gargantuan mitts.

Shai better open that door right this instant, or so help him...

    Knock knock knock!

    Hope you're ready to party!

That unmistakable sound caught the doctor's attention almost instantly. Someone was knocking on the front door. That had to mean that his first guest had just arrived! And by the sound of things, his first guest was Knock Out. Before opening it and letting him in, though, Shaiamils made one last thorough scan of the party area. He nodded to himself. Again, everything seemed to be in perfect order. The feathery alien cut on his television to the Portal Breach news, and his stereo to a random station. If any of his guests wanted to change channels or station, they were more than welcome to.

Shaiamils made one last effort to straighten out any wrinkles in his clothing before making his way to the front door. What he noticed then was surprising to him. Not only was the mech there, but so too was Nyreena, Kev, and Fear. That was four guests at the door. Hopefully he didn't keep them waiting out there for too long!

"Hey, everyone! Come on in!" he said to them, opening the door. "I didn't keep you waiting for too long, did I? If I did, I apologize."

Post by Knock Out on Tue Mar 01, 2016 10:58 pm

A lot can happen in so short a time, a fact which became clear as the other party guests arrived within a minute of the mech's knock on the door. First to arrive was Nyreena, descending from the sky in a manner that seemed...odd for an organic. Ah, but she was not a normal organic, right? A tingle of deja vu in his processor told him as much. The former medic turned partially to face her, still keeping the majority of his body language facing the front door. He nodded his helm to her in greeting before he gave her a winning smile. "Absolutely! Can't wait to finally get to see how organics party." He imagined it involved a lot of drinks and food he couldn't partake in but alas. Hopefully there'd be other activities to busy himself with. Party games, music...

Next to walk up was a duo that Knock Out had become quite familiar with... They were semi-frequent customers to the Drive-In, and usually on their best behavior. Usually... Already, he could see mischief in the alien's cheery buggy eyes and Fear had made a rather amused little sound. As much as he felt a cringe, anticipating all of the 'Kock Out's and shenanigans, he couldn't help but find it amusing all the same. If Fear's antics really angered him, he'd never have agreed to come to this party. "Yes yes, nice to see you both. I think it is the right time, yes." As the mech took a better look at the two of them, his crimson optics narrowed. They both seemed to be...carrying something? One wrapped in plastic, the other in...wrapping paper? And Nyreena, she carried a bag. His optics widened in light alarm. "Wait, were we supposed to-?!"

Shaiamils wrote:"Hey, everyone! Come on in!"

Knock Out's body jolted, torso immediately turning and locking into place so that Knock Out's optics were fully on their host. Metal digits wiggled, suddenly feeling uncomfortably empty... "Oh no, not long at all!" Offering a big smile to their host, Knock Out stepped inside as the bird had requested, since he was taking up the doorway with his bulky frame. Into the hallway he went, continuing down it until it opened out into the actual living room. "Hm...!" The first thing to catch his optic was an odd sculpture that sat behind a couch. The mech stooped near it, admiring the odd shapes. Was it made of metal? Perhaps plaster? "Definitely abstract..."

Smiling at Knock Out's smile Nyreena nodded and replied to him, "Well, I sure hope that it's a wonderful experience for you." It wasn't too long after Nyreena had arrived that Kev and Fear showed up, bringing with them a housewarming gift each. Smiling at the thoughtful touch she said to Kev as they approached, "Hey Kev, hey Fear. It's good to see you too. And yes, it's the right time. I'm sure that Shai heard Knock Out at the door when he showed up and should be just about here."

And right then and there there was Shai opening the door to them saying hi and inviting them in. Smiling at Shai as she followed behind the mech inside she added to Knock Out's answer, "Yeah, it wasn't long at all. We pretty much showed up one right after the other, so it's all good." Following along to the living room she was blown away by how wonderful it looked. Looking over everything she said, "Wow Shai, this is amazing! Everything is absolutely gorgeous!"

Post by Kev on Fri Mar 04, 2016 3:39 am

Though Fear at first seemed quite pleased to find Shai's house, the ghoul's mood seem to plummet fast. A quick glance to the pale ghost was all Kev needed to understand why. A lean arm snaked around Fear's side, and the alien pressed close to Fear's chilly undead body. He squeezed lightly, his forehead nuzzling against Fear's arm and into the soft black shirt he had been wearing since obtaining this new body. "I can't wait to see Shai's face when he sees your gift!" Kev trilled, to keep Fear's mind off of more unpleasant territories. As they approached the door, Kev acted as the social grease for them both. The arm around Fear gave his thin body one more squeeze before the alien pulled it back into his own space. Both hands enclosed around the wrapped, cardboard box as greetings were exchanged. The mech and ghost both insisted that this was the right place, along with the right time. "Ah, good." Between 6 and 7, if Kev remembered right.

His head quirked to the side, eyes blinking between them as they spoke again. Primarily, his puzzled reaction was focused on the robot, who seemed surprised about something. Apparently he'd forgotten something. For him, the alin only offered a confused shrug. Nyreena insisted that Shai probably heard Knock Out at the door and would be along shortly. As if she were a pre-cog, their host appeared right at that moment. The door opened up, and Shai greeted them all excitedly, expressing apologies if they had been waiting long. Kev merely shook his head, as the other two had pretty much covered whether they waited a while or not. His attention was focused behind Shai, head cocking from one side to the next as he heard noises from various sources inside of the house. One sound was easy going music, rather pleasing to the ear. The other was a conversational voice, though between the music and the distance from the source, he could not rightly tell what the voice was saying. Another guest, maybe?

Alas, this wasn't a street-warming party! Too bad none of Shai's guests produced heat like a mammal, or else the house could be truly warmed. Kev followed behind the other two inside of the house, already finding a slight relief as the heat hit him. "Aah..." His nose moved in the direction of the ceiling, tipping his head back as he walked. Sniff, sniff... Ah, Shai had definitely put his kitchen to work! The aroma of cheese was heavy on the air, coiled with a more striking scent of garlic. Almost tickled at his nostrils, yet not in a bad way! A fresh and fruity smell hit him, along with... sniff... fish of some kind. Reminding himself to stay clear of the fish, Kev glanced around Shai's little living room. His body stayed at the edge of the room, eventually the alien backed himself up into the bar area and took a seat at one of the stools there.

"Hm!" Well wasn't this a cozy little nook? The alien set his gift down on the bar's counter, though a hand stayed on top of the gift as if claiming it as his own. He leaned forward onto the counter to better see the fish tank. His eyes eagerly followed the bobs and movements of the fish within the tank, little fins wavering about. How relaxing! Kev turned back to their host, almost excited. "I really like your fish, Shai!" Maybe not the best of pets, fish, but Kev could still admire them! The source of the voice from earlier was revealed to be from the telly, as Shai had it set on the news. Kev's attention was smitten by the plants that decorated the living room rather than the television set. Of particular interest were large yellow flowers in a potted plant, lingering in the corner of the living room. Kev pointed them out with one gloved finger, again looking to the feathery host. "What kind of flowers are those?"

Post by Fear on Fri Mar 04, 2016 6:08 am

    Bleeeeegh, there was the ghost-girl...

If anyone could see his face without dying a most horrible death and their name wasn't Kev, they'd see just how contorted Fear's expression of dismay had become. Truly, his grimace had ascended the current plane of existence and went off to cultivate worlds! Why oh why did she have to be here? It was bad enough tolerating her presence at Kev's music shop, ugh...

Lady Fortune was a fickle mistress, however, and true to her whimsical nature and ways, she had been generous enough to bestow upon the ghoul Knock Out. Oh, and Kev. Mustn't forget about Kev, because then the fiend would never hear the end of it. A bony hip nudged into the alien softly, Fear's unspoken gratitude relayed non-verbally. Well, so long as he didn't suffer in this alone... Misery loved company, right? And why in the bloody hell wasn't that door opened already!? "Bird-man!" hollered a most displeased Fear. It was nigh impossible tuning out his otherworldly voice. "Bird-man, you open the door thisss insssta - "

    ...Creeeeeak!

"Hey, everyone! Come on in! I didn't keep you waiting for too long, did I? If I did, I apologize."

    Finally.

"Took you long enough," Fear rasped, letting Kev and the others enter first. Blimey, didn't everyone know that it was rude to let one's guests linger outside for too long? And a minute was too long in the fiend's books. Regardless, he piped down and minded his manners while entering the good doctor's humble abode. Leathery feet stepped rigidly upon hardened wood as the ghoul surveyed his immediate whereabouts.

Hmm... this was certainly a modern design, if not a bit artistic. Knock Out had perhaps put it best. Jade walls... Pieces of artwork... A metal sculpture behind the living room couch... Yes, definitely contemporary. Fear didn't have any complaints or sassy remarks, though. So long as Kev was warm and enjoying himself, the towering undead could make do with Shai's questionable tastes in decor. He meandered a little further in and located the bar. This was going to be his favourite place, Fear could tell. Minus the fish tank, of course. Dreadful pets, fish... "I sssuppossse the aquarium isss a nice touch, yesss," the fiend remarked, tone dubious. His ghostly eyes soon focused elsewhere, most notably the television and then everything else in the living room. Fear easily overlooked the potted plants. He couldn't, however, ignore the second odd metal art piece situated in plain sight at the bar. A familiar tickle wormed in the back of Kev's head.

...I can't believe I'm sssaying thisss, but... I missss the 50'sss already. And who freaking missed the 50's, honestly? Guess Art Deco and Nouveau were things of the past, along with anything he was remotely familiar with.

    Phew!

"Good, good! Be sure to help yourselves to the food!"

Shaiamils let out a sigh of relief at the confirmation that he didn't keep his guests waiting after all. There was no need to apologize. Good. What kind of host would he have been if he had let them stand there in the cold like that for so long? Oh well, it was behind the doctor now, and he was very, very glad for that. His attention quickly fell on the mech, who had been inspecting his living room divider.

    Knock Out wrote:Hm...! Definitely abstract...

"Oh, that thing?" Shai traced on it with one of his claws. "I thought it would look good in here. Dividers are a nice touch, aren't they?

Nyreena wrote:Wow Shai, this is amazing. Everything is absolutely gorgeous!

The feathery alien turned to face Nyreena. He was positively beaming at the compliment.

"You really think so?" he asked her. "Thank you! It makes me so happy to hear you say that. And here I was worrying that I might be judged for my tastes.."

Kev wrote:I really like your fish, Shai!

Fear wrote:I sssuppossse the aquarium isss a nice touch, yesss.

"They're all cichlids," Shai informed them. "Discus, angelfish, oscars, firemouths, convicts... Yes, those black and white ones are actually called convicts. I've always been a fan of aquariums as decor, though they, as you probably know, are fairly high maintenance."

Kev wrote:What kind of flowers are those?

"Alas, I wouldn't know," the alien replied to the other, chuckling. "And they're all artificial plants anyways."

"Oh, I'm sure it'll be an experience of some kind..." The mech drawled with a light smirk. Admittedly, it felt nice to get out of his comfort zone. Knock Out was rather personable by nature, and getting most of your socializing through customers could only keep his interest for so long. His employees made for good conversation, but sometimes you really want to just...rub elbows with a new crowd. In a new setting, no less! This party was simply the best opportunity for that.

Fear's impatience had Knock Out grinning, even moreso when the fiend's ranting was cut short by their host opening the door. "Oh my~! Temper, temper, Fear!" A thin digit with a sharp end pointed in Fear's direction, shaking from side to side. Previous experience with Mortis kept his servoes at a distance from the former judge. "You really need to work on your patience. Personally, I suggest a self-help book from the library." He did so love to be a pill... Everyone entered the little house and soon began to fan out. The two love birds claimed a spot at the bar, while Shai fluttered about to converse with each of his guests.

One talon traced the sculpture, and Knock Out decided to follow Shai's lead. If their host was touching it, that meant it was fine, right? His own metallic digits traced the curves, rap-tapping against the material. So this was a divider...? "I wouldn't know," The crimson mech admitted with a shrug. "I've never had a living room before. If it is meant to divide the space between the living room and the kitchen, I suppose it does its job." He cast a glance over the side of his shoulder, to the kitchen in the corner of the room. No doubt, that was where the food Shai had insisted they partake in was. If the organics wanted to partake in the feast, they were welcome to.

Conversations in the background blurred as the former medic stepped away from the divider to further investigate the living area. Every step was rather noisy, metal shifting around with clicks and whirs. He tread as lightly as he possibly could, especially around the vases. The leafy greens that weren't so leafy after all, earned a curious prod. The mech peered into the fireplace and even gave the books in the bookshelf a browse until finally he'd made his rounds. Coming to a stop beside the bar, Knock Out leaned in close. His body positioned between the stools, he pretended to check out the aquarium, and all the little fishies inside. Like an actor working for an Emmy, he even reached a hand up to stroke his own chin in thought. In truth, his bright optics were all on Shai, waiting until his attention shifted away before Knock Out leaned in Fear's direction. With a whisper, the former Decepticon hissed to the fiend.

"I didn't know we were supposed to bring a gift! Since your little boytoy there has his own gift... Would you mind letting me put my name on your's?" Nothing in the world was free, alas, and he figured the ghoul may need some extra incentive. "I'll stop glitching at you about murdering me if you do this one thing..." Perhaps it was minor, but come on! How rude would Knock Out look, coming to a party and not even bringing a gift?

While they continued to wait outside it was clear that Fear was getting just a bit impatient waiting for Shai to come and let them in by the way he banged on the door and demanded their host to come and let them in. Listening to Knock Out as he chided Fear about his temper and that he really needed to work on his patience and suggested to get a self-help book from the library. Really not wanting to get into the middle of things Nyreena knew to keep her mouth shut and just let the two hash it out between them. Thankfully Shai had come to the door just in the nick of time before anything else could be said about things.

As she continued to look Shai's place over Nyreena heard the host ask if she really thought so and thanking her for her compliment, telling her that it made him happy to hear her say that and that he was worried that he would be judged for his tastes. Giving him a big smile she nodded and answered his question, "Yes, of course! I really think it suits you very well. After all, it's your home and you should decorate it they way you like it and I think it says that this is you all over." Listening as Shai explained about what kinds of fish he had in his aquarium she nodded in agreement about them being nice decor pieces and said, "I agree. I think that they give a calming effect to a room and makes things seem peaceful. Walking around a bit she continued to look things over, truly feeling proud for Shai and his accomplishment.

Nyreena and Knock Out seemed content to walk around the living area to take in every detail, whereas Fear and Kev both claimed a spot at the bar. That left Shai to divide his attention between four visitors at once, a feat which wasn't easy... The alien chuckled lightly, remembering the turn-out for the housewarming at the cottage. Fifteen guests to keep track of, two of whom were toddlers! Having Leslie as the other host was a boon, as she managed to greet and welcome anybody Kev had missed. Shai would be fine with four people on his own, right?

Though Kev owned many animals, fish were the only kind he had never owned. Turtles, livestock, little mammals... The former Judge almost sounded begrudging as he complimented the tank. The scaly alien snickered, returning his gaze to the fish as Shai identified their species. ...Not a single one of those were any fish he had ever heard of. Tuna, salmon, goldfish...maybe angelfish? But discus, firemouths, convicts?! Who names these kinds of fish?! "Ahaha...clever..." Kev chuckled weakly, eyes tracing the movements of the black and white fish. Fluttering little fins and gaping mouths... Big eyes that stared out from the tank. Perhaps the moniker of 'convict' was too apt. He let out a sympathetic hum, rather glad to not be born a fish. Less pets and more...living decoration. Only Shai's response about the flowers drew his attention away from the dreadful plight of fish, blinking curiously. "Oh! I see... I thought those flowers looked a little...bright." Made up for the high maintenance of the aquarium, though!

A light tickle squirmed in the back of Kev's mind, pupils flicking to the direction of Fear. He kept back a chuckle, merely crossing one arm over the other and straightening his back. Yeah? Suppose the style of Shai's new home was after Fear's time! Leslie's style was...older fashioned, and Livewire had helped pick furniture for the house. To the scaly alien's eye, the house looked alright...for the most part. The paintings are very...colorful. Same for the rug and chandelier. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but... He shrugged lightly enough, that it may have looked as if he were merely shifting his weight. The corner of Kev's eye caught a blotch of crimson, one that was moving. In the room that was primarily cool colors, it stuck out! Combine that with the semi-familiar sound of a robot walking... "Hello, Knock Out. Enjoying the party?" Situating himself between Kev and Fear, Knock Out seemed to be admiring the aquarium... At first, anyway. As he began to whisper to Fear, the alien raised a scaly brow.

"Since your little boytoy there has his own gift..."

Boytoy?! That earned the mech a simmering glare and a hiss of a retort. "I'm right here, Kock Out." What a lazy bum! Didn't think to bring a gift, and now he wanted to piggy back off of Fear's? And boytoy...  Peh! Arms crossing over his chest snugly, he stole a glance at Fear over the broad width of Knock Out's torso. The former medic obviously had no idea what Fear's gift was, nor the deeper meaning that came with it... If he did, he wouldn't dare try to share the gift. Would the ghoul graciously allow Knock Out the honor of being co-gifter?

"Oh my~! Temper, temper, Fear! You really need to work on your patience. Personally, I suggest a self-help book from the library."

    Oh lord...

Fear told himself to behave. In fact, he told himself multiple times to behave. This was a housewarming party, he was out and about spending the evening with Kev, and - oh, screw it! The fiend was never good with social norms anyway. "And how about you jussst put a cock in it, huh?" he snorted right back. Bang, bang! Shots fired, baby. "I'd recommend you mine, but..." An impish chuckle escaped Fear's throat, the ghoul letting the implication purposely hang. "I'm afraid your mouth jussst issn't big enough. What a crying ssshame..." Still like rubbing elbows with the crowd, mech?

And what in justice's name was a cichlid? Sounded like something a lab rat like his brother would know.. Fear removed his eyes off the bright-red Cybertronian and listened as the doctor began listing off several of the colourful species in his aquarium, mildly confused. Discus, angelfish, oscars, firemouths, and convicts...? Sinners and their names for things. "I don't ssuppossse there are Judgesss too, huh?" he remarked, facetious. Now the fiend began wondering if creatures so boring as fishes could willfully commit crime... Tempting, very tempting to skewer a fish on one of his nails and interrogate it, but the helmeted fiend thought twice about touching something... slimy and wet, ugh! Well, that's not true... he liked touching a few slimy and wet things, but a fish? Ew, the gulping creatures were just a pinch out of his comfort zone. How anyone found them entertaining or pet-worthy was beyond Fear. As with Knock Out earlier, he took his gaze elsewhere, away from the fish and their mesmerizing scales, and feigned interest in... in... um, the ceiling! Yes, the ceiling, and that's exactly where Fear stared.

The paintings are very...colorful. Same for the rug and chandelier. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but...

Kev, mate, thisss isss what you call a bachelor pad. Seriously! That had to be the reason why Shai decorated his place like he was a college student high on life (and drugs). I mean, c'mon - he'sss got fake plantsss, Fear pointed out. Fake plants, clashing colours for the walls and decor, contemporary art sculptures and paintings, useless fish... Yep, this was totally a bachelor pad.

...Did that mean Shai was seducing them?

Before the ghoul could go down the rabbit hole on that one, a certain mech with equally questionable tastes came sidling up with a hiss. What did Knock Out want now? Couldn't he see that Fear was busy studying the doctor's ceiling? It was a hard enough job as it was...

"I didn't know we were supposed to bring a gift! Since your little boytoy there has his own gift... Would you mind letting me put my name on yours? I'll stop glitching at you about murdering me if you do this one thing..."

    Boy-toy, huh~?

"Hu hu! Oh, don't be ssso ssstiff, Kevvy-kinsss..." After all, you were the, ahem, boy-toy~! And good boy-toys don't scrunch up their pretty faces and ruin the allure. Fear was immensely satisfied with the mech's bravado (it was totally the insult he threw Kev's way) and he wrapped a lanky arm around Knock Out all buddy-buddy-like. "I don't know..." he pretended to sigh, dejectedly holding up his meager plastic bag. It was rustled for good measure, as if the crinkling sound would entice the mech's desperation further. "It'sss... It'sss, eh, a sssmall gift. A very heartfelt token from yoursss truly. I don't know if you'd really be interesssted in sssomething ssso... ssso..." Fear gestured as he sought a certain word. He he... you weren't the only one at the Oscars, friend-o!

Finally, he found it, a smile riding on his otherworldly voice. "...Plain," the fiend rasped sweetly. "I think it would do you a great disssservice to ssshare sssuch a boring and otherwissse sssimple gift, but if you don't have anything when you really ssshould have brought one..." his voice trailed. Oh look, suddenly Fear's fingernails were of great interest.

    Hook, line, aaaaand...
