    WHAP!

"Yeah, that's more like it! Keep it up!" Ola cheered. She was clearly starting to get into this. Or, more accurately, she was already into this.

"Yeah, I was wondering where all that trademark Papyrus gusto went." Spents concurred, rubbing at the new, painful scuff mark. Truthfully, the alien felt as he was on his last leg... Tail? He was still okay in terms of physical well-being, but he was getting seriously tired, worn out. With every new swing of his pitchfork, his arms ached more and more. How much longer could he keep this up? Still, keep fighting til the very end, right?

    Swing!

A terrifying series of blows! It wasn't as if Papyrus' gusto had gone anywhere, he was simply being beaten! Hard to believe, I know. But you can't win them all. He knew that very well, considering that he never succeeded in catching a human before. But you can win some of them, and that meant never giving up! Even if Spenst's strikes walloped him, he's always come back strong.

"It's time to return to basics! With a Basic Attack!" Never failed him before. But how sure could he be that it would succeed? He didn't know, he just grabbed the bone and chucked it, as always.

    "Gah!"

Yes, clearly Spenst was experiencing the detriments of that magical force known as fatigue. Why else would he be slipping up on his dodging? He was doing so well earlier! The alien sighed. His pitchfork wasn't helping matters either. By now it felt as if he was trying to hold onto an anvil. Truly he was going to have to be rid of it for now.

"Can you hold onto this for me, Ola?" the specter asked his mummy friend, handing over his weapon.

    "Sure thing."

And so, without further ado, Spenst threw a punch at his skeletal opponent. It was all he could really do, after all. But even still, his arms ached.

"You know, Papyrus. If you wanted, we could take a break for a minute. How's that sound?"

Was his enemy... growing tired? Could ghosts do that? He didn't have an awful lot of time to think about it as the spectral fist went sailing his way, but he missed his target by a sluggish margin. His fatigue was cutting into his combat capability, something that the skeleton found peculiar. Papyrus felt just fine. Maybe more than a little dinged up but otherwise, just fine! He could probably do this all day, or at least until that mystical HP meter hit 0. Then he'd clock out and throw in the towel but it seemed as though Spenst was already in the midst of doing just such a thing! How curious; Papyrus had never once fought someone who needed to stop for a breather half-way through. It was a little weird but as the gears slowly turned in his head, he began to come to a different conclusion.

"A break? From our super-intense combat? Well, I could be persuaded..." He rubbed his chin, but quickly posed dramatically once more, a bony finger pointed at the ghost's face. "BUT YOUR REAL MOTIVES ARE EASY TO READ! Nyeh-heh-heh! Have no fear, nobody ever beats the Great Papyrus! I accept your surrender! He crossed his arms, looking as smug with his grand smile. It would be a victory in his favor if his enemy stopped fighting, right? That's how this worked, right? He really needed to get into more fights.

Or just, you know. Get out more.

"Heh, surrender?" Spenst asked between breaths, chuckling. "We're not done here yet. I just needed a break is all. Then we can pick this back up. Still, I appreciate that you're even willing to let me have this break. Thank you."

And with that, the alien specter plopped down on a nearby bench, curling up on it. His mummy friend took a seat next to him.

"You know, if you wanted to later, maybe we could go out to eat somewhere? For some real spaghetti."
Ola suggested. "Seeing that Spenst had to go and get your hopes up for it, I mean."

"Oh come on, now. Even you have to admit it was a smart move."

    "Mean, yes, but smart."
