    Act I: Movies? Why not?

Post by Alasdair & Sutekh on Wed Sep 30, 2015 2:28 am

    16:45 || September 12th, Year 6

You'd think being rather old, at least a few millenia, would make something like taking a girl out on the town be rather easy and seem flawless, but to be honest, Sutekh wasn't prepared for Cailia to say "sure". Sending Alasdair in his stead, the Jiangshi had asked the woman if she'd accompany the beastman on a night out and, to his surprise, she accepted the offer. Both excitement and a strange sense of nervousness overcame him as he adjusted his coat and pant-legs and applied a small dash of cologne. His outfit wasn't too formal; a loose coat and simple pants, the hat was changed and adjusted accordingly to fit while working well with his current attire. A few words were exchanged between himself and Alasdair, and the beastman had left his home to meet Cailia by the docks to escort her about the city on their outing.

Greetings were exchanged, and no doubt some witty cracks to one another as they set off and to their first stop. It wasn't something Sutekh ever really indulged in, but it sounded fun, and he did want to see what it was all about, after all. With some twists and turns and having no general idea where he was going, the beastman wound up carrying Cailia on his shoulders with ease as he walked around the outside of the city limits, trying his hardest to figure out where this new... outdoor movie thing... was. But, after an hour or two and much agitation, the Drive-In Theatre was in view, and with some panting, he successfully led them to their first destination.

"Huh... huh... okay... I found it..." Sutekh said with a huff as he kneeled down, allowing Cailia to step off of him. "Uhnn... Never been here, sorry I got us lost a bit." Looking over the place, hands on his hips, the beastman didn't seem too terribly impressed so far. A bunch of vehicles with people sitting and around and staring at a big screen... with overpriced food. Sounds like a successful business! "Didn't think I'd need a car. You can sit on my shoulders if it comes down to that." Giving Cailia a small nudge with his elbow and a smile, Sutekh walked past a few of the vehicles as he tried to find a nice place to sit. But really, on the ground, it all seemed so cramped. It was better higher, and with no real option, the beastman climbed to the top of the concession stand, assisting his lady friend up to the top. "This is MUCH  better," he said as he sniffed in the air that reeked of popcorn and sugary snacks, surveying the area and taking note of the good spot.

"I  have no idea what's playin', so hopefully it's nothing too horrible. And if it is, we can just..." he paused, adjusted his seating arrangement and leaned over the side, looking at all the sugary foods and terrible treats below, "... we can just bother people instead. I bet I could get a few pieces of popcorn into non-convertibles." At least there was some kind of back up plan, even if it was for teenagers and 12 year olds. Though he held a small toothy smile, the beastman was feeling a little unsure and nervous, though he kept it to himself and hid it well. He kept telling himself there was no reason to feel anything like that, and this wasn't anything serious.

They were just having a fun date, and he was completely fine, and happy, with just that.

Her first thought aside from being a witty comments after stepping off the boat was to give Sutekh a good long look over. He cleaned up nicely, she decided, very nicely though she did miss his big tall hat for some reason.  Much like he had advised her to do, Cailia had toned down her outfit a little  to be a pair of flat boots, black jeans and a large white sweater paired with a scarf. It wasn't typical wardrobe but it was nice she figured.

As they walked through the city, Cailia enjoyed being up on Sutekh's shoulder, it was great too look down on everyone and not to have to walk. Frankly, she enjoyed it a lot better than walking and gave subtle pats upon his head to avoiding giving an enthused leg kick accidentally to his face. Finally arriving at the drive in, thankfully before the poor guy collapsed, she wasn't going to ask if she was too heavy because she definitely wasn't. He needed more cardio, leg day and cardio were very important.

Sliding from beastman's shoulder with a small grunt she gave the place a look of scrutiny. She had never been to a movie theater, nor did she know what it really was. Luckily the Queen of Avalon did know what TV was, so the assumption was this was a really big outdoor TV player. "Aw Sutes, don't you worry.  It was a fun ride~." She smiled up to him, not elaborating and the double meaning, partly to see if it would fly over his head as per usual. Humming she tilted her head, staring at the cars parked and waiting for the movie to start. What was it with people are cars, she didn't even know how to drive. Walking was pretty fine for her, that and boat rides. "Who needs cars anyway. I mean, I arrived here on you, so that's like a car anyway." Hands setting on her hips as she gave the lay of the land a once over, turning back to face Sutekh to wonder where they were to park their asses only to find him climbing atop the building with food. of course he'd choose the spot closest to the food.

Cailia shook her head, stepping over to the side, gripping his hands and minding her feet not to slip and lead to an embarrassing fall.  Settling next to him on the top, she stretched her legs out and looked up to him then to the screen. The view was a lot better up here, now that they had settled in. "Well what would you know, it is better up here. Though will you be okay being so close to food?" Food was always a go to for him, and Cailia being the little priss wanted to be dead center, not food. Why? Because she definitely tried to gussy up nicely and didn't want that to go unappreciated. "I'm curious to see what it is, I've never watched a movie before. Though if its boring, by all means, peg people with popcorn, it'll be a laugh either way." Shifting once more, Cailia brought her arm to rest on Sutekh's leg, leaning onto him for comfort as they waited. Though there was something else she was curious about. "Any reason you chose the movies for a night of 'debauchery'?" From what the hybrid was seeing, it was all family friendly for the most part.

Ahh, that classy flirtatious tone. Something about it hit the ear just right! And so did the car compliment. Sutekh couldn't help but flex one of his arms to take a look, and he nodded in agreement, "yeah, I'd have to say that's true... especially since cars are kinda feeble." The Beastman leaned over to her a bit with a small smile, "I'll have to show off how easily I can wreck one of those metal boxes with wheels, but not here--that'd be rude." Hey, he was a little considerate of others! These people paid to come in and see a movie, not him wreck a car into tiny pieces. Even if it would probably be entertaining, it's doubtful they'd like it.

And of course he chose the spot closest to the food! While the concession guy was busy, that prehensile tail would unfurl and grab a few things in their stead, sneakily bringing them stolen treats. "Me? I'll be fine... I've got a lovely lady in my company, food is the last thing on my mind!" It was partially true--the scents were a tad overwhelming and though he was taking some foodstuffs from the stand below, he was certainly sharing it, as his tail placed a large box of popcorn between them. Sutekh had a bit more control than what most gave him credit for, but he wasn't offended... most of the time. "By the by... you look nice in that..." She looked so... smol. And cute.

Never seen a movie? That made two of them. Sutekh shrugged, "I have no idea either, but there aren't a lot of kids around... which is nice." He had no idea how to even look up what films were playing, it was more so chance that they arrived just before the film was starting. Lucky them! But, at least Cailia wasn't upset by the suggestion of pegging people with popcorn, which made him feel a bit better, his tension loosening up and his tail slightly swaying, waiting for another chance to grab the Queen a drink from the stand below. The film before them was starting, the lights around the dimming down as the screen showed a "thank you for not smoking/please turn off your cellphones" notice, and faded to black.

The film began with an introduction-recap of what was going on; Europe seemed in turmoil and with some shocking scenes, the title appeared. "V for Vendetta? Hmm... this might actually be good..." It also explained the lack of children about--the film looked like it was gonna be dark. Pleased with this result, the tension finally faded from Sutekh as the film continued the story. Cailia asked why the movies, and Sutekh looked blank for a moment before looking down at her, "it's not really to do much debauchery now... just sort of relax and... get a feel, I guess? No pressure or anything... then as we progress, see what happens... ya know?" He of course had things planned out, but anything could really happen tonight; plans don't always turn out, now do they?

The beastman's tail finally appeared besides Cailia with a large cherry soda as it set it down beside her and slinked away, preparing for another sneaky grab...

"Feeble, huh? That would be a word for it." Sure you could blow a car up and it would explode into hot bits of pieces of death. But a normal car going a decent speed could kill a man. Useful either way. Snorting with laughter she tilted her head to look up him with amusement, it almost seemed like he was trying to impress her. "Try to reign in the urge to be manly, I want to see the movie and now have a giant robot trying to stick his foot up my ass for making a scene." KnockOut might be sassy but he also was a huge robot who owned this place. Better to play safe.

Food was the last thing on his mind? If there ever was a lie uttered in her very presence, it would be that food was never far from Sutekh's mind or mouth. "Mmmmm..." She up at him, a brows raised and drawn together to express the disbelief. "You suuuuure about that?" And lo, she was not dissapointed when there was a box of pop corn between them. "So far it was close, huh?" But hey, it was food and possibly a weapon to get caught in the other patrons hair. That was a bonus, right? Cailia reached a hand out to take some popcorn but paused when the beastman complimented her. Looking at the screen before them, even the halfing couldn't hide a lopsided smile that settled on her face. Geniune compliments were new, and probably a first but she was ignoring that. "Thanks Sutekh, you look good too. It suits you." Smol but dangerous unless there was offerings of food or nice words. Or hair petties.

Cailia knocked the tips of her boots together idly, readjusting herself while she leaned on him. He had a pretty decent reason with kids not being about to scream, yell and be general detriments to society. "At least it'll be quiet, till people start moaning about popcorn in their hair and cars when they themselves had none." She said before finally popping a piece of popcorn in her mouth, contented with the crunchy and salty taste. Chewing while what appeared to be the opening for the movie rolled, the general gist for her was that it was going to be a bad time all around for the people in the movie. Suffering was funny only if it wasn't you. She shrugged in response at first. "If anything, the name is catchy." It was a terrible thing to base quality on, but for Cailia it meant something. And it also sounded like a woman so that was even BETTER. Girl power and whatever.

She snorted and nudged him with her elbow but much lighter at mentions of debauchery. "A little too early for debauchery anyway. But-" Cailia paused and rested her head on arm, eyes glued to the big screen before them before continuing speaking, "I think that you have a good idea about all this. You are pretty cautious aren't you? Not that it's bad...just...haaahh..." She paused again caught on the right words to use, "Strange." Was the lame finish the train of thought. The half-demon scrunched up her face after a second passed, it had come out differently than she had intended. Usually she never felt nervous, it was all too easy to slip into a  near constant state of pure, unadulterated self-confidence. Or at least fake so hard that you forgot you were faking it that when everything was put down you had no idea what you were doing. "I mean, it's new. Not that it is bad. Just new." Thankful that his tail had delivered her a sugary savior, she picked up the soda with her free hand and uttered out a quick thanks before taking in a large sip to give reason to not open her mouth again.
