The doctor's beak hung agape at the damage done by Livewire's mantrap. It actually broke off his bottom jaw! He was about to voice his approval when Syrus unleashed yet another tirade of bullets on the group. Again, the avian had managed to dodge with relative ease. Given the pain that he was in, this was pretty surprising. He was just about to attack again when he heard a familiar, booming voice. It was Fear, and he had some big news to share. Apparently he had acquired some liquid that would kill the skull-headed bandit, but he would need to be immobilized if he was going to administer it. It would seem that he had managed to talk down the other bandits, too.

The feathered alien thought for a moment. He had an idea, but it would come with the price of another major burn. The former military birdman took a deep breath. It was a necessary price to pay if they wanted to bring down this brute.

And so without another thought, Shaiamils positioned himself behind the skull-headed bandit. From there, he lunged at him with the intention of pinning him to the ground. He made contact, and it burned like hell. Just how long would he be able to keep this up?

It hit!  Livewire took a moment to feel just a little pride that her attach made contact with Syrus, and even managed to knock his jaw clean off!  Oh boy!  He was coming apart, maybe they could get through this without someone getting really hurt, well other than the ones that they were trying to hurt.  The femme yanked the mantrap back into her hand as she did her best, her best, to keep her mind clear.  She felt sick, she felt scared, as this aura’s affect was digging up her own issues that, really she just needed to take some time and address them.

“But boy, your souls are really rowdy and powerful, huh? I should take them for myself after I kill you all!"

Oh.  That, that tickled at something.  Just the fringes, the weeding roots of a memory that had torn Livewire’s mind so asunder that shreds of it infiltrated her soul even though the main event had been locked away beyond her reach by careful, putrid hands.  But the threads remained, wrapped around every swell of fear as Syrus’s words registered to the child.  Really, she had known early on that they were after souls, but it took Syrus saying it for it to finally click. ”No.”

The femme was stopped, but the raising of a gun towards her made her dart to the side, then forward as she ran up towards Syrus.   “No.”  A child’s hand wielded the polished metal of the Mantrap, swinging it like a club towards the jawless skull.  She wasn’t feeling up to shouting her disapproval, and her entrapment within the tendrils of something lost kept her from hearing.  She barely saw the rush of feathers before Livewire dove after the skeletal man as well, ignoring the searing pain that ripped through her hands as she struck.  Well, this seemed to be one time she could try to use her obnoxious weight to her advantage.

With each hit against Syrus, Nessa song had grown even stronger, until of course when the Judge above (hallowed be thy name) spoke onto them about the weakness of thy foes. Oh, this should definitely be more fun. Nessa hasn't had a good hold down and drink your medicine session in quite some time! She watches the others carefully, letting her last song echo out and wane until there was nothing, but not before.

    K-KOW

Nessa's eyes blink twice as she stops, her aura spasming like a group of tentacles around an octopus as it gets skewered. She looks down at her abdomen, where blood is pouring out in pints. Oh that's a lovely shade. The family around her, each rat, hisses as it comes into view, thousands strong, the small magic enhanced creatures flare their eyes and screech at the bone-headed idiot that dare touches their Mother.

As Livewire dives in, Nessa's eyes burn hot red, her aura seeping deep within the Mischief before she brings her flute to her lips, the normal frantic tone of the Song of Swarms slows, a creeping note along with another off-key sustained chord. As if two people were playing the flute.

To that, one wave of rats follows behind Livewire, around Syrus's anklebones, biting through and ripping him down to hold him. And in a small thought of rage, Nessa ups her pace, sending yet another wave of rats to do the same thing. Like a tidal wave the aim to smother him in the aura of gore, enraged rats gnawing away at the bone body of Syrus.

Well everything certainly seemed to be going to hell in a handbasket didn't it? The more they attacked the more desperate Syrus became. But to not attack would no doubt mean certain death, and yet if they continued to attack no one could say for certain what exactly would happen. Sonia was reminded of corrupted X and how everyone had continued to attack and follow the same old routine.

And where had that gotten them?

Well it had gotten them with a face full of alpha for one, practically everyone they knew dead, and pretty much the almost complete destruction of existence. Syrus probably wouldn't be so large scale, but that didn't mean that they wouldn't get screwed over if they messed this whole thing up by doing the wrong thing. And then, the faintest whispers came to her mind, and oh they were most unwanted. Sonia's entire body tensed at the feeling of the Judges caress, was repulsed by it, she wanted to blot it out, but he had brought forth good news. Or, at least better news. A plan it seemed was in the works, they merely had to get Syrus immobilized.

"Livewire hold off!" Sonia yelled, hoping that the robotic girl hadn't broken Syrus' skull wide open. She rushed to the cybertronian's side as her horde swarmed forward to help Nessa's children in subduing Syrus.

And just like that, their Gifts were reactivated. The symbols on Boon's arm glowed along with the ones on Collins' wings, but they didn't really do anything in regards to it. While Judge Fear told the others what to do to Syrus, Collins was wondering if now would be a good time to just leave. They had little else to offer and with Syrus gone, they'd most likely have to figure out what to do with themselves. Boon, however, was just drinking the terrible beer that Judge Fear spat out. Not like they had much else to do! But when the Judge came back from his little mental-trip, he inquired as to whether or not they may help. He left the decision up to them, and then went into the hidey hole, only to make a smart-remark about their selection of beer.

The two were left to their thoughts and own actions, though neither of them made a move for some time. If they went down their, and the barrier was still up, they'd be susceptible to attacks. On the other hand, they knew where it was. And though Syrus wasn't exactly the best individual, he was once their friend, and allowing him to die without having him realize a few things would be rather uncouth, wouldn't it? Not to rub it in, but hoping for something to remind the undead daemon of what was once and now is gone. "Come on, let's go say 'good-bye'..." Collins waved his hand towards Boon and went into the direction of the hidey hole where Judge Fear had entered, and the other followed.

    "HAHAHAHA!"
That annoying laugh sounded like a mixture of a dog's bark and hyena's cackle, and it just kept echoing through the chamber as Syrus mocked them all. He knew what would happen if they managed to kill him; they'd go down in the process, and he was welcome to that, but he felt something odd and immediately went quiet for a brief second. It was a psychic energy, and he didn't know where it was coming from, but he knew it did something, as everyone attempted to try and grapple him rather than attack. "What? Scared to attack me? Come on, hit me, you fucks!" Alasdair's chain missed and Sutekh's grappling move was a bust, along with Shai's own attempt to pin him down.

Livewire, however, attacked him, and though she pinned part of his body, it was what he wanted. A few more hits and the idiots would all go up, is what he thought, and though he could remove Livewire easily despite her weight, Nessa's rat parade and the lobsters caught him as well, and he was immobile once more... but for only a short amount of time. "What, don't want to hit me? Come on, you idiots, let's go! Kill me already! I'm ready to go!" He didn't bother to squirm or attempt to remove any of the little ankle-biters, snippers or Livewire, he just allowed them to do whatever they thought was effective. Just a few more good hits, and it'd all be over...

But out in the corridor where Judge Fear would most likely emerge soon, Collins and Boon were walking towards the group, but remained out of sight until the Judge himself sprung forward. It was not something they would enjoy seeing, but it would've been done eventually, no matter by who's hand it was. Maybe it felt better to have strangers do it than having to do it themselves, but it wouldn't really matter in the end, anyway.

That feeling would always be there, in the back of their minds.

    COLLINS

    Weakness: ???

    COLLINS
    - Has followed Judge Fear down below, but is remaining out of sight.
    - Has regained his Gift, and cannot be attacked by normal means.
    - Cannot be targeted.

    BOON
    - Has followed Collins and Judge Fear down below, and is also remaining out of sight for now.
    - Has regained his Gift, and cannot be attacked by normal means.
    - Cannot be targeted.

    SYRUS
    - The barrier has been brought down! It will take 1 turn for him to regain his Gift.
    - Special attacks can only be done once every five turns (1 turn left).
    - Syrus' body feels like it's burning! If you attack PHYSICALLY, you'll take some damage. Think hard on your attacks and see if attacking physically is worth the damage!
    - Syrus has been pinned! He cannot attack, but only for a single round.

    _____________

That sickening aura is still active, and has gotten thicker and worse! Because you all are experiencing an oppressive and weighted darkness upon you, all of your attacks require an additional accuracy coin. Your health is slowly being depleted as well, and you will have 5 points of your health removed every turn now!

The longer it takes you to defeat Syrus, the more more health will be taken from you. It will bump up 1 point of health each turn that Syrus is still alive and kicking... so to speak.

If 2 or more coins are HIT, then your attack HITS. Nessa's extra Accuracy Coin has increased your chances.

It's highly recommended that you do not do damage to Syrus any further. If you decide to (for whatever reason), it will take now 6 turns to destroy the rune... but you should probably wait.

Please wait for Judge Fear; another GM post will happen shortly...

"What, don't want to hit me? Come on, you idiots, let's go! Kill me already! I'm ready to go!"

Ask and you shall receive, friend.

From the darkness of the tunnel emerged Judge Fear, the eerie glow within his helm a beacon of ill-tidings. What have we here, hmm? In the midst of the ritual chamber lied an immobilized Syrus. Listen to that cocky lawbreaker, guffawing like some mangy beast... Ghostly eyes took little interest and instead studied his captors. Atop the doomed bandit sat a medley of unlikely heroes: rats nibbled at his ankles in droves; lobsters smothered him where the rats had not; and Livewire, with the weight of a bloody bus, had thought it fitting to turn Syrus into her derriere's personal parking space. That shall do nicely, yes.

"Sss..." A chilly hiss announced the ghoul's official arrival as he shambled forward, locating Syru's business end beneath the teeming clump of animals and Livewire. The air plummeted into a biting cold as the Dark Judge's focus intensified upon the criminal before his rotten feet. Ten quiet seconds passed before he finally rasped, "The undead are pure; virtuousss. They are to be held innocent before the eyesss of the law." There was a pause, signaling an inner conflict within Judge Fear's enigmatic psyche. "You, however, are an exception to that law. You harmed an innocent, you thought to sssteal sssoulsss that do not belong to you, and you deliberately fired upon an officer of the law. An example mussst be made. For your heinousss crimesss and for taking it upon yourssself to act like the living, I hereby sssentence you... to death." It was not a verdict he gave lightly. How can their one true law stand if the undead themselves behaved in such an odious manner?

There was a squeaky - pop! - as the Dark Judge opened the vial given to him, its translucent liquid visible to all.

No more words, for this was a dark task. A task he took no inherent pleasure in. Judge Fear knelt down before Syrus and went about the unhappy business of rubbing out the bandit leader's rune. He dipped a portion of his tattered cape into the mixture and forced Syrus' skull upward with a decrepit hand for maximum efficiency. This may take a while, as the Dark Judge was thorough in his work.

The Judge appeared with jingling chains and a hiss as he shambled his way over to Syrus, where he was pinned rather well to the ground. The glowing pupils in his eyes darted towards Fear, with nary a worry or care, and happened to be silent for a while as the undead Lawman spoke. He told him that the undead were virtuous and pure, and are innocent before the eyes of the Law. Syrus didn't bother asking what law this guy was talking about as he continued on, stating that he had been a very bad person on multiple accounts, and this 'undead' rule would not accept him for his 'crimes'. At this, Syrus began to laugh, "... Ah... hahahah.... hahaHAHAHAH!" Maybe he thought it was funny, or that this was all a joke, but for whatever reason, all he did was laugh. He immediately stopped, however, when he heard the pop of the vial and saw the liquid inside.

"!!!" then, and only then, did he begin to squirm. "Xabupyuwq! Where did you get that!?" There were sick cracking sounds as Syrus attempted to disjoint his body in an attempt to squirm away before his answer came to him. "I gave it to him." Syrus whipped his skull over to see Collins and Boon walk out from the corridor and his body flared up, bright green and hot, "FUCKING TRAITORS! You were going to do this shit all along!? I should've shot the lot of you when I had the chance!" Boon gave a disgusted frown and seemed hurt by the comment more so than Collins, "ya kind of dug yerself into it." "Yes, you did. You lied to us and hurt us a lot. I think this is enough for all of the pain and suffering you caused not only to us, but to those several thousands of people you probably killed."

"You make me sick, you fucking crybabies! You were on board when we had to do the ritual for the Shaper, weren't you!? You did it anyway! Now you're going all nice just because of some no bodies!?" Judge Fear knelt down, and if Syrus could, he'd spit on the Judge's helm. Skull held up, the rune was exposed--it was right between his eye sockets, and the closer one got to it, the more sick they felt, the screams they could hear inside of it. It wasn't a good feeling being close to it, whether you were alive or undead. "GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!!" No amount of thrashing could free him--if he could focus, he could probably knock everyone back, but there was obvious panic in his voice and his body movement, like how an animal acted before they died; no rational thoughts.

The other bandits said nothing as the rune was wiped and the shouting and yowling that Syrus made finally came to a stop as a bright, green burst suddenly shone itself.

    SHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

The chamber became amplified by the sound of thousands of screams at once as the souls escaped the rune and dissipated. Two of them, smaller ones, actually went to the other bandits and entered their body. But the rest, they exited through the ground and flew up, up, up into the sky until there was nothing.

    Spoiler:

And thus, Syrus was dead. His skull was still intact, but his body became dust, leaving nothing but his clothes and whatever else he had on his person. Collins and Boon merely stood there and looked down at the skull until Boon went over and crushed it under his boot. "Stupid... jackass..." his voice was hinted with sadness and anger, but Collins went over to pick up the Golden Gun that Syrus left, and tossed it elsewhere. It was free game, now. He cared not who took it, nor what became of it. It wasn't something he wanted around.

But now, it was time to address the people who went out of their way and stupidly bravely fought against Syrus.

"I don't care if you have questions, I'm not really inclined to answer them, but I have a few things I'd like to say to all of you." Always a good start.

"First of all, I need to apologize for the damage you've received from fighting Syrus--and Boon to a degree--and what he may have said or done. You should know, though, that he was never always like that. Power was his weakness. And as you've seen, power will eventually corrupt and destroy you." Lesson learned, hopefully. "Second, it was never our original intention to bring forth a daemon here; to be frank, it probably wouldn't have worked and would've killed us in the process. So I guess I should be thanking you all for that. Third, if you must know why the two of us didn't bother doing anything against Syrus, it was because we couldn't; he owned us, a small portion of our souls, and we could not attack or kill him. The vial could've still been used but..." Collins started to trail off as he tugged on his gloves, trying his best to avoid eye-contact.

"We didn't wanna kill 'im. He was our friend. But he started to change. We would've done it eventually." Boon grabbed a few things from Syrus' body before walked over to Collins and, though it was hard to tell, gave everyone the eye-contact that Collins felt he couldn't. Perhaps out of shame or guilt. "... If you wanna kill us, we understand, but we ain't goin' to go down easy." Right, their Gifts were back, weren't they? "On the other hand... if you'd be so kind as to just let us go, we promise t'never bother any of you again." They didn't exactly know where they would go to, but it'd be better than living in a hole...

"We don't want the treasures we've accumulated since being here. You can have it and distribute it among yourselves." Not like they needed it, anyway, and they certainly couldn't have used it to begin with since it was all stolen. The group could surely find some interesting things, though, if they looked hard enough.

    "What'dya say?"

Syrus is dead! You've beaten the leader of the bandits. The aura has been lifted, and you can all breathe easily. You are no longer suffering DOT.

The two remaining bandits, Collins and Boon, have explained a few interesting things, and have asked if you'd be so kind as to let them go. Remember; they are enhanced with their Gift, and as such, fighting them probably isn't a good idea.

They've stated that you're free to grab as much gold or treasures (usually gems and jewelry) as you can find around the place.

You have stumbled upon six TREASURE items and the remaining bandits are willing to share! The loot in question is as follows: GOLDEN GUN, DESTINY KNOT, FOCUS SASH, LIFE ORB, SCOPE LENS, and SOOTHE BELL.

    Ooh, shiny!

When rolling for loot, please state the item and roll a Level 96 - 100 die. If more than one person rolls for the same item, it goes to the character with the highest roll. You may only win ONE item per character. Once your character has won an item, please do not roll for a second. If you wish to trade with another character, PM or message their RPer and see if they are interested. Good luck and cross your fingers! Diceor is a stingy bastard.

Note: item special effects are hidden until the winner receives their loot. It's a mystery!

The femme landed her hits, her strikes, before using her own body as a weapon as Syrus just kept talking and talking and she just wanted him to be quiet, to just be quiet.  The child’s hand raised, hefting the mantrap that she fully intended to bring down once more upon Syrus.

    ”Livewire hold off!”

The child froze.  She didn’t know why the order was given, but she froze all the same.  It would take the familiar clinking of chains and metal to cause the child to move once more as her hand lowered to place the mantrap beside her leg, safely away from the rats and lobsters around her as Fear took his own place above the child.  Two cyan optics looked up at him, ignoring her prize, instead looking up to her Judge.  She had Sonia, and Nessa, and now she just had to stay still.  Fear’s words rang into the femme’s mind as her attention was so focused on him that Syrus just fell into the background.  This was…another challenge to Fear’s beliefs, she realized.  She had to pay attention to him, and she did.

…at least until the screaming began.  Livewire’s optics widened as her expression kept itself firmly directed towards Fear, not looking at the undead she was pinning as he screeched, his life being snuffed out right beneath her hands.  It was…intimate, in a way that she didn’t want.  She tried to ignore it.  She tried to pay attention only to her judge, but the scream was there, and then it was dust.  It was all…dust.

Livewire moved smoothly as she stood up and her arms took a hold of Fear, ducking beneath his cape.  She could still hear it, she could hear the scream, feel the frantic struggle beneath her hands.  She wanted to hide.  She wanted to hide.  The femme clutched onto her Judge as her mind slowed in an effort to delay the acceptance of what just happened, trying its best to postpone it until it was safe.  She did not register the words that Collins and Boon spoke even as her mind recorded them.  On another level, she felt sorry for them.  On another level, she wanted them to live, to heal from…this.  But right now…

The child’s hand gently caught the edge of Fear’s cape and pulled it closer to herself as she kept a firm grip on Fear, trying to use him to hide away from all of this, all of the things that she just couldn’t admit to just yet. She was silent in the face of the bandit’s confession, until the small, quiet plea of “I want to go home.” was uttered by the femme.  Even the mention of objects, collectables, were not enough to draw the child out of this.

Livewire is in denial of the situation!  She has opted to hide in Fear's cape until she calms down.

Never trust a gang of bandits to uphold the conventional values of honour and respect for command.

What good was all your power now, Syrus? What good was it, when you couldn't even throw off a few nobodies with all of your demonic strength? Try as he might and try as he could, Judge Fear's grip was adamant. You think to break free from a strength empowered by what lurked beyond the grave? Foolish bandit. Foolish, selfish bandit. You could no sooner best the law than you could a couple of ragtag "heroes". Stand before your judgement and accept what comes as a result of your misdeeds humbly.

The unpleasant aroma of searing flesh permeated the air, Syrus' blazing aura hot enough to melt away rancid flesh. But still the Dark Judge retained his hold, still he applied the mysterious liquid with as much deliberation and control as he could muster. It was harder than it looked, admittedly.

    Sickness...

It was the unmistakeable taint of a demon's influence. Within the bandit leader's bony skull must have been hundreds of souls, thousands of souls... The more Syrus thrashed and snarled, his thoughts racing with the panicked inevitably that was his demise, the more these tortured spirits writhed in agony and desperation. Their screams... Oh, their beautiful screams...! Feel how they yearn for release, eager for the crowning moment of their vindication! "Mmnngh..." At a distance, this would have been easier to weather. Judge Fear had no such luxury. These souls were hardly a foot apart and these souls wanted out now. Patience, patience... Sickly-green fingers trembled and things were not as steady as they once had been, but the undesirable task was nevertheless... finished. If only the end result had been just as mundane.

    SHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

    Psychic overload.

To the material plane, it was nothing. Simply a bright green burst of light and an earsplitting scream of the deceased. But to those belonging to both the material and the astral... it was disastrous.

Like a catastrophic storm threatening to swallow a doomed ship, the Dark Judge was no exception. He at once snatched his burnt hand away, thinking to raise a hasty psychic barrier, but it was too late. It was far too late. The souls erupted and smashed into Judge Fear's psychic conscious with the force of an atomic bomb, his mind seized by fire. The pain was unbearable, the pain was excruciating; and had these thousands of shrieking souls ballooned their numbers well into the billions, the Dark Judge would not be here for Livewire to grasp. Only once had the ghoul's spirit experienced such an attack. Once, back on Deadworld against Psi-Judge Anderson, and the Sisters were not here to repair his soul. Two connections were immediately severed to prevent leakage. This was his mistake to bear and his alone, no matter how agonizing it may be.

    ...crash!

Glass shattered and the Dark Judge fell to his knees, wisps of heated smoke curling outward from his helm's ocularia and grating. Burning... He was burning in his host's skin! "S-S-Ssss..." Apologies, lawbreakers. As much as Judge Fear wanted to acknowledge your words and respond, perhaps again stating his desire to kill you both, he unfortunately could not. A verbal response, after all, required that one could hear the initial conversation. As it stood, the Dark Judge could recognize little beyond the throbbing aches of his own weakened soul. Nonetheless...

A shaky, charred hand rested itself upon Livewire's helm. Give him a... moment, if you'd be so kind. The fiend needed to recuperate and gather his senses. Perhaps in a minute or two, but not at the time being. He'll take you to someone who can patch you up and then home, alright?

    ...Alright?

    - Psychic overload! Momentarily immobilized and "out" of sorts. Wasn't expecting a soul-bomb!
