    Lobster Delivery

Despite everything as of late Sonia still wanted to get Kev something for Christmas. However apprehension chained her down and made her hesitant to act. Caught between wanting to be closer and wanting to keep her distance she was unsure of what to do. She wished to be around Kev, this was a desire that she was completely aware of. However she felt unable to get too close, too uncomfortable with certain someones. It was no fault of Kev's, she could not blame him for his friendship with the judge, even if she could not comprehend it. Even so she could not bring herself to overcome it, the apprehension and anxiety keeping her away on the off chance that Fear was there waiting. Like a disease he plagued her mind and fed her anxieties without even trying, she could not be around him and her absence from the Sanctuary was in large part to her sneaking suspicion that he would be there.

Ice and slush bit at her skin despite the warmth of her apartment floor, which in itself staved off the cold her horde felt in their tiny legs and claws as they scuttled through the snow. The distance between the apartment and the home of the Queens friend far too long for their collective liking. Only their undying loyalty to their Queen would drive them forward to such a place in such weather while burdened with such a package. Manure and crisp air, scents assaulting their senses, their antenna twitching in discomfort as they approached a certain scaly landwalkers humble hovel.

Plated backs shifted, relieving their bodies of their burden as they slid the package in front of Kevs door. Safely wrapped inside was a simple scarf dyed in black, several spools of wool, a box of orange tea, and finally a lone card at the very bottom of the box.

The Card wrote:"Merry Christmas Kev, I'll see you soon. Love, Sonia."

Free now of their burden a larger horde, shell cracked and spiked rammed the door creating a loud thunk! Not wishing to spend a moment more in the frozen wasteland of lovers meadow the horde turned and left, leaving only little lobster tracks behind to show that they had been there.

Christmas day, always a really special day. All of the gifts Kev planned to give were already wrapped in newspaper and labeled so he'd known who to give them to. More than a few of the boxes would have painted on doodles, rough caricatures of the receiver of the package for the most part. All of the gifts were placed in a bag, ready and waiting by the door for when the alien would head out for the day and hand them out. Until then, however, Kev was content to merely lay on the couch. Nursed in his hands was a cup of hot chocolate, between that, the fireplace and the warm blanket the alien had draped across his legs all the way up to his chest, the scaly alien was toasty and warm. "Mmm..." Kev shuffled, moving his knees gently so that he wouldn't jostle the cat on his chest or the miniature pinscher on his lap. He had to soak up this warmth while he could, before he left to for the city in the cold weather. Christmas in the cottage had been quiet, yet pleasant. Kev had given Marvin a new book, Treasure Island as the robot had taken a liking to stories about pirates, and Marvin had given Kev a hat that he had knit together as best as he could. For a first try, the hat really was rather nice, and with those robot hands of his, Marvin had gotten the loops down rather nicely. One hand reached up to lightly rub his thumb over the green fabric. Not a bad start to the day at all...

    THUNK

"Ah-!" Where once had been stillness, now there was movement. Oscar's head popped up from the folds of the blanket, before he jumped down and raced to the door. Nails clacked against the wooden floor as Percy, Biddy and Metus joined Oscar at the door. Shally, meanwhile, had seized up and bolted out of the room immediately. The sudden noise mixed with the rush of movement made the alien thrust both hands into the air, so as to not spill the warm liquid all over himself. He swung his legs off of the couch, setting the coffee cup down onto the table, ceramic lightly scraping the wood. "Phew..." He rested his palms atop his knees, getting his bearings back for a moment before the yap of the dogs reminded him; oh yeah, there might be a guest at the door. "Coming!" He called, standing up off of the couch and opening the door to find...a package.

The dogs clambered their way onto the porch, noses sniffing and twitching as they took in the scents of the odd box. Lots of seafood! Was it food? Kev was fine to let them sniff, though when Oscar seemed poised to claw at the box Kev stepped forward to grab the box and lift it out of reach. "Nope!" Pressing it to his own chest, the alien carried it back inside and set it down onto the couch. Though lightly chilly, the package didn't feel as if it had been there long...the thumping must have been from whoever left it for him. Kev returned to the door, arching a brow as all of the dogs had moved to sniff some odd tracks in the snow, each one focused on the little paths. "Come in, guys! Most of you have short fur..." Though Biddy had long fur, Oscar, Percy and Metus were not as equally blessed. Inside their pawpads pitter-pattered in, the door shutting behind them, as Kev looked back to the box. Well...he might as well open it, right?

It didn't take long for him to get the package open, the very first thing to catch his attention was the black scarf. He pulled it out of the box, inspecting it and rubbing his fingers over it before he wrapped it around his own neck. Quite comfy, and a nice color! Nuzzling his chin into it, his fingers searched again within the box to pull out spools of...wool? His fingers roamed it curiously again, even giving it a sniff. Setting them aside in a nice stack, he grabbed out a small box and a letter. The box, was orange tea. He held it close to his face and inhaled the scent. "Mmm...~" Oh, it smelled delicious. Orange tea, oh, if he had a mouth it would water! Now curious to see who this box was from, he reached for the letter and opened it up, pulling out a card.

The Card wrote:"Merry Christmas Kev, I'll see you soon. Love, Sonia."

Ooh...so it was from Sonia. Kev glanced down at his new goodies, the wool, the scarf and the tea. It warmed his heart that she had given him these gifts, especially with the rough patch they had been dealing with. It really made him feel as if everything between them was going to be alright. A shame she didn't want to stay and talk though...maybe he could say thanks when he saw her later! She would need to receive her gifts as well, a box of mint flavored hot cocoa and a hat with a little lobster face on it. Kev placed the tea and the wool back into the box, setting it down on the floor as he settled against the couch again. Oscar and Percy, still persistent to discover the seafood, returned to sniff persistently at the box while Kev reached above them for his hot chocolate. Not a bad way to start Christmas at all.
