Currently, it was unclear whether even the mention of a bonfire could have pulled Leaf away from the fun he was having right now. It might take something like the words ‘epic fire of the grandest proportions’ to get the fairy to even consider abandoning his spiralling in Zelda’s magic whirlpool.

The red fairy’s glow puffed and he would have ding-ed in alarm at Ciela’s sudden appearance as a sea monster, had the whirlpool not tugged at his wings and glow so that he had to shift his focus to turning to keep the ‘Big Octo’ in sight. “What? Ow! I’ll set fire to your seaweeds!”

“I’d like to see you try. There is plenty of water to keep my ‘arms’ nice and watery thus fireproof - sorta,” answered Ciela as she whipped her tentacles out again and this time they snapped at the water barely an inch from Leaf. When had she even learned to aim like that, thought Leaf as he dodged a few more seaweed.

“If you’re a Big Octo then what am I? Link? Except I don’t have weapons. This isn’t fair. ‘Kaboom!’ goes the cannon doesn’t quite cut it if nothing actually is flung through the air and h-- oh wait!” He swept his gaze around for help. “Neri, Tatl! Come be my fairy boomerang and cannonball!”

Neri raised a wing at the very idea of being a fairy boomerang. That was just silly. She looked at Sheik. “Hm, a gyorg would be a good idea, but I think I would rather be a Sea Hat?”

The Spirit of Wisdom charged forward, mimicked the whirling propeller sounds a Sea Hat would make. She carved her way through a bit of the whirlpool with the help of some shielding magic to help her cut forcefully cut through some of the swirls. Leaf wailed in mock distress as he was crashed into by the blue fairy. “Noooo! I am Leaf! Spirit of Power. I should be able to defeat the likes of you two monsters! Why am I being picked on? Come join my team somebody!”

Link watched as Neri circled the air around Leaf threateningly. “Nghn,” he grunted as he turned to his nametwin and raised an eyebrow. The piglet examined the whirlpool, then looked at its summoner. The cursed Hero of Winds pointed a hoof at himself, the rabbit Link and gestured towards the pool as he tried to ask if the whirlpool would be able to hold bigger non-fairy forms. Maybe without the swim ring?

Impa growled softly in amusement at the current exchange Ciela and Leaf were having, inwardly pleased to see the latest bit of proof that some things truly never changed. Even as the four Hyruleans themselves had wound up being cursed to transform when in the water for this beach outing, the fun they were all having right now was perfect evidence that more than ever, no matter what forms they took, they were still themselves and they were still more than okay. Even if changing forms was different from their previous outings, the fun they were having together was still happening in full force, and the transformed Sheikah was having a wonderful time with her charges and the fairies.

As Leaf cried out for assistance, Impa's ears perked up a bit before she let out a short, sharp growl to him. Although she could not articulate anything more than what range of noises her ursine form afforded her, she hoped that the red fairy would feel at least a little galvanized from her intended message here: if he was the Spirit of Power, then he should indeed be able to stand up to two "monsters," and that stood whether he was fighting alone or with an ally. After all, there were far more ways to counter what he was being met with than using fire. He might have to get a bit creative, but with as imaginative as Leaf was already, Impa was sure he could think of something.

It would be interesting to see how this played out, and as they all continued to enjoy their time in the water, Impa could not help but think that they were likely set to work up a great appetite for the lunch they had brought along with them. For the moment though, the panda took the chance to take a deep breath and disappear beneath the waves. Whether she was planning something from this action or not would be revealed in due time, but regardless, it just felt very nice to go underwater, even if she herself now had slightly different movement as a bear than she did as a Sheikah.

As Ciela and Leaf began to get into it between the whipping about of damp seaweed and the red fairy's unexpected addition to his swirling whirlpool, Sheik grinned before laughing happily. When he had cast the spell to make the whirlpool, he knew that Leaf would enjoy it, but he had not expected any of the other fairies to join him in such a way. From where Ciela was taking on the role of a Big Octo though, it seemed that Neri liked the suggestion he himself had voiced.

Chuckling slightly, Sheik nodded to the Spirit of Wisdom and said, "I think you'd make a great Sea Hat! Just don't let him clip your propeller!" The disguised prince knew that even as they played, Leaf would be careful not to injure any of the other fairies, but he could not help but imagine the Spirit of Power attempting to at least mimic the best way to take down such enemies from the Great Sea. Watching as Neri sped away and playfully collided with Leaf, Sheik was glad to see even more of how the blue fairy had settled down; she might have had some initial worries, but now she was having just as much fun as the rest of them.

Blinking as he heard Link's grunt, Sheik turned to the Hero of Winds before watching how his focus shifted from the whirlpool and back to himself. Raising his eyebrows a bit as he watched the piglet motion between himself, Link, and the small whirlpool, the prince was able to figure out just what his friend was asking. Smiling and giving both Link and Link a quick nod, Sheik stated, "It should be able to hold the two of you, but it might work best for you if you left your swim rings with me. Still… I could widen it a little bit first, though. Just a moment…"

At that, Sheik turned and focused on the whirlpool himself, holding out his hands and concentrating for a few seconds before he moved his hands a little further apart. Right on cue, the whirlpool widened by a few inches, making it an even larger one for any of the fairies, and simultaneously ensuring that Link and Link would have plenty of room to lazily swirl about its vortex. Once he knew the spell was steady, Sheik looked back to his friends, noting, "All right! I can hold onto your swim rings if you'd like to jump in, whether you save Leaf or not."

"Fairies can be a lot of things, but we're not boomerangs or cannonballs," noted Tatl, scoffing at Leaf's cry for help. Sure, Link possessed the Fairy Boomerang, but it was absolutely nothing like what the Sprit of Power had in mind. Apparently, instead of becoming a boomerang, Neri was set to join Ciela in her sea monster antics, adding to the charade as she charged forward just like a Sea Hat, sound effects and all. Oh-ho, now this was getting interesting…

Once Neri crashed into Leaf and sent him wailing even more, both in mock distress and the actual desire for assistance, Tatl simply chimed before calling, "You're not being picked on!" At that, Tatl did perk up even more at catching Impa's articulated growl, and even though she could not understand  bear noises, she could at the very least understand the sentiment behind it and who it was directed to. "I  agree with Impa! As the Spirit of Power, this is nothing you can't handle!" As for how he would counter his two fellow spirits though, well, that was yet to be seen.

Although Link couldn't help but chuckle even more at the humorous display in front of them courtesy of the fairies, he did soon perk his ears up slightly as he caught Link's grunt and glance to him. The older boy seemed pretty curious over the whirlpool, and was soon trying to ask Sheik if he thought the two of them would be able to enjoy it as well. Link was about to suggest that maybe if they took off their swim rings, they should be able to properly use it, but he soon grinned as Sheik wound up voicing that first. "I was thinking about that too!" Still, Link was definitely excited about the prospect of enjoying a controlled whirlpool, and alongside that, it seemed it was just about to get even better.

Link's eyes widened slightly as Sheik mentioned making the whirlpool a little bigger, and he watched in fascination as his friend did just that. Outright grinning as he looked from the now larger whirlpool to his disguised friend, he nodded to him before slipping underwater and out of his swim ring, before kicking right back up to the surface. "Bwa!" Moving forward to try and give his swim ring to Sheik, he added, "Thanks! We'll be sure to make you and your spell proud. Come on, Link!" The Hero of Time made sure to wait for his friend before heading towards the whirlpool, especially if any of the three spirits might wind up finding themselves surprised from the sudden change in the watery vortex.

Like one of those television shows the fairy was so fond of, where the hero struggles to overcome the powers of evil in the very last episode, the words of wisdom from a guardian figure to echo in their mind and then the hero suddenly finds the strength to become super-duper strong, Impa’s encouraging growl had the same effect on Leaf. Tatl’s as well, but honestly, this was Leaf we were talking about so of course Impa’s part of the encouragement held a tonne more weight.

The fairy stopped his helpless flailing, nodded and his glow seems to have gained an extra brightness. He. Has. The. Power! “Raaaah! I will take down this Sea-Hat and Big Octo!” he declared before snatching Ciela’s seaweed before it could land another hit on him.

“Huh? What? Hey! Let go!” Thus began a tug of war between the two fairies, with one fairy in the middle and the other swirling around still so as to make the piece of seaweed turn around like a revolving soppy green rope. Neri hopped above it once, twice, then three times before she squeaked in alarm as she was smacked by it the fourth time round because she was distracted by the whirlpool becoming  bigger and suddenly both Links were ditching their swim rings and coming joining them in the spiralling water.

The older Link emerged from the water and, as his arms were very preoccupied with swimming, he nudged his own swim ring towards Impa by using his nose. Blinking his thanks, the boy-piglet paddled to the edge of the water vortex, eyed it from one side to the other then tried to figure out what monster he would play in this watertop battle. The BIg Octo was taken, as was the Sea Hat. Link supposed he could be a normal Octorok but that involves spitting something out and he didn’t really have anything to spit out…

Not entirely sure what to be but eager to join the fun, the piglet shrugged, paddled forward and allowed himself to be swept up by Sheik’s magic currents. He was pleased to find that the whirlpool was strong enough to carry something of his size and weight lazily around the centre, which was Ciela, but not so strong as to make it difficult for him to swim in and out of if required. With a few strong kicks, he was beside the Spirit of Power who eyed him warily.

“Now what monster are you?” Leaf asked. Link snorted at him, dipped his head underwater and forward before flicking back up. His nose easily flipped the red fairy out of the water and onto his back.

“Ohoho! Fear me! I have am now on the….er… King… of…er... Peach Pigs!”

To which, Neri and Ciela burst out laughing and Link blew a few bubbles of amusement into the sea water.

It appeared that the Sheikah-turned-bear's growl of encouragement was all Leaf needed to find a surge of power and determination that did his title proud. With Tatl seconding her sentiment around pointing out the obvious to the red fairy, he was set to surprise Ciela with a rather unexpected counterattack. The Spirit of Courage soon found herself wrapped up in the very phycological weapon she had sought to playfully whip the Spirit of Power with, and Neri was soon knocked for a loop herself.

As it as, this appeared to be just the chance for the two young heroes to make their way towards the now slightly larger whirlpool. Impa gave Link a pleasant growl as the piglet pushed his swim ring towards her, just before nodding in response to his blink of gratitude. She kept a sharp eye on the swim ring as its owner swam the opposite direction, but before she could lay a paw on it, Sheik had grabbed it as well as the younger Link's. With an amused growl and thankful nod to the prince, Impa then took her chance to go ahead and duck under the waves.

From underwater, the panda was able to see right where the small vortex was, even though she could not see as clearly as if she was able to wear a pair of goggles. The distortion of the water was just enough that she could focus on it, and that task was made even easier once Link appeared in its swirling pattern. As soon as the Hero of Time joined him and the two had taken a few revolutions around the center of the whirlpool, Impa was set to reappear. Hopefully, her charges and the fairies would not mind what she had in mind for such.

A few moments after Leaf's proud exclamation elicited a strong bout of laughter from Neri and Ciela, the center of the whirlpool soon erupted with a mighty geyser of water. Along with the outward radiating wave from the upward shot of water, Impa burst forth from the waves, unleashing a fierce albeit playful roar as she held her claws out at arms' length. Posing much like a giant sea monster, she let her roar taper out with a softer growl before articulating it with a short bark, smiling as best as her muzzle would allow as she caught sight of the kids before her. She hoped that the very nature of her surprise reappearance would serve as proof that she too was having fun out here regardless of her helping out more of their aquatic antics than actively participating in them, and also that it would be an amusing display for each of them.

Sheik could not help but laugh as Leaf felt a surge of strength and cunning swell up within him, and it seemed that that coupled with his own timely spell gave the Spirit of Power just the boost he needed. Once he had turned to Link and Link to note that the whirlpool was ready for them, he soon smiled as the Hero of Time ducked underneath the waves so that he could slide out of his swim ring. Taking hold of the flotation device, Sheik chuckled before nodding strongly in response to his friend's words. "Ha-ha, of course. Have fun!" In a sense, whilst the prince did feel a little bad that his two best friends wound up becoming much smaller in their cursed forms, by the same token, he was glad to be in a position where he was able to help them out whenever he could. Whether it was just helping to keep an eye out for them or even taking advantage of these different forms to have new sorts of fun, he was set to do whatever he could for them.

The past week or so had proven that fact more and more with each day that went by. Even considering the way that Sheik had held onto the older Link to help keep him calm after their initial transformations, the disguised prince had found himself in a prime place to help both of his friends and even his guardian. Remaining as a Hylian certainly had its advantages, and he was reminded of that once more as they were all enjoying their day at the beach. Even as he took the comfortable role of using his larger frame to assist Link and Link where needed, Sheik was just happy that their day out was still the same at its core. They were all together and having a blast, and no matter what any of them looked like splashed or not, that was what counted the most.

As the younger Link had given him his swim ring, it appeared that the Hero of Winds had opted to send his to Impa instead. That was perfectly all right, but Sheik had a feeling that he might be able to hold onto the two rings with a bit more ease. That, plus he did not mind holding them for the time being. As soon as he reached over to grab it, he caught his guardian's amused growl, just before he returned her nod with one of his own. The prince happened to glance back towards the whirlpool right as Impa ducked underwater, soon finding himself laughing once more at Leaf's latest exclamation. With a piglet for a boat and a rabbit lazily swirling about the whirlpool he had made, it seemed that his spell was getting an even greater use than he had predicted.

Several moments later though, the small vortex erupted upwards as a powerful burst of water shot forth from its center. Sheik blinked, wondering for a split second if his spell had backfired at all, but that thought was instantly cast away as he heard the roar he had begun to become very familiar with. Pandas might not have had the intense roars of larger bears, but they could still produce some respectable ones, and his guardian had proven just that. As Link, Link, and the fairies recovered from the surprise appearance of the new would-be sea monster, Sheik checked over them before laughing again, soon meeting the panda's smile with a grin. "That was an entrance worthy of the legendary Tentalus!" And then some if the stories of old were accurate! Impa might have been mistaken for a boss bear after they had all been cursed, and as it stood, she did take the occasional chance to play around with that nickname.

With a grin and happy nod to Sheik at his note for the two of them to have fun, Link was swimming toward the now larger right alongside his nametwin. He wasn't quite sure what sort of aquatic enemy he might pretend to be if any, but it looked like this watery vortex was going to be perfect to enjoy. There were plenty of disadvantages to shrinking so whenever he happened to be splashed with cold water, but as they all got more and more used to their curses, even more of their advantages were becoming apparent. They were still curses by their very definition of course, but just as they had all striven to do shortly after those mysterious springs had first appeared, they were going to make the absolute most of them. Thus far, the experience had proven to be just as interesting as it was perfect for bonding, and although he did hope that a permanent cure was not too far away, the Hero of Time was glad for the sense of normalcy that their day at the beach was affording them.

Well, it was relatively normal at least... even transforming into their cursed forms in the water was proving to be only a slight difference. Tatl herself was grateful for that too, and she couldn't help but snicker at just how Leaf managed to fight back against Ciela and Neri. The red fairy could try her patience at times, but he was at the very least well-meaning, amusing, and even resourceful in a pinch.

A few circles in the whirlpool later, just as Link was thinking even more of how fun this was, his ears perked up at Leaf's question for the Hero of Winds. As Link himself contemplated taking on the pretend role of Morpha, he blinked at Link's snort and subsequent flipping of the Spirit of Power. As Leaf landed on Link's back, his nametwin's new role became apparent, and Link himself started laughing as they continued to swirl about the whirlpool. "A fine boat indeed! Maybe I can be the SS Rabbeck!" Hopefully Linebeck would have approved of the sentiment that his own vessel inspired here, but not too long after they had circled the whirlpool a few more times, it seemed another surprise was in store for them.

"Huh?" Link managed to glance to the side just before the center of the whirlpool erupted with a powerful blast of water. "WHOA!" The jet of water had not hit him directly, but the sheer force behind it did send him floating out of the whirlpool in a new wave. What was going on here?! Tatl was quick to chime as though this was a sudden appearance of a new boss, but the source of the sudden water explosion was soon revealed to be none other than their transformed guardian.

Link blinked as he heard Impa's trademark roar, just before he broke into a grin as the water cascaded down from her black and white form. The whirlpool might have just barely been able to withstand the might of her reappearance from beneath the waves, and that became especially evident as Link found himself carried all the way back to Sheik via one of the rippling waves. Floating backwards, he soon bumped into the disguised prince, and with a quick smile and chuckle to him, he looked back to Impa with a happy smile. "That was awesome, Impa!" It had definitely been unexpected, but that only made it all the better to him.

The Spirit of Courage had noticed that a certain black and white bear was no longer in the midst above water, but she had not yet realised exactly where Impa went. So it was that when the fairy who was at the centre of the whirlpool, suddenly felt a whoosh and she was shot up into the air with a yelp that was mostly covered by Impa’s roar. She was so surprised that she lost the grip on the seaweed she was wrestling Leaf with as she fell back down and landed squarely on the centre of Impa’s head.

Both Link and Leaf stared up at the emerged bear with eyes wide and wings still from shock and surprise, as they were washed back a good few cycles of the whirlpool.

Returning to her senses, Ciela who was still nestled on top of the bear’s head, right between the ears, swivelled around so that she was facing the same direction as Impa. “Er, ahem, mwahaha!” Ciela started, flicking her seaweed up to look dramatic. “I, the Big Octo was merely the opening act! The mini-boss! Now you shall face the REAL boss!”

“Guh!” grunted Link as he adopted a determined look, he shook his head to get the majority of the water off his ears and face then looked up to check for what the Spirit of Power was planning to do. Leaf was then immediately filled with conflicting thoughts. Mere moments ago, he was encouraged by the Sheikah bear and now, in a twist of events, he was to face her down? This was cool, awesome and I-dunno-what at the same time. He looked the only other fairy (the Spirit of Wisdom) who was still in the whirlpool for help in digesting this new development.

Neri shrugged. “Don’t look at me. I’m pretty sure Sea Hats are too territorial to work for any bosses. They’re their own clique so I’m just working for myself here.” Then she made the Sea Hat noise and started puttering away until she was outside the swirling waters. The fairy settled onto Sheik’s shoulder with a bob of affection to the boy, nestled cosily there before continuing her words. “And as a smart Sea Hat, I am going to retreat a little now, see what’s happening, then decide whether to charge in on the bigger enemy or not.”

Link grunted again at Leaf, trying to coax him into making a decision. Huh, was this what the King of Red Lions felt like? All prepared and ready to go forward, but having to wait, poke and prod his sailing companion to choose what to do. It made the Hero of Winds want to chuckle a little guiltily on lingering on islands longer than usual to do things completely unrelated to any quests whatsoever - things like chasing pigs (just because he could), attempting to swim the circumference of an island (just because he could) and trying to scale walls and buildings (just because he could).

Finally, Leaf shook out of it, arrived to a decision and started bouncing up and down eagerly. “We are in luck! Tentalus have tentacles to attack, but this boss doesn’t! The boss bear has a lot less limbs! Though that doesn’t mean it’s any less dangerous, but at least we don’t have to worry about trying to focus on too many things. Come on! King of Peach Pigs! CHAAARGE!”

His ‘vessel’ paddled furiously forward, Leaf snatched Ciela’s dropped seaweed from the currents and brandished it like a grand whip. He snapped it against Impa’s fur in mock-combat. “Take this! And this! And this!”

Impa gave a pleasant chuff at the compliments from Sheik and Link, shortly before she growled in amusement at Ciela's latest declaration. It appeared that this particular game was going to carry on for a bit longer, and the panda was more than fine with that. If they were to make a boss bear of her for this bit of play the same they had in a recent training session, then so be it… a boss bear she would be.

As Neri zoomed over to Sheik, Impa in turn aimed her gaze at Leaf and Link, set to see just what the Spirit of Power might do. If he was going to turn this into another game, then that was more than fine by her, but if he wanted to play with her as the final boss in this particular scenario, then she hoped she would do his expectations proud. Before too long, the red fairy managed to figure out just what he wanted to do, and he decided to take Sheik's previous exclamation as a clue to use in mock combat. It appeared that he thought that a limb difference might provide some form of advantage in terms of focus… but one thing the Spirit of Power neglected to focus on was the fact that in either form, Impa was a lot faster than the Abyssal Leviathan.

He was quite right in his assessment of her not being any less dangerous at least, although Impa would of course never attempt to hurt the fairy. As it was, this was no different than any other acts of play or even spars, and the bear was set to counter whatever the Spirit of Power threw at her.

Her round ears perked up slightly as she caught the way that Leaf grabbed some of the seaweed he had previously been in another struggle with, and she steadied herself to meet his charge as Link swam towards her. The red fairy's first snap of his seaweed was a clear miss, but as Impa set her sights on him, she leaned forward, right as the second whip caught her on the shoulder. The thick fur she currently had cushioned against the blow even more than her sturdy form would have already, but she was rather impressed with Leaf's aim with an unfamiliar weapon.

Impa followed the algae-based whip as the Spirit of Power drew it back, and as he sent it forward, she let it snap right against her muzzle. That contact was all she needed before she quickly jerked her head slightly to the side, snapping the seaweed in her jaws, giving a mighty pull on her new hold so as to catch the fairy off guard. Whether Leaf fell off of Link's back or not, Impa zeroed in on his location, just before she launched a feinting swipe above him. The was a prelude to her next action, where she suddenly reached forward to catch him in a swift yet gentle hold between her paws. "Growf!"

Impa's sudden eruption form underneath the waves had caused enough of a rippling effect to send the younger Link all the way back to Sheik. As the rabbit bumped into him, the prince met his smile with a broad one of his own, soon nodding at his soft laugh before they both turned their attention to their transformed guardian. Bending his knees so as to lower his position in the water slightly, Sheik moved Link's swim ring around to his friend, asking, "Would you like a front row seat to the final battle?" Whether the Hero of Time wished to use his swim ring once more or not, the disguised prince was happy to hold onto both it and the older Link's whenever need be.

Before too long, Ciela pulled herself from her momentary confusion before jumping into the next bit of play, summarily meeting Leaf with a new barrage of possible thoughts. The red fairy had gotten himself into a unique naval battle, and it appeared that this latest development had caught him completely off guard. When he turned to Neri for assistance, the Spirit of Wisdom pointed out just why a 'Sea Hat' such as herself could not give him a wing here, just before she buzzed over to Sheik. The princess-turned-prince grinned slightly at her affectionate bob once she had landed on his shoulder, just before he gentle gave the top of her glow a quick scratch.

"I think the bigger enemy might have this one," whispered Sheik, watching as Leaf mulled over his options before reenergizing himself and bouncing up and down atop Link. The Spirit of Power voiced a couple of decent points, but it was yet to be seen if his observation would help him out in his playful encounter against Impa. As it was, he and Link sped forward, the former soon retrieving the seaweed that Ciela had previously held, right before using it to whip against their guardian as he dove right into this exchange. The first strike was a wide miss, but as it was the one that was testing the waters so to speak, it seemed that Leaf quickly got the hang of it around Impa's simple dodge.

The second whip caught Impa lightly on the shoulder, but it appeared that the panda was not hit with the third so much as she intercepted it with a deliberate following of its motion. The seaweed landed square on her muzzle, but no sooner did Sheik blink than did he see Impa jerk her head to the side, swiftly catching the seaweed in her fierce maw. That was soon followed up by a quick pull, a powerful swiping feint, and a finishing grab of Leaf. Whether this ended the round of play combat or not, it had definitely been impressive to see Impa use a basic technique she had taught Sheik long before. It was always neat to see his guardian in action like this, and the fact that she was able to pull off such a move as a panda only caused the prince to grin further. "That was excellent! Well done!"

Link was glad that Sheik had not minded him bumping into him; not that he thought the disguised prince would of course, but seeing him return his smile made him feel even better all the same. A moment after they both looked to where Impa was standing now, his ears perked up as his friend offered his swim ring back to him for the time being, and he looked to him with an amused smile at his phrasing. "Ha-ha, sure! Thanks for holding onto it!" At that, Link slipped underwater before moving underneath the center of his swim ring, and a powerful kick later, he was right in the center of it again.

Using a little bit of careful maneuvering, Link managed to climb on top of the swim ring and situate himself so that he was sitting back in it. With a grateful nod to Sheik for having helped keep it steady for him around this, he soon smiled to Neri as he saw the Spirit of Wisdom return to join them. Unable to suppress a slight snicker at Sheik's remark, the Hero of Time could not help but agree with him. Although this was definitely just for play, he had a feeling that Leaf's valiant stand would end up with a victory for Impa.

"This boss might not have the number of limbs that Tentalus did, but she's also a lot sharper than that beast… both mentally and literally." And that stood true to a degree even if Impa didn't have her sharp claws like she presently did. The Sheikah was capable of cutting slices with a variety of weapons, and even if she couldn't exactly cut with her bare hands, some of her quick attacks seems like they could. That was Tatl's assessment at least, and even though this was all in good fun, she couldn't help but think that Leaf had no idea what he was getting himself into.

As Leaf charged towards Impa atop Link's back, Link raised his eyebrows slightly when he saw him lift the seaweed out of the water, right before using it like a makeshift whip. The first hit was a wide miss, but the second landed right on Impa's shoulder. It looked like Impa was starting to move forward, right before the third strike caught her on the muzzle… that was when Link realized that Impa had purposely let herself get hit there, right before she quickly snapped onto the seaweed herself. A quick movement later pulled the seaweed away, and whether it pulled Leaf with it or not, she was set to follow up with a powerful swipe of her paw. That proved to be a drawing move though, just before she caught the Spirit of Power in her paws. Laughing happily, Link called, "She got him!" He wasn't surprised at all, but it had still be a very neat display!

The first whipping of the seaweed was poor, Leaf admit that. The soggy seaweed didn’t make a very good weapon, he decided. It was amazing for Ciela could have control over them enough to whip him in the first place. Wait, hey! Did that mean Ciela was better that him at picking up unfamiliar weapons? No way! Leaf refused to accept that. He was the strongest fairy around!

Thankfully the second whip hit, but Leaf was aware it was because Impa came closer and not that his skills had improved. The fairy vowed that he will practice his skills more from this point. The third whip, he was pleased with, as it snapped against the panda’s muzzle proving he was improving at least a little. Link the piglet closed one eye in sympathy. The attack most likely did not hurt, but being smacked in the face by seaweed wasn’t very pleasant nonetheless, and the hero of Winds was surprised Leaf would go ahead with such an attack in the first place.

In the end, it turned out that Impa was anticipating the move and both the piglet and red fairy were surprised as the bear turned her head and snapped her jaws onto Leaf’s weapon. “Whoa!” gasped Leaf as he released the seaweed and jolted backwards, off Link’s back and into a hovering stop two inches above the transformed Hylian boy.

The gasp was followed by another as Impa swiped her paws in his direction. Leaf reflexively ducked from the feint but couldn’t dodge the following move from Impa. Suddenly he felt wet fur on his wings and he was in the boss bear’s grasp. She got him indeed! Leaf debated whether to put on a massive act of struggling, however, a quick look around was all that was required to tell him that even if he struggled some more, the outcome of the battle will remain the same - as Zelda’s predicted, Impa would win. “Okay, Okay. I lost. I surrender. It’s Impa. Cursed or not, you can never beat Impa.”

Link chuckled a series of amused grunts. That was very true. They haven’t had an utterly serious and injuring fight yet but so far even if the Links, Zelda and fairies all teamed up, they still have not bested their guardian yet in combat. Even if they really did have a serious battle, neither Link nor his fairies were confident they could defeat a fully trained Sheikah like Impa.

Ciela rolled off Impa’s head and drifted down to land on the piglet in the water. Link looked up as the fairy took up Leaf’s abandoned spot on his back. He grunted and started swimming with the whirlpool’s currents to circle him back towards Zelda and his nametwin’s side of the vortex again. There, he snorted a greeting, (“Welcome back, Link”) dove and went back into the centre of his swim ring again.

Keeping a solid yet gentle grip on Leaf from where she had caught him, Impa gave a pleasant chuff at Leaf's admission of defeat, just before growling a bit more at his words of praise. She might have been the most trained and experienced of any of their family, but even though she was very proud of her skill and abilities, it was not something she ever let go to her head. Leaf's frequent fanboying was enough to be a nice confidence boost from time to time, but it was never able to take too much root past her appreciating his sentiments. Even so, she was not about to let him simply deflate so after his valiant effort, and that stood regardless of the fact that she knew he was and would be just fine.

Carefully lifting Leaf up in her left paw, Impa moved to gently rub the top of the red fairy's glow with her right paw. He was still a fine Spirit of Power, and even if he had not bested her in mock combat, she was still more than confident in his abilities.

As the older Link took his chance to rejoin Link and Sheik, Impa rumbled softly before moving closer to them as well. The Hyrulean quartet and fairies continued to have a rousing good time in the surf for a couple of hours, enjoying healthy amounts of swimming, splashing, more mock combat, underwater adventures, and then some. Their cursed forms might have been different from what they were more used to, but they made little difference as far as enjoying the water went, and in some ways, they even enhanced the fun they had. When their first bout in the water started to draw to a close, they had each worked up a very healthy appetite for lunch.

Their growing hunger was the biggest reason that the four of them were found out on the beach itself before too long, and after a heated bottle of water and a quick 'bwa,' Impa had transformed back into her Sheikah form. Shaking her head slightly to clear a bit of water from it, she looked to her three charges, stating, "All right then, I think lunch would be perfect right about now. How about you three go ahead and change back, get the drinks and chips set, and I'll prepare our sandwich pieces." Between the bread, meats, cheeses, and condiments that they had packed up that morning, the four of them were set for a veritable beachside feast.
