    Great Bay Beach Day

Post by Impa on Fri May 16, 2014 7:37 pm

    Date: June 3, 2013
    Time: 10:10 am

Although the solstice had not quite hit yet, summer was most definitely in the air. Between the ever-lengthening days and warmer temperatures that had climbed to a steady degree, it was summer in everything but the actual date, and that sunny season brought many things with it… just one of which was the inevitable and fun trips to the beach.

The beach had always been one of the Hyruleans' favorite places to visit, and they were still looking just as forward to visiting it regardless of the fact that they were all cursed.

Ever since the four of them had fallen into the cursed springs just over one and a half weeks ago, they had been trying to carry on as normally as possible. Around some controlled testing with their curses and of course the less than predictable splashes that met them each day, they had all managed to fare pretty well. In the face of it all, even the fairies had started to relax a little more about their currently changed constitutions. It had taken each of them some getting used to as well, especially Neri, but now that they had had more time to adapt, it appeared that their summer could start off even better.

Talk of venturing out to the beach had been on the minds of Link, Link, Zelda, and Impa even before that fateful day in the forest, and it had only taken a temporary pause once they had initially been cursed. Even then, the slight delay of planning an outing to the beach had been more due to the change over between May and June at the inn, although once they had the chance to plan such an day, their curses had still been something to take into heavy consideration… especially given that they were all activated by water.

In they end, they all decided that even if they did transform involuntarily when splashed, it was not about to be something that would negatively affect their beach-going adventures. They could certainly contend with their cursed forms in the water, and when they were on the sand, they could easily use some fire magic to heat up some water to reverse the curses as they pleased. It wasn't ideal, but at the very least, they were still able to go to the beach without having to worry about too much. That was only added to by the notion of going to a much quieter, more isolated stretch of beach that they themselves had since discovered. They all still appreciated the more public area from time to time of course, but it was still great to have the option of what was effectively a private beach day… and that was going to prove especially helpful as they got used to handling their curses there.

After a hearty breakfast and taking care of the day's tasks around the inn, Impa, Zelda, Link, and Link had all gone about getting set for their planned outing. Whilst the kids got changed into their swimwear and gathered up some of their supplies for the beach, Impa checked their inventory before changing into her trademark kneeskin and starting to get their food cooler prepared. Given the nature of their days at the beach, she knew they would be out there for a while, so she made sure to stick plenty of food and drinks for meals and snacks. Once everyone was set and everything was divvied up between their collective Hyrulean storage spaces and arms, it appeared that they were ready to go.

With that, Impa was quick to cast the warp spell to transport all four of them as well as the fairies to a particular remote stretch of coastline. Past the cyan waves and calmer stretches of water, the sandy shores were flanked by a good number of palm trees and some ironstone cliffs, ensuring that not only was this a peaceful location, it gave them an even greater space to enjoy without having to worry about any confusion wrought from their curses.

Taking a few steps forward and staking their trademark green umbrella into a good plot of sand, Impa took a deep breath and let out a happy sigh, right before turning to her charges. Gesturing to the sea behind them, she grinned a bit before noting, "Well then, I'd say this spot is more perfect than ever. What do you all think?"

Even considering the nature of her own curse, Zelda had been looking forward to getting a chance to enjoy a beach day with her family now that the weather was just right. There were plenty of things to keep in mind about such an outing considering their current predicament, and that stood even though they had effectively got used to their involuntary transformations by now. However, as the disguised princess was already well-versed in taking extra care with her secret at the beach, she was ready to meet this challenge as well. After all, with her modified Zora tunic vest, she had been set to continue to treat beach outings just the same as she had any previous ones. The only difference now aside from the obvious transformation she would experience when cold water hit her was that she would have the chance to treat her vest as optional.

The vest that she had received as a Christmas present from Impa her first winter here had been something that Zelda had throughly treasured, and she knew that she would continue to do so long after she outgrew it. Regardless of the fact that it enabled her to enjoy the beach whilst keeping up with her disguise, she loved that it had the same properties of a regular Zora tunic. She had been a skilled swimmer from an early age, but adding the ability to breathe underwater to it had been nothing short of amazing. Once she had arrived on the Breach and had got set to enjoy visiting the ocean as Sheik, she had been quick to don a comfortable combination of her vest and one of her new pairs of boardshorts, and truth be told, she found her swimwear here to be very nice regardless of the fact that it acted as something of another disguise.

Today though, once she hit the water, she knew very well that her swimwear would prove to be even more appropriate than it already was. She was ready to meet the change though, and once she had got settled on the beach, the disguised princess was also determined to take advantage of the fact that she would not have to keep her vest on the entire time. She loved it, but to have this chance and to be able to experience the warm sun on her back… both of those factors definitely helped her push past any lingering awkwardness that threatened to flare up on her. If nothing else, she was just glad that their curses did not mean they could not go to the beach at all. Admittedly, Zelda was glad that she would once more remain a Hylian, and she hoped that Impa, Link, and Link's own transformations would not detract from the time they were prepared to have.

As soon as Zelda had got changed and gathered up her gear for the day, she set about making sure that they had plenty of towels to go around. The four Hyruleans might have been fast drying by nature, but beach towels were still great to sit on and wrap up in on the sand. Once that was set, she made sure that their bodyboard, sun lotions, and other essential items were prepared as well, and with everything gathered, the quartet set about arranging who would be holding what. That task did not take much time at all, and before they knew it, Impa had whisked each of them to a secluded stretch of beach.

The instant that Sheik saw the ocean, she broke into a broad grin, thinking to herself that she was especially glad that Rosa and everyone had insisted they all take this full day to themselves. As the main staff of the inn, it was rather easy for them to keep their schedules flexible and set out for full or partial days, but the disguised princess never stopped appreciating it. They had all taken a little time to make sure everything was covered for the day, but most of their morning had been dedicated to eating breakfast and preparing themselves for their fun day at the beach.

With a strong nod at Impa's assessment and question, Sheik exclaimed, "It's the best!" They had been to this particular part of the coastline before, but it was always a favored spot of theirs. With a happy laugh and a glance to Link and Link, she added, "It's great to finally be back here." And even better, it would not take them long to get lotioned up and set up their spot before they could start playing and swimming.

Link had known that regardless of the fact that he, Zelda, Link, and Impa had been cursed, nothing was going to put a damper on their planned beach days this summer. No matter how long they wound up actually being cursed for, no matter how they all changed when met with cold water, the four Hyruleans were still set to enjoy the ocean the same as they always had. They each loved the beach, and even though they were going to have to keep their new transformations in mind, especially for when they actually went swimming, it was nothing they couldn't handle. If anything, it could be seen as a new challenge to tackle as well as a greatly deserved fun, relaxing day.

The subject of going to the beach now that summer was just around the corner had been broached before that fateful encounter in the forest, and it had been brought back up just last week while they were all still adapting to their curses. In the end, they had all agreed that even though there would be obvious considerations to be had for such an outing, curses or otherwise, nothing was going to stand in the way of their setting out to enjoy a day on the shore. Sure, none of them would be able to prevent their transformations while swimming, but really, the only hurdle there was for the two young heroes.

Zelda would have the least noticeable difference in the water since she remained a Hylian, although Link hoped that she would still be able to enjoy the beach without her curse affecting it in a bad way at all. As for Impa, Link did not have a doubt in his mind that she would be just as adept in the water as a bear as she was as a Sheikah. Link and Link on the other hand (or paw and hoof as the case would soon be) did not only have to contend with a species change… whilst their guardian grew quite a bit in size whenever she was splashed, the two boys shrank to a much greater degree. Both of them were skilled swimmers of course, and they knew that rabbits and especially pigs were capable swimmers… even so though, Link hoped that the change would not prove to be TOO drastic for getting used to being in the water.

Even with the care they would both have to take, Link and Link were set to meet this head on. Between their own swimming skill, floatation devices, and the fact that both Zelda and Impa would be set to keep an additional eye on them, the two boys knew that no matter what, they were going to be just fine. That same determination and enthusiasm carried through well past their delicious breakfast this morning, and once everything around the inn had been wrapped up in near record time, the four Hyruleans were well on their way to getting changed and packed. As soon as Link was set in his newest pair of swim trunks, he pulled on one of the t-shirts he often wore around in lieu of his tunic at certain times (chances to go swimming being just one of those) and was off to help make sure they had everything they needed.

With a few added checks from Tatl and everything being set between the four of them, Impa cast her warp spell, soon landing the quartet as well as all four fairies in the middle of one of their favorite beaches. Link knew that they were headed here, especially since a more secluded and private section of the coast would be the best for their first cursed outing to the beach, but he was still excited to actually be back in this familiar area. That enthusiasm only increased as Impa set their beach umbrella in the sand, and Link readily nodded in agreement that they had the best spot. "Yeah!"

Link blinked and perked up a bit as he caught Sheik's glance, right before his grin deepened at the disguised princess' own sentiment. Chuckling softly alongside a positive chime from Tatl, he nodded once more before adding, "I agree! Today's going to be great!"

The curses may have hit them when they were all looking forward to spending some time at the beach, but it did not dissuade them from going. Not one bit. They were still set to go and the only difference it made now was where they might go alongside being even more careful than they would normally would have. As varied as the people in this world was, it was still eyebrow raising to have three people go into the water in one form and emerge another.

Then there were Neri's niggling worries to deal with. The Spirit of Wisdom worried that somebody would step on the smaller two cursed forms or, even worse, made off with one of the two cuddly Links even though they all assured her than no such thing would happen without a bear and the rest of the family on their tail. Whilst a charging pig might not be very threatening if somebody suddenly felt like adopting a pet rabbit, a bear was another story entirely - as if Impa was not enough of a commanding threat in her Sheikah form already.

Thankfully, her worries lessened considerably when they decided to go to one of the private beaches they favoured along the coastline, but it was still not enough for her to let them go without an accompanying blue fairy though - not that they had any intention of leaving her out of the trip in the first place. So, after a hearty breakfast and ensuring the inn duties were taken care of or assigned to, Link changed into his swim shorts, sandals, t-shirt and even donned a pair of sunglasses before meeting up with the others in Impa and Sheik's room.

Very soon, they were set to go, the items they need for their day out distributed amongst them to carry to the destination with Link looking VERY forward to their food after swimming. Komatsu had given them a few very tasty looking treats. Ciela, at the last moment, decided she would fetch an extra bucket, this one for the fairies to share in case they needed to warm water - something Leaf very vocally volunteered himself to doing (alongside collecting any driftwood to start a bonfire or two.... Or three.)

They did not have to carry the items for long because in the blink of an eye, Impa had warped them there. Neri sighed in relief that there were no strangers there whilst Link blinked and looked around. He had travelled many times by the Sheikah's warp spells now, but there was still that sense of amazement after each. Then he shuffled his feet in the sand and grinned widely. They were at the beach! The BEACH!

He followed the sage forward in the sand and set down his items beside the umbrella. When Impa turned to them and asked about their opinion of their spot on the sand, Link looked at her, looked at the water, looked at the Sheikah again then the next thing anybody knew, he was dashing full speed across the sand. His sandals were the first to go, kicking them of roughly five feet in front of their spot, his sunglasses went next, flung into the air onto to be caught by Ciela who immediately snapped, "These could break, you know!"

The last to be stripped off was his shirt, abandoned in the sand before the innkeeper crashed into the waves emitting a yelp that turned into a high pitched 'bweeeeeeee!' as he changed instantly. WATER! Water! The sea! YES! Summer was here! The SEA! He had practiced swimming as a piglet especially for this trip by filling up his bathtub with water and paddling back and forth in it until he got he got tired.

Suddenly, he was hyper aware of something a bathtub did not have - waves. With a good amount of grunts and snorting, he somehow pulled himself out of the water before he could be taken further out by the waves.

Shaking the water off, he made his way back over to his friends. He picked up his shirt with his mouth along the way and dragged it back with him. By the time he was back though, he was half covered in sand, looking sheepish and finally answered the Sheikah's question with a very happy nod.

Ciela floated back, now with a full bucket of seawater and an eager red fairy swirled in its depths, glowing brightly as he worked his magic. She sighed loudly as she tipped the hot water on the boy and Leaf tumbled out with the cascade to land with a wet plop on Link's hair. "You could have at least waited until you put sun lotion on."

    Re: Great Bay Beach Day

Post by Impa on Mon May 19, 2014 2:53 am

Impa was very glad to hear the positive reactions of Sheik and Link, although the older Link's action spoke the loudest of the three of them. No sooner had the Hero of Winds met the Sheikah's gaze than had his focus locked on the ocean, that lasting all of a second before he bolted towards it. With the boy's sandals, sunglasses, and shirt quickly tossed aside, he was the first to jump in the water, instantly changing into his piglet form.

Chuckling softly at Link's enthusiasm, Impa smiled broadly as the transformed boy turned right back around and swam the short distance back to shore. Setting down the items she had been holding on her person as well as setting out those she had stored away, that was all ready to be set up once Link returned. Meeting his sheepish yet happy nod with a firm one of her own, the Sheikah looked to her three charges before stating, "Excellent. Let's go ahead and get lotioned up, and by the time we set up our spot, we should be set to go swimming."

Sun lotion was not something that any of them had in Hyrule of course, but even though all four Hyruleans possessed quick healing, sunburns were never fun to contend with for any amount of time. It had been yet another innovation they all appreciated about this world, and thankfully, Impa had since found a good formula that was as quick drying as it was effective. Another wonderful invention were sunglasses, and the Sheikah was now wearing her pair… something she was especially grateful for given her excellent night vision and the bright day. She could see outside fine without the sunglasses, but they certainly made it all the more enjoyable.

As soon as Link had changed back to himself and Ciela added her own remark about waiting before jumping in, Impa picked up one of the bottles of their lotion and handed it to Link, nodding to him as she noted, "Here you are, Link. You can use it first, and then you can help me lay out the towels and the like. How does that sound?" Much like the three kids, Impa herself could hardly wait to start enjoying both the beach and ocean in earnest, but in order to properly do that, they had to set everything up first. Thankfully, between their numerous beach trips over the past couple of years, they had got the entire process down to something of a science, from knowing just what they needed for any outing to setting it up and breaking it down, and that was even proven with the couple of additional items they had packed to help with the consideration of their curses.

At that, Impa started taking some of the towels that they had designated to be their resting surface instead of the otherwise hot sand, and she and Link were quick to start unfolding them into place. Once Sheik and the younger Link set about making sure the cooler and other items were in place, they both found the sun lotion set for them next. All of the Hyruleans were flexible enough to reach pretty much anywhere they needed to on their bodies for total coverage, but they were still set to help each other with their backs and the like. And today, another interesting factor was to know that the lotion would still likely be just as effective even with each time they transformed.

Before too long, the entire spot had been set up with such efficiency and precision that Impa could only grin as she unfolded their large umbrella. Now that they had a cozy canopy as well, the Sheikah picked up the bottle of sun lotion before looking to her three charges, stating, "All right then, I believe we've got everything set out just the way we need it. You three go ahead and feel free to hit the water. I'll be there shortly." Enjoying the ocean as a bear was going to prove quite interesting, but at the very least, this curse had not affected her ability to swim. Now all that was left was getting to experience that in something far better than a shallow, cursed spring.

Barely a moment after she had glanced to Link and Link, Sheik blinked as the older boy suddenly dashed forward towards the ocean. She soon raised her eyebrows a little, right before she laughed happily, donning her sunglasses as she watched her best friend meet the waves, not even stopping once he had transformed. The disguised princess could not blame him at all, for whilst she did not have the exact same mindset that the Hero of Winds did regarding seeing water and immediately wanting to be in it, she did certainly love being in water nearly as much as her friend did. It was encouraging to see him still swimming ahead once he was a piglet, but between the surge of a small wave that started to meet him and him likely being set to come back to them before he got carried away soon saw to him hauling right back out.

Once Sheik had set down the items she herself had been carrying, Link had returned to them, and she laughed a bit more at both his sheepish expression and excited nod. Ciela and Leaf were quick to work to heat up some water and change him back, and at Impa's suggestion about getting their spot on the beach prepared, the disguised princess nodded eagerly. "All right. I can take care of getting some of our gear ready!" As far as the Spirit of Courage's added statement about Link having charged right ahead, Sheik simply gave her friend a sympathetic smile before handing him one of his towels so that he could dry off, noting, "I can't wait to jump in either… how was the water temperature?" From the looks of things, it was just right today!

With the bodyboard stuck in the sand and one of their supply bags right next to it, Sheik pulled the cooler to the side so that Impa would be able to start laying the towels out in the right formation. At that, she set about pulling some of their other items out, such as the few inflatable flotation devices they had, their sand gear such as shovels and buckets (hopefully Link already had his mole mitts on his person so he could use those to add to their fun in the sand!), and her own pair of goggles. Going ahead and putting those on to rest around her neck, the disguised princess found the younger Link by her side as the two began to set things in the general layout that they normally did. They were going to be here all day, so it was good to have a true camp of sorts set up instead of just randomly tossing things about.

Once she had blown up one of the flotation devices, Sheik soon found the bottle of sun lotion offered to her. With a grin and grateful nod to the older Link, she opened it up, saying, "Thanks Link! Would you like for me to get your back as well?" Whether her friend needed her help with that or not, the disguised princess soon set about applying and rubbing in her own lotion over her exposed skin. Sheik knew that she might apply some of it on her torso in the event that she removed her vest once she transformed, but for now, she was set to let it do its secondary job of helping her block out the sun on her upper body.

As soon as the disguised princess had taken care of her own sun lotion, she turned to the Hero of Time and asked, "Would you like for me to put it on your back for you, Link?" Happy at both his cheery response and the fact that she was able to help him, Sheik made quick work of covering his back, gently rubbing the cream in to make sure he wouldn't get burned. Once that was taken care of, she handed the bottle off to him and continued to unpack and set things up. With all four of them working together and some expert flying from the fairs, their spot was set in no time, and she soon removed her shades to gently set them down on her towel.

Smiling broadly both at their beach setup as well as at Impa's words, Sheik nodded to her guardian. "Okay Impa. We'll see you there!" At that, she turned to her two best friends, waggling her eyebrows a bit before stating, "Let's see who can get there first." At that, the disguised princess was off, sprinting towards the surf with both boys alongside her. She might have been the fastest of the three of them, but no matter who wound up reaching the water first, she was just excited for this day at the beach. Her smile shifting into a grin before she took a deep breath, Sheik ran right into the waves, just before she pushed forward and fully submerged herself.

Link was just about to see if his older nametwin was grinning as much as he was about the fact that they were all finally here, but no sooner had he turned to look to his friend than had the Hero of Winds bolted off. "Hah?" Moments later, he watched as the Hero of Winds ran right into the waves, not stopping for even a second as he transformed into his cursed form, just before he himself let out a hearty laugh. He knew that Link loved the water even more than any of the rest of them, but to see him run off with that much open enthusiasm and still enjoy that first splash regardless of his curse was as amusing as it was encouraging. No matter how many times any of them transformed, today was going to be great!

"Don't get any ideas," chimed Tatl, prompting Link to chuckle sheepishly as he set his own items down. "You can all swim soon." Sure, they had come here to have a fun day and that was exactly what they were going to do, but they were going to be here all day, and it was best to set up their spot into a veritable camp of sorts so that everything they needed was right there, good to go, and easy to find. She knew that her companion likely wouldn't just run off, but she felt a little reminder couldn't hurt considering how excited he was about this trip today.

"Of course," noted Link, nodding to his fairy as his older nametwin returned to their side. As Link was changed back, the younger boy perked up at Impa's idea of them putting on their sun lotion and getting everything set, just before he nodded again to echo Sheik's response. "So can I!" And with that, he looked to the disguised princess handing Link a towel before he turned his own attention to the bag he had set down. Taking everything the other towels out of the bag and setting them aside so that they could be unfolded or stacked as needed, he soon removed his own shirt before carefully folding it and placing it in the bag so it wouldn't get too sandy. Now that he had that set and most everything good to go, he appeared by Sheik's side so that they could plant anything in the sand that needed to be stuck there and go about setting up their beach items.

As the tools for playing in the sand were placed to the side, Link set about blowing up the other flotation devices. They didn't have too many, but between the ones they enjoyed from time to time as well as the ones that were undoubtedly going to prove helpful for him and Link today, he wanted to make sure each of them was ready no matter when they might be used. As his older nametwin was lotioned up, Sheik was next for that task, and Link himself finished inflating a swim ring that they had found just a couple of days ago. Setting it to the side, the Hero of Time perked up as Sheik offered to put sun lotion on his back for him. She had already finished up herself, and although he himself was flexible enough to reach his back, he knew this would be far easier and definitely more reliable.

"If you don't mind, that could really help! Ha-ha," replied Link smiling a little sheepishly now as he nodded to the disguised princess. "Thanks, Sheik." At that, he turned around so she could readily access his back, his smile deepening as she helped make sure he wouldn't miss a spot on his own. He couldn't help it! It felt good! As soon as he was set though, he nodded his thanks once more before taking the bottle and getting the rest of himself taken care of. Now with just a little time for it to soak in, they could all go swimming soon!

Before they knew it, the four of them had effectively got everything set up, and they were all ready to officially begin their fun day in the sun. Link glanced to Impa as she confirmed this, just before he grinned as he knew they were all set to go swimming now. "All right!" Picking up a smaller flotation device so that he could hold onto it once he transformed, Link's grin turned especially playful at catching Sheik's statement. "You're on!" With a happy chuckle, Link dashed off right after her, bracing himself even more of the inevitable change than he was the sensation of being in the water. He wound up entering the ocean about a second or so after Sheik did, and as soon as the disguised princess was underwater, he himself got caught in the surf, changing as soon as a wave hit him.

"Bwa!" Holding onto the floating ring even more tightly now that he was a rabbit, Link could not help but laugh as he kicked a himself further out in the water, to the point where he would have normally been a little more than waist-deep. Given the testing that he and his friends had done the first night they had been cursed, he was not surprised at all to see that he still had on his trunks (temporarily shrunken as they were, much like his hat and tunic always were when he was splashed), but all the same, he was kind of glad for it. Now he was just ready to enjoy swimming with his friends!

Ciela set the bucket down whilst Leaf and Link shook their wings and hair free of water droplets. The boy gave a thumbs up and a happy nod in answer to Sheik's question regarding the water temperature. It was a bit on the cooler side but perfectly swim-able and he believed it will get a bit warmer as the day went by.

The Hero of Winds accepted the towel from Sheik with a thankful grin. They dried quickly, but a towel will help him get dry even faster so that they could put on sun lotion and be back in the water again. When Link was first introduced to sun lotion, he had scoffed at the idea. He had grown up by the sea and the climate of his world had always been a bit more on the warm side so they saw a lot more sunshine that they did here. Sunlight was good for you, that was what he thought, and that he knew how to judge how long to stay in the sun for. He was not very taken with it when it was just him and Link around, and had admittedly been 'conveniently' absent-minded when he had to put it on. It was not until Impa came and carefully explained to him why it was a good idea that he became more interested in taking the time to protect his skin with the lotion.

He put the lotion on at well practiced lightning speed as Neri and Ciela picked up Link's previously flung aside shirt and gave it a good amount of flaps to get the sand out of it. Leaf shook out Link's used towel and then laid it out to dry alongside all the resting towels Impa and the Hero of Winds was setting up. After so many beach trips, they had the setting up camp on the beach business down pat. Whether it was at a private location like they were now or at a public beach where they had to fight others for a spot in the sand, they had the ins and outs of it sorted to be done at record speed.

Once the towels were laid out, he offered the bottle of lotion to Sheik. "Heh?" he sounded, turning his head to look over his shoulder and attempt to peer down his back. He had managed to get most of it done, but it was probably better to ensure it was consistently covered. "Aa," he answered and turned around for the princess to apply the cream. Once that was done, he pulled out his mole mitts and left them on the resting towels for some sand adventures later. He had brought his goggles as well, but was not very sure how it would work with him as a piglet.

Very soon, everything was set and Link was armed with an inflatable ring which had not one, but three bits of string tied to it. After experiencing the waves first hand (or hoof) just there, Link was glad he added the string on. They were a last minute precaution, he added the night before, namely to keep Neri's mind at peace. It was that if he happened to not be able to swim very well at sea as a piglet, his fairies could drag him back to shore. Leaf, however, had very different ideas and was convinced he could use the string alongside a tiny board to water if piglet Link would swim fast enough.

Link nodded at Impa's words and suggestion that they could go on ahead first. He looked at each of his friends, shielded his eyes and looked out at the sea. They were going to have a whale of a time today.

"Gwah!" he called out at Sheik's challenge and subsequent taking off across the sand. He laughed and soon joined the dash to the water, bringing up the rear with Neri holding one of the strings and being tugged along behind him like an extremely low flying kite. The younger Link met the surf and the older boy barely registered the colour pink before he too was in the water.

"Bwee!" Link squealed as he surfaced and Neri shook the water off her wings before she flew a bit higher, inwardly relieved that the waves didn't wash the piglet away from the swim ring when Link changed. The fairy felt a tug and with a giggle, she allowed Link to pull her along further out into the sea to join the others.

Back over the sands, a red fairy was whizzing through the air so fast he was a red blur. "DRIFTWOOOOOOOOD!"

"Leaf! It's too early for a bonfire!"

"It's never too early for fire! I could collect it then light it later."

Impa might not have known about sun lotion before she had arrived in this world herself, but as did anyone else with common sense, she knew that one had to be careful not to get burned by the sun if they were outside for extended periods of time. Protective clothing and strategic uses of shade could certainly help that regardless of any natural resistance anyone had, but to think that such a lotion existed that could enable each of them to spend even more time out in the sun without having to worry as much about painful burns? It was definitely worth taking a few extra moments to oil up and protect their skin.

With the combined efforts of the Hyruleans and the fairies, they made quick work of setting up camp, and once Impa gave the go ahead for her three charges to start enjoying the water, she watched with a broad grin as they raced towards the surf. Her red gaze unblinking, she kept an eye on all three of them as they hit the waves… allowing herself the softest of pleased sighs as they each surfaced again. They might have each transformed into their cursed forms, but save their outward appearances, at the core, absolutely nothing else had changed about this beach excursion.

With Link, Link, and Sheik safely in the gentle surf, Impa moved to start applying her own sunscreen. The coverage afforded by the Sheikah's kneeskin certainly helped to expedite the already quick process, and after a few more moments to make certain that all of the lotion had been properly smoothed out and set to be soaked in, she closed the bottle before tucking it safely away in a bag beneath the shade of the umbrella. She too would be set to go swimming before too long, but as it was, right now Impa was highly amused at the combined antics of Leaf and Ciela.

Folding her arms at Tatl's own chime, Impa looked to the Spirit of Power and Spirit of Courage before stating, "We won't need it for a while, but it will not be a bad idea to make sure we have some. Would you like a hand in acquiring any driftwood before I join them in swimming, Leaf?" The Sage of Shadow had full confidence in the red fairy's ability to gather some good driftwood, but a spare pair of hands was always a good thing for such a task. If nothing else, it would help her go ahead and get a better idea of what kindling they would have to work with for any fires they might light throughout the day.

With a nod to Link at his response, Sheik readily applied the sun lotion to his back, rubbing it in nice and smooth to make sure she covered all of it. A few moments later, she had finished up and moved to pat her friend on the shoulder, noting, "There you go, Link! You're all set!" And with that, she was ready to lotion up herself. It was a quick task, and in no time at all, she was set as well, the younger Link's back had been covered as well, and he was set to finish up his own application of the protective cream.

Sheik outright laughed at the dual reactions of Link and Link as the three of them took off across the sand, inwardly feeling her own excitement for the day ahead growing more with each step. As the three friends neared the waves, it appeared that the disguised princess had in fact got there first, but regardless, she was just thrilled for all of them to get to go swimming, regardless of their cursed forms. That feeling was reflected in her happy expression as she met the waves, quickly diving under them as she felt the change take place.

Now that he was underwater, Sheik blinked a few times before exhaling a few bubbles, using those to clear his goggles so he could slide those on as well as keep a position closer to the ocean floor for the moment. Outright grinning as he took his first breath underwater, he looked up towards the surface, soon spotting both Link and Link from where they were afloat with their swim rings. Once his two best friends were a bit closer out to the depth the three of them typically swam at, the disguised prince swam forward just past them, soon turning around so that he was facing their position from underneath the calm waves. As soon as the piglet and rabbit had effectively stopped in their main spot, he touched his feet on the bottom, just in time to kick himself upward. In one smooth motion, he broke the surface, appearing right in front of the older Link with a happy laugh. "Bwa! Ha-ha-ha-ha!"

Lifting his goggles up onto his forehead as the water settled more around them, Sheik glanced between his friends, inwardly feeling rather glad to see both that Link and Link were all right so far, and that the Spirit of Wisdom had decided to join them for their first swim of the day. "You were right, Link! This is perfect!" Chuckling a little more as he carefully placed his left hand on the edge of the Hero of Winds' swim ring, he added, "I like your ride, Neri. And I'm glad the sea's nice and calm for your today!" Admittedly, it was calm for each of them with only the gentlest of waves hitting their current spot, and he was also thankful for that given his friends' current smaller statures. Sheik knew that he could help them out if they needed it, but it was still something he was pleased to see here.

Link wound up hitting the water right in between Sheik and Link respectively, and no sooner had he propelled himself a little ways forward than did he look around at hearing a happy squeal from his older nametwin. The Hero of Winds had already changed as well, and as he began to kick his way forward, the Hero of Time smiled a bit more at seeing a far more relaxed Neri letting her companion pull her forward. They all knew that the Spirit of Wisdom had some of her own lingering concerns about their outing today, but now that they were in the water and she could see how safe they were, she would be able to settle her mind even further.

Sheik was still underwater from where she had hit the waves first, but no sooner had Link looked around to try to track her position than did she, well… he burst forth from the water. That maneuver was one that he was very used to, but it made him grin all the same… especially since it helped show even more just how much things were the same as they ever were today. The boy-turned-rabbit wound up echoing the disguised prince's laugh here, and now that all three of them had surfaced in their general depth range, he could feel his excitement for their day start to take over even more. He had effectively gotten used to his own curse as well as those of his friends over the past week and a half, but it was still kind of surreal to experience said curses out at the beach. There were extra things to take into consideration of course, as was the case with both Link and himself holding onto swimming rings just in case of any rogue wave, but already, the day was shaping up to be a great one.

Nodding in agreement with Sheik regarding both the water temperature being just right as well as at Neri's ride being a neat one, Link soon glanced to his older nametwin and smiled even more. With another good kick, he was a little closer to the Hero of Winds, and he soon noted, "I know the water's nice and calm here, but I'm glad we brought these swim rings with us. This is already great!" They were both able to swim unassisted of course, but it was nice knowing that not only would they still be able to more effectively enjoy the deeper water, they would be able to hang out more with Sheik without asking him to stick to water that was way too shallow. They weren't about to even before the two young heroes had talked about some of their own strategies for the beach day, and between being able to get a better feeling for the ocean in these new forms and not having to rely on potential treading, it seemed that they were definitely set for any and all of their swims today.

The four of them might have to contend with their curses today, but already, this was proving to be a blast. Even Tatl back on the shore found herself agreeing with that silent sentiment… regardless of the fact that Leaf was already eager to hunt for driftwood. If anything, that excitement further cemented the fact that cursed Hyruleans or not, this truly was just another fun beach day.

Ciela had started across the sand, then decided she wasn’t even going to bother chasing their hyper red fairy around when he was just going to return to the camp with whatever items he collected. Plus, the private location of their day out meant she can shout as much as she wanted and was sure to be heard. Sure enough, Leaf was soon back, depositing two more pieces of wood onto the sand. It seems like he was laying them out side by side so they were properly dried by the sun and hence be easier to light and burn.

“Don’t encourage him, Impa,” sighed the Spirit of Courage. “It will just make him light his first pile earlier than we need it. Let him fly around by himself and burn out some of his excess energy.”

“Don’t listen to her!” boomed Leaf in reply. “We need all the wood we can find for a grand fire. I may be a very strong fairy, but I can’t exactly drag any big pieces by myself.”

At the words ‘grand fire’, there was a high pitched squeal of approval from the waters. It came from a piglet who had overheard the shouting (not hard considering how loud the red fairy was) and who was furiously kicking his legs. He wasn’t even that far out in the water and there was no sense of the ground at all beneath his hooves. Neri watched worriedly for a few seconds as Link adjusted his hooves and position in the ring until he could find a comfortable way to move along the waves whilst seeing where he was going. It only took a few minor adjustments and then the nosey pig was poking his nose in the water and watching Sheik’s movement’s underwater curiously.

As Sheik surfaced, Link prepared for and felt his ring bob at the ripples his friend’s emergence had caused whilst Neri shook the stray water droplets off her wings. “The water feels nice indeed,” the fairy agreed, then fell silent as she studied only ‘boy’ amongst them. Neri glanced at the two Links subtly. Would it be awkward if she asked right now if Sheik was… okay?

It was a question that came tumbling out of her mouth more often than not nowadays. To the point that the Spirit of Wisdom was starting to wonder if it was starting to bother her friends that she was asking it so much. By now, she had gotten used to their curses enough that Neri knew full well that they were all fine - splashed or unsplashed - but part of her still liked the verbal confirmation as it served as an extra comfort for her. She just hoped her constant asking wasn’t making her out to be a nuisance though…

Link snuffled a few delighted noises at both Sheik and the younger Link finding the water as good as he had mentioned. It was set to become warmer as the day progressed, but currently, it was deliciously cool.

“Hopefully, the waves wouldn’t turn rougher later,” added Neri worriedly even though Link was eyeing up the water like he wouldn’t mind if it did because it would be an interesting experience.

Impa simply laughed softly at the exchange between Ciela and Leaf before placing her right fist on her hip and gesturing with her left hand. "I'm sure he'll be fine, Ciela. We've got the entire rest of the day before us." With a knowing glance and wink to the Spirit of Courage, the Sheikah sincerely hoped that she would catch her drift that just a little bit of early preparation would not be bad. The Spirit of Power was obviously rather excited, but striking a compromise here would not only help him expend his energy, it would also enable them to get a head start on proper materials for a nice fire later.

Looking between the two fairies, Impa soon stated, "How about this then… I'll help you out with the large pieces to get them set, and once we've got a few, we'll take a break from gathering that so we can enjoy the beach more fully." Provided that sounded agreeable to both of the fairies, the Sheikah was set to scan the immediate area of the beach, spotting a rather sizable chunk of driftwood before too long.

There was not too much in their immediate vicinity, but there was more than enough to collect some for their own needs whilst letting other pieces be. Motioning to a pair of smaller pieces on the left side of the beach, well past the surf line, Impa noted, "Leaf, how about you go get both of those, and I'll get this larger one over here?" At that, the Sheikah took to the right sight of the beach where a much larger piece of driftwood sat. It was more like a sizable log given its size, but even so, it appeared that it would be a perfect base for their bonfire later in the day. Once she had neared it, Impa leaned down and gripped it, right before hoisting it over her right shoulder in one smooth motion.

It was a short trek back towards their camp, and once she had returned to the towels, Impa lifted up her own find and carefully dropped it next to the others. They had a good start thus far, and before long they would have more than enough driftwood needed for any of their uses throughout the day. "There we go… just a little bit more." With a quick glance out to the surf to see the fun that Sheik, Link, Link, and Neri were having, the Sheikah motioned for Ciela to follow after her if she liked as she began to make her way towards the other large piece of driftwood that was further up on the beach. Whether the Spirit of Courage opted to accompany her or not, she did glance to her, stating, "Neri seems to be relaxing a bit more already. I think she might have needed this day out even more than the rest of us did."

Sheik was glad to see that Neri was about as calm as the waves themselves were at the moment, but he did not fail to catch her silence as she checked on the three of their current statuses. Sighing softly as he smiled to the Spirit of Wisdom, the disguised prince soon chuckled a bit at Link's note regarding the swim rings. "I'm glad that you two can still swim, but I have to say, they kind of suit you!" After all, they might have been capable swimmers in both their true and cursed forms, but the added floats that helped them relax further in the surf were certainly nice.

As far as the water itself went, it was a bit on the cooler side, but Sheik knew that it was going to warm up as the day continued. Granted, even once it hit its warmest point, it was still going to be cool enough to keep them in their cursed forms, but even so, it was already a perfect day to be at the beach. Sheik blinked at Neri's note about the waves, right before stating, "Considering the surf report we checked earlier, I think we'll be just fine. Even at its most turbulent, we should all be all right."

Speaking of all right, the disguised prince was most certainly okay, much like his two friends. Over the past week and a half, he had got about as used to his curse as he could, and although he still did not like the involuntary nature of it, he did not entirely mind his cursed form itself. It had already proven to be a rather interesting experience each time he transformed, and any of the earlier strangeness and awkwardness he had felt had all but dissipated now. There were still some occasional moments that caused some of his shyness to flare up, but on the whole, he was comfortable, and like his family, Sheik was certainly doing his best to make the most of it.

Swimming in the ocean might not have been any different, but Sheik was certainly enjoying it just as much as he did when he was a girl. His aquatic skills were all still in tact, and now that they were set in the water, so too was his playfulness… and that was something that he hoped would help ease the Spirit of Wisdom's lingering worries before they had a chance to flare up too much. With a glance and wink to the older Link, Sheik donned his goggles once more and stepped closer towards Neri, saying, "The waves are really calm right now… and the water is just as clear as ever. See?"

At that, the disguised prince carefully caught the Spirit of Wisdom in between his hands, right before pulling her closer to him. In one smooth motion, he slipped back underwater with Neri in tow, and only once she was set did he smile warmly to her. The visibility today was beyond clear, with both Link and Link easy to make out above their position and the surrounding area appearing as pristine as it was cyan. Hoping that the new viewpoint would help distract Neri closer towards relaxation, Sheik soon leant closer to her, nuzzling her gently with his forehead. With his voice a little warped from being underwater, he kept her secure as he stated, "I promise I'm all right, and all of us are going to be just fine today. We might transform, but this is just the same as any other beach outing… and we're all glad that you're here with us."

Tatl sighed a bit at Ciela's note regarding Leaf expending his energy, although she did soon wind up snickering somewhat at the Spirit of Power's quick response. He might have been a bit overly eager to retrieve driftwood for them, but at least he wasn't jumping to light anything up right now. Even if he was, she had a very strong feeling that her fellow pale yellow fairy would reintroduce him to a certain mighty hammer. Bobbing her glow a bit in agreement with Impa's assessment, Tatl noted, "It'll be all right. Eager or not, at least he's thinking ahead." For once.

As Leaf took to getting smaller pieces of driftwood and Ciela got set to follow after Impa, Tatl glanced up and down the shore before opting to join the red fairy for now. Fluttering by him as they happened upon a few more small pieces of driftwood, she stated, "Just make sure that the grand fire later isn't TOO grand. We don't want anyone finding our secret beach here from the smoke." The chance of anyone stumbling across it was low of course, but the Terminian fairy rather liked the secluded area they had found, and she'd rather it stay hidden from pretty much everyone.

Back in the water, Link couldn't help but laugh at his older nametwin's sudden, loud squeal in response to catching the words "grand fire." Admittedly, they likely wouldn't have the bonfire set up until much later in the day, but he was certainly looking forward to it as well. Both the welcome warmth as well as the chance to openly cook more food were going to be great.

Link laughed once more, this time a little sheepishly at Sheik's remark regarding the swim rings. The flotation devices might have had a more prominent role in this beach outing, but even so, the disguised prince was right… at least the two of them could still swim. Hearing that the swim rings suited them was certainly encouraging though, just as it was to confirm that the water was going to be pretty calm today. Nodding along with Sheik's mention of the surf report, Link added, "Yeah, I think we'll have some waves, but nothing too intense. This part of the beach is kind of like a cove, after all." They could get some breakers from time to time, but normally, it was bathwater calm here… yet another of the many reasons they loved this area.

As the disguised prince reassured Neri, caught her, and ducked underwater with her, Link blinked and raised his eyebrows in curiosity. Maybe his friend was helping ease the Spirit of Wisdom's mind even more by giving her a good, firsthand look at just how peaceful the surf was today? Or maybe this was an attempt to help Neri go ahead and go under the waves? Regardless, he couldn't help but grin at the sight, right before glancing to the older Link with a firm nod. "It's a little strange, but it's neat that it seems like we have even MORE ocean to enjoy like this!"
