...He had missed? How had his shots missed at point blank range?

"W-What are you!?" Benji demanded with a stutter, eyes wide. This was no rival gang member, alright. This was a Grade-AAA spook! Like a stroke of lightning it dawned on him that he had to flee; to get away from these three and run back to the others. But even if he could run, however, the skull-wearing creep had a completely twisted thing in mind. Dark images, horrible images, filled Benji's mind and he doubled-over in pain as a strange and horrific influence overcame him. "Get... out of my... head!" he rasped, eyes clenched shut. It was no use, as the forced what-ifs and maybes took a personal turn. His friends... his cohorts... Nath... all dead... all of them, except him. Was this a foretelling of the future? Was this... was this really what was in store for him? ...For them?

Feeling as if his head was a melon fit to burst, Benji could literally hear blood flowing through his temples and he dropped his firearm in the midst of such crippling agony. It fell to the asphalt with a noisy clatter, chamber still fully loaded. This thing... This abomination... It was receiving advice from another figure in the back, one that wore armour but didn't smell any less terrible. With a struggling eye Benji had managed to glance at his three mysterious attackers, although he wasn't sure what good it'd do to memorize their faces.

If the sheep-man had his way, Benji would be dead in the next ten minutes.

"I'm not... I'm not going down... without a fight," the man grunted between breaths. Time... He needed to buy the others time. Reaching into his back pocket and retrieving a pair of brass knuckles, Benji slipped the weapons over his fingers as the bulging muscles in his arms tensed. "I don't know who you are or what you serve, but you messed with the wrong street rat this side of the business district!" Benji may very well die on this day and maybe for nothing, but he'll be damned if he was going to let this creep just walk all over him. With a yell the man charged forward and swung, meaty fists of flesh and metal ready to pulverize that brittle sheep's skull into calcium powder.

Very good. Judge Mortis had heeded his brother's advice and was not disappointed, the sinner struggling beneath such gruesome thoughts. It had not been, of course, enough to fully disable the stubborn mortal into submission, but it was a decent start nevertheless. From his modest distance Judge Fear studied the brawl from afar, his hungering want to dispense justice gnawing deep within his essence. This was his brother's fight, however. Judge Mortis needed to understand how this world operated, what made it tick, and the shambling ghoul would not be able to learn properly if every opportunity was robbed from him.

    Crack!
...And he also needed to realize that their uniforms could not be so easily replaced, either. Chips of bone flew and Judge Fear spotted a pair of highly-illegal modifications worn by Judge Mortis' opponent.

"Careful, brother. While we had enjoyed a sssupply of dudsss thanksss to sssinnersss finding our uniformsss fassscinating, sssuch isss not the cassse here. What you have on your perssson isss all you have." Once upon a time Judge Fear had been quick to say that their uniforms were just mere trappings; funny how opinions change, especially on a world that required immortal forces to spend currency.

If his brother whiffed it today and whiffed it hard, the Dark Judge knew a certain number by heart.

((Apologies for that blank period, having some trouble with posting))

After that little failure to kill that his companion had exhibited, nothing much else happened, save for a deepening of the supernatural darkness in the alleyway that was in no way connected to how light it was outside, and had much more to do with the oppressive auras of the three beings in the entryway. Death had little to no supernatural detection ability, ironic as that was, and could not tell much difference between darkness and deeper darkness due to fear or anything like that, so while it may have been happening, he couldn't tell one way or the other. He was still stuck wondering about the bullets, whatever they were, that had flown past, and whether the little tool had more of them he could examine.

Ooh. He dropped it. With a quickness that gave the lie to his imposing stature, short as he was compared to his two companions, Death dipped down and around the other two to nab the tool of the ground to examine it, while his newest companion received several punches. That was not a concern, that which was dead could not die. He stepped back once again, holding the strange elbow shaped tool up to eye level where his glowing, baby blue orbs could get a closer look, while the other two continued to focus on the one who was about to die, in front of them.

Indeed, what was Mortis? The ghoul's influence enough to make the man drop his weapon, Death had quickly moved in to retrieve it from the ground. Good, that was one less weapon this sinner could use against them. Although Benji was not without his surprises.

With a brief slip of his hand into a pocket, a glint of brass was withdrawn, eliciting a hiss from the Dark Judge. Brass knuckles? Is that all this sinner had to offer? Even as two of his furious punches connected with Judge Mortis' head, bone splintering and teeth knocked loose, there was but a groaning crackle as his skull readjusted itself to look at the man. "Foolisssh mortal, your attemptsss to refussse judgement are futile." He hissed. While his brother meant well with his advice, the ghoul doubted that he would need a new uniform so soon with only a set of brass knuckled pummeling him. If the rest of the gang returned and had arms like those of the Mega City's justice department however...

This man needed to be killed off and fast. Despite his fighting spirit, Benji was merely a distraction from the real threat.

Curling his fingers, the Dark Judge lunged forward once more. However, instead of his grotesque claws grabbing at the man's neck, he aimed to dig them into his arms and squeeze. "How many are with you, ssssinner?" He hissed demandingly, all the while a prickling painful sensation of decay leaving the ghouls' fingertips and slowly eating away at the man's flesh. "Anssswer truthfully and you ssshall be releassssed." If he thought to do otherwise... The Dark Judge 's decay started to spread more rapidly, a burning acidic sensation soon shooting through the man's nerves as the scent of rotting flesh reached his nostrils.

    Touch of Mortis (decay!):

--Mortis' hands are grotesquely decayed, with long yellowed claws curling from their tips. The flesh had greened and started to split apart long ago, tight upon the musculature and tendons beneath.

Along with being gristly to behold, Judge Mortis' claws are quite fearsome, decaying anything they touch, whether it be flesh, metal or any other perishable item or structure.

That more or less should have worked, but it didn't. It didn't, and no longer did Benji wear a satisfied grin.

That... That sheep skull... It was actually the creep's face! Mortified and realizing that it was him who had picked the wrong fight this side of the business district, the burly man took several wobbly steps backward. "Y-You ain't real! Y-You ain't natural!" he gasped. Oh man, this wasn't the time for heroics. This wasn't the time at all, and Benji had thought to run for his life when the unfortunate happened. Much quicker than what an old corpse should be, the skull-wearing clown gripped at Benji's muscular arms and an unbearable pain overcame his senses. "AAAAAAAAARGH!" Fire. It felt like fire, and Benji chanced an agonized wince down at his arms. Correction, what had once been his arms.

His skin... His skin was rotting away like it was nothing more than paper, and Benji felt tears well-up as the aroma of his own rotting flesh reached his flaring nostrils. He could see his actual muscle tissue, strings of exposed fat, and even a few slivers of bone. "Nnghn... nhhmmph..." This... This shouldn't be happening. This shouldn't be happening.

Spook wrote:"How many are with you, ssssinner? Anssswer truthfully and you ssshall be releassssed."

    Oh yeah?

"Not... on your... life, pal!" In the ultimate act of defiance Benji boldly spat upon the shambling horror, knowing full well that such an act sealed his fate. Either way, he realized that death was simply in his cards whether or not he complied with the monster's interrogation. "I ain't sayin' nothin', so you might as well and just kill me already!" If Benji could survive over a dozen block fights with the rival gangs, he could handle being slowly decayed into nothing more than a pile of rotten bio-matter. "Once a Cobalt Son, always a Cobalt Son!" And no skull-wearing crazy was going to take that away from him.

Death was fascinated with the sinner's firearm?

Admittedly, Judge Fear had entertained the impish thought of telling the otherworldly presence to squeeze the trigger and embark on a wondrous discovery. This would serve no useful purpose other than cruel amusement, however, and the ghoul instead returned his attention upon Judge Mortis and his latest victim. "He will not anssswer you, asss expected," the Dark Judge hissed. Such stubborn creatures, mortals were. Unmoved by the sight of unnatural rot and incapable of detecting scents, Judge Fear was alienated from what an objective person would consider a heinous act of violence. In his twisted and warped mind, the ghoul thought this to be an act of just mercy.

"Sssuch disssressspect of the law," he hissed, watching his brother be crudely spat upon. Naturally the Dark Judge felt nothing, as he considered himself to be impartial and fair, but to see Judge Mortis belittled in such a vulgar way? No, that was almost too much.

    Almost.

A lengthy nail itched for a sinner's blood to coat it, but Judge Fear kept his temper leveled. "Ssshow him the meaning of misssery, brother. Let hisss ssscreamsss fill the air ssso that othersss may learn from hisss fate."

Yes. Enjoying the firearm to be sure. A wondrous journey of discovery would indeed be had when Death discovered the trigger, which he inevitably would. All that remained to be seen was which way the barrel was pointing when such a wonderful event occurred, and how many bullets were left in the chamber. Regardless, the small chunk of interconnected pieces of metal continued to occupy the lions share of Death's attention while a small corner of his mind continued to record all that happened in the vast stores of memory Death had for day to day occurrences, most of which never came back to the fore of his attention.

Like Fear, Death had no ability to smell and as such the odor coming from the boy was not a problem. The sight of rotting flesh would have startled him if he had that capacity, as it was he merely gazed at the boys arms with slightly more intensity, committing the ability of the dead one to memory for future reference, though not for his own protection. That would imply he believed his earthly form could rot, or imply that he cared for the upkeep of this earthly form. Wrong on both counts. Regardless, this piece of metal really was quite interesting, and his bony digits would find the trigger sooner or later, whatever a trigger was.

He was unnatural alright, but by no means was Judge Mortis not real. Despite his withered appearance, Mortis' grip was firm and sure, unyielding as Benji's skin started to peel and flake away, the rest of his arms soon following. Aside from pained whining and grunting, the man did not say anything, instead belligerently refusing to tell the Judge before spitting upon his bony face.

Very well, if the sinner wished to play that way, Mortis could humor him. Not in the way that an ISO would, however... Keeping his grip on the man, Judge Mortis turned to look back at his brother. "Yesss, he isss quite insssolent. But no matter." His head slowly turned back towards the gang member, his empty sockets staring down Benji's own fearful eyes. "If he will not ssspeak willingly, I will jussst have to pry the information from him myssself." If the gang member did not figure what the ghoul was about to do, he would learn soon enough.

Psychic tendrils bore themselves down into his brain, ripping at his consciousness and shifting through memories like they were files to skim over and toss aside. No, Benji, I will not kill you now. He hissed within the man's mind. Death isss your releassse, I sssstill have much more required from you. Judge Mortis rasped within the gang member's mind, a sadistic grin nearly palpable in his tone. Every rake of his claws within the man's mind was an icy stab, delving deeper and deeper until he found what he wanted. You will not dare resssissst a Judge of the law. To do ssso will only mean further sssuffering. As if to prove his point, the Dark Judge sent waves of pain through Benji's consciousness. twisting his discomforting presence until it felt like the ghoul was turning and wrenching the man's very insides. Sssshow me the Cobalt Ssssons. He commanded. Ssshow me and I will grant you mercy.

    Mercy....

    ...mercy.

The word echoed within Benji's mind, all the while Mortis' presence continuing to mangle and rip at his mind until it became near unbearable...

How long until Benji's will caved, and all he cherished was laid before the ghoul's eyes?

    "N-No..."

Benji's eyes rolled into their sockets until only the whites could be seen, his eyelids fluttering madly. This thing... This creature... It was digging into his mind, Benji able to feel each and every painful jab into his conscious. What did it want? Wait... Wait. It wanted the gang? It wanted everyone in the gang? "Mmph..." It didn't matter. It didn't truly matter, because this spook was just going to squeeze the information out of him whether Benji liked it or not. "You're... You're not going to offer me mercy," he rasped, throat dry. Damn it... Damn it! "You're just... You're just going to find my family and slay them! You're just going to... to..." But the pain was too much and Benji could not finish his sentence. These monsters... They were going to kill everyone! But what could he do?

He could fight, that's what. He could fight and be a Cobalt Son!

"No!" Benji cried out, his eyes returning to normal with a snap. Angered, the muscular man flexed whatever tissue he could and Benji defied this Judge, this perverse wielder of the badge. "I'm not going to tell you a damn thing, creep! You're just gonna have to pry the information from my cold, lifeless body!" Do it, because there was no other way! With several harsh headbutts Benji attempted to break free of the creature's grip, rotting arms and all.

First and for good measure... Judge Fear discreetly inched away from Death, as the ghoul wanted to be nowhere near the firearm when it discharged. Unlike the ethereal skeleton, the Dark Judge had gone through great lengths in acquiring this host. These bodies simply didn't manifest from pure air, after all. "Yesss, pry it from him," the ghoul encouraged his brother. Pry the information from this sinner's bones until he was nothing more than a pile of lifeless flesh!

Sinner wrote:"I'm not going to tell you a damn thing, creep! You're just gonna have to pry the information from my cold, lifeless body!"

    And speak of the devil.

"You heard the sssinner," Judge Fear hissed. He gestured with a clawed hand for Judge Mortis to commence with a most slow and agonizing sentence. "He hasss given you clear invitation to proceed with our judgement. Ssshow him the truth in jussstice, brother." Show him, and make the sinner pay for assaulting your righteous person yet again!

While Fear was making precautions for when Death stumbled upon the inevitable, Mortis' own search was coming up dry... Even with his own abilities, the flattening that had been described before dulled his claws, making the man's mind more like a chunk of stale bread than anything that could be described as easily rent and shifted through. With that prior attempt, it appeared that this stamina drain had also taken effect. Judge Mortis' stabs were nothing more than a limp-wristed slap at this point against Benji's consciousness... But perhaps if he managed to focus enough he may be able to manage something.

"You have chossssen your fate, ssssinner." Judge Mortis hissed alongside Fear. "If you will not give the information willingly then I have no choice but to ssssentence you to life-long imprisssonment. A sssentence that we will be ssspending together." Of course, the where of the matter was obvious as there was nowhere else for dear Benji to be incarcerated but within his own mind.

    Bonk!

The incarcerated were, as figured, wont to protest their well deserved circumstance. Having the bonier skull between the two of them, Judge Mortis merely tilted his head at the frantic gang member. What had he hoped to accomplish in that little stint? The ghoul could not rightfully receive a concussion and fractures were a minor inconvenience at worst. An irritated hiss escaped the undead Judge's teeth, before reeling his own head back and slamming it right into Benji's.

Consider that the first act of your sentence, as the ghoul aimed to slam Benji's consciousness down into the depths of his mind with Mortis clawing after him.
