    [!] Danger on the Horizon

    Time: 10:21 AM
    Date: February 11th, 0004

A crisp, brisk morning in Portal City.

The clatter of feet on the pavement in tempo with the hum of tires upon the black tar of the streets gave way to the lullaby of a typical morning commute to work for many a citizen. For many of the populace all was well, everything was peaceful, and nothing was going to go wrong. As this was expected and many had fallen into a comfortable state of existence. However, if any of those dillying dallying on along there way still believed that after living in this gamma then they deserved a good swat upside their precious little noggins! Soon the dears would see, they would know as well.

No, things were going to have a shake down, as expected  with the circle of peace and chaos that was as endless as the ouroboros. Circumstances would always arise, the mouth of peace chasing the tail of disarray as they continued a circling dance. But this was something the User's knew the best.

Still, that didn't stop the ever persisting creep that had been crawling closer and closer, over mountains it had wretched through, stone simply wound around trapped much like the forest before it as the thorns continues on their way, the metropolis still very much in the way of its path. Now though, a small, trifle of a space between any army and a city. But from the quiet grind and crunch from the thorny forest progressing over the land, but as it slithered closer and closer there was another sound. Like the drums of war, a groaning and moaning has erupted out and reverberated out through the air. The loud noise shook windows, rumbling the earth sounding more akin to the calls of some ghastly beast then thorns. It made the call, sounding off only once more falling back to the silence it once had.

    They are here.

    And so were they.

One-by-one the ISOs materialized in a ring, the nine foremost guardians convening to discuss yet another threat to their immaculate city. Eight stood outward while the ninth remained in the center, many cyan eyes winking in the dim lighting of the Firewall Penitentiary.

"A new infection has been detected outside of our borders, to the north," said one buzzing ISO.
Another nodded to further added, "And it shows no signs of stopping. Indeed, it is almost as if the infection believes us to be nonexistent." A concerning thought, given past experiences, but one that was necessary in order to pave way for mandated security measures. What could be done? What was the most effective protocol? Could this infection be stopped or would it have to be repelled for an indefinite amount of time? These questions would pose no easy answers, and the ISOs were well aware that this situation was all too similar to one nearly a year ago.

The innermost ISO looked up and gave its own thoughts. "We cannot risk our city becoming overrun with this chaotic infection," it stated. The rest acknowledged their kin silently. "Ergo, we have no choice. A firewall is the most beneficial preventative method we have at our disposal."

It was possible that the citizens within may not approve of this.
It was also possible that they may revolt or loudly protest.
One ISO took the floor and proposed an idea for hopeful mitigation of the masses. "One of us will visit the news station and inform the public of our decision," they droned. "I nominate myself if this is acceptable with the consensus."

    "Agreed."
    "Agreed."
    "Agreed."
    "Agreed."
    "Agreed."
    "Agreed."
    "Agreed."
    "Agreed."

    And so it was spoken.

"We have our directives," began the ninth ISO. "Spread out and position yourselves for containment; Firewall.exe is to begin immediately." The chrome defenders faded from view with a static-like crackle and were no more, the glow of their eyes slowly dissipating in their wake. It was time to barricade their city and keep those living within safe.
