Nightmare might have given away his next tactic by announcing his real power, but when the end result was going to be the same, when he was still going to engulf his opponents in the same darkness he was about to cloud the land in, he knew full well that it hardly made a difference. If anything, it would help the two of them even better realize just how foolish their plight was. They might have gotten several lucky hits on him before he could dart away, but this battle was not yet over. He still had more than enough time to end the two of them, and he was going to enjoy his conquest even more now that he had revealed his true form.

The demon could not help but chortle triumphantly as not only did his ramming attack against the Sheikah connect, it had hit her hard enough to send her flying backwards toward the fountain. She might have been taller than him, but he still had the might of darkness on his side, and just as the water washed over her from her landing in the fountain, so too would his nightmares soon wash over the land. What was rather curious about her splash landing though was the fact that she too had managed to change form… instead of a tall humanoid, she was now a giant animal that quite reminded him of a Grizzo! The black and white markings were different that the trademark stripes of that simple creature, but no matter what form she took, he was still set to combat her.

… even when she got a lucky attack to connect against him.

"RRGH!" Nightmare growled in pain as the three hit combo caught him right in his core, but before he could bounce back from those blows, his gaze narrowed at the words uttered by Sir Meta Knight. With a deep chuff as he steadied his position in the air, the demon rounded his gaze and set his sights on the masked puffball, just in time to snarl as he was hit by another flurry of stinging sword beams. True, he was from Dreamland and would likely pose more of an annoyance to his plans if he let him off too easily… the Sheikah might have damaged him the most, but right now, perhaps it was best to focus on a target that might cause more trouble than he himself was worth.

"If you insist." At that, Nightmare charged forward, but before he was upon the warrior, his cape opened up and billowed in his wake, revealing his swirling, tornado-like core. With an upward sweep, the demon dropped down from above, hoping to stab his foe with the sharpest point of his vortex.

"Grr!" Impa let out a short growl as she landed from her attack against Nightmare, pleased to see that not only had she connected with each hit in the combination, but that she had also dealt decent damage. His transformation seemed to have provided him with a distinct advantage over his spherical form, but at the very least, he himself did not appear to have gained any additional power. This form might have afforded him some stronger attacks, but the Sheikah-turned-bear was confident that both she and Sir Meta Knight could take him down.

Just as she had expected, any of Meta Knight's surprise over her curse being activated was short-lived, and her companion was set to not only unleash an attack of his own at Nightmare, but also make a declaration against him. Even with as clever as the demon might have been, he still took the bait as an invitation, and a moment later, he was rushing towards the masked warrior. A snarl appeared across Impa's muzzle as the demon swept upward, revealing a powerful tornado underneath his cloak. Was this the core of Nightmare? Whether it was or not, he appeared set to expose it in order to retaliate against Meta Knight. Even with as swift as his charge was though, his assault was thankfully a narrow miss. That gave the panda just the opening she'd hoped for.

Falling forward so that she was running on all fours for the moment, with a speed that belied her current size, Impa charged right towards Nightmare's unguarded back. As soon as she was upon him, she reared up on her hind legs, letting out a fierce roar as she swiped at his tornado-like core. With two more mighty swipes of her paws to follow up her first attack, Impa retook an upright defensive stance, making sure to be set to follow the demon no matter which of them he attacked next.

Nightmare might have been a demon that made his home in the darkness, but from the darkness came shadows, and just as the element she guarded, the Sage of Shadow was set to put an end to his nefarious plan.

With three more successful strikes, Sir Meta Knight's confidence grew. Yes, they would surely be able to take down Nightmare, just as he had been taken down before, long ago--it was only a matter of time.

It had been a bit of a wound to his pride to see Nightmare focus on Impa, but now the demon had accepted his challenge, and had turned his attention to Meta Knight. Foolishly Nightmare exposed his core in an attack, but as fast as the attack was, the knight was still fast enough to avoid the attack entirely.

But Impa was faster than he--as soon as the attack missed, the warrior-turned-Grizzo (or some such being) charged at Nightmare, striking at him with her claws. Only one of the strikes hit, but it was a powerful blow nonetheless, and Meta Knight wasted no time in following it with three strikes of Galaxia.

Nightmare cursed under his breath as Meta Knight completely dodged his tornado drill attack. He had set it up perfectly and that accursed warrior had somehow still managed to evade it! No matter, though... he still had plenty of energy left, and that only meant that he would have to strike his opponent even harder next time. As unfortunate as it was though, Nightmare himself wound up being the next one to bear the brunt of a hard-hitting attack, as the transformed-Sheikah had managed to dash behind him and meet him with a trio of mighty swipes.

Even with the roar she had unleashed, the demon had not expected her to have such luck, but fortunately, her strong hit against his core was sandwiched by two near misses. They were close, close enough that they had managed to bounce painlessly off of his cape, but all the same, what mattered was that they HAD missed. That was more than what could be said for the next barrage he was met with, courtesy of one Meta Knight. Hissing in pain as the first two of three thrown sword strikes connected with his core, Nightmare glowered at his opponents despite their close proximity to him.

Throwing his arms back and hoping to knock them away with the force of his gesture, Nightmare locked his sights right back on Sir Meta Knight. An instant later, he shot skyward before aiming right at him with another powerful drilling attack.

Impa growled as she realized that only the second of her three strikes had connected, but at the very least, her middle attack had dealt a decent bit of damage. The fact that she was still able to fight regardless of her curse having been activated was something she was very grateful for, and although at the very back of her mind she did look forward to returning to her true form as soon as she could, far more than that, she was completely focused on helping her companion best this demon. The two were working well together just as they had throughout this entire adventure, and even though Nightmare was far more powerful than any of the other monsters they had faced today, she was still determined to bring him down all the same.

From the Sheikah's own strong swipe of her claws, Sir Meta Knight was quick to follow it up with a flurry of sword slashes, striking true with the first two shortly before Nightmare thrust his arms outward in an attempt to force them back. Impa stood her ground however, keeping her footing steady and already starting to charge up a good bit of magic in her right paw so that she could unleash it as soon as she had a good opening.

Keeping her red gaze locked on the demon as he bolted into the air again, Impa narrowed her eyes as she saw him make up for his previous miss against Meta Knight. Nightmare had hit him right with the point of his tornado core, but before he could pull back again, she was set to strike.

Dashing forward and suddenly appearing just in front of the demon, Impa shot her paw forward in a powerful, shadow magic-imbued punch. Whether she connected or not, and whether or not she was able to add any lingering damage or not, hopefully, that attack would help cut through Nightmare, showing him that even if Galaxia was enough to strike him down, the blade did not have to battle alone.

    Shadow Strike (melee/shadow energy):

--Whilst she is skilled at both armed and unarmed combat, Impa is also quite learned in magic, and she can readily add such effects to her melee attacks. For the Shadow Strike, she empowers her blade or bare hand with the energy of shadows, thus enabling her to deal more damage to her opponent, and grant her the chance for lingering smolder damage dealt by her element.

After the successful strikes, Sir Meta Knight was knocked backward by Nightmare's outstretched arms, though he made little more than a grunt in response. While the attack did not hurt, Meta Knight wound up with one of his numb wings flopped in front of his face, which blinded him temporarily. It was only for a few seconds as he pushed the wing away, but it was enough. Too late, he saw Nightmare diving at him, and by the time he managed to hop back to his feet, the attack hit.

Growling, he staggered back, holding his head in one gloved paw. It hadn't hurt too badly, but it did daze him for a moment. It was during that moment that Impa struck Nightmare with a powerful swipe of her paw, dealing some impressive damage. Nightmare would be wearing out soon--which was a good thing, since once again Meta Knight found his energy starting to wane.

But he wasn't done yet. Charging at his foe once more, he launched another strike with Galaxia, and followed it with two sword beams.

Although he did not drill that meddling Meta Knight for nearly the damage he had hoped, at the very least, Nightmare had connected with his second try of the same attack strategy. It was simple, but every hit counted, and he soon regained his relaxed smirk even as he flew up from where he had nailed his foe. Yes, that was right… each chance to chip away was a wonderful one, and he was set to resume his assault as soon as he could get a better vantage point.

Than vantage point came too late though as once again, that accursed Sheikah proved to be incredibly swift, soon meeting him with another attack. Nightmare growled as her claws tore through his very core, their own strength intensified by the shadow magic that she had managed to cast again. So that form of hers still enabled her to use magic, did it? Well, that was simply annoying, but not nearly as annoying as the attacks that hit him next. Letting out a sharp hiss as Meta Knight slashed his sword at him with a sharp blow, the demon soon found a pair of sword beams headed right towards him. He barely managed to evade the first, but in dodging that, he found himself getting hit squarely by the second. The two had dealt another surprising bit of damage, but even if it was two against one, Nightmare was certain to keep his focus just where it was requested.

"You wished for me to fight you… so be it. I will give you far more where that came from!" At that, Nightmare unleashed another flurry of stars, hoping to land at least a couple of the masked puffball.

Impa was pleased that her Shadow Strike had connected, and it soon appeared that her attack had set up a perfect opening for Sir Meta Knight to follow up with a combination of his own. Between the slash of his sword and a well-placed sword beam, they had both dealt a good bit of damage to the demon. As expected,Nightmare was more than ready to bounce back and retaliate, and sure enough, he locked his sights on the masked warrior once more.

With another declaration made, Nightmare unleashed a familiar attack, a volley of blue stars, right for Meta Knight. Two stars hit their intended target, but even as they were connecting, Impa was already preparing her next maneuver. Focusing for a moment, she flexed her front paws before magic akin to the Shadow Blade she had used previously appeared from them, forming semi-tangible, shadowy extensions of the claws she possessed as a panda. With the magic set, she was quick to leap to the attack, slashing at Nightmare three more times and hoping to give her companion another opening even as he might have to regain his stamina.
