    Hopelessly Illogical

Ghouls, transformations, and now beings of what were supposed to be organic matter dispersing into code. Was this place truly another universe entirely, or simply a nightmare of everything illogical and near impossible to make sense of? Turning another corner on the busy city streets, the AI  made his way down to what was labeled as the Recleationcl Lislricf on his map. Or at least his partially readable map... In fact, that name in itself seemed like it was more the culprit of another badly smudged grease stain than anything intelligible.

If only they could have found a vagabond who used their map as a map and not as a colorful napkin.

Regardless, what he could make out on the map was a building, its name KARR managed to translate out as it had been scribbled over with some drunken scrawl of someone's phone number and a poor doodle of what looked to be... Well maybe it was better not to say. Or at least, he thought he translated it well enough from what he could scan. Rearranged and reformed, the letters read out as Library, and if there was any logic left in this place, it may hold some answers as to why this place was so... Strange.

Merging across a few busy lanes, the Trans-Am's scanners picked up the stately looking building of knowledge a few blocks ahead. To think, it only that distance which kept the AI from acquiring some sense, and maybe a new more intelligible map. As the traffic flowed, so too did the wayward supercomputer, turning into the Library's drive and taking a space in the parking lot. After all, it would be rather strange if he were to just drive into the front door. KARR kept his windows tinted as he went to work, attempting to access a database within the facility.

Hopefully this place was not as advanced as he presumed it was.

(Coinflip: if HIT KARR accesses the Library's database, if MISS he's locked out.)

Much to the AI's pleasant surprise, accessing the database had been relatively easy. Within milliseconds he tapped into the Library's information storage, snaking his way through code and programming alike until he came before a single, simple command:

    D : //Solid State Library Database

    Search:

Already bringing forth his interests in a manner arranged by priority, KARR quickly input his first inquiry. Death was placed into the empty search bar before he allowed the system to commence a search. In under a second pages upon pages of articles and references were displayed before him, however not all to what he was looking for. At the top of the list were Archaeoscience and You: How to Achieve Immortality Through Fossilization and the more serious Death and Grief Counseling: How to Deal with Loss which was just as quickly tossed aside, as were the more asinine topics of more religious philosophies on the subject. However, the few that gleaned on the topic of Undeath and Reanimation he decided to quickly read over and commit to his own databanks for future reference. Otherwise the list went on and on...

Until the AI found something that seemed to stand out above others.

On the Tenth page he had read through, the bottom line held a rather promising reference. Tapping through the link, KARR read through a summary of an article that dealt with the ways of death on this world, aptly named: Nothing But 1's and 0's. Well, perhaps vaguely promising, given that the author themselves claimed only theory and information through the experience of others. However, fortune did favor the bold and curious, and so the AI eagerly accessed the PDF file that came with it. Reading through it did not take very long, but what was learned already gave some insight into the rather curious nature of this universe.

The Pool of Souls, a bird faced man, pods... The first name registered in the AI's memory, the first day he had arrived he had heard the Dark Judge mention such a place. Given the cases of the ones the author spoke to regarding the place, it apparently did exist given the continuity and recurring similarities. Trials, waiting periods... it seemed this place had a whole structure to death and rebirth. As for why the boy had exploded into code however... That was where the article turned from solid records to theory. Expanding from the possibility that everyone here is actually mere code, to a sort of transformation and extraction process that turns the body into code, it certainly gave plenty of possibilities for filling in the blanks, but nothing wholly concrete. Regardless, it too was saved to his data banks and stored away.

Going back to the topic of the Pool of Souls, KARR placed it in the search engine before giving his commands. Any useful information regarding the place was quickly looked over, though many of them seemed to repeat each other in explanation. Then again, there were not many texts written on the subject, possibly for that very reason he quickly figured. Any other details that seemed useful in the writings he copied and stored away, simple snippets that varied between different authors. That done, it was time to move onto the second priority on the AI's list of things to look up on his visit.

    Mainly a new map.

Exiting out of his current search, KARR input his third command into the database. A few different types of maps appeared on the list that the engine managed to pull up. Surface maps, Street maps... Satellite map? Curious, KARR accessed the third option, soon finding himself face to face with a rather intriguing sight. Before him was the planet itself, landmasses and oceans laid out on the globe that was their world. Instantly he zoomed in on where the city was located, quickly  commiting the crisp and unsmudged imagery to his map database. Finally no struggle to make sense of streets under coffee stains and questionable doodles! No streets bled together from previous exposure to water, and everything was completely eligible. KARR wasted no time replacing the old map with this new information, deleting the decrepit joke from his database.

Looking back over his list, KARR attempted to look into some of the more vague subjects. Perhaps it was time he filled in the blanks from Kev's explanation of Cybertronians... When searched, the AI came up with a few news articles, mainly concerning past happenings on the planet. Phazon seemed to be one of the more exclusive topics to appear on the database, with the robotic creatures added as a mention along with a strange organization. Interestingly enough, the whole ordeal was a near parallel with what that one hobo had spoken of earlier on... The article was stored away for reference before the AI went on to find more, taking what information he could on the subject.

Once satisfied with his search, KARR disconnected himself from the database. Pleasantly enough, the entire research project took but ten minutes. Firing his turbines, the AI pulled out of his parking space, turning out onto the road and making his way back to the Dark Judge.
