    What the Digimon Dragged In

Post by Grodus on Tue Dec 03, 2013 8:26 am

It was thankfully not a very long journey to the Inn, and with Nym leading the way there were no worries of getting lost either. Grodus was grateful for that, as by the time the two of them arrived there, he was growing exhausted enough to have to use his staff to keep himself steady on his feet. The only rest he had since losing to Mario and arriving in this strange place was that short nap on the bench. While that did help, it wasn't enough for him to fully recover from his ordeal.

That would take being asleep for at least a handful of hours, so his auto-repair systems could take care of what internal damage they could. The technomage had a feeling they wouldn't be able to do anything about the strange weakness that struck him upon arrival to this world, but at this point he would just be happy to walk across a room without feeling like he was going to fall over.

Grodus made his way up to the front desk, his staff clinking faintly every time the end was placed against the floor. When he finally got to the desk, he glanced around for the innkeeper. "Hello? I would like a room . . . preferably before I pass out standing here..."

((Going to wait until M-chan's in a better spot to finish the first thread, but I figured we could do the inn thread in the meantime . . . only thing to keep in mind is, Grodus didn't get the 'your universe is destroyed' speech from Kev in Sanctuary until December 2nd.))

Oh, Nym was happy to help! He always felt good to assist those who were new or confused, because he sure was and at least he had people to help him! Some may not be so lucky... or worse, meet someone not very nice--like X... A shiver went down his spine momentarily, but he kept his tail wagging as he opened the door to the inn and allowed Lord Fancy to step through. He still had questions he wanted answered, but Grodus was far too tired to probably answer them, and by now, the dog probably seemed fairly annoying.

"If you go to the counter there, you can get help from Link! He is really nice and has floating little balls of light that talk!" Mystifying!

As Grodus was occupied with getting Link's attention, Nym began to sniff around the area for any new scent he may have missed earlier that day, possibly to see if there were any other new people that came through. His nose said no, but he continued to sniff around, circling around Grodus on the ground and going under furniture.

Well, what else was he supposed to do? His 'companion' would most likely say 'leave', but Nym wasn't going to let himself go just yet. He had to make sure his new 'friend' got a room and was settled! "I smell donuts from earlier!" His thought was broken by this scent, and lo! He found a donut he had hid earlier that morning! Behind the sofa, just where he had left it, untouched and covered with a newspaper.

[[[I'm sorry it took so long to reply! I don't even know how I missed this thread completely until now *buries head in shame*]]]

There was a bell attached to the top of the front door and presently, it rung cheerrily as the digimon and technomage made their way inside. In the innkeeper's office, Link lifted his head from the catalogue he was skimming through and stopped trying to figure out how much all the new stationery would cost including tax. He looked at the clock then yawned and stretched his arms upwards. Ah, three thirty in the afternoon. He should go find the others and see if they're up for an afternoon tea and sn--

The innkeeper frowned then looked the door that led to the reception. Was that...

It certainly sounded like it. Yes, it most definitely was the sound of somebody walking with a cane or staff.

Well, that was curious. Link hopped from his chair and started his way to the door just in time to hear an unfamiliar voice call out and also Nym's voice. Wait... PASS OUT?!

With an added sense of urgency, he rushed for the door, opening it to....well... gape at the being at the other side of the reception desk. Wow...that's a very....round...head.

"Aa-um," he sounded sheepishly then quickly took a seat. "Of course, a room," his first message on his digiglass said. "I could get you set up really quickly. Stay awake a bit longer. We have four floors, would you have a preference?"

If the new person was as tired as he made himself sound, then he'd probably choose first floor...

    We do have elevators."

Grodus had glanced down to see Nym sniffing around; thankfully he wasn't moving himself or he might have tripped on the blue dog creature. The digimon's sniffing led away from him soon enough, under the furniture and eventually behind one of the couches. The sound of something being devoured came from back there, but the mage had since lost interest, more concerned with waiting for the innkeeper to appear.

Apparently said innkeeper was close enough to hear him, and came out from the office behind the reception desk. Grodus was a bit surprised himself, seeing as the innkeeper appeared to be a young boy... a young boy that was mute, given the quick writing upon a tablet which was then held up for the mage to read.

It was growing increasingly difficult for him to concentrate, but he could hold out for a little while longer. Passing out in the middle of the lobby was so undignified, so Grodus would try to keep it from happening if he could help it. Hmm, several floors, and there were thankfully elevators, but honestly he didn't care where he ended up. "If all the rooms are similar, I do not have a preference, other than getting there quickly . . . this first floor will be fine."

((It's fine, Kiki, you were under the weather at the time!))

Yes, Nym was off in his own little world as Grodus was tended to by Link. Of course, he had to come by and let out a hearty "Hello!" before sniffing around the floor again and taking immediate interest in the scent of Grodus. He had not noticed it before as he was far too excited, but the strange being smelled... well, strange! Actually, very strange! It was unfamiliar, unlike anything he had ever smelled, and he liked it. So for a time, Nym merely sat down and kept sniffing Grodus' clothing until he mentioned the first floor would do. He was going to stay here after all!

"Hooray! I live on the fourth floor with Aya. She is my mother! She is very nice, if you need anything, you can ask us!" he said with a happy demeanor and tail wagging wildly. New people were always so interesting, and Grodus smelled so nice... "you smell really really good! Out of this world!"

    Good choice of wording there.

First floor it shall be then! With speed that came from much practice, Link pulled out the forms required for himself and the single one the new being needed to sign. He also flicked through the drawer of cardkeys to find one that was the closest to the lobby to minimize the walking required to reach it.

Without further ado, one form and a cardkey for room 103 were set on the table.

    Date: November 13th, 2013
    Room: 103
    Name: __________________
    Signed: ________________

"Just write your name and sign the form an the room is yours."

Aa! So there was Nym! Link gave a chuckle and waved. The digimon was as happy and energetic as always. As Nym moved on to start sniffing his new tenant, Link laughed and tried his best NOT to sniff the air curiously to see if he could detect this scent Aya's charge was talking about. That aside, Link opened another drawer and extracted out a handful of cookies before reaching over the reception desk and offering the chocolate chip treats to Nym.

Well, at least the boy was true to his word that he could take care of this quickly. Grodus was presented with a card key and a form to sign, along with a pen. The technomage signed the paper as best he could, hoping it didn't come out too messily given his exhaustion.

While he did that, he felt something ruffling the bottom edge of his robes. Hmm, was Nym sniffing him for whatever reason? At the compliment, Grodus blinked in confusion, though no one would have been able to see it. "I do? Ah, thank you, I think..."

Hopefully the cookies would provide a distraction long enough that the little dog creature wouldn't follow him into his new room. The only problem was, he wasn't quite sure which direction the rooms were in. Grodus handed over the form and glanced around, but just asked in the end. "And there you are... now, that room would be in which direction?"

Yessss the sniffing! It continued for a few moments before ears appeared over the counter, and Nym ever so slowly rose his snout over as well, sniffing the air and the motioning over to the paper. Sniff... wait! That smell! It was sweet, sugary and full of chocolate! Nym popped the rest of his head up and wagged his tail, for it was... cookies! "Are those for me?" he asked curiously before they were pushed across the counter towards him. "Ooh! Thank you!" Grabbing them and sitting under the counter, he munched them ferociously, having not eaten in a few hours.

He missed his lunch, the third most important meal of the day! Breakfast, snack, Lunch, snack, Dinner, second Dinner and then midnight snack!

What? A growing Digimon needed the vitamins! And lucky for Grodus, Nym stopped eating them like a starving hyena and instead, remembering his manners, ate the rest in a slow (but still fast paced) manner, munching loudly still and periodically sniffing Grodus and trying to figure out his odd scent. It was strange and intriguing... but these cookies were far more delicious!

Now you have Link wondering what he himself smelt like and it was so tempting to raise an arm up to his nose and discreetly take a sniff. Aa, but that would not look very professional at all so he push away that bit of curiosity and addressed the next question his new tenant had.

Link waved towards the stairs then presented a new message, this one written on a piece of paper so that.... pause, peek at form for the name, Grodus could take it with him. "Past the stairs, past the elevators, there's a set of double doors to the right. Through those and your room should be the second room on the left."

He hoped that the directions were clear enough and that Grodus could make it there without passing out midway. He could offer to carry him to the room with the help of his power bracelets but it would probably wound the other's pride... Now the innkeeper cannot help but start to wonder how much his new tenant might weight and what kind of hold would be the safest to carry him in if he was to do so.

The boy also kept an eye on Nym, wondering if he would be following his new tenant to his new room. He was glad he liked the cookies but would have to remember to try not to look too guilty if Aya came by. The Digimon was cute! Link can't help but want to feed him snacks! Maybe he should feed it healthy snacks like carrot sticks instead....

Another note, and on a piece of paper this time rather than the tablet device the boy held. Grodus took it and read the words quickly, glad that it wasn't too much more of a walk to finally get to a room. "Just over there, then? I should be able to make it that far."

With that said, the technomage started making his way in the direction of the rooms, making sure Nym currently wasn't underfoot as he got going. Grodus was quite tired indeed by that point, but as he said, he did have enough left in him to make it all the way. It took him a moment to get the card key to work correctly, as he wasn't sure which direction the stripe needed to be swiped, but afterward the door clicked open.

Heading inside, he closed the door behind him and took a look around the room, but the only thing that caught his attention was the bed in the distance. Not wasting any time, Grodus headed over to it, propping his staff up against the bedside table. He didn't even bother removing his cape before more or less collapsing onto the bed, asleep before his head even hit the pillow.
