The sinner had come for judgement on this day but not, as the Dark Judge predicted, willingly. Judge Fear heard the telltale sound of a weapon being cocked and that was all he really needed to hear. Wait, did this sinner proclaim himself to be Judge Death? The distraction was all the sinner needed before he promptly fired several rounds into the ghoul's emaciated chest.

    Ping! Ping! Ping!

Bullets ricocheted off the Dark Judge's helm, Judge Fear angrily hissing as he lifted up both gangly arms to protect the most valuable part of his physical form. He felt the bullets penetrate him and tear through, rotten flesh and fabric sent flying from the merciless barrage. A new smell, a sickly smell, wafted into the air and the ghoul loudly growled, "Fool! You cannot kill what does not live!" The sinner could have been using an atomic bomb for all the Dark Judge cared; an automatic rifle equated to the fulfilling lump sum of nothing. This imposter was not Judge Death, far from it! Judge Fear had been an imbecile to let this sinner momentarily daze him. The man should be punished, yes. Sensing that the mortal's mind was not guarded nor fortified by mental connections, the Dark Judge began his counterattack. "It is punishable by death to attack a Judge of the law," he hissed, savouring those words. He then immediately reached out into the air with a clawed hand and deliberately squeezed.

A sudden torrent of malicious, psychic energies flowed from between the Dark Judge and the sinner; the latter thrust into an inescapable nightmare. "You let them die," Judge Fear's voice rattled throughout the man's furious conscious. "You let them die when you could have been here to protect them. You have only yourself to blame, sinner. Judge not the guilty for you, yourself, are wretched and damned." Listen, absorb, repent...

"They are in a better place now; a place without you," continued the Dark Judge. His hold on the sinner's mind only tightened, fingers clenching something intangible. "Why don't you join them, sinner? Turn your anger within and wield your firearm with renewed purpose. Plant its barrel against your head and die."

Don't you want to see your family again, happy and devoid of pain?

With bullet that had cut through the killer's flesh, a sickly scent wafted forth. The man's nose crinkled in disgust, looking over his adversary with a new found realization. He smelled dead, past rotten and all the way into full decomposition. Did this beast roll in the dead bodies, was he a corpse himself? Such thoughts were roughly shoved aside when a presence entered his mind, cold and grasping with firm claws. "No! I-It was not my fault!" he screamed, the man's hold on his rifle tensing. "I didn't know! I didn't know!"

This creature, this thing that claimed itself to be a judge of the law... It anything but lawful and just, lawmen did not murder, they did not kill without discrimination or reason. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD YOU DAMN ZOMBIE!" he roared, raising him gun for another round of shots. Or at least he would have if not for the vehicle that came screaming into his back. With a hearty crack he was sent rolling over the car's hood and onto the ground, the gun thrown from his hands for a short distance. "Agh!" The man clutched his leg, fresh blood pooling from where the car had struck and fracture bone.

However, he still had one more trick up his sleeve. Reaching into his pants pocket he withdrew a hunting knife, serrated and sharp from diligent upkeep. Glaring at the ghoul he flung it forward, stainless steel glinting in the light as it spun end over end, aimed to bury itself in the creature's breast. As for the car, he looked to his gun and quickly crawled to it, picking up the weapon and firing a volley at the rampaging vehicle.

Well, that certainly was a new trick from the Dark Judge. KARR placed an optic on the ghoul as he outstretched his hands, his voice silent yet the attacking gunman displayed obvious distress in his voice and actions. Just what had he done to make him act in such a way? The AI gave brief pondering to it as he ran down the man, managing to fracture his leg and send the gun clattering to the ground. Perfect, this made dealing with him far easier and safer for the both of them. Despite the man's handicap however, it appeared he had a few more tricks up his sleeve, tossing a knife at the Dark Judge before retrieving his weapon.

In his panic however, neither the knife nor the bullets fired had made their targets. KARR turned about once more, engines screaming as he charged towards the fallen man. While not completely vulnerable, he was still prone to attack, the AI detecting no hidden armor beneath his baggy clothing. He would make this short, quick. The longer this man stayed alive and screaming, the higher the risk was that a passerby would possibly come to help him. Again the AI rushed headlong towards the man, the car's body aligned to crush the self proclaimed "Judge Death"'s chest in.

Not as successful as the days of old... Judge Fear had come to expect that Portal Breach was the culprit. "Ignorance is no excuse when one must defend their loved ones," the Dark Judge argued. By now his entire fist was violently shaking, the fiend's mental grasp all but certain. "You were not with them, sinner. Why? Where had you gone that proved more valuable than your family's protection? Ah, but I already know the answer..."

A knife was flung into the air and it, with startling accuracy, had forcefully lodged itself into the Dark Judge's chest. The action was useless, however. Judge Fear withdrew the knife's serrated edge from his body's torn flesh and nonchalantly threw it aside, unhindered.

The embrace was cold - brutal. There wasn't a crevice in this man's conscious that the Dark Judge had overlooked. Judge Fear weaved his psychic collective through the sinner's mind, burrowing and clawing his way with sadistic abandon. "The answer is because you abandoned them, sinner. You abandoned them and your post. How can you truly live with yourself knowing what you have done?" Come now, mortal... Surely you can see the reasoning in the Dark Judge's voice. This process was agonizing for you, wasn't it? Are you not, perhaps, tired of all this suffering? "Pick up your weapon," the fiend softly whispered; a tickling breeze in the sinner's ears. "Pick it up and hold yourself accountable for your sins. If not, you will continue to be tormented by the vehicle now pressing its tremendous weight upon you. Is this what you want, truly?"

The firearm was right there, sinner. All you needed to do was follow the Dark Judge's command and rest its barrel against your temple. Your demise would be quick and painless... The same could not be said if you chose the latter, however.

"I will not ask you a third time," hissed Judge Fear.

Even with the man's cries for the ghoul to leave his mind, the voices still remained. Malicious hissing filled his brain with incessant demands that he take his life, that he was to blame for the death of his family. No, it could not be, he was asleep, how was he to know that his family would be attacked? No one ever bothered the farm, and there had not been any signs of suspicious activity. However, the more the creature talked, the more he began to see its reasoning.

He had not been as vigilant as he should have been, the man had let drink and indulgence cloud his mind when he was supposed to be protecting his homestead. Just like his other brothers in arms. He turned his head just in time to see the car's nose inches from his face before it passed over him, bones snapping and shattering under its wheels. Another pained cry escaped his mouth, the car's speed pulling him into a short roll behind it. Blood sputtered from his mouth as he wheezed breathlessly, taking his one good arm and reaching down into another pocket.

"I may have been unable to save them from you, but I will suffer until oblivion if it means I can kill your sorry ass." he wheezed, pulling forth a small, red vial. Popping it open with his thumb and held it to his lips and quickly tipped it back, the contents draining down his throat with a hiss. In seconds the liquid began to take effect, bruises and cuts mending and bones quickly setting and knitting themselves back together. "You were dead once," He snared, filled with new strength as he got to his feet, gun in hand. "I can damn well make you dead again!"

Surprisingly the man still spoke even after his chest had caved in, watching with satisfaction as he clung so desperately to life. The man was outnumbered and outgunned, the Trans-Am an armored herald of destruction and the Dark Judge an avatar of death itself. It was only when the man pulled forth a small vial did the AI pause, pulling fast his brake and slewing the car around to face the man alongside Judge Fear. He scanned the vial and its contents as the man drank it down, the amber light upon his nose sweeping from side to side as he regarded the liquid curiously. Whatever was in it showed signs of regenerative properties, a bio-fluid made specifically for quick medical purposes.

KARR's falter spelled the man's return to health, X-rays showing bones quickly mending and wounds coagulating before quickly covered by fresh skin. "Your actions are futile, you have only briefly delayed the inevitable!" He challenged, revving his turbines before racing forward. Healing drinks or not, the man would be sent back down to the ground as quickly as he rose from it.

And this time he would not be rising again.

And so the sinner persisted; the man thinking he could make a difference. "So be it," Judge Fear hissed. The fiend relinquished his icy hold over the sinner's mind and retreated, the Dark Judge simultaneously reaching for a mantrap snug against his hip. So, the sinner thought to use some kind of healing tonic, was it? As with K.A.R.R.'s accurate words, the Dark Judge found little reason to echo the vehicle's sentiments. "Do not waste your time," the fiend remarked. "Let this fool think himself above Death's law. He will see our reasoning soon enough." A mantrap was now fully brandished, Judge Fear swinging his weapon menacingly. Patience... Its teeth shall yet again taste the flesh of the wicked in due time.

"Did you not hear, sinner?" the fiend seemed to mock, purposely goading his prey into making a false move. All the Dark Judge really needed was one. "You cannot kill what does not live, but you are more than welcome to try." With K.A.R.R. already on the eager offensive, the Dark Judge quickly followed suit and lashed out. His mantrap snaked through the air, its chain nosily rattling, as its ravenous maw sought for the sinner's precious life.

Thrice did he coil it up high and thrice did he throw it with such vigour. "The crime is life and the sentence is death! You are to be judged for your immoral ways, sinner! K.A.R.R., show this mortal no mercy. Let his cries feed your soul; let his blood paint your body. Dine upon him and end his suffering."

    Gorge yourself and be just!

At the vehicle's statement, the man paused for a moment in surprise. It could talk? Then again, the ghoul it was currently sidling up to had managed to literally get inside his head with frigid mental talons. Any curiosity the man had of the duo was brief, for there was no interest in learning about the ways of murderers. Cocking the gun once more, he took aim at the car as it rushed headlong towards him again, his feet apart and ready to spring away once it got close. Again e fired a volley straight at the vehicle, aiming at both the tires and hood.

Something had to give with this thing, a weakness in its paneling, anything. He dove away as it passed, grazing his leg as he rolled over the dusty earth. "Talk all you want, you're nothing but a bag full of shit with an equally shit ride!" He retorted, spit flying from his grit teeth. He still had his gun and a clip with live rounds inside, that was all he needed.

He watched warily as the trap was flung, dodging this way and that to avoid its sharp teeth. Though much to his horror he found that its hungry maw matched him move for move, weaving through the air before biting into his flesh, tearing out bloodied chunks. "AAAGH!" He screamed, clutching his side as its teeth sought him thrice, backing away towards the barn.

So, they wanted a real fight then, eh? Quickly the man hobbled into the shady expanse that was the barn, falling among the machinery. Shifting about, he reached a lanky arm under a large tractor's underbelly, pulling forth a few choice weapons. Small and circular, a pin chimed against its green surface, while a small handle-like device curved down the edge of it.

    Grenades.

"And here Ma thought me nuts for keeping these things around." He smirked, clenching one in his hand and pulling the pin. Leaning out he tossed it towards the duo before shoving himself further under the tractor. They would have to get past the monstrous piece of equipment before they could ever deal with him.
