    Treasures and Treats

This was it! After a full year, it was finally time for Halloween again!

The strange holiday full of costumes, tricks, and candy was still a rather interesting one to the Hero of Time, but it was definitely one that he had grown to enjoy quite a lot. The first one he had experienced had been great, last year's had been amazing, and he was sure that this Halloween was bound to be the best one yet. That stood regardless of the fact that they were each getting more and more experienced with it... this year, Tetra had joined their ranks, and they had all been able to plan out their costumes even better!

As Halloween drew closer and closer, Link and Link had taken to planning a pair of their own costumes, deciding to surprise both Tetra and Zelda with them, and the two girls in turn decided to do just the same. Impa appeared to have come up with her own idea for a costume, so with three different secrets being kept between the two heroes, the two disguised princesses, and the Sage of Shadow, they were all set to be in store for some extra neat surprises tonight.

What had Link and Link decided on? As per the suggestion of the Hero of Winds, the two boys were going to dress up as two particular members of a certain pirate crew… namely one Gonzo and Senza from Tetra's ship. The younger Link had been very intrigued by the idea and all too ready to jump on board so to speak, and thus the great planning had begun. The outfits themselves proved to be rather simple compared to their costumes from last year… they just had to find the right styles and colors of shirts, trousers, belts, and shoes. Thad had all been completed with relative ease, but then came the added details to really make the costumes special.

For the older Link, he had a nice red bandana on his head and a fake tattoo across his chest drawn on by the younger Link himself. Once they had been proud of their handiwork, the Hero of Time took to adding his final details… namely a dark blue wig with a beard attached to it, and a tuft of fake hair of the same color for his chest… only once they had everything just in place did they grab their bags for candy (both styled suitably like oversized Spoils Bags), the two boys and their fairies made their way down to the lobby to wait for their friends.

"You know, that's actually a pretty good look for you two… not quite ruffian, but definitely scallawag." Tatl noted as they descended the final set of steps.

"Ha-ha, thanks Tatl…" Link chuckled and nodded to her, knowing full well that despite her initial skepticism of some of their costume details, that that was a compliment from her, and that she was even more on board with these than she was their outfits for last year. Glancing to his older nametwin, Link added, "You really do look just like the sketch, Link. This was a great idea! I just hope Tetra likes the surprise."

It didn't feel like a year. No, rather it just felt like a matter of months since their last Halloween. Surely it wasn't that long ago that they ventured out into the night, costumed and returning with bags full of candy which tasted even better than if they bought it themselves. Ah, how much of the candy had he ate that night? Er... well almost all of it. Something like 97% in the span of the few hours between their return and bedtime. By the end of it, sure it had an uncomfortable stomach but it. was. so. worth. it!...That being said, he wasn't going to repeat the experience this time round. Once in a lifetime was enough.

He never celebrated Halloween until he came to this world and even then it was a year after his arrival that he tried it for the first time. The first time he heard about it, he was instantly interested. The thought of dressing up and running around to get candy - who wouldn't like it? And unlike previous years, their Halloween season was thankfully event free which made this year's Halloween even better!

Then there was a new addition to their group in the form of Tetra and to make it even more exciting, they had managed to split off into completing their costumes separately from the two princesses and Impa too. It was thrilling, sneaking around one another and trying to keep everything regarding their costumes a secret with the only exception of Impa who, as always, was perceptive and knew what each of them were working on.... and then later Neri wriggled her way into knowing the Tetra and Zelda's costumes because the Spirit of Wisdom was difficult to keep away from Zelda for long much less TWO of them now.

The Links' choice in costumes this year were not as complicated as the year before but it did not make assembling them any less fun nor did it diminished its value. It took a few trips out shopping to find the right style and colours of for each piece of their costume and trying to sneak it all up to their rooms were feats of suppressed grins, chuckles and the worst attempts of keeping a straight face ever but it was great fun throughout.

Now, the time had came and the Links were the first to arrive down at the lobby equipped with their spoil bags. Link adjusted his bandana for the umpteenth time, earning a glowroll from Ciela who had given up telling him he looked fine.

Leaf was, as per usual, in an excited red buzz in the air. If there was ever a fairy who liked surprises, it was Leaf even though he was the one who was the slowest to catch on sometimes.

Link joined in the chuckling at Tatl's note. "Does that mean we're better than last year?" he couldn't help writing.

The third fairy, Neri hummed returned excitedly, flying down the stairs with a cheery chime of "We're here!"

Link turned to the stairs, fixed his bandana one last time and finally answered the younger hero's question. "I'm sure she would."

Though truth was, he was a little nervous. He wouldn't want this to be a sad reminder of the crew Tetra had to leave behind to get here.

    Re: Treasures and Treats

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Mon Nov 18, 2013 7:52 pm

Zelda had most definitely enjoyed the two Halloweens past that she had got to experience since her arrival on the Breach. Regardless of her guise as Sheik, she had occasionally enjoyed dressing up in costume back in Hyrule for different events and just for fun when she was growing up… but this festive occasion was still so fun and unique to her. There were of course a few downsides to having been pulled to the Breach, but in her case, there were many more positives to it, and being able to enjoy this holiday was just one of them.

Better yet, she was able to enjoy it with her friends… especially her family.

The disguised princess' own arrival on the Breach had come very close to the holiday, so she had wound up with a more general costume just like Link and Link. It had been a lot of fun and she had loved it, but admittedly, she was even more fond of last year's costumes. The ones from Hyrule's past coupled with a stunning yet smaller version of Prixlezub had been especially neat, and although she only knew what two of their five costumes were going to be this year, she was already even more excited about this coming night.

Part of that excitement stemmed from the fact that Tetra was now here and she was going to be able to join them for the night of fun… and if the pirate captain's reactions were any indication, she was just as excited about this night as the rest of them were. Zelda had become fast, close friends with Tetra shortly after the older girl's arrival, and that had been punctuated even further once she had learned her secret. Not only was Zelda her ancestor, but the two girls shared the same spirit the same way that Link and Link did… and that only made their bond all the more special.

The other aspect of the added excitement came from the way that the two heroes and two disguised princesses had decided to break up into two pairs in order to plot and coordinate their Halloween costumes for the year. Regardless of her own keen perception, Zelda had no idea as to what Link and Link were dressing up as… all she knew was that it was likely to be very good and that she was looking especially forward to it. As for Tetra and herself, whilst they had drawn some inspiration from the costumes of last Halloween, this year, the two girls had decided to take things in a different direction… instead going for the future of Hyrule.

Namely, they were focused on the Great Sea, and a certain duo from Dragon Roost Island.

Given the idea of surprising the older Link and Tetra's fascination with the magic that Zelda used to change her eye color, the pirate captain had got the brilliant idea for the two of them to dress up as Rito. And not just any Rito… with finely crafted outfits, fake yellow noses built from craft foam, styled and colored hair, magically red eyes, and a couple of key props, the two girls were now dressed up in very convincing likenesses of Medli and Komali.

As Zelda was the taller of the two (and the one who was presently disguised as a boy), Tetra had gone about getting her set as Komali whilst she had borrowed her ancestor's lyre and prepared a nigh perfect costume of Medli. The disguised princess had been thrilled with the idea from the get-go, and now that they were all set, she was even more excited about it.

"You look amazing, Tetra!" Sheik exclaimed as the two began to make their way downstairs to meet their friends. Even as her tuft of hair fell somewhat over her left eye as it often did, she added, "I really think that Link is going to like these costumes."

With her modified Din' Pearl prop in tow, the disguised princess continued on down the stairs, her red eyes soon widening just before her grin did as she spotted a young pair of pirates in the lobby. If she didn't know any better, then Link and Link had sought to surprise Tetra in much the same way that they had got set to for the Hero of Winds…

"Ahoy there!" Sheik waved to the two boys, soon glancing between them as Tetra she hoped to catch her descendant's reaction to seeing just how Link and Link were dressed. With these smaller versions of Gonzo and Senza here, it was definitely set to be a great night, and they had not even left the inn yet! "You guys look great!"

    Re: Treasures and Treats

Post by Tetra on Fri Dec 06, 2013 7:00 pm

When Tetra first learnt of this festive holiday called Halloween, she had raised an eyebrow sceptically before immediately twisting her head round to Zelda and Impa who make sure she was really hearing it right and it wasn't a prank. You get to dress up, knock on doors and get free treats. Yes, you may get something like that back in the Great Sea too but that tend to apply only to children you know are good, right? Not just any child you open the door to.

Then came the pumpkin carving, pumpkin soup, pumpkin pies, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin everything that made Tetra quietly wish that Link had less of a sweet tooth and for a holiday that had more meat in it. There was the one at the end of the year called Christmas that had turkey though...

Pumpkins aside though, the excitement was infective and she found her own escalating even more when she started imagining costumes to dress up in. At first she had considered something simple, a miniblin looked rather simple and suited this festive holiday's theme but then it seem a bit TOO simple. With this new world's much vaster range of materials at their fingertips, it almost seemed like anything was possible especially when Sheik, Link, Link and Impa showed her their past costumes. Nope, the miniblins just weren't cutting it. No, they need something with a bit more fanciness....It was during one of these thought processes that she suddenly caught Zelda's eye returning to their blue colour one evening and the idea hit her with the weight of an Armos.

    RITOS!

Ever since she had learnt that the other princess could turn her eye reds, the pirate captain had been eager to find reason to learn the same magic skill but had yet to find an actual use and reason to do so. Halloween was going to give her the perfect chance to learn! That and it would be something special for the Link from his world too. NOT that she need to do anything special for him but after learning how long he was here and she was the only other one from the Great Sea... yeah...

Without further ado, the princesses' sneaky costume planning and assembly began, the excitement growing even more when they found out that not only were the boys having their own surprise for them but IMPA was too and many an eyebrow waggle could not convince the sage to disclose her plans.

"You look amazing yourself!" Tetra replied with a giant grin which cannot help but extend a bit more as she glanced up at the tuft of hair that looked rather reluctant to stay away from the girl's eye. It would seems that persistent hair traits ran in the family. She lowered one eye into a wink. "You know it."

She said that but there was this tiny, tiny bit inside that wonder if this might also be a sad reminder that their world was gone and they cannot go back. Tetra shook the thoughts from her head. No, he would be more delighted at the costumes than he would be anything else.

As they approached the bottom of the stairs, the doubly disguised princess of the Great Sea reached round to sling the lyre onto her back much like Medli did and with a deep breath, descended the last step....only to freeze.

    Oh.

    Goddesses...

    Were they dressed as...

Quietly, she followed Zelda across the lobby, stunned but recovering with each step she took. By the time she was across from the two Links, she had stopped staring and took to eyeing them up and down in amusement. "Gonzo, Senza, I kind of remembered you being a bit taller..."

    Re: Treasures and Treats

Post by Impa on Sat Dec 21, 2013 8:33 pm

It had indeed been quite the time for each of the Hyruleans to get prepared for Halloween, and Impa could not help but beam with pride whenever she saw how much fun her four charges were having. To see them all set and complimenting each other now, from her vantage point just out of view behind them… it only made her warm smile broaden from.

With the final touches to her own costume made, she had previously set downstairs, and in short order had made her way down to the final flight of stairs. As she knew that her charges were just ahead of her, she made certain to move silently, keeping herself undetected until the moment was just right. From her position higher up in the stairwell, the Sheikah soon grinned broadly at seeing the final versions of the kids' costumes. With Link and Link dressed up as two of the strong members of Tetra's crew and the captain and Zelda herself having donned their smart Rito costumes, the four of them certainly looked ready for a fun holiday. She had followed the progress of their costumes from the initial ideas of them, all the while making sure to keep the two pairs of costumes secret from the other duo, and to see just how far they had come… not only was she thrilled to see the fun they had each had in the planning, she was also happy to see just how great they all looked.

From helping the four of them with certain aspects of their costumes to helping everyone coordinate things, the Sage of Shadow had to admit… she did already rather like this holiday, and tonight, she was looking more forward to it than ever.

They had all outdone themselves this year, and Impa hoped that her own costume would be met with the same positive reception.

Once the two boys got themselves set and assured each other that their friends would like the surprise, the pair of doubly disguised princesses made their own way into the lobby, just in time for the two duo surprises to be met. Admittedly, Impa was not certain as to who was more surprised here, Tetra or the older Link, but aside from a moment of being stunned, they both seemed to love the attire that their friends had donned. And only after they had each had a chance to react to each other did Impa appear, just behind the two boys.

"They might have been, but these two still seem pretty brave for being so short."

Here, Link might find his vision partially obstructed by a familiar object… a green rupee was being held right in his line of sight. Impa could not help but chuckle softly as the lad turned around, and only once he caught sight of her did she smile and nod to him. However, she was not dressed in her usual armor.

Tonight, Impa had traded her shorts for a grayish blue pair of trousers held up by a brown leather belt with a gold buckle, and her trademark boots had been similarly replaced with a pair of brown leather ones not entirely unlike those that the two young heroes wore. She had also traded her armor for a white shirt, a light blue vest, and a somewhat long blue jacket with white trim. The cuffs caught right at her wrists, that detail shown even more as she moved the green rupee and placed her right fist on her hip. Smiling a bit more as she tilted her head back, now better showing off the closely wrapped red scarf she wore around her neck, one could also better tell that despite the stray tuft at the back of her head, she was in fact wearing her hair down tonight. Much like the two princesses though, she had used her magic to change it to a medium brown… accented with the fake moustache and goatee of matching shades that she had donned. The magic that she had taught Zelda to change her eye color was also in reverse effect tonight, as she had changed her striking red eyes to a soft blue shade… all of it coming together to paint the picture of a certain sailor.

With a smile and nod to her four charges and the fairies, Impa glanced to the Hero of Winds, stating, "Happy Halloween, Link."

This night, Impa was also a seafarer… in particular, she was a captain whose own ship shared his name… the one and only Linebeck.

"Hm… I'd say so," stated Tatl, bobbing her glow to the older Link at his written question. Raising her left wing in amusement, she added, "You all looked great last year, but I think you've outdone yourselves this time." These costumes did look pretty darn good if she said so herself, and honestly, it was going to be tough to top these next year.

Link grinned at Tatl's high praise before chuckling a little at Neri's sudden exclamation once they had all made their way to the lobby. Yes… they were here. And even though they were the first of their family to arrive in the lobby, the Hero of Time could hardly wait to see everyone else. At his older nametwin's written reassurance, Link nodded to him, feeling even more confident than he already did about their costumes. There was still a small chance that their attire would prove to spark an unfortunate reminder about what had happened to the Great Sea in their points in time, but right alongside it, there was a chance that she would love their costumes and be happy to see them.

Soon enough, a familiar voice caused Link to perk up slightly. Zelda…--ah, Sheik! She was here! Which also meant that Tetra was! Quickly glancing to the stairs himself, Link's smile soon grew into a broad grin as he saw his two friends appear, and especially once he realized just what they were wearing. The younger boy had never met any of the Rito of course, but he had heard countless tales about the from both Link and Tetra. Pictographs, sketches, and some information in Impa's newer books helped to fill those gaps, so even though he himself did not know Medli or Komali personally, he still recognized just who Tetra and Sheik were within moments.

Laughing happily at Sheik's greeting to them, Link nodded strongly to her compliment, noting, "Thanks! So do you!" Honestly, was still a little stunned at just how amazing the two girls looked, but at the moment, he was still less stunned than both Tetra and the older Link were.

Glancing to the Hero of Winds to try and gauge his reaction, the Hero of Time slowly looked back to Tetra as she began to approach the two of them. After a quick flick to catch Sheik's gaze, Link turned back to Tetra, noting just how she was looking Link and himself up and down, but thankfully catching the amusement that was slowly taking over her surprise. At her statement, Link couldn't help but laugh, but no sooner could he get out an "Aye aye, Captain!" than did he catch Impa's voice just behind them.

"Wait, WHAT?!" Tatl exclaimed at catching just what Impa had said. Yeah, Link and Link were short, but for it to be phrased like that… well, she agreed with it. They WERE pretty brave regardless of their stature, but why would Impa say it that way?

As Tatl whipped around to see Impa standing behind the two boys, Link chuckled a bit before he too turned around, only to stop short and gape in surprise. Wow… Impa looked awesome! And she was… no way… no… way…

This was yet another costume of one from the future of Hyrule that he had not met, but someone that he still felt he knew at least indirectly given his shared spirit with the Hero of Winds and the same sources that helped him recognize the disguised princesses' outfits. If his memory was serving him right, and if Link and the fairies' reactions were anything to go off of, then Impa was dressed up as none other than Captain Linebeck, his friend's companion from his adventure in the World of the Ocean King!

The costume was just as incredible as Link had come to expect of Impa, especially since her skills with disguise were so honed… that coupled with the magic that she had used to change the color of her hair and eyes had him outright stunned, although he soon could not help but grin broadly. The blue eyes definitely caught him by surprise, but really, just as how Zelda's red ones suited her, this shade of blue looked good on Impa. It wasn't as striking as her trademark, natural red, but in a way… they suited her.

Glancing from the older boy and back to Impa, Link soon managed to say, "Hey Impa… Happy Halloween! I love your costume!"

Like Ciela, Tatl was known for being straightforward and not holding back on her words (within reason) so to hear her compliment not only this year's costumes and also last year's was truly something that made Link swell with pride. If even Tatl said so then what could they do but agree?

There were the voices of two of his best friends then his ears picked up the sound of them descending the stairs. In unison, Link and his three fairies turned their head and glows towards the stairwell with Neri not even trying to hide her excited giggles anymore. Link stood a little taller, squaring his shoulders and puffing up his chest a little to appear a bit more big and tall - like Gonzo - only to completely drop the stance as the two disguised princesses came into view. Were they.... they... didn't... no, they were!

"Beaks! Wait, I feel like I should recognise you..." Leaf chimed, a little slow on the uptake and it was exactly this quality of his that Ciela responded to so well, so it was to no surprise that she broke out of her own stunned silence to speak up.

"They're Ritos," groaned the yellow fairy, rolling her glow. As if that was the key word to snap Link out of his own stunned state, the boy jolted and let out a loud 'Aa!' in recognition.

    ... ...

Then returned to stunned silence - that worked as well. As the girls made their way across the lobby to stand in front of him, all he could do was stare with his mouth wide open. After a while, he lifted his hand slowly, reached out and poked Zelda in the shoulder as if to check that he was really seeing what he was seeing. But it's...wasn't it suppose to be them who would be surprising them? What? How? But... MEDLI! KOMALI!

"Aa!" he cried out again as he finally got his wits about him again, this time it was the Komali-dressed Zelda's words snapping him out of it. "Haa.." he breathed, waving a hand at the girls costumes to gesture the same goes to them as well. It was rather uncanny how much they looked the part!

The innkeeper laughed at Tetra's comment then puffed his chest and leant over a little. "Oi Oi Oi!" he sounded, doing his best Gonzo voice and expression he had practiced so long in front of a mirror for. He may be a little short but real Gonzo or fake Gonzo, he was going to act like Gonzo and be as brave a Gonzo - just like Impa said!

    Wait, Impa?

"That sounds oddly familiar..." commented Ciela as shem the fairies and Link turned around with the boy blinking in confusing as all he could see for a moment was a green rupee. Where did that come from? Oh, how he missed rupees. Credits were nice and all but the shiny colourful rupees were still the best currency in his mi...nd...

For the third time that night, Link was struck speechless. His eyes made their way from head to toe of Impa's costume the back up again, completely gobsmacked. "L....LINEBECK?!"

Leaf promptly forgot how to fly, even Ciela's wingbeats slowed down and Neri did a doubletake. Out of the three spirits, the Spirit of Courage and Time was the first to recover. She cleared her throat, a little loss for words but feeling like she must say something Ciela-y....especially in the presence of somebody who she used to bicker with so much. "Well... since it's you, Impa. I guess I'll let you call me Sparkles just for tonight."

On the other hand, the Hero of Winds stared.... and stared... then turned his head to look at Zelda, Link and Tetra. First pirates then Ritos and now Linebeck. Whilst he knew they were all plotting their costumes in secret, the night was turning out to be even more surprising than he thought it would be. Never in all of his dreams would he had imagined something like this. He felt... felt...

    Touched...

    And rather spoilt actually.

Turning back to the tall Sheikah, Link's face broke into a giant grin before he stepped forward and hugged her tightly around the waist. Happy Halloween and....thank you.

Sheik returned Tetra's grin with one of her own at the older girl's compliment, right before she chuckled slightly at her wink and assurance that Link would like their costumes. "Yeah… I'm sure he will." Both of the girls were confident that the Hero of Winds would love the outfits they had got together for Halloween, but much like her descendant, Sheik did have a slight bit of concern that two of them would even temporarily serve as a sad reminder that the Great Sea was gone. She quickly pushed that to the back of her mind though as the two of them descended the stairs, only to see that the two boys had had a similar thought process for Tetra.

Sure enough, the pirate captain froze as soon as they hit the landing, but her initial surprise seemed to shift more and more towards delight as the two of them neared Link and Link. Whilst the Hero of Time was surprised and happy to see their own costumes, the older boy was downright stunned. Right after her greeting to them, he had had stopped short until Ciela's remark snapped him out of it momentarily. A single exclamation, another few seconds of starting, a poke to her shoulder, and her compliment were all it took to pull him back once more. Sheik outright grinned at his and Link's compliments of their own costumes, right before she wound up laughing at Tetra's humorous statement.

That laugh only grew as Link responded in true Gonzo fashion. Sheik might never have met Gonzo, but she had heard enough stories of him from both Tetra and the older boy so that she instantly recognized that call of his. Nodding as the younger Link saluted Tetra, Sheik said, "I think they've got it just right!"

And with the perfect timing that she was incredibly used to from her guardian, Impa soon appeared just behind Link and Link to add her own assessment… one that was fully in character with the person she was dressed up as. As the four fairies and two boys turned around to see the Sheikah and her costume, one that had been the best kept secret of the five, Sheik's red eyes slowly widened, right before her broad grin returned in full.

"You look amazing, Impa!" Sheik exclaimed, echoing Link's own positive words as she reached out to catch the dropping Leaf from where he had forgot to flap his wings. She had no idea her guardian was set to pull off something like this, but even with the differing personalities between Linebeck and the Sheikah, somehow… this just suited her. It was even to the point where she wondered if Linebeck might have thought she looked as good in his outfit as he did! "That's a perfect costume!"

As the fairies began to recover, Sheik smiled warmly at Ciela's own noted exception for nicknames. Origin aside, it rather suited her… especially if it were to be used as a term of affection. Around this, Link managed to break from his staring before looking at each of them and moving to catch Impa in a tight hug. Sheik exchanged a wink with Tetra, having a feeling that she was thinking just what she was… this was set to be the best Halloween yet.

    Re: Treasures and Treats

Post by Tetra on Tue Jan 14, 2014 7:16 am

If there was one thing Tetra had learnt about Leaf, it was that he never failed to amuse her. The World of the Ocean King may not have any Ritos but surely after so many tales and descriptions both herself and Link had provided, the Spirit of Power must recognise them from the get go already. Apparently not but thankfully, Ciela was there to help her fellow fairy out.

Link’s stunned silence was expected and Tetra was one thought away from reaching out and gentle knocking him on the head with her knuckles when he instead reached out to poke Zelda, triggering a chuckle from herself. The chuckle turned into a laugh as the boy responded to her comment regarding their height with a very Gonzo-like response that both made her want to pat him on the back to applaud him as also twinged a heart string or two. Her pirates were… gone physically (for now, who knew what the future held) but they were still in her memories and they were still sailing the seas, looting bomb shops and taking down giant birds somewhere in another time and place. For the time being, she had Link here and a new set of best friends in the form of the younger Link  Zelda and...

Tetra blinked at Impa’s words and her mouth immediately answered, almost as if on reflex, with the smug reply, “Of course, my pirates are always brave!”

Tetra had long since got used to the fact the Impa could move undetected, even better than Zelda and herself combined, so when the Sheikah suddenly made presence be known behind the older Link, the pirate was unsurprised. For somebody who prized her perceptive skills above all others, the way Sheik and Impa could move and lurk so well in the shadows drove her up the wall when she started living here. After a while though, Portal Breach’s second Zelda slowly got used to it and now their stealthiness does not even make her bat an eyelash.

Sometimes though, if she was curious or bored enough, she might attempt to trace back through her memory or the current environment in front of her for hints or clues to find out how long the Sage of Shadows and her closest charge had been lurking unnoticed by all of them. On this occasion, all thoughts of finding out how long Impa had been there were very smoothly swept from the captain's mind. Her currently-red eyes focused immediately on the rupee then a second later, moved onto Imp--GREAT SEA!

Tetra echoed the fairies' cry of the treasure loving seaman's name. She stared at the (very dashingly dressed) Sheikah from head to toe, back up again then down once more for good measure. As the fairies recovered one by one alongside Link, Tetra grinned and was about to cross her arms in front but stopped when the innkeeper stepped forward to hug Impa around the waist. Turning to raise an eyebrow to the other Link and Zelda, the Rito girl for the evening also stepped forward and silently hugged her Link from behind, her arms covering his as she too reached around to hug the Sheikah.

“It’s good to see another familiar face,” she murmured.

Impa'a heart warmed at seeing the exchanging between the two young heroes and two disguised princesses, and right after she made herself known, the proud smile she wore only broadened at catching the surprised remarks from Tatl and Ciela. She did laugh a bit at Tetra's instant reply, just before stating, "I'd say they have to be if they work for you." She was glad to catch that sentiment from the pirate captain, especially considering the surprise that followed next. It might have taken those from the future of Hyrule a moment longer to fully register just what they were seeing here, but no sooner had the Three Spirits and Tetra exclaimed the name of the seafaring man she was dressed up as than had the Sheikah simply nodded once to them, showing that yes… tonight, she was Captain Linebeck.

Grinning a little at the younger Link and Sheik's compliments, Impa added, "Thank you both… I must say though, the four of you look fantastic." The Sage of Shadow might have been the only one who had been in the know of all four of the kids' costumes, but even so, it was wonderful to see all four of them completed and set tonight. From the pair of pirates to the Rito duo, her charges had truly outdone themselves, and she had a very strong feeling that this Halloween that was fit for the Great Sea was going to be their best one yet.

Although Tetra and especially Link still seemed to be caught staring at her, it seemed that the fairies were slowly starting to break out from their own surprise, particularly the one that had her own sort of bond with Linebeck. Chuckling softly at Ciela's statement, Impa smiled to the Spirit of Courage, noting, "Only if you'd like for me to… Sparkles."

At that, Impa caught the future Link's giant grin, just before she found herself in a sweet, tight hug from the lad. The Sheikah placed her Rupee-free hand on the boy's shoulder as she smiled down to him, and a moment later, it seemed that the Hero of Winds was caught in a sandwich of a hug between Tetra and herself. Her own smile broadening further, Impa moved to hug back both of her charges here, inwardly feeling immensely glad that not only did the two of them like all of the surprise costumes here, but that they had already been able to share such a special moment on this night.

The collective surprises seemed to be quite the boost for each of them here, and at Tetra's own happy mumble, Impa tightened her hug around the two kids a fraction, stating, "I'm just glad it was a nice surprise for you both… and I thought it would rather add to this Halloween for all of us."

Impa might not have ever met Linebeck, but based on the stories and tales about him, he certainly seemed to be quite the character… and here, she was just happy to have brightened the spirits of a certain young hero and disguised princess whilst surprising their counterparts from her own point in time. Happy Halloween indeed.

Link couldn't help but chuckle at the quick exchange between Leaf and Ciela as the two disguised princesses appeared, and no sooner had he voiced his own happy approval of their costumes than was he smiling quite a bit at his older nametwin's lingering stunned reaction. As the Hero of Winds poked Sheik in the shoulder as though to confirm that he really was seeing this, the younger boy soon laughed again at the following surprised exclamation.

Nodding to further echo his older nametwin's gesture of just how great Tetra and Sheik looked, Link soon found his salute to the pirate captain backed up by a very convincing Gonzo impression, courtesy of none other than the older Link. Finding himself feeling even more special at Sheik's second compliment on their likenesses, Link soon turned around at catching Impa's own words of praise.

His surprise was not quite the outright stunned reaction that Link, Tetra, Ciela, Leaf, and Neri had, but he was still pretty shocked to see both Impa's costume choice this year and just how much she looked the part. As for Tatl, if this getup did not match up with what she had heard from her friends from the future, then she wasn't sure what did. For the love of the Four Giants, Impa looked just like those sketches she had seen! She didn't have the pinkish nose, though… and instead of the dark circles underneath the eyes she still had her own natural white eye-markings, but save that, the resemblance was pretty uncanny.

"Huh… that's a good look for you," mused Tatl. A part of her couldn't help but think that the outfit might look just a BIT better on the Sheikah than the one who tended to wear it, but regardless, it did suit her quite nicely. "I don't think any of us could have predicted it."

And that certainly seemed to be the case for those from the future, especially Link. Tatl puffed her glow a bit in amusement at Ciela's words about being referred to as Sparkles just for tonight, inwardly wondering if that nickname might make a reappearance in certain situations from this point on… either way, it was good to have that little detail from the World of the Ocean King brought back.

    "I know I didn't... heh-heh," added the younger boy.

Link couldn't help but smile further at Ciela's words, and that smile only turned into a thrilled grin once his older nametwin moved to hug the Sheikah, followed very shortly by Tetra. As for the Hero of Time, he shared a happy look with Sheik before the two of them exchanged a knowing nod. No, neither of them had known of the other's costumes, but already, it looked that their general ideas to make Halloween extra special for both Tetra and the older Link were working perfectly. It was bound to be a great night now!

"Hmph," harrumphed Ciela in mock snootiness. The nickname did warm her though and she would never say this aloud but she did rather miss Linebeck even if he was a bit cowardly, lazy and rupee-hungry. "I’ll only allow it tonight. Don't make me rethink that offer! Leaf, you're not to copy her!"

"What? I wasn't planning to!" Leaf replied so quick and in a tone that implied he was maaaaaaybe thinking otherwise until he'd been banned from it. Then, as if realising how defensive he sounded and trying to divert attention away from it, he rolled around in Sheik's hand and took off to join the Linebeck hug by landing on Impa's shoulder and lowering his wings as if to latch on.

Link's arms around Impa loosened a little in surprise of suddenly being caught between the Sheikah and... Tetra? The Hero of Winds blinked, grinned then closed his eyes and tightened his hold on Linebeck-Impa again.

Tetra's joining immediately prompted Neri to join. It never cease to amazed the spirit exactly how wonderful this family was and with each passing day, their bond could only grow stronger. With a soft mew, she landed on the Sheikah's other shoulder. "Thank you... All three of you. We’ll dress up as something or somebody from your world next year."

After a while, Link started wriggling uncomfortably between Tetra and Impa, suddenly acutely aware of how warm he was starting to feel especially around the face. What did he expect from being caught in a sandwich hug? “Aa...” he sounded. The costumed boy broke his hug from Impa and batted lightly at Tetra’s arms around him to coax her to let go too.

“Okay, now that that is over, I suppose it’s finally time to head out and start enough candy to give Link a stomach ache again.”

“Aa-aah,” complained the innkeeper. That was LAST year. He wasn’t going to do that again! Once was enough and he regret nothing! Instead, he changed the subject. “Do we need a lantern? I left last year’s one upstairs.” His eyes landed on the large pearl in Sheik’s hands. Komali’s Din’s Pearl, whilst doesn’t shine bright like a beacon unless in the hands of the Goddess Statues, had a glow that could just about luminate a dark path if required. Link turned his digiglass back around and added another line. “Or does your pearl work as a lantern, Sheik?”

Whether it worked by magic, batteries or candle, Link’s eyebrows were raised and the curiosity of not only himself but all three fairies (maybe less so, Neri) were piqued.

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Mon Jan 20, 2014 9:33 pm

The only thing that made Sheik smile more than her guardian's compliments on their costumes was the sweet exchange between Impa and Ciela. Somehow, that nickname sounded rather perfect coming from the Sheikah herself… and although the Spirit of Courage was trying her best to put on an air of mock-huffiness, the disguised princess could tell that she was glad to both see the resemblance to Linebeck that Impa had gained as she donned her costume as much as she was to hear the name Sparkles once more. She might have only allowed the nickname tonight… but somehow, Sheik couldn't help but wonder if she might also allow it if absolutely no one else was around Ciela save Impa…

Time would tell, though. Far sooner than that, Sheik couldn't help but chuckle as Leaf rolled about in her hand, right about the same time that Tetra was able to fully respond to having seen the sailor's likeness again.

Sure enough, not only was Tetra surprised by Impa's costume, she was also thrilled by Link's latest surprise reaction. At catching the raised eyebrow from her descendant, Sheik simply winked to her before watching her step forward to catch Link in the other half of a sandwich hug with Impa. This display alone made her smile broaden, just before she glanced to the younger Link to share a happy look and wise nod with him. There had been three rounds of surprise costumes, but to be able to see just how happy that their best friends from the future were… that made it all the more special for them tonight.

Laughing softly at Neri's words, Sheik stated, "You're welcome, but you don't have do that. No matter what we dress up as next year, the thought is definitely appreciated. Until then… I have a feeling that tonight is going to be especially fun."

That laugh soon turned into an amused grin as not only did Impa and Link break the hug, but that the older boy was now trying to gently get Tetra to let him go. It was certainly a sweet sight, and although she didn't dare openly chuckle at it, she DID laugh a little more at Ciela's next statement. After the Hero of Winds had gorged himself on candy last year, he had sworn that he would be much more mindful to make it last this time around.

Soon enough though, he had changed the subject with his question regarding lighting for their outing this evening. Sheik had wanted to wait until they had all got to see each others' costumes to show off her prop, but now she had the perfect chance to. Holding up the perfectly sized replica, the doubly disguised princess noted, "Well, I could make it work by magic if I wanted to… but I actually made it so that Leaf could sit inside and make it glow himself if he wanted to. See?"

At that, Sheik carefully popped open the lid that was hidden in the back of the Din's Pearl replica, turning it around so that a hole sized just a but more than the radius of the sphere was present… one that was perfect to let at least one fairy slip inside, be he the Spirit of Power or not.

Tetra grinned into Link's shoulder as Impa moved to hug both herself and Link back. It was hard to believe she had only been here for a few months. Had anybody mentioned to her back at the Great Sea that she would find another family outside of her pirate crew in the future, the captain would had raised and eyebrow, scoff then she and her men would break into roaring laughter. But here she was, in a new world with people that sailing through her trust levels like they were nothing. She might not yet be able to fully consider them family but they were certainly best and trusted friends.

When Neri remarked about their next year's costumes, Tetra grinned and lifted pulled her head up. "Sounds like a plan. Dressing up as a Gerudo might be quite fun." Be they the women from the desert or from the Great Bay, Tetra had a feeling the Gerudo and herself would get along mighty fine if they ever met. In fact, the world might have to watch out if they ever teamed up.

The pirate grinned even more as Link squirmed uncomfortably from being part of a sandwich hug. Very soon, he pulled away from Impa and was set of removing her from his back. With a chuckle, she moved away until she was standing beside her ancestor once more. The chuckle turned into an eyebrow raise. "A stomach ache? Really? How much did he exactly eat?"

Because this future princess was planning something along the lines of consuming large quantities of candy tonight too. Not too much though as though like the others, she had a sweet tooth, Tetra overall prefer savoury food items over sweet. If there was a choice between a cupcake or a pretzel, she would go for the pretzel.... then pinch the cupcake for later eating.

"A lantern? How far are we going to go?" asked Tetra with a frown. She may not be as well explored at they were but she had been to most of the city and some of the areas just outside of it but weren't most places lit by street lamps in this world? Unless they were thinking of venturing outside of the city.... were they? An adventure in the dark, that would be an interesting turn of events if it did happen.

As the attention turned to Sheik's pearl, Tetra thought back to the day the Princess of Hyrule decided that to add it to her costume. Whilst the version of Komali's outfit Zelda had made wasn't the one he wore when he was attached to the Din's Pearl, the treasure was still solidly linked to the Rito boy as much as as the Master Sword was to Link. To hear the Sheik wanted to include it with the costume had brought about a wave of nostalgia for the pirate captain and she was only too happy to help in the making of the prop.

Post by Impa on Mon Feb 03, 2014 1:13 pm

Impa smiled at Tatl's compliments band Link's own happy voice before tilting her head to the side at catching Ciela's mock snootiness. Her expression shifted to a sly grin that was trademark Linebeck before she stated, "All right then… I wouldn't dream of making you rethink anything, Sparkles." Now this amusing banter was certainly going to make the night even more interesting than it was already set to be.

Shortly after Leaf joined in on the hug, Impa's grin softened as Link tightened his hug around her, and with a nod to Neri as she landed atop her opposite shoulder, she noted, "You're very welcome. No matter what next year holds, I'm positive that tonight is going to be spectacular."

A few moments later, the three ended their hug, at which point Impa folded her arms, glancing to Ciela with a nod at her suggestion. She did chuckle lightly at the mention of Link eating far too much candy, as the very thought of that took her back to the previous year when she had tried to advice him against gorging himself so. In the end, he had not listened, but at least his recovery had not taken too long. At Tetra's question, the Sheikah simply said, "More than enough, that's for certain… but he still had a decent bit left to enjoy later. You can all enjoy some candy tonight, but do be sure not to eat too much." The four kids might have been more than capable of knowing how to manage what they ate, but as their guardian, Impa still felt that a gentle reminder never hurt, especially since it was the pirate captain's first Halloween.

As Link inquired about a lantern, Impa turned to Tetra with a reassuring expression, stating, "Not too far, Tetra… although the furthest we might go would be Kev's cottage. The lighting outside is more than sufficient regardless of what we can see out there on our own, but the lantern as taken as more of an item to fit the mood of the night."

With that settled, Impa watched as Sheik moved to explain and open up her Din's Pearl replica, showing that the prop two disguised princesses had fashioned was especially unique in the way that it enabled at least one fairy to sit inside of it. The only question here was not whether Leaf would fly in or not, but just how quickly he was set to.
