    Kicking Sparklings

Post by Knock Out on Mon Oct 07, 2013 10:31 pm

    Time: Noon
    Date: 10/6/13

Knock Out had made a number of discoveries yesterday. First, and most importantly, was that he had apparently been here before. How that worked out, he had no idea. The young yellow femme had spotted him and called out to him before he had even introduced himself. She had apparently known him before, and was herself from a different universe or something from him. That was his second discovery. That apparently there were more universes out there, with more Cybertronians and versions of Cybertron. Livewire herself had been made on Earth, he still didn't quite get that, and hadn't even been involved in the War. Quite honestly, meeting Livewire had given him a lot more questions than answers. When he had finally found the little Cybertronian with blue optics that Crowley had mentioned, he had expected answers. Perhaps a chance to talk with any other Autobots that were here with her.

Instead, they were actually the only two Cybertronians. He wasn't really sure what to think of that. He liked other Cybertronians...for the most part. Some of them were obviously distasteful, or a pain, but honestly he'd take Insecticons and Predacons over being in a place with only one other Cybertronian. One that he didn't know, and that apparently had known...some version of himself. He refused to think that the other Knock Out could be himself. He was him! No one else was him! This was either a copy, a knock-off, or just some other version. It didn't really matter, since this other Knock Out was apparently gone, though it left him with a lot of people who had apparently known him.

His engine roared as he drove as fast as he could to the stadium, dust and rubble flying behind him. Livewire had also told him that he was apparently weaker here. Weaker than he had been before, which was just unfair! Why did he lose his strength, his well-earned experience just because he came here? There was some doubt, even. How could that happen? But the human Alexander and the fiery creature Prixlezub backed up her claims. "I guess we'll have to see, then..." She did say she could defeat him, and she was barely more than a Sparkling! If she did manage to best him in this little spar, that meant she was right and that they would just have to continue training to he was back to a strength that was what he deserved.

He entered into the stadium of the Arena, screeching to a halt before transforming. The dirt crunched beneath his pedes as he looked around, trying to see if Livewire was in sight yet. He had to admit, he preferred to have the only other Cybertronian on his side rather than against him. Her having been uninvolved in the War benefited him too. She had no real affiliations with the Autobots or the Decepticons. It was like an ally had been served up on a silver platter for him. They would just have to see how this would end.

"...Scrap, I didn't give her a time to meet up with me." Hopefully he wouldn't have to wait too long, right..?

Looking back, it would have been a good idea for Livewire to give Knock Out her comm number so that they could arrange a time to meet.   Had she not been still reeling from the news that not only was her friend effectively dead but now had a doppelganger wandering around, she probably would have remembered that little detail.

As it was, Livewire had arrived at the stadium around 7AM to wait for the not-new cybertronian she would be mentoring today.  She would have arrived earlier, when the day actually started at 12AM, but the sparkling wasn’t able to do much more than go home and clutch her sister tightly for comfort after encountering a dead friend who wasn’t actually her friend at all.  She was barely able to hold it together in the Sanctuary once she realized the situation, and only force of will and a sense of obligation pushed her to come to the Arena today.  She didn’t want to see Knock Out, she wished that she hadn’t of offered to help at all, but if she could help this one not disappear (again) then she’d do what she could.

So here she was, reclined in one of the stadium seats in the small size so many knew her as and thumbing through the pages of one of the books she had brought along for the potential wait.  Sometimes it was easier to learn about things like osmosis and the Butterfly Effect than it was to dwell on the things she didn’t want to think about.    It was in the middle of a chapter detailing lipids that Livewire’s audios picked up on the screeching of familiar tires on pavement.   Shutting her book, Livewire then stood up and stored it safely in her subspace before springing up to start hopping down the rows of seats until with a final fall her pedes made contact with the Stadium floor.

“Hey.”  The femme spoke out to Knock Out after he transformed and seemed to miss noticing her.  She was pretty darn tiny, so she wouldn’t fault him for that.   Livewire’s feet carried her across the floor to her opponent as her optics locked onto his with a sort of dry purpose, lacking in gumption but present all the same.  She wasn’t looking forward to this, but it was necessary and she knew it was what she should do, even if she honestly wanted to just pretend he wasn’t there and that her Knock Out might still be somewhere.

But what’s the good in thinking of a dead friend when they’re standing right in front of you, anyway?

Indeed, Knock Out had been keeping an optic out for a much...taller form. Livewire had been wearing that ring in the Sanctuary, sure, but he assumed that was just so she wouldn't have to duck and avoid the ceiling. It was why he considered it to be a good idea to have one for himself. He heard a book close and turned towards the stands, blinking. "Uh...how long have you been there? Exactly?" Well, at least he didn't have to wait long!

He leaned on one leg, crossing his arms as he looked back at her. His first impression of her was that she was...strange. Looking at her now, she still had her ring on, keeping herself tiny. She could be easily attacked, brought down, even crushed if someone had a mind to do it. When she said the War was before her time...he could believe it. She was young. Younger even than Bumblebee perhaps. Built on Earth, of all places. She had been 'friends' with this other him. And he was nice to her.

Not to say Knock Out couldn't be nice or cordial. Primus, compared to Megatron and Starscream, he was practically Mr. Rogers! But to the extent of being friends with this little femme...? How long was this Knock Off even here, before him? A year? Two years? Five? It was all confusing, frankly. He shook his head slightly, and focused on the almost dull blue optics. He wasn't about to make friends with her, he barely knew her. But he needed an ally in this strange world, and she was willing to help him out. "I'll give you the first strike, Livewire." He smiled to her and seemed to bow graciously. He would have made a remark of 'age before beauty' but, well, he was older and better looking! Maybe in return for this training session he could teach her some good lessons about how to buff her paint job and really make it shine.

Oh Knock Out, how silly of you to only look out for the things you’d expect to see.  You’ll learn, you’ll learn.  Livewire’s response to his question, “About 5 hours.” , held none of the annoyance that most people would feel had they given a similar response.  She didn’t really mind waiting; it wasn’t like she had anything else to do.

She continued to watch him blankly as the older mech shifted his weight, and she felt something inside of her flinch as she could practically hear him judging her in his processor.  That feeling was becoming more and more common, now days.  Livewire  Her own self-criticism was quickly taking over the majority of her thoughts, and the careful, concerning questions from those who worried about her only made it more difficult to keep up appearance around them.

With the shake of Knock Out’s head, a small weight of sadness settled itself on Livewire’s shoulders, though she’d never let it be seen.  Every passing moment the femme could pick out another difference between this mech and the copy she had known.  He seemed harsher, and the smiling, sarcastic bow told her that he didn’t take her seriously at all.   How sad it could seem that even though Livewire was one of the few residents lucky enough to have others like her there, she couldn’t really fit in with a single one of them.   She supposed the constant massive age gap might have something to do with it, or her comparatively unique origins, but neither of these explanations really made her feel any better.

Knock Out received no audial response from Livewire as he allowed her the first move, but she took this time to deactivate her shrinking ring so that she could fight him at a more even size.   She wanted this to be over quickly, to really drill into him the lesson that he should feel much less secure than his confidence led her to believe he felt.   He was weak and he needed to get stronger, and it was this knowledge that drove her as she braced herself into the ground before she pivoted quickly to bring a swinging kick aimed straight at the side of Knock Out’s helm, where she assumed his armor would be thinner.

5 hours? Really? Eesh. "You're determined, I'll give you that." She definitely had manners more befitting an Autobot then a Decepticon. If he had kept someone like Starscream waiting for that long, he'd be on the receiving end of a lecture and/or screaming fit. The Second-In-Command could be so impatient...

He gave her an approving nod when she took off that shrinking ring-thing of her's. This fight would be over far too quickly if she continued being a human's size. Though even at her full height, she was shorter than himself, probably more on par with that two wheeler. That two wheeler could still pack a good punch though, so perhaps keeping an eye on this sparkling would be smart. Still, he couldn't help but give her a partially polite, partially smug smile. "I'll try to go easy on you, Li-"

    WHAM

A sudden kick to the side of his helm sent him reeling back. "NYAARGH!" He felt his helm, wincing at the damage. Nothing critical, no, but...he very likely had a dent. He rubbed the dent and looked at the young femme, obviously surprised that she'd landed a hit on him that fast. That...painful. "Admirable flexibility, Livewire. Who taught you how to fight? Or did you teach yourself?" He paused for a moment to allow her to answer before his hands fell to his sides, spreading his talon-like fingers out. "I'll refrain from using my weapons, if I took you apart I'd only be giving myself more work to do to fix you. But do me a favor and go easy on the paint job!" A shame he didn't have his prod, but he could work with this. He charged towards her, sending a punch to the side of her own helm, following it up with two strikes at her abdomen with his talons. Not enough to pierce, of course! But enough to scratch.

Livewire was actually surprised that her hit managed to land.   She knew Knock Out was new (and rather arrogant), but she would have thought that his experience in the war would teach him to not present his head to the opponent.   Keeping him alive might be a bit harder than she first expected.

In his surprised optics she could see that her kick had probably put a dent in his assumptions about her, like his helm.  She remained tense in a ready stance with her arms raised before her and her feet anchored into the earth but ready to spring for when he made his move.

Knock Out wrote: "Admirable flexibility, Livewire. Who taught you how to fight? Or did you teach yourself?"
A mop of pink hair cracked loudly against the wall as yellow talons threw the scarred woman into the foundation of the arena, and the swirling creation of psychic energy into physical form assured the femme that Zippy wouldn’t stay down long.  A small green hooded darted through the trees as the femme followed in hot pursuit while a gruff chuckling from a Frankenstein mech was lost in the clumsy crashing of a sparkling too large for the area.  Light struck from a black Gantz suit as brown hair whipped wildly around the most experienced instructor Livewire ever had.  A suave, robotic voice called out in the darkness to keep her calm after she accidently disconnected her optics when Swindle showed her how to shoot for the first time-

Livewire wrenched herself out of her memories faster than she had slipped in.  Though it was in reality little more than a second she was quiet, to the child the lapse stretched far longer than it had any right to.   “A little of both.”  The femme’s attention zeroed in as she devoted it to the fight at hand as Knock Out presented his threat.  She considered for a moment telling him that he could go ahead and use them if he wanted to, but she simply nodded rather than accidentally insulting the proud mech.   As for going easy on the paint?  Considering that the red mostly marked the areas with heavier armor, Livewire supposed that aiming solely for the weaker areas wouldn’t be that much of an issue.  Not at all.

Her optics tracked his servo as she dipped back and to the side to avoid the first blow before twisting herself around to miss the points of his talons as they cut through the air where her waist had been before.  Metal screeching across the plating of her abdomen informed her that she took too long on the dodging turn as his talons made their mark.  At his full strength that might have ripped the plating, but for now it didn’t slow her down a bit.

The femme’s expression remained neutrally focused as she tried to hook her foot under the main plating above his ankle while she twisted her body around to swing her outstretched arm directly for the dent she left in his helm as she did her best to use his momentum to lift him off his pedes and slam him into the ground.

Present his head? It wasn't like he'd handed his head over with a gift basket addressed to Livewire! He was merely offering to take it easy on her when she struck out. He had been, unfortunately, caught off-guard is all. Nothing more. Livewire was younger, smaller, less experienced! Even if he was weaker, he had been able to take down Optimus Prime of all bots! ...With...help from Breakdown of course...but still.

A little of both then? He gave the young femme a curious glance as he thought over who else could have trained her. She was made on Earth, correct? Perhaps an Autobot or two had created her protoform and allowed...somehow...for the Allspark to put her Spark in her. Made sense to him. It was often a Creators' place to teach their Sparkling how to fight, after all! And after being transported here, she had taught herself how to fight to survive, made sense to him. Her slight slip into memory lane had gone mostly unnoticed, due to it being so short.

There was a nod in regards to the weapon, and no real response in regards to the paint. He hoped that meant she agreed, or would comply. He sent his punch, though she merely dipped back and towards the side. It stunned him a bit, and made him try even harder to scratch her up. Not due to any real malice or anything, just because he couldn't let her beat him up with nothing to show for it! She proved himself to be very light on her feet, though the sound of metal upon metal drew a smile on his face-plates. "Woops!" It hadn't done anything beyond cosmetic damage, but frag, he'd take it. He stepped back from her, optics paying attention to her this time. Her pede hooked onto his own and kept him momentarily in place while he struggled. "What is the meaning of-"

    WHAM

He grabbed at his helm and yelped in pain, jerking his pede away from her's and turning about to avoid her attempts to slam him. Instead, he caught her servos in his own, to keep her in place for a moment. "Would you stop striking me in the helm?! You're going to give me a concussion!" He jerked her servos upwards, he turn around so that she was behind him, and then he jerked her forwards, attempting to flip her in return. Whether that worked or not, he also threw in a punch to her helm.

Not striking him in the helm?  Yeah, she supposed she could do that.  There were plenty of other ways to attack, it was just that that particular method was rather effective.  Her optics widened just the slightest bit as the larger cybertronian jerked her around, and she only realized the increased leverage of her person when he pulled her up and over his shoulder in the successful execution of the move she had failed to perform.   Her body swung in an ark over him before her pedes hit the ground hard and she felt the tension cables with her legs strain under the force.

She struggled for a moment to keep her balance and prevent herself from falling, as well as looking for a way to turn this situation back around.   She knew she would emerge from this fine for even if Knock Out really dealt out the damage her spark would repair her frame without issue.   Even so, she still needed to stick to her plan of ending this quickly so that Knock Out would have greater incentive to regain his former strength as soon as he could.  Livewire glanced around as she struggled for footing, and looking up at where her wrists were still captured gave her a most devious, though hopefully effective, idea.

The femme paused before yanking down to drop all of her weight into the mech's hands, much like a child who doesn't want to be moved will do to spite their parents.  Unlike those children, however, Livewire had curved her fingers down so that if she were able to pull her wrist down from Knock Out's hold, the tips of her claws would be lined up with the small gap of plating that lead to the cables and energon lines for his hands and fingers.

Even if she wasn't able to hook her claws in to get at those delicate inner workings, Livewire's yanking aimed to pull Knock Out off of his feet and drag him front-first into the ground so that she could use his own weight against the armor protecting his front.   She doubted it would do much damage, as cybertronium was made to withstand greater forces than just being thrown, but everything helps.
