Once again, Link watched the transformation back to their normal selves carefully but tried as he might, it happened too quickly for him and the fairies to catch. Literally, one second they were bear, rabbit and boy and the next they were Sheikah, Hylian boy and Hylian girl - though with the latter, Link still couldn’t see any difference and neither could the rather perceptive Ciela.

Leaf, on the other hand, puffed at the thanks he got, looked at Tatl and devolved into a sulky silence atop Link’s head. It was one thing being called a dingbat when he did something wrong but to still be regarded as one even when he did something good? That’s not fair! Who came up with these rules?! You shouldn’t be allowed to call him a dingbat when he firstly does not ding and nor was he a bat! He wisely continued to keep his big mouth shut though, for once knowing better than to speak up and spark up an argument as to why he had somehow earned himself a new nickname. In a verbal match he would readily acknowledge defeat to all of the fairies here on Portal Breach but that didn’t matter to him as much as he knew he was the ‘hottest’ fairy around.

As his friends shook the droplets from their hair, Link grinned, once again relieved that the hot water worked and that they were not permanently stuck in those forms. He waved at them, stepped back into their immediate vicinity and nodded in agreement. Yes, they should get home. Neri would be expecting them and whilst she understood delays very well, the spirit had an unavoidable tendency to worry about every little thing the longer it took.

“I’m not so sure about that,” sighed Ciela as she floated down to rest on Zelda’s bandaged head. “She might in the long run but even after being with her for so long, I still can’t properly gauge her reactions to unexpected news. I just know that if it’s stressing me out, it would stress Neri out even more.”

It turned out that the fairies’ perching on Hylian heads was timely as Impa placed her hands on the kids and before any of the two Spirits and Link could make any noise, they were transported from the sidewalk to the inn’s front door faster than a snap. Link blinked several times in surprise and confusion. “Oh...Aa!”and then he laughed, two years on and still taking a few seconds to realise what happened after emerging from the Sheikah Vanish.

“Eh,” he sounded and turned the handle on the front door, pushing in and ushering the others through.

“Welcome back!” Neri immediately chimed alongside the bell that hung above the front door. She flew up from the reception desk, flitted forward until she was in front of them. She quickly eyed each of them up and down, noting no injuries. She had the first aid box ready under the desk if they were hurt though she knew whatever scratches and cuts they might had got from training would either be healed via magic by Impa or Sheik by now or they could had dropped by the hospital on the way home.  “How was training? You all must be tired. Rosa said they made cookies and for you to have some later if you’d like.”

At catching Leaf's puff and subsequent sulk, Tatl simply sighed before moving to bop him on top of his glow, noting, "You did a good job. Acting like that after helping would make you a dingbat. Brighten back up." Sheesh, deflating some over a quip of hers? That was DEFINITELY something a dingbat would do… sure, he would always have that nickname from her, but the Terminian fairy would readily admit when her red friend had done something good. After all, even though he made her roll her glow at times, they were still friends. Dingbat or not, Leaf was a good fairy, and with the way the day had gone, Tatl was determined to keep him acting his best… especially since they were running back into Neri soon.

Although Link did sympathize with Ciela's concern, he was still just as happy to see Sheik and Impa return to themselves from Leaf's efforts as he was that they were all set to hurry up and close the distance to home. It seemed that Impa was even more set for his suggestion though, as in short order once Tatl lighted up near his ear, the Sage of Shadow had Sheikah Vanished the lot of them right to the front door of the inn. Blinking in surprise before laughing a little, Link nodded his thanks to Impa before heading towards the door at her gesture.

No sooner had the older Link opened the door than had Neri flown up to greet them, cheerily checking on each of them and even relaying a message from Rosa. This exchange only proved that even though they were all cursed now, nothing had really changed… they just had to be careful no matter where they were, but with happy greetings and cookies? They could certainly weather this.

"Thanks Neri," said Link, smiling to the blue fairy as she flew over to them. Sharing a quick glance with his friends before looking back to her, he added, "Training was fine. We got a lot of good practice in, and I think Link and I got even better at some of our dodges!"

Said dodges were going to be very key for as long as they had these curses… and hopefully, they would prove successful more often than not.

Sheik's expression shifted into a sympathetic one at Ciela's words as the Spirit of Courage landed on her head. She knew that her friend was right… honestly, she had a strong feeling that no matter how Neri took the news at first, she would at the very least be able to handle it. There would undoubtedly be quite a bit of fretting from her end as that was simply the nature of the Spirit of Wisdom. Hopefully, they would be able to help her more through this by showing that despite the fact that they were cursed, they really were fine… curses were never good of course, but considering the other events that the four of them had made it through, this was quite honestly pretty mild.

The curses were not able to be controlled, but they could at least be managed… and even with as awkward as the sudden transformations had the potential to be, they were still themselves throughout them, and their forms were not too bad. There were certainly far worse things they could turn into after all. Instead, the disguised princess was fairly certain that even though it would take a little time to get more used to their cursed forms, that they would be able to do so quickly and definitely make the most of them.

"No, I agree… but even if it takes her a little while to adjust to this, I know that she'll be able to," stated Sheik, glancing up towards Ciela. "We just need to make sure we tell her sooner rather than later. I promise to do everything I can to help lessen her stress, though… and yours as well."

A moment later, Impa performed a Sheikah Vanish that carried all of them to the very front of the inn, and with a grateful nod to her guardian, the disguised princess moved to follow after Link and Link towards the lobby. They were instantly met by Neri herself, and although she felt a little bad for her not having any idea as to what had happened to them around her cheery greeting, Sheik was very glad to see her.

"Hey Neri. Thank you," said Sheik, smiling to the Spirit of Wisdom as she flew towards them. Holding out her left knuckles for a fairy fistbump and potential perch for her friend, the disguised princess nodded along with Link, adding, "We're a little tired, but it was a really good training session. Those cookies might be nice after we shower up."

Given what was to happen next, it seemed that a shower was going to be set for the four Hyruleans regardless of just how refreshing one could be. A few moments after they had all entered the lobby, one unsuspecting Roger Wilco the janitor began to make his way past them. He had filled up the rolling mop bucket station with fresh water and was set to go add his cleaning solution to it, but as it stood, he was going to be in need of new water soon. As he wheeled the small cleaning cart past the Hyruleans, he wound up tripping on one of the wheels and tumbling into the cart with more force than he might have suspected, sending the full contents of the bucket splashing onto Link, Link, Impa, and Sheik.

Instead of just finding the quartet of his coworkers wet from the unintentional splash, only Sheik seemed to be in the position one might expect… Link, Link, and Impa however had disappeared from sight, only to be replaced with a piglet, a rabbit, and a large bear. No sooner had a quick "I'm sorry!" tumbled from Roger's mouth than had he begun to stare in shock, looking from the animals to the security assistant with wide eyes. What... what had happened?!

As for Sheik, he was frozen on the spot for a few moments, hardly able to believe that that had just happened… but with a quick glance to his cursed family and back to Neri, he could only manage to say, "Ah… sorry, Neri. I know this might seem strange, but I promise you it's all right." He knew that they were going to have to tell her sooner or later, but hopefully, this sudden transformation would not have a bad impact on their forthcoming explanation for her. At least they would have a good point to lead into once they got upstairs…

Smiling softly at Sheik's reassurance to the Spirit of Courage, Impa glanced to her before stating, "He's right, Ciela… the four of us might be the ones that got cursed, but we are all in this together. No matter what, you have my word that we will help each of you make it through it just as well as we will ourselves… it's the least we can do for the support you have already given us."

Ciela might have been stressed by this strange turn of events, but to the Sheikah, she had still been immensely helpful and far stronger in this than she herself likely realized. The four Hyruleans were all strong enough to make it through this, and that was only strengthened by the fact that they were together… and along with their fairy companions, they were set to face anything that these curses might bring along with them.

Once they had all reappeared in front of the inn courtesy of her Sheikah Vanish, Impa smiled and nodded to her charges before moving through the door to the lobby, catching it from the older Link before motioning for him to head on inside.

With a cheery greeting and quick flight from the reception desk, they were soon met by Neri. Impa knew full well that once they were able to tell her about what had happened in the forest, that she would most certainly worry and fret over them… it was simply in her nature alongside the care that she always expressed. Hopefully though, even with the concern that was to follow, she would at least be able to settle into the news without too much trouble… with the four of them as well as her fellow fairies at her side, the Sage of Shadow was sure that she would be. It might not be easy at first, but with everything that they had risen up to face even before they had all arrived on the Breach, it was most assuredly their strongest possibility.

"Hello Neri," greeted Impa, smiling warmly and nodding to her. "It was an excellent training session… everyone did a wonderful job, but even with as nice as it was, it is very good to be back home." The Sheikah had definitely enjoyed the session with her three charges, but even though they all loved being able to get out and explore as well as train, it was always nice to be able to return home. It was a chance for them to have some well-deserved relaxation, refresh themselves, and spend more time together in an even cozier setting. "I trust everything was fine whilst we were out?"

The initial greeting with the Spirit of Wisdom had been perfectly smooth, but it seemed that misfortune had decided to make one hapless janitor out of Roger, as the four Hyruleans soon found themselves splashed and suddenly turned right back into their cursed forms. Impa blinked as she felt the instant change happen once more, right before she let out a soft growl of a sigh… at least they were back at the inn now, even if they had not even made it upstairs before they had been transformed again.

With nod to Roger's apology to show him that it was fine despite his apparent and very understandable confusion, Impa quickly checked to make sure that Link, Link, and Sheik were all still fine… right before she switched her attention back to Neri. Oh Nayru, hopefully this would not stress the blue fairy out too much. It might have been a quicker exposure to their curses than any of them had wanted, but hopefully, they would be able to use this accident to their advantage once they were able to return to their rooms.

Impa remained silent as she watched Neri, carefully gauging her reaction… even with this less than expected splash, at the very least, they had made it home safely.

If there was any fairy more than happy to give fairy fistbumps, it was Neri. The Spirit of Wisdom’s attention instantly zoomed in on the Sheik’s offered hand, flew forward to bump lightly on the girl’s knuckles. “Don’t mind if I do,” giggled Neri as she alighted on Sheik’s hand after the bump.

Ah, they did dodge practice today? She had been curious as to what was on the training agenda this afternoon. They had covered accuracy and magic just last week and hand to hand combat the other day, really, training never ends with their family of four. “That’s great! I can’t wait to see how much you all have improved! It’s a warm day as well so I’m sure you all can’t wait to take a shower now. Everything here has been fine. I’ll finish up the last of the work and bring up the cookies when you’re all done.”

With that, the blue fairy floated off Sheik's knuckles and was poised to shoo the Hyrulean quartet up to their rooms when there was a noise and a splash that just barely missed herself and….

    ….

    What?

The Spirit of Wisdom’s wings slowed and she turned and gape silently at the collection of animals that stood where Impa, Link and Link were just standing. It was… It was like one instant, they were there and the next, they were replaced with animals. She didn’t. What is… Wait, did Impa Sheikah Vanish away and put animals in their place? They already had two cows, a pig and some cuccos so she guessed having another pig and a rabbit is fine. Oh dear, the underground carpark was slowly turning into a barn indeed. But a BEAR as well? Is it tame? It wouldn’t eat the cuccos, right? Actually, the way it’s standing like that so quietly kind of suggested that it was….was….was…

It’s not the water. There was nothing wrong with the water or else there would be cries erupting everywhere right now as everybody got turned into animals. So… so… unless ROGER’s water was tainted by something. Could Vaati have somehow snuck something in? No, Impa and Sheik would had sense that sort of malicious intent passing the barriers. So….

The. Bear. Had. A. Collar. Just. Like. Impa’s.

“Something happened while you were out, didn’t it?” Neri breathed, her gaze lowering and dread building up so much that she wasn’t even sure if anybody said anything or if any of them moved. She was far too focused on individual things to notice or hear. The piglet had a hat… Link’s hat. And its eyes looked so familiar gazing up at her with worry… and… and the rabbit is wearing...but.. how can…???

Before Neri’s gaze flicked up to Ciela who flinched back, to Leaf who shuffled in the air awkwardly, to the bear, to Sheik, to the piglet, to Sheik, to Tatl, to the rabbit and then the cycle started all over again as Spirit started to hyperventilate. Before she could descend into a further state of panic, her glow dulled and she fell forward, no longer conscious.

    “Neri!”
    “Oh Din...”
    “SQUUURRR!”

Link was glad to hear that Neri was happy with their training, and admittedly, he was also very glad to hear her suggestion about going to take a shower. He had already planned on a nice, hot shower after that training even before they had all been cursed, but given the water-activation of these curses, he was looking especially forward to it. Chuckling a bit at Neri's insistence for them to get a move on, Link was just about ready to thank her and head towards the stairs when suddenly…

    *SPLASH!*

Link, Link, Sheik, and Impa all found themselves splashed with cold water and once more changed into their cursed forms. The transformation was of course instant, but even as he tried to shake some of the water from his head, the Hero of Time's eyes soon widened. He was of course surprised that they had just barely made it home and they had already been splashed, but more than that, Neri was already getting a glimpse of their curses.

"Ah…" Link looked from Tatl to Neri with a concerned expression, watching her carefully as her wings slowed in midair. At the very least, she had not shrieked or anything, but she was most definitely stunned at seeing the way that the quartet all now had very different forms… even if one of those was not obvious at all just from looking. As the Spirit of Wisdom studied each of them through her shock, her next question seemed to indicate that she hadn't even heard what Sheik had told her… but… even so, she seemed to have pieced the clues together and figured out that yes, she really was seeing this.

With a sigh and chime of her own, Tatl simply nodded to Neri's question, stating, "Yeah, you could say that." Great. JUST great. They barely get in the door and get to see Neri again and the curses were already activated. She supposed that in the end, it helped get the hard part over with, but even so… it might have been NICE to have some WARNING, or at the very least a little more control over the situation. But, all things considered, this might have been the easiest way for her to find out, even if it was likely to lead to…

Neri fainting. Yep. Tatl had called it.

Link was not exactly surprised to see Neri's shock, but he was a little caught off guard as she dimmed her glow before outright fainting. Wait, fainting meant she was falling! "Neri!!" Even if he wasn't the first to catch her, he was still set to move forward to!

Sheik smiled at Neri's gentle bump against her fist before she lit up atop her knuckles, soon chuckling at her friend's own giggled statement. She was glad to hear both how happy she was for their training as well as how insistent she was that they head on up and take showers. Admittedly, regardless as the the weather today, the disguised princess had been prepared to take a nice, hot shower once she had returned to the inn… the entire event with each of them being cursed and the splashes around that only added to it. She might have been a girl at the moment, but even though hot water would not change her from her true form, she was still definitely looking forward to the hot shower that awaited her.

"That sounds like a great idea, Neri… thanks," said Sheik, nodding to the blue fairy just as she backed away to usher them towards the stairs. However, Roger's unfortunate timing saw not only to them getting splashed, but to all four of them transforming right before Neri's eyes. Oh Nayru… this certainly had landed them in a position of having a chance to show her that whilst they were all okay, something had most certainly happened whilst they were out...

The Spirit of Wisdom was effectively frozen in place as she silently stared at Link, Impa, and Link. She did not seem to have picked up on Sheik's own transformation, which at the moment was at least something of a small relief, but even so… time seemed to slow for her as she mumbled her question about something happening while they had been out training. Sheik's face fell as he caught every trace of dread that lined up with Neri's shock, and even though he was certain that the blue fairy had not heard his reassurance, he was no less determined to try to help her out here.

As Neri's attention bolted between the different clues as to what had happened, the disguised princes met her gaze each time she looked to him. Her rapid focus shifting caught up to her as quickly as her breath did, and no sooner had the Spirit of Wisdom's panic caused her glow to dull, than had she fallen forward, her wings no longer moving as she had fainted.

"Neri!" Sheik called, quickly reaching forward to catch the blue fairy even as he realized that yes, his voice had in fact cracked there. Given his own position closest to the Spirit of Wisdom, she had thankfully been easy to catch, but he still let out a sigh of relief as he confirmed that he had her safely in his hands. She was most definitely out cold, but at the very least, she was physically okay. Sheik could pick up her soft breathing, and he soon glanced to Ciela, Leaf, and Tatl, noting, "I've got her… she'll be okay."

With a glance to the Hero of Winds that he hoped was as reassuring as he was trying for it to be, Sheik soon looked to Impa and the younger Link as well, stating, "Well, at least she knows now…"

Sheik quickly looked to Roger, waving to him before adding, "It… it's okay, Roger… they're fine. We just… had a little accident while we were out training. I'll explain later, all right?"

With a stunned but accepting nod to the young security assistant, Roger watched as the boy motioned for the bear, rabbit, and piglet to follow after him. Wow… what… WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED?!

"We'd better head on upstairs…" said Sheik, moving towards the elevator as he continued to carry Neri in his hands. "Those showers will be the best thing for us right now, and we can go ahead and get them while we wait for Neri to come to."

No sooner had Neri got set to usher the returned Hyruleans upstairs than had a rogue splash courtesy of one unlucky Roger hit the quartet, instantly activating their curses. Impa blinked a couple of times and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as she focused on the Spirit of Wisdom, noting just how stunned she was as she continued to stare at them. It was to be expected, but all things considered, Neri could have taken this sudden turn of events a lot worse. She might not have been certain if any of them had said anything or moved at all, but at the very least, she was still right there with them… she was most definitely stunned, but she was still able to try and reason out just what had happened.

With the way that Neri was focused especially on her now… it seemed that she had caught sight of the armored collar that she somehow managed to keep even when she turned into a bear.

And with her shocked statement, Impa could only nod firmly to echo Tatl's reply. Something had most certainly happened… but even with as bizarre as it was, at the very least, things could have been a lot worse.

All four of them were still okay, they were uninjured, and although they were cursed, they were still themselves. As far as curses went, these were not too bad, and at least they were not always active… and even then, each of them was something they could overcome. They were already proving to be inconvenient, but at the same time, that same slight annoyance they brought might have just turned out to be their best option for showing Neri just what had transpired in the forest.

The Spirit of Wisdom was still beyond surprised, but as Ciela would likely note, the hard part was out of the way.

Now they only had to catch Neri from where the newly fainted fairy was falling.

Impa's round ears perked up the instant that Neri started to fall, but no sooner had her charges and the fairies called out in concern, Sheik had moved forward to catch her just in time. With a proud growl and nod to the disguised prince at his quick action, Impa followed his gaze to Roger as the two tried to both vocally and silently assure him that as strange as this situation might have seemed, everything really was okay. In his typical fashion, he just nodded despite his apparent disbelief, but his understanding nature also better enabled them to continue on towards their rooms.

Impa nodded in agreement with Sheik's suggestion, inwardly feeling rather glad that her charge had voiced what she herself would have had she been able to at the moment. Once they were all inside of the elevator, the bear produced Link's digiglass once more, soon carefully writing on it, "I suggest we all head to our room first… then the two of you go to your rooms through the doors as soon as we are all set to shower and change back."

Link could not believe their awful luck. Just when they thought they were finally safe indoors, literally less than five minutes later they were soaking wet and he found his line of vision lowered from being in line with Sheik's nose to just below at the boy's knee. The other two fairies each reacted differently to the splash. Ciela just wanted to cover the front of her glow with her wings and Leaf who was a little off in his own imaginative world had failed to dodge the splash so found himself happily preoccupied with shaking water droplets off himself instead of worrying about a fellow Spirit's reaction.

By the time the Spirit of Power's attention was back and a puff of fire magic had quickened his own drying process, Ciela and Link was staring at Neri, holding their breaths as they waited for her reaction. They did not even dare blink especially when they realised that Neri wasn't even listening to Sheik.

As the blue fairy's gaze landed on Impa's collar, Link felt an increasing amount of dread whilst Ciela found herself in the strange position of not looking forward for what was to come and also relieved that the start - the hard part - was over. When Neri asked if something happened while they were out, Ciela could only manage an "Um..." as she looked to the others and Link froze from his position near ground level.

"Yes?" Ciela finally answered alongside Tatl, again feeling grateful that the Terminian fairy was there. The fairy's wings drooped a little though as now she was also having the tiniest bit of guilt creeping in for starting to feel a bit more unstressed when this was obviously starting to stress Neri out. Whether the blue fairy heard either of them or not though was another question but one thing was evident and that was that this event proved more than Neri could handle at this moment!

With a cry each, Link, Ciela and Leaf surged forward. They wouldn't make it! But it's okay! The three skidded to a halt when they saw their fairy friend land safely into Sheik's hands. Link puffed, slumped down enough for his belly to touch the wooden floor and gave Sheik a weary and grateful nod. This day was certainly feeling a lot longer than it should be and that shower could not come soon enough nor be more appreciated. Whilst Leaf sank a good foot downwards from relief and Ciela flew forward, resting on the edge of the princess-turned-prince's hand so that she could check upon Neri.

"She'll be fine," assured Ciela as well. She gently nudged the unconscious fairy and as she did so, almost all the stress she had built up on her wings melted off. She still worried about how the spirit would take to the explanation of the what happened but at least the subject is now broached. Right, that part was over now it should be a straight path... hopefully.

Link nodded his goodbyes to Roger, making a promise to himself to fully explain to all the staff later about what happened and what they would have to be mindful of in the near future. He wondered if he could go through with the explanation without having to splash himself as proof...

As he pondered, they made their way to the elevator and once inside, the piglet stared at the floor with a bit more amazement. Being so close to the ground, he could feel the elevator move even more! This was... he wasn't sure if it was cool or not. On one hand it's fascinating and on the other, one upwards tilt of his snout brought the vivid reminder that he cannot touch any of the buttons from this height.

He snuffled in agreement to Impa's suggestion. Going down the trapdoor and slide sounded a lot easier than trying to see if he could extract his cardkey. He was sure Ciela and Leaf could open the door for him but he was sure he would be answering for everyone in that they all wanted to make sure Neri was settled before they went to take their very welcomed showers

    Re: The Heart-Pounding Splash-Dodging Tour

Whilst everyone was set to catch Neri, Sheik proved the fastest and the now fainted Spirit of Wisdom had landed safely in his hands. Link let out a sigh of relief, catching his older nametwin's grateful nod to the disguised prince before chuckling a little sheepishly. Nodding at Ciela and Sheik's assessments of her, Link noted, "Yeah... she does know, and she will be okay."

The hardest part to come had admittedly been breaking the subject to Neri, but even though she had fallen unconscious, at the very least, they now had a good lead-in for once she woke up. It was still going to be tricky explaining everything to her of course, but he was fully confident that they could handle it. After all, they had all had their turn at explaining differing timelines, secret identities, new items, and all sorts of strange happenings around different events that hit the Breach… the curses themselves might distress the Spirit of Wisdom, but her friends were still well versed in relaying news that held all sorts of levels of believability. They knew Neri… and they knew that she would be able to handle this.

As the four cursed Hyruleans moved towards the elevator, Link nodded in agreement to Sheik's words. Never had he thought he'd be so grateful for a hot shower… they were certainly one of the innovations that he loved about the technology on the Breach, but even with as refreshing as they were, he was looking even more forward to it since he knew he would be able to return to himself with this one.

Once the elevator arrived, Tatl darted inside and quickly pressed the button for the fourth floor, soon confirming that she and Impa had had much the same idea. It just made so much more sense for all of them to start at Impa and Sheik's room, especially given the currently smaller statures of both Link and Link. Sure, they might be able to make their way inside their rooms, but with the side door and trap door, as well as the fact that this way they could better get situated as a whole, why not go on in to the one room that connected them all?

Chiming in agreement with the bear's text, Tatl stated, "That's a good idea… hopefully things will stay pretty uneventful once we get inside the rooms."

Nodding along with both Impa's suggestion and Tatl's seconding of it, Link glanced up towards the buttons from his much lower vantage point, feeling his ears droop back as he realized once more just how small he really was in this form. On the one paw, it was going to be neat to experience the elevator from such close proximity to the floor, but on the other… oh Nayru, he really hoped that these curses would not last for too long…

"Yeah… I hope so too," said Link, nodding to his friends as the doors closed in front of them. "At least we're back home now."
