    An Empty Mind

    Time: ???
    Date: 28th September, 2013

Ridley sat, perched on one of the remaining pillars of what remained on the old city of Chozodia on the surface of Planet Zebes. It had been pretty serene, ever since he'd stopped giving a shit about what happened on Portal Breach. Sometimes he'd involve himself solely for the sake of bloodshed; all other times, he'd just sit back and watch, not caring what happened. Honestly, what happened to the citizens of Portal Breach had fallen off his priority list for a while. Well, unless they died. That was amusing to watch. Or cause, which was even better. Unfortunately, he only ever involved himself if someone challenged HIM nowadays. There wasn't much else to do though, so he might go in for a fight and a kill sooner or later.

There were probably a good amount of newbies around that he wasn't aware of, but he wasn't too bothered about that. Weak bastards that couldn't handle themselves yet didn't post a challenge, and while he did so love to kill... on a world like this, it was much more limited than a world like his old one, where species were everywhere, ripe for the picking. The world of the Galactic Federation and the Space Pirates, fighting a (nearly) endless war... ripples of ages past flew through his mind. Here, he was indefinitely weaker; he could lose to more or less anyone.

He didn't ponder stuff like this often. A plague on the mind was what it was. Living in the past was bad for your health. It was kinda useless thinking about it... so Ridley stopped. He would think of different things, not that he cared about much.

All there really was in his life was killing and science, after all.

An empty mind? Not so much anymore. A transmission came through on Ridley's communicator. Lord Ridley?" The Space Pirate asked, used to talking to its superiors. "We've detected activity in an unauthorised Space Pirate generator on Portal Breach." An unauthorised Space Pirate generator...? How would anyone even go about escaping with one of those? There hadn't been any missing reports, either... As if echoing his mental spike in thought processes, the Pirate continued to speak. "I got the guards on duty to check; there are no missing or stolen generators. It's a mystery..."

Ridley's eyes narrowed. Someone was using a generator... yet none were missing? What on Earth were they on about...? "So where is it?" He asked, looking up into space. The line went silent for a second, and he assumed the Space Pirate on the other end was researching, just to make sure that it didn't get any information wrong when reporting. "...It appears to be the Icelands, Lord Ridley." This rung a few bells in the Pirate Lord's head. He turned back towards Tourian. "It took us a while to figure out what the problem was due to some interference, but we managed to."

"The Icelands? Heh, I know exactly where it's coming from..." Ridley had remembered. That time, back before Zebes had been brought back. "So, they rebuilt an entire base? Hack into their security feed. It's still our technology running on our power, it's possible. I want to know everything that happens." If it was a hero, he'd travel down and evict them. If it wasn't... he'd watch and see how it played out. It would be fun if it was an evildoer.

But little did he know how fun it was going to be...
