    7:00PM, August 18th

Uriel's orange wings dip toward the ground as he flies toward central park. Small tinges of red still cling to his ethereal wings, right at the top joint before the flight feathers. His eye blinks to the right and he sees the discoloration, his face contorting into something like a grimace before he shakes his headphoned head to clear it. His current musique is just a garbled sound of different songs, like he's trying to find out what he wants but just can't.

He nears the ground and spreads out his wings, he kicks downward and sends a small kinetic wave downward to slow him further. He's never been as graceful at flying as his brothers, even Kaige his bulkier brother. The ground's dust shoots upwards as he lands on his feet. The almost evening sky of summer starting to give the park a orange glow. A small glimmer of smile touches the musical Synya's face. His face seems to be covered with orange glowing tattoos at the moment. The leaking magick from Jherrek's runework making it show on his illusionary flesh.

He sighs, looking at his bare arms, his black tanktop showing off all the orange runework. He shakes his head and walks over to the middle of the park and grabs at Guz, who is in black and orange striped beanie form. The sprite turns into his normal form and cocks his head at Uriel.

~Out and about today, aren't we?~ Uriel's radiovoice has been getting better and better lately. Less pulled from songs and more sounding like autotuned talking. The occasional 'quote' of a song touches his 'voice', but it's slowly becoming more fluent the longer he's on the Breach.

Uriel looks around at the few people at the park, turning away from them and smooshing Guz between his hands, his fighting gloves blink into existence in his hands in a burst of orange light.

He takes a quick stance, his musique turning into a bit of orchestra and rock. He stays in horse stance for a moment and then gathers some kinetic energy in his palm to push at the ground. He punches the air and the grass flattens in the immediate area. He smiles a bit, continuing his little dance with more kicks and punches that generally play with gravity in the small area he's in.

    So weak.

Just as Uriel brings his fist up to perform a devastating ranged blow to his invisible enemies, that voice rings in his head. His eyes waver, and his halo flares up for only a moment.

His arms go limp and he sits down hard on the ground.

    ~Wh... what?~

He tries, but Niddhog's presence is already gone.

He sits there and stares at his hands, which glow with both his powers and the rune tattoos covering his flesh.

What has he gotten himself into?

Sometimes, whenever you really needed to get some time to yourself -- some GOOD time for yourself -- sticking to the place you called home was the best remedy. Other times, it was just as important to get out and have a nice change of scenery. Today was one of those days, and the former space pirate Ryoko was inwardly very pleased with herself for having chosen to take to the park this evening.

It was a pretty significant place for her here… after all, it might not have been where she had first arrived on the Breach, but it had been where she had reunited with her mother and 'sister.' And sometimes, when she really wanted a good place to just come, sit, and relax, she found that it was still a great place to return to.

As it was… she was sitting and relaxing, leaned back, legs stretched out and crossed at the ankles, nice and set with her arms across her lap… up in the branch of a medium-sized tree. Hey, it was comfortable… and best of all, she could watch the scenery and passersby without having to interact on anything but her own terms.

After the less than pleasant discovery of her disappeared friend last month, Ryoko had been taking the time to recover, and whilst much of that time had been spent in Washu's lab, she had managed to get out and about from time to time. As it was, she had mostly healed from that sudden hole left from who had become one of her best friends, but even with her own powers of regeneration, she had a feeling that this scar was going to remain for quite some time… if not forever.

Sighing as she puffed out a bit of air to push some of her spiky hair out of her face, Ryoko forced those thoughts from her mind, instead glancing over to see the form of some orange-winged guy with black hair and a pair of headphones fly right into the park. Now that made her blink and raise her eyebrows… she didn't know the guy personally, but she had seen him a number of times around the Stock Pot Inn whenever she had gone to visit Kiyone. Pretty much all in passing of course, but still… a guy like that, he left an impression.

From her treetop perch, Ryoko's golden gaze followed the Synya as he touched down, soon speaking to the beanie in his hands before taking a fighting stance. Huh… was he going to shadow box or something? Now that ought to be interesting…

His moves seemed to be more like a dance than any combat practice, but only as he was just getting going, he came to a sudden halt, stopping his fist before he could send a punch, and plopping right down on the ground. Ryoko blinked in confusion as the new arrival in the park stared down at his hands, more out of curiosity as to what that sudden stop was all about than at the glow which pulsed across his hands. Okay, something was definitely going on here… and it had been just strange enough to pique the former space pirate's interest.

"Hey," called Ryoko after a few moments, right before she phased out from her spot in the tree, soon reappearing on the ground near him. "You all right there?"

Uriel shakes his hands out for a moment and pulls his knees up to his chest. The look on his face a cross between a grimace and confused. Normally Niddhogg's little outbursts like that are much more violent. That felt... so easy. And natural. That simple fact both disconcerted him and made him curious. Thus his face.

He blinks a few times, rapidly, and holds his hands up to his face. Did it have something to do with his powers being used? No no, that's something completely different. When Niddhogg possessed him back in the forest, the connection was consciousnesses, not an exchange of powers. Or was it? The whole thing has Uriel's head spinning, and he only just got here to the park!

He looks up to see Ryoko standing before him, his eyes grow wide and he backpedals on the ground, a small record-scratch sound plays out of his headphones, ripping him from his train of thought.

~OH! Oh, hello there!~ his radiovoice stumbles at first, but works itself out in the end. He seems a bit taken aback at her sudden appearance, which is definitely odd. He wonders what made him so jumpy, then shakes his head at more thoughts of Niddhogg.

He quickly stands up, his musique starting to take an actual song this time, just some simple violin concerto.

~Sorry, did I bother you?~ He says with more fluency. He bows his head a bit in apology. You never know what kind of people are here on the Breach, he's learned, and apparently all sorts of things can bother people.

Guz comes out of Gauntlet form and turns into his little sprite self on Uriel's shoulder. The little holding on to the Synya's ear like a handle.

Leaning forward slightly as she curiously looked over the guy who had taken a sudden seat on the grass, Ryoko merely blinked as his eyes went wide. She did cock her head to the side a moment later though, not so much from his immediate backpedaling on the ground but more from the record-scratching sound she heard. Huh… that was emitted from his headphones? It was appropriate she guessed… but not exactly expected. Much the same could be said about some of her own abilities he guessed… but at least the guy seemed to be able to greet her despite his definite surprise at her appearance out of nowhere.

Teleporting might occasionally catch some people off guard, but keeping them on their toes was the best way to keep up with doing the unexpected.

Ryoko watched as the Synya moved to stand, blinking once more as his musique kicked in… now that was a nice tune. At his apology and question though, she just shook her head and waved a hand. "Nah, you didn't bother me. I was just curious because of the way you plopped right down," stated Ryoko. "That's it, really… just wanted to see if you were okay."

At least the guy seemed to be okay now… or at the very least a little better than he had a few moments ago. Catching a quick glance at the red sprite that soon materialized on the Synya's shoulder, Ryoko paused for a moment before turning back to him, asking her original question once more. "So… are you all right?"

Uriel straightened himself the best he could, whilst still wiggling his shoulders, and nods his head at her in greeting this time.

~Yeah, I'm doing alright... H...Hello though! My name's Uriel. What's yours?~ He does his best to smile, a line of sweat drips down his face and he licks it away from his cheek.

His rune tattoos flare a little on his shoulder, and then his left cheek, and then near his eye.

Weak little being, why are you just standing there? We both know how well you hold yourself in a fight, get stronger, devour this wretched thing before you and continue on!

The voice of Niddhog rings between his headphones. Ryoko would hear nothing but a murmuring of growls, definitely draconic. Uriel winces visibly, though, and squints his eyes. He's not fighting for control... no... the runes are holding back the dragon completely. But the voice continues to come back. Uriel's musique softens a little before returning. A dramatic violin solo.

~What... what's going on?~ Okay, so he's not okay. This would be far more helpful if he had some way of quieting the beast.

Uriel's headphones make it seem like the dragon's low growl is coming from multiple directions, like soft surround sound.

"Good," said Ryoko, nodding to the guy with a smile as he introduced himself. He still seemed a little uneasy from whatever had got him a few moments ago, but it was nice to confirm that he was okay. And Uriel, huh? Interesting name. "Yeah, hello there. Nice to meet you, Uriel… I'm Ryoko."

A moment later, the former space pirate raised an eyebrow as the rune tattoos that decorated his shoulder, left cheek, and area near his eye started to flare a bit. She had already noticed the markings that adorned him well before she had teleported down to check on him, and although tattoos of any sort weren't foreign to her at all, these were certainly pretty unique ones. Just why were they glowing like that? Was it something related to his powers, or was there something else going on here?

Ryoko's longer ears perked up at catching the series of deep, guttural growls emanating from Uriel's headphones, and she soon narrowed her gaze at catching his noticeable wince. No, this was definitely something else…

However, as the low growls were soon accompanied by a rather sudden violin solo, it seemed that Ryoko was not the only one that was confused about what was happening… Uriel himself didn't seem to have any idea either.

Cocking her head to the side a little as she regarded Uriel, her golden gaze still a bit sharper as she focused on him, Ryoko stated, "I was going to ask you the same thing…" Pointing to his headphones, the former space pirate asked, "What's up with that growling? Is that what's got you?"

Uriel's form glows orange and red every moment or so, as if he's overheating like some sort of machinery. He bends his head over and shakes it rapidly. Even though he knows that nothing could shake the monster within him. He sighs heavily, and his anxious and worried eyes look up to this Ryoko person. He needs help. He thought he could do it on his own, but he really can't. Jherrek is hardly worth the help, due to how strict and distracted the other Syn'ya is.

Add defeated to that list of looks for Uriel.

The small violin solo echoes its end with a dramatic last note and Uriel's eye dodge back and forth, as if something is following him. He has never been this afraid, and the kick is, the fear is coming from himself!

~Ry.. Ryoko? I know... I just met you, but I really need some help.~

As he says this, small ethereal horns form above his his temples and by his headphones, swooping backward. Uriel doesn't particularly notice them. Red also tinges his normally orange glowing irises.

Niddhogg, inside of Uriel's head, lets loose a guttural laugh, and the Syn'ya winces again.

Ryoko's golden gaze narrowed slightly as she noticed just how Uriel's body was glowing orange and red as though it were happening in some pulsing pattern. His head shaking and heavy sigh caused her to soon raise her eyebrows a bit as he looked up to her. No, he was definitely not all right… not if the look in his eyes was any indication. She fully appreciated his previous insistence that he was fine, but although she herself was often one to put on a brave face and insist she was okay when she clearly wasn't… sometimes, there was no real way out of something other than reaching out for help.

One might not always like or want to admit to needing it… but when one needed help, it was good to have it.

Noting Uriel's uneasy eyes, Ryoko blinked as he said her name, right before asking for help. Before she could respond though, a pair of non-corporeal horns appeared on his head, soon accompanied by his eyes taking on more of a red coloration… and here, the former space pirate knew that she didn't need to understand what was going on to know that yeah, he could do with some assistance.

"Hey, that's okay… there are stranger ways to meet before working together. I'm not sure what I can do, but…" started Ryoko. Nodding to Uriel, she added,
    "I'll help you."

Uriel looks up to Ryoko with a genuine smile as he stands, his eyes closing for a moment and returning to orange.

~Yeah.. Thanks. I'm not sure what's happening to me. And this is going to sound... Odd. But I have a world-eater trapped within me.~

He rubs the back of his head as if ashamed. His foot bounces in the grass for a moment before it goes still. He doesn't particularly care, per se, but normally he virtually cannot be still. He furrows his brow for just a moment before a burning sensation wracks his entire form. The illusion of his flesh flickers, showing his clockwork skeleton and the flaming orb in the center for a brief moment before Niddhogg's voice echoes not only in his head, but from all around them.

Pitiful pitiful pitiful little angel. Those wings of yours are far too dainty for one accompanying ME.

Uriel's eyes go wide, the red in them bursting forth, streams of what seems like red smoke coming from his orbs. The horns on his head fully materialize, and his orange angel wings appear. The feathers shudder and spasm, seemingly in great pain. The orange cracks away a bit, showing red scales underneath. Uriel coughs and grunts in discomfort, his face locked in permanent confusion.

~What... What are you doing to me?!~

Uriel's radiovoice goes into static, trying to find a song to play, if he needs to fight, but it never comes.

You want to be better? Right? I'll make you so much stronger. We needn't be enemies.

Uriel blinks for a moment, too overwhelmed to understand what Niddhogg was proposing. His halo appears above the horns, faintly falling apart in front of his trembling red and orange eyes.

Post by Space Pirate Ryoko on Mon Dec 30, 2013 4:01 am

Ryoko returned Uriel's smile with a confident smirk of her own, right before nodding to him at his thanks. If he wasn't sure what was happening to him either, she wasn't quite sure how much good she would be able to do here, but she was determined to try her damnedest. Sure, she might have just met him, and quite often, the former space pirate was more than content to just leave some things be that she knew were none of her business and not her problem though. Something about this situation though had her gut instinct telling her that it was best to help him out…

And given more recent cases of people not saying anything when they might have needed help, yeah, she was going to at least try here.

"A world-eater?" Ryoko asked, blinking at his admission that something might sound odd. Yeah, it sounded odd… but only because she wasn't familiar with what a world-eater actually WAS. "What the hell's that?"

As Uriel seemed to concentrate for a moment, Ryoko soon widened her eyes slightly in surprise at seeing the clockwork-like skeleton and central orb of flames beneath the illusion presented outside of that. "Whoa!" She had not been expecting that… nor had she been expecting just what she heard next. There was a deep, booming voice that permeated the very area around them, but what it said… that was even more of a sign of trouble than the tone it took.

Narrowing her gaze, Ryoko quickly realized that this had to be the world-eater he was talking about. She might not have been as sharp as Washu, but something like that popping up after what Uriel told her? What else could it be?

Ryoko kept her guard up, set to activate her Light Hawk Wings in case if things got out of hand around the apparent transformation that was taking place within the Synya. What the… were those red scales underneath his skin?!

No sooner could Uriel ask what was happening than did the supposed world-eater boom his voice again, but as his halo appeared above the new horns on his head before falling over his face, Ryoko aimed a glare at the tips of the horns, not quite sure where to look. This was going far enough.

"Hey, you! I don't know what you're doing to Uriel, but you'd better knock it off right NOW."

    ~Better... stronger? Yes...~

A sudden wave of kinetic energy wracks the area, seeming to increase gravity and flatten the grass around the Syn'ya. Uriel's head bows under the pressure as a song starts. One... not so fitting to his normal taste...

Uriel's angellic wings' feathers burst. Dark red draconic wings draw outwards around him, a similar reptilian tail whips out behind him. The orange ethereal objects scattering to dust in the wind. Above Uriel's head, the horns raise and turn in front of him, floating there.

Yes.... Yessss.... You want that power don't you... Accept it. We could be great allies.

The horns turn around, and the ethereal face of Niddhog appears in front of Ryoko. Its four eyes, nostrils, and mouth glow white-hot with devouring fire. It chuckles a bit at her for a moment and blinks it's sets of eyes. Before wrapping its long neck about the area around her, bringing his head above her to show just how huge this world-eater is.

Stoooop? Stop? Why should I stop, small thing? Uriel very much wants to be stronger... and I'm feeling generous enough now to grant him his wish. Why, pray tell, would I let my vessel weaken?

The pressure about the area increases with each driving hit of the bass drum in the song. Uriel's head starts to bob to the musique. Growling whispers in draconic and common encircle him, promising him strength and power. Uriel's eyelids begin to burn red, and his halo starts to fall into pieces like his wings did. The runes covering his arm and body seem to be burning with some silver light. His brother's work being undone by his own hand. The runes falter, one at a time, as if to the beat of the drums.

    ~Pitiful... pitiful angels... I... Want strength. I'm... I'm so weak...~

Uriel's radiovoice becomes monotone, drolling out words as if hypnotized.

Ryoko narrowed her gaze as Uriel responded to the voice in his head, and she soon kept her stance steady even as the kinetic energy hit the immediate area around them. Barely a moment later, the angelic features quickly changed to dark red draconic ones, right down to the wings, tail, and horns… well that was new. Still, that was nothing compared to what happened next, as the ethereal face of a dragon appeared right in front of her. She didn't recognize him, but based on what was happening here and what Uriel had managed to tell her, she had a very strong feeling that this was the beast that plagued him.

Yeah, he was big all right, but as he wrapped his neck around the area and spoke to her, it sounded like his size wasn't the only thing that he had plenty of. He was full of smugness… that stuck-up, power-hungry attitude made even more apparent with each word he growled around the musique.

"Small thing?" Ryoko asked, scoffing at the form of Niddhog. "You might be a world-eater, but I've destroyed entire colonies… entire planets." Never mind that that was not her choosing, but he didn't need to know that… she was not at all happy for what had happened in her own past when she was under Kagato's control, but if it could help her gain even more of a foothold here, she was set to use it. "He might want to be stronger, but he can get there on his own, as himself, WITHOUT your help. And how strong are you really if you have to be in a vessel? Sounds to me like he's already stronger than you since you're trapped inside of him."

Uriel 's body glows red, Niddhogg taking his agreement as a true agreement and surrounding him in a blaze of fire. A swirling vortex of flame and red aura lightens the area and Uriel stands, his body levitating and his wings coming out as completely draconic. The long tail of a dragon whips out behind the Syn'ya and his armour appears, stripping away and becoming scaled and red. Long spikes appearing on his arms and legs. The whirlwind of heat continues, but the flames die down as he lands.

The form of Niddhogg, all the while, curls around his new vessel and chuckles happily. The great dragon's form slowly going down in size until it's just above the Angel's head. Heat and kinetic energies swirl around him as his feet shuffle. He turns to Ryoko, a great smile on his face and he walks toward her. Each step burning the earth on his trek.

~It seems... I didn't need your help, Ryoko. Thank you anyways.~

Uriel stands for a moment, eyeing Ryoko for a moment before shaking his head. As if he was deciding on whether or not his powers would be suited for now or later. The musique grows louder and he turns on the spot, his new tail whipping around. Fully armoured, he begins his new hunt...

Ryoko watched as Uriel's body glowed red, her own golden gaze narrowing a touch further as she saw Niddhogg move to surround the Syn'ya in a wall of flames. She quickly raised an arm to shield herself from the otherwise ethereal fire, and her eyes soon widened once she saw just what was happening to him. His wings had completely changed… they were now fully scaly and draconic, not unlike the new tail he sported. As though to connect it all, red plates of scaled armor began to form across his frame, accented with spikes at the joints and overall completely changing the appearance of the young man she'd met here.

At catching Niddhogg's chortle, Ryoko suddenly lowered her arm and quickly aimed a glare at him, just before he began to shrink away, his own being nearly nothing next to the vessel he had formed an agreement with. Just… just how much of that had been voluntary? How much had been coerced, and more importantly… what the hell had just happened here?!

As Uriel turned to her, Ryoko blinked at him, the smile across his features belying the feeling she was getting from him. His words… what he just said there… no… that wasn't him… at least, not fully…

Once the newly armored Syn'ya shook his head and turned to make his burning trail away, Ryoko simply watched him for a few moments. Her gaze hardened as she took in this new sight and tried to sort it all out… she wanted to act now, to beat that damned dragon out of Uriel, LITERALLY… but… deep down, she knew she couldn't. Not yet, at least. Growling a little to herself as he walked on, that last statement of his echoed in her head… the one about him not needing her help. … Feh.

    "Sorry Uriel… I think you still do…"
