The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Awakening

Post by Tetra on Wed Jul 17, 2013 6:55 pm

    Time: 3 PM
    Date: 30th August, 2013

She was pretty sure that the saying was that everything went black when you pass out. She should know, she had her fair shares of being knocked out. Each time against her will, of course. After all who would willingly let themselves be knocked out? Not a tough pirate captain, of course not.

You know, the last time she saw another colour out than black when she passed out, she woke up to find her body had been cursed to a statue so this time she better not be cursed again! Statue or not, she’s going to be so pissed off that she’ll find some way or the other and hop that statue over whoever did the cursing - you know, like an Armos would move. If an ARMOS could figure out how to hop as a rock, she could too!

Except there wasn’t going to be any hopping. Oh no. Rather, it was likely she’ll be doing some falling instead.

For unknown to the young pirate captain, she was very far from the Great Sea right now. Very, very far. She was in a park actually, with a small little rowboat lake with its assortment of ducks, swans and geese all paddling along serenely around the new red boat that had splashed landed smack in the middle of it. The occupant of the boat appeared elsewhere, courtesy of portal transport, unconscious and dangling precariously from the end of a tree branch by the back of her sleeveless jacket.

She swayed a little in the breeze and if nothing else woke her up, the motion alone should cause her to stir soon. The last time this happened, Bokoblins and Moblins were carried in by birds called Kargarocs to recapture her. The last time this happened, there was a young hero came to the rescue and helpfully dispatched the enemies before she woke up. The last time this happened, she woke up, fell off the tree branch and landed on her butt - hey, she was disoriented, okay!

What would happen this time round?

For the late summer, the day was effectively perfect… warm, sunny weather without it being unbearably hot, a welcome, gentle breeze and just enough clouds to give the sky an especially nice appearance. Best of all, even if there was a chance of rain, a certain disguised princess no longer had to worry about instantly seeking shelter or bearing the effects of an unfortunate curse.

It had been nearly a week since Zelda and her friends had conquered the temple that held a Great Fairy within it… and not only had they been able to solve and fight their way through a challenging dungeon together, they had finally been able to free themselves from the curses they had been affected by at the start of the summer. The Great Fairy inside had been able to effectively heal them, simultaneously releasing their curses and sealing them into special masks… but whilst the masks were undoubtedly going to prove just as useful in the future as they were a timeless keepsake of the strange event that brought the four Hyruleans even closer together, it was still incredible to know that after three long months, they were all fully back to themselves. They had still truly been themselves the whole time of course, but to know that they would no longer uncontrollably turn into a bear, a rabbit, a pig, and a boy was an incredible feeling.

The disguised princess had only put her mask on a few times since they had all been cured, but today, she was happy to be walking out in the park simply as herself, and completely without the worry of being caught by a rogue splash. Sheik had very fast reflexes of course, but it was still an immense relief to be able to take a hit of cold water and remain a girl. Glancing to the adjacent pond as she strolled past it, Sheik could not help but smile to herself at the thought that disguise or not, she could once more go swimming as herself, right alongside Link and Link as themselves, with Impa not having to worry about turning into a bear either. That thought was very short-lived, though, as she soon blinked in surprise, her red eyes going wide as she saw just what was sitting inside of the pond.

It was a small, red boat… one that she had never seen in person before, but one that was strikingly familiar to the disguised princess. The intricate designs and bright markings meant that this boat could only be the one that belonged to one of her best friends… somehow… some way, the King of Red Lions had ended up on Portal Breach.

As if this surprise was not enough though, Sheik soon perked up as a slight creak of a tree branch caught her attention. Her ears tuned towards the sound, she immediately glanced up to a nearby tree, her red eyes widening further once she saw just what had caused the tree branch to creak so. It was supporting the weight of another… and not just any other…

Much like the boat, Sheik had never seen this person face to face before… but she instantly knew who she was.

If the trademark pirate outfit and stylish updo were not enough to give away the identity of a certain young captain, the sudden surge of a familiar connection that just coursed through her was… hanging by the back of her vest in the tree was none other than the unconscious form of Tetra.

    "Tetra!"

Tetra… the older Link's Princess Zelda. Her very own descendant. A Zelda from the time of the Great Sea.

Sheik gasped at seeing both Tetra herself as well as the way that she was dangling precariously from the tree branch, and despite the very familiar nature of this scene based on Link's first meeting with her, she was able to focus on trying to safely assess the older girl's well-being and try to help her down from the tree.

Steadying herself and trying to keep her racing thoughts from rushing too far ahead of her given the nature of this surprise, Sheik suddenly disappeared, soon reappearing on the thickest part of the branch just below the one that currently held Tetra. She was asleep all right, but thankfully, she appeared to be uninjured. Now came the tricky part of how to help her down… hopefully, this would go far more smoothly than when Link met her back on Outset Island…

There she was dangling there all peacefully and unconscious when she heard her name being called. Her brows scrunched together and the tips of her ears perked a little higher as she registered first the noise then that the noise was her name.

“Nmmgh,” groaned the pirate as she took the slow trip of starting to stir and wake up as unknown to her, her ancestor disappeared and reappeared on the branch below. Literally a second after Sheik arrived on the branch, Tetra groaned again and blearily blinked awake.

“Huh, wha...?” were the first coherent words. Okay, it was bright. What happened again? Oh yes, storm, Big Octo and “GWAH!”

What the?! Why was....the ground was...OH, NOT THIS AGAIN!

“Aa!” What was she dangling from? Can she get free? Okay, it was her jacket. If she could just swing around and maybe she can grab the branch AND free herself at the same time.  “Ungh!” grunted Tetra as she kicked and swung in the air.

Okay, nope, that was a bad idea. She felt the branch move with her swing and it did not feel sturdy AT ALL. She better get off this thing before it snaps and she ends up falling with the branch crashing down on top of her! So she flailed. Even it it ripped her jacket, it was fine. As long as she got free, she can fall down with a roll.... maybe. It was quite high up...

Though her aim was to get off the branch, it was still unexpected to hear a cracking noise behind her as the branch gave way. She was trying to get free but she wasn’t expecting it to come quite this quickly!

    “Huh? AAAAA!”

And the branch broke off, her jacket came off the end of its pointy end and the earth was coming up far too quickly for her to react. Not even to change her fall into a roll like Link would. Hey! She just woke up! She's sharp and quick but not super-hylian.

Tetra appeared to be stirring somewhat by the time that Sheik had appeared on the tree branch just below her, and whilst the disguised princess was very grateful to see that and confirm that her descendant was okay, she did not move to speak to her just yet. After all, given her very precarious position, the last thing that she wanted to do was startle her. From what Sheik had learned from Link, Tetra like herself did not startle easily… but this was still a very different situation, and dangling from a tree branch or not, she was just waking up.

Breathing a silent sigh of relief once Tetra asked what was going on to no one in particular, Sheik froze as soon as she cried out in surprise. She would have to act fast in order to help the pirate captain, but even as she began to edge closer towards the end of the tree branch, that was already proving to be a tricky plan… especially since Tetra began to kick and swing in the air in an attempt to grab her jacket and free herself.

Taking one more quiet step forward, Sheik stopped cold when she heard the branch that held Tetra start to give way… and her red eyes suddenly widened even more the instant that she heard it crack behind her. The loud noise echoed through her head, only interrupted by the confused "Huh?" and subsequent yell from the pirate captain… right before the branch fully broke off, sending the older girl plummeting to the Earth below.

Sheik had even less time to react now, and in less than a split-second, she dove off of her own tree branch, keeping her form streamlined as she tried to catch up to her falling descendant. Managing to have timed that just right, a couple of seconds later, Sheik met Tetra midair, quickly grabbing hold of her behind her shoulders and the back of her knees, right before she performed a Sheikah Vanish. Suddenly disappearing from the height a little below the now broken tree branch, Sheik soon reappeared on the ground below, holding Tetra safely in her arms.

Letting out a sigh of relief, Sheik turned to look to Tetra's face, her red eyes widening slightly as she was now able to focus more on who she had saved instead of the fact that a moment ago, she had needed saving. Now that the pirate captain was not in a risky position, the disguised princess was fully hit with the fact that after all this time, she was finally able to have the same special surprise that Link and Link had both had…

She was able to meet another Zelda. And not just any Zelda… but the very one from the time of one of her best friends. Her heart seemed to slow down as everything that this encounter meant began to bombard her, and whilst her primary focus at the moment was making certain that Tetra was all right, deep down, Sheik could not believe that it was really her. She was happy that she was okay, and even more, despite the more neutral expression she currently wore, on the inside, she was very excited to see her.

Just as she was wondering if she had time enough to at least twist her body so that she land safely on her rump instead of something more snappable like her arm, legs, back or neck. She felt something on her shoulders. The branch? What, it wanted to club her in the head before crushing her?

But before she could do anything more than register the touch, there was a noise that Tetra could only describe as the poof enemies made when they die and leave treasure behind. That didn't make any sense. The branch touched her and poofed into treasure. Even somebody as strong as her entire crew combined can't just poof something into something else on to--

    ....

    uch...

    ...

The pirate captain blinked. O...kay. So instead of falling, she was suddenly NOT and she was being held in the arms of a strange kid with a bandages on his(?) head. The sound of the branch falling to the ground a few steps away broke her short blank confusion, lessening it to be the confused curiosity that only a raised eyebrow and a completely indiscreet and unabashed eye up could portray.

Let's put the pieces together. She was falling then she wasn't and she was now in the arms of some boy recovering from a possible head injury. Which meant the boy didn't just catch her, he saved her - with a questionable ability that she was thankful for but the inklings of doubt are spreading.

She raised her one eyebrow even further up and asked. "Wow. What's with that get-up?"

As Tetra blinked, Sheik kept her focus on her face, glad to soon confirm that despite the way she had appeared in this world, that the older girl was unharmed. She had thought that she might be able to simply disappear to the ground the instant that she had fallen from the tree, setting herself up to catch her, but whilst that would have worked, the disguised princess knew that the Sheikah Vanish she had performed was the safest and quickest means with which to help and catch the pirate captain.. even if it had the potential to later be the most confusing.

Still, from what Sheik had learned about Tetra, she was very clever, and she knew that she would be able to recover from this strange encounter… that much was certain from what Link had shared with her as well as what she herself was positive of deep down. She could feel Tetra's blue gaze on her, no doubt taking in her appearance and trying to figure out just what had happened, and an eyebrow quirk later, Tetra asked a familiar question… one that the disguised princess knew she had once greeted the older Link with.

Unable to suppress the slightest of smiles form behind the cloth over the lower part of her face, Sheik chuckled a bit, right before stating, "It's just a traditional style that my people -- the Sheikah -- wear." Inwardly hoping that Tetra would not think the same of the bandages on her head that Neri once had, the disguised princess, paused before asking, "Are you all right?"

Sheik made certain not to use Tetra's name, for even though she knew it and was 100% positive that this was in fact her descendant, she knew that the use of her name by someone she had not yet met would only serve to add further confusion to this situation. They could exchange names in due time… right now, she wanted to check on the older girl before anything further was said.

It seems the boy was as interested in her as she was in him or it could be that he was concerned. But really, Tetra should be the one concerned. She was just caught by a kid with a bandaged head! Head injuries are pretty nasty things and though the kid was obviously strong since Tetra had yet to feel the arms holding her show any signs of failing to keep the current position, she wouldn't know what would happen in the next few seconds. Maybe the boy would fall over and Tetra will fly out of his arms and into the lake.

"Your people - the Shee-kah?" asked Tetra, the beginnings of a frown starting to form. "Yeah, I'm fine," she answered though obviously distracted by some other thought.

She had travelled quite a lot of the Great Sea now but not once had she heard anything about these Shee-kahs. Wait, you meant the Big Octo had blasted her to a new land that she'd been sailing to discovered? Her frown definitely deepened there, almost scowling at the very idea. Huh, she sailed all this way only for the last leg to be via Big Octo. She's a pirate but this was kind of cheating...

    Big Octo...BIG OCTO!

"The boat!" Tetra turned, trying to spot the boat on the ground around the tree and when that failed to produce a red vessel with no oars in her vision, she peered up at the tree she fell from. Din, don't tell her it's up there and she had to find a way to get it down. She turned back and gave the boy another raised eyebrow.

"You can let me down now." No question mark attached.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Awakening

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Sat Aug 17, 2013 8:25 pm

Speed might have been Sheik's forte, but even though she was not quite as strong as either Link or Link, she was still very strong in her own right. She knew that she could hold Tetra like this for quite some time before her arms might tire out, but aside from her wanting to check on the pirate captain, another part of her was not able to think about setting her just yet, namely because on the inside, she was still that stunned that of all people for her to stumble across in the park, she had run into the Zelda from the older Link's world.

Sheik nodded at Tetra's question, right before smiling a bit at her verification that she was in fact fine. The older girl might have been seemingly distracted by the very understandable number of thoughts and questions swirling through her head, but even with that, the disguised princess was just glad to see that she was all right. "That's a relief. I can't imagine landing in a tree is very comfortable."

Not failing to catch Tetra's expression shifting from quizzical to something close to an outright scowl, Sheik suddenly stood up a little straighter at her descendant's exclamation. As the pirate captain glanced around to try and spot the King of Red Lions, Sheik waited a moment before speaking up, stating, "Boat? Well, there are plenty of boats in the small lake behind us… maybe it's in there?" There was a boat that the pirate captain should know floating there after all… although if she meant her own, grand pirate ship, the older girl was going to be in for a less than pleasant surprise…

A moment later though, Tetra turned to glance back up at her, raising another eyebrow. At the older girl's next statement, Sheik jolted almost imperceptibly, widening her red eyes before chuckling a little sheepishly. "Ah, sorry about that… here."

At that, Sheik very carefully moved to set Tetra's feet on the ground, making sure that she was steady as she let go of the other girl. Blinking at her as she herself stood back to her full height, Sheik subtly looked the pirate captain up and down for a moment. She really did look just the way that Link had described her… but even though she had seen a couple of pictographs of her and several historical sketches of her in some of Impa's books, the disguised princess was still unable to believe that Tetra was really here. It was beyond amazing, and definitely a very nice surprise that quite possibly topped the one that the four of them had found earlier in the week when they had been cured from their curses. Possibly? … No, it was definitely more incredible than even that happy event. Tetra was all right… and she was finally here!

Whilst Sheik was already curious as to exactly which point in the future she was from, she knew that it was best not to leave the older girl hanging for too long. As such, a couple of moments after she got her footing right again, the disguised princess asked, "I know you were up in that tree, but did you just arrive here?"

Tetra snorted at the idea of landing in a tree being comfortable. Well, maybe if they landed in the soft leaves of the Deku Tree in Forest Haven but this hardly looked like that firefly decorated enclosed island. In fact, there were aspects of this place as being cared for or made to look like this. Huh, well this wasn't NEW land, just new to her! Darn it, somebody discovered this plot of the world before she did: these Shee-kah people. Humph, well she'll just have a better excuse to keep sailing.

Her curiosity was piqued as the boy said there were plenty of boats. Fantastic! They were at a harbour or port... or not. She peeked around the boy's shoulder and her face dropped. That's tiny and that's a lake, very far from the grand expanse of sea she was used to seeing. And the King of Red Lions was smack in the middle of it. Well, Tetra suppose it was easier to lug the boat out of the water than it was out of a tree.

As the strange boy set her down, Tetra stretched her legs and wriggled her toes in her sandals, glad to be back on her feet and in full control again. She patted the back of her jacket, happy to find it didn't tear.

"Yeah. I'm a Hylian, have you heard of those here?" she asked as she patted various parts of her body both to dust herself off and also to ensure all her items was here. Pirate's Charm was still here, her cutlass, yep, maps, rupees etc.

When she finished, the young captain looked at the King of Red Lions before she swept her eyes back to the boy in front of her in the strange garb. The boat was safe for now, what was more important was finding out where she was right now and work out how far away from her ship she had flown.

"Well, whatever. So, where am I...?"

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Awakening

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Sat Aug 17, 2013 9:27 pm

Sheik was glad that Tetra seemed to like her joke about landing in a tree being comfortable. On second thought, she supposed that some of the trees in the Lost Woods would not be too bad to land in, but to get caught by the branch of one even if it was just on ones clothing? Casting that thought aside, Sheik was just glad that Tetra had been just as all right from this second chance of that happening as she had the first time. At least this time she had managed to avoid landing on her rear end.

Watching Tetra as the older girl stretched and got her bearings back, Sheik smiled a little at catching that from this angle as well, she was indeed in one piece. Even though she was very careful not to stare, the disguised princess did make sure to catch a good look at the pirate captain's face… and although there were a good number of differences that distinguished the two girls as separate individuals, Sheik could not help but marvel at just how… SIMILAR the two of them looked to each other.

It was much the same way that Link and Link resembled each other. Without a doubt they were two completely different boys, but even with their different features, they still bore an uncanny resemblance to each other. For Sheik, it was not exactly like looking at a mirror, but it was incredibly close to that… and that stood regardless of the fact that both of them were currently dressed as their alternate identities. The look in her eyes alone was what struck the disguised princess the most, and it seemed that with each passing second, she was able to tell more and more that yes… she was another Zelda… she was the one that shared the same spirit she held.

    Oh Nayru was this amazing…

Nodding to Tetra at her question, Sheik stated, "I have, yes. If you're a Hylian though… then that means that you and I are from the same world. You might not have met one yet, but traditionally, the Sheikah had a strong alliance with the Hylians."

Sheik was very aware that in her answer meant to help Tetra connect more information about her arrival here, that she herself had given away that this world was not Hyrule or the Great Sea. She knew that her descendant was quite clever though, and as such could probably already tell that she was not in a familiar world… Central Park was hardly anything like the Great Sea or the World of the Ocean King, after all. That clue coupled with Tetra's own wit soon led to her asking just where she was though, and here… Sheik simply hoped that she would be able to convey the news to the older girl without too much trouble.

"You're in Central Park, inside of Portal City. It's the capital of this world… a world known as Portal Breach," explained Sheik, gesturing to the side before lowering her arm. Still keeping her gaze on Tetra, she paused for a couple of moments before adding, "If you're a Hylian though… I'm afraid it's a long way from where you came from."

Tetra's feet tapped the floor, rather glad that she did not fall on it. The first time she fell from a tree, she fell on grass. This was pavement.... hm, this place looked stranger the more she looked at it. The boats look weird and a completely different kind of fancy, there were blocks of towers looming in the distance and - Tetra's ears perked up - some sounds that were rather unfamiliar but she can't concentrate on it right now because a more important matter was at hand.

So the boy have met Hylians before. Well, that just ruined her expectations even more. So not only was this no longer undiscovered land but also Hylian-discovered already? Not only that but Hylian-discovered long enough for them to traditionally have a strong alliance with the Shee-kah people. Eh, with how it looks right now, she probably didn't want it to be the new Hyrule anyway. It all looked very.... unfamiliar.

Tetra nodded to the boy's words then her eyes narrowed. Did he say 'world'? Yes, he did. He knew he did and she knew he did. The captain looked around again. Even though the World of the Ocean King had slightly different appearances and inventions, it had looked nothing like this so either they had a giant renovation, she had skipped into a different time of the world or this was a new world entirely.

She crossed her arms and frowned as she thought.

Then there was another tidbit. The boy had said they were from the same world. Which meant there was indeed an island out there with Shee-kah's running around with Hylians. Urgh, she hoped they didn't discover too many islands! That made her job of finding a new Hyrule a lot more limited in search range. Though what kind of treasures they might have would be interesting.

Her first puzzle was soon answer. This world was Portal Breach, this was Portal CITY and this was a park in it. Hmm, well that's not the first time. She had been to another world before and managed to get back. This time shouldn't be any different.

CITY though?! Right, so it's a very big town. Tetra flicked her eyes to the boat, hoping it wouldn't mean she'll have to carry that thing for more than a few streets. She was strong for a girl her age but not that strong. She also wasn't sure if it was safe to enlist the help of this boy yet. One, because she only just met him and this was a brand new world and two, because...well, he's obviously hurt and recovering, strong enough to save her or not, she wouldn't want him to collapse en route to the sea and she'll have to make a detour to return the favour and save him. Whilst she wasn't sure if she could rely on his strength, she could at least rely on his information - for as long as it proves kinda true.

She nodded towards the King of Red Lions. "Is it safe there while I move around this world and try and find a way back or until I can find a better way to move it to a new place?"

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Awakening

Admittedly, Sheik felt a little bad that she had to keep from letting on that she knew as much as she did… it was one thing to recognize where another was from, as had been the case when she had first arrived and met Lawrence. However, it was completely different to encounter someone that she knew very well on various levels -- both from tales from Link as well as from their own shared spirit -- and not give away that not only did she know where she was from, but also that she knew exactly who she was.

The disguised princess was used to acting as a Sheikah, but it was a little amusing to her that Tetra had outright mentioned their own species so. Given the way she was talking, it sounded as though the pirate captain might just be from the time after her and Link's first quest, when they were searching for a place to call New Hyrule… she could not be fully certain just yet though, although she was willing to start trusting her instincts on that guess.

As Tetra crossed her arms and began to think over her responses, Sheik regarded her carefully, getting the sense that her initial explanation had gone over well enough. Hopefully, that would help with answering the other inevitable questions to come… especially since she herself knew all too well from experience that some of what had to be going through her descendant's mind were not easy things to answer. Such was the way of the Breach… but at least here, she had wound up in the spot where she would be able to reunite with Link and meet Impa, the younger Link, and herself as well. She might have only known one of them thus far, but the disguised princess hoped that the presence of a full Hyrulean family would help the older girl adapt even easier than she normally might have.

Sheik perked up a bit at Tetra's question regarding leaving the boat where it was for now, inwardly feeling a surge of pride at the idea of leaving the King of Red Lions in a spot until they could find better one for the boat. Given the way that the small craft was not talking, the disguised princess was increasingly certain that the older girl had in fact come from a time after Ganon had been defeated again… if that was the case, then she might very well line up with Link's age, quite possibly even to the same degree that she and her own Link had upon her arrival. That thought made her smile a bit, however, that soon faded.

When Tetra mentioned finding a way back… Sheik's heart fell. She might have landed in the chance to reunite Link as well as meet the family he had made here in the three from Hyrule's past, but that would not erase the pain of learning that her world had been destroyed from that point in time. Deciding to hold off on informing her about the fate of her world until the time was right, Sheik turned around to look at the boat, red eyes bright with awe at getting a better glance at it before she blinked back to a regular expression.

Shifting her focus back to the older girl, Sheik nodded to Tetra, stating, "Yes… the boat will be safe there. I know you just landed here, but would you like for me to show you to a good place to get some information? It could help you get set before you have the chance to move the boat."

Information was just one thing that the Stock Pot Inn could bring for the pirate captain…far more than that, it could bring her a cozy place to stay and a reunion with her best friend. As excited as Sheik was to see that Tetra had arrived here, she could hardly wait to see Link's reaction once he saw that the Zelda from his own time was in the world now.

Tetra turned to regard the boat again the same time the boy did. She didn’t like leaving it there unguarded but surely a few hours is fine. It can’t possibly be hauled away that quick and even if it was, it looked remarkably bright and different from the other boats that it shouldn’t be too hard to track provided she did it quick enough after its disappearance.

Then the boy’s attention snapped back to herself and she him, eyebrow raised once again at the offer of getting information elsewhere with her. She eyed the boy up and down again then pointed at the bandages. “I’m fine with that as long as you’re not going to fall over unconscious midway. In fact, it might just be better for you to just give me the directions.”

The latter would be much more preferable. Not only did she not know this boy but also because it gave her a lot more freedom. If she decided she would be wandering too far, she could still, at her leisure, run back here to properly secure the boat or if night fell, swim and climb onto it to stay for the night.

Another glance up the tree placed another wary thought into her mind. The boy had through some magic literally poofed her out of the air and to the ground. If he was of malicious intent, wouldn’t following him mean that once they were in a less public area, he could disappear her somewhere and she wouldn’t be able to get back? Oh no, she was NOT going to be trapped, cursed or held prisoner again. She knew nothing about Shee-kahs, nothing about this world and not even if the boy was telling the truth.

...Yet, there was something about this boy that was stirring an odd kind of feeling from her; a strange intuition to at least hear him out and just maybe… trust him? Tetra wasn’t sure why but it was just a niggling feeling and she could squash niggling feelings with survival instincts - unlike a certain green hat boy who owns a boat with no oars who is also far too trusting of complete strangers.

Maybe it was because this bandaged boy was the first person she met here or just her own curiosity as a wandering pirate wanting to learn more about this place (and its treasures). Whatever it was, Tetra decided the choice of following him might not be that bad. If worse comes worse, she can just light arrow him and run. He was injured, surely he can’t be that hard to overpower. Who knows, maybe she could show off her extensive knowledge of knots and then question him for information - which tends to be a lot easier if you had a plank and a sea of gyorgs and explosive barrels at your disposal.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Awakening

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Wed Aug 21, 2013 6:40 pm

Sheik had a strong feeling that Tetra was not especially enthused about the prospect of leaving the King of Red Lions. She might not have known the boat as well as the pirate captain and Hero of Winds did, but she did know how special it was to the two of them. Even without it having been in control of Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule, it was still something they both treasured from their great quest... and as much as the disguised princess wanted to offer to help her carry the boat, she knew that until they had something better to carry it on, it really was safest in the small lake. Thankfully, her descendant seemed to be fine with this prospect for the time being... and that alone gave the taller girl another slight smile. After all, finding that his boat was here as well as one of his best friends was going to be a second amazing suprise for the older Link.

Once Tetra looked back to her, Sheik stood still at catching the older girl's raised eyebrow, soon catching that she had shifted from pondering her idea to eyeing her up and down. The disguised princess was glad to hear that Tetra was fine with her leading the way to the inn, although she did blink in confusion at her mention of her not falling over unconscious.

"Why would I... oh," started Sheik, right before she caught just where Tetra was pointing. "The bandages." Unable to suppress a short laugh as she was reminded of when she had first arrived at the Stock Pot Inn just shy of two years ago, the disguised princess soon found herself wondering if this mistaking the purpose of the bandages was something trademark from that future of Hyrule, or if it was perhaps an early indication of the connection Tetra undoubtedly shared with Neri. Either way, she was highly amused, and hoped that her descendant would be just as easily convince that she was all right as Link was back when she had first met the Hero of Winds.

Sheik smiled and shook her head slightly, pointing to the cloth bandages on her head, stating, "I appreciate the concern, but I'm not injured. These are actually just a part of my outfit. See?" At that, the disguised princess carefully lifted the wrapped bandages off the top of her head, keeping them in their shape as she did so. Her pointed ears now fully visible, Sheik tilted her head downward and moved to lean forward a little, giving the shorter girl a better look at the top of her head the same way that she had done for Link back when he had expressed his own worry over the exact same misperception. "They might seem a little odd, but they're traditional for young Sheikah to wear… that, and they actually help heighten my sense of hearing even more."

She held that position leaning over for a few moments before standing back up straight, placing the wrapped bandages right where they'd been before. As Sheik started to lower her arms though, she caught the edges of the cloth that covered the lower part of her face, soon pulling it down so that it rested around her neck instead. The disguised princess was very aware of the risk of doing so before Tetra had the chance to learn her true identity, but she had a strong feeling that given the nature of her descendant, she might be even more inclined to trust her if she could get a good look at the rest of her face.

Sheik did already want to tell Tetra who she really was of course, but with her having just arrived here, it was definitely going to work out the best for both of them for her to reunite her with Link first, let her adjust to the world, and then build up to the proper time for her own reveal. Admittedly, Sheik felt a little guilty for that, possibly even more than she had for the future Link, but given the pirate captain's own alternate identity, she was certain that she would understand fully once the time came.

For now though, Sheik simply smiled a little more to Tetra now that her face was fully visible, right before adding, "I promise that I can lead the way without falling unconscious."

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Tetra's Awakening

Post by Tetra on Wed Aug 21, 2013 7:17 pm

If Tetra's eyebrow could go higher, it would as shortly after her question, the boy looked confused followed by laughter. What, did he forgot he was hurt? Was the laughter a kind of mood swing thing that came with the injury? Should she back away? Farore, no! She was a pirate and a captain. Back away from crazy people? No. She'll just shove him in the lake if he started something.

Thankfully, they arrived to the answer of the laughter soon enough. It turned out this was a misunderstanding! Huh, bandages as part of the outfit? Well, she'd seen weirder - tight green bodysuit weirder. As the boy lifted the bandages off like a hat, Tetra's eye immediately fell on the tips of the pointed ears now exposed for all the eyes to see. But wait, he had said he was a Shee-kah, not a Hylian. So.... Shee-kahs are similar to Hylians? Where and what was the difference? Apart from  clothing differences.

"Training to help heighten your sense of hearing?" echoed this disguised princess. Hmm, there was a thought. Maybe she could order Niko to wear his bandanna over his ears and over time, he could actually hear and follow orders properly.

And his hair wasn't all the boy was showing her. The captain's eyes widened as he started pulling down that mouth covering collar of his. She glanced to the left then the right, half expecting to see something or somebody pounce out to stop the action. Was it normal for traditional outfits to be removed this easily in front of strangers? When nothing happened, she stepped forward, eyes squinted as she realised the boy was taller than her and concluded that this was this strange boy's way of trying to earn her trust.

"Hmm," sounded Tetra as another ounce of suspicion heaped onto the small pile she had already. She wasn't sure why this boy wanted her trust enough to start removing parts of his outfit which were obviously there for a reason but if he was going to that extent, Tetra was willing to play along for now out of curiosity.

She regarded the one perfectly visible side of the boy's face then without a word, reached up with one hand and pushed the dangling bangs from the hidden side of the face. If you're going to show your face then you're showing all of it to her.

Her brows furrowed at what she saw. Okay, she was saved by a pretty looking boy of decent strength. But that wasn't the part making her frown. Something about this face, she didn't know what it was but it was curious and some part of her was telling her she can trust this face.

With another hum, she let the boy's hair fall back and she stepped away. One hand on her hip, she glanced back at the King of Red Lions one more time before she nodded to the boy. "I'll follow you. For now."
