Impa growled softly at Ciela's trailing off, soon shifting her attention back to her three transformed charges. It was an unfortunate predicament to say the least, but even with as strange and unexpected as the four curses had been, they were at least still themselves on the inside, and they were well within the realm of reversing this. Whether they were able to cure themselves before they returned to Neri or not, hopefully, the less than permanent here would help ease the Spirit of Wisdom's mind at least somewhat.

Nodding in agreement with Ciela, Tatl, and Sheik, Impa knew that it was going to be a little tough to tell Neri what all had transpired, but being honest with her from the start was going to be their best course of action. Each of the Hyruleans was rather forthright to very solid degrees, and no matter they situation, forging ahead was typically the way that they tackled anything regardless as to the amount of planning that occurred. Although Neri was quite the worrywart, she was still the Spirit of Wisdom, and the transformed Sage of Shadow knew that she would be able to handle the news for all of them.

As Sheik knelt down to add his own show of support to what Link and Link had already displayed, Impa could not help but smile softly at the three friends. She knew that all three of them could contend with this, no matter how long they wound up being cursed, and the promises that they all made each other here simply served as proof of that. They could each handle this… and together, they could handle it even better.

Readjusting her paw on Sheik's shoulder, Impa nodded strongly to her three charges to signify that she was there to help each of them through this strange turn of events. Growling slightly as she moved to claw out a new message on the digiglass, she soon turned it around to display her latest message. "We will all make it through this together. I know you three can conquer anything, and I will do everything I can to help as well."

No sooner had the three got to see that text and respond to it than had Leaf finally caught up a little more as to what had happened to Sheik. His circuitous logic had appeared once more in full force, and right as he had sorted everything out for himself… his outspoken bluntness was expressed in the form of a question that even made Impa's eyes widen slightly. "Grrr!" To her, the answer was very obvious given the fact that all four of them had very clearly transformed into these new forms, but even though the concern was valid, the wild openness of the question was impressive even for the Spirit of Power. Impa supposed that someone changing into the opposite sex was different from transforming into an animal, but even so…

"Rrrr…" In short order, Impa found that Leaf had darted behind her, no doubt trying to hide from the very possible wrath of Ciela and Tatl. She glanced behind her at the red fairy, sighing silently as she shifted her focus back to Sheik, making sure to keep a steady grip on his shoulder until he shifted into a sitting position. Growling softly in sympathy, Impa hoped that he would not be too thrown off from this… or at least not for too long. Even with his poorly phrased question, Impa was not mad at Leaf, although she did wish that this exchange would prove to be a valuable lesson for him. The chance was slim, but he was still quick to learn various things.

After Tatl's quick jumping on Leaf and Sheik's subsequent reply, Impa nodded firmly at his last line to show her own steadfast agreement. Princess or prince, girl or boy, she was still Zelda. "Grrr…" Each of them was still themselves, and no matter what, they would return to their true selves. These curses were odd, but they were not the worst thing that any of them had faced. They would triumph over them, and as far as the Sheikah-turned-bear was concerned, she was positive that they would all emerge even stronger and closer for it.

Leaf cannot see Tatl’s death glare. Oh no, he had awesome bear Impa between it and himself. Not to mention you can’t exactly see eyes on a fairy... He felt it alright though and his wings shivered once before he squawked as Tatl flew round to join him behind Impa.

“AH!” the red fairy jumped and furiously beat his wings to put some distance between himself and his Terminian friend. For a second, he actually wondered if in fact the safest place to fly to right now might be behind Ciela. Surely if Tatl was having a go at him already, the Spirit of Courage would be less inclined to wallop him with a hammer? Or maybe under Link’s hat.  “Okay, okay, it was a lame excuse. I’m sorry! I just wanted to know, is all!”

Then Leaf yelped as rather than himself flying behind Ciela, the fairy had snuck up behind him and had caught hold of both upper tips of his wings. “I’m not even going to bother dealing with you,” grumbled the yellow spirit. “You can just hear it from Neri later. Hopefully that should teach you to stop and think before you spit out your thoughts.”

With a twinkling of wings and flying far too fast for Leaf to even register what Ciela was doing, the Spirit of Courage swooped round and down. She dangled Leaf down in front of Sheik’s face. “Apologise,” commanded the fairy with tone that suggested absolute obedience and no otherwise.

Leaf’s glow dimmed and he took a deep breath before looking the boy squarely in the eye. “I’m sorry.”

Ciela shook him by the wing and Leaf glanced once at Tatl then Impa. He turned to the floor. “I’m a dingbat - whatever that is....”

“Hgggk!” was the barely suppressed snort from their piglet companion. The fairies turned to Link only to find the piglet starting before, look left and right then tried his very best to pull a blank expression. Him? No he didn’t do anything. Didn’t say anything. Didn’t make any noises. Nope. None at all...

Then another barely suppressed snort came out and Link gave up. The piglet burst into snuffling chuckles.

“THIS TIME ONLY! I’m not always a dingbat! I don’t ding and I’m not a bat!”

Link laughed a bit more, both in amusement at the Spirit of Power’s words, at the unbelievableness of this whole event and at himself. Pig laughs are so weird! Or at least it’s weird to hear it coming from his own mouth.

As the chuckles died down, he trotted forward, glanced at Sheik, blushed brightly before he literally shook it off and flicked his gaze to Impa. With one last grunt, he closed the distance between himself and Sheik’s knee. The piglet innkeeper butt his best friend’s knee lightly, pat it a few times with his left hoof them turned around and walked a few steps before turning his head.

Whatever it was that was ahead of them, staying here wasn’t going to start it off. And if this was indeed the site to be to un-curse themselves, they were still too unused to their current forms to risk venturing into anything dangerous. Shall they start heading home?

Whilst he was not exactly sure of what could be said to help make breaking this news to Neri any easier, Link was fully confident that between each of them, they could figure something out well before they returned to the inn… and that stood whether they were able to change back to their true selves before that time or not. As for Tatl, she was just as confident and possibly even more determined to sort it all out.

Glancing up to Impa at her firm nod to each of them, Link smiled a little to the Sheikah-turned-bear, right before that slight smile grew somewhat at catching her written text. He nodded back to her, simply saying, "Thanks Impa." He already knew that they would make it through this strange challenge… but to feel how they were already bonding together over it, the Hero of Time could not help but feel that special warmth within him that he had long since come to know as the sense of how close their family was. That combined with their own Hyrulean determination was sure to see them through this, no matter how long it took.

"Lame is an UNDERSTATEMENT!" Tatl fumed, immediately closing the distance between Leaf and herself once more. "It was obvious! You could have figured it out for yourself if you had just stopped to think for even a second first!" And with absolutely perfect timing, Ciela soon completed the fairy sandwich of the cornered Leaf, catching the Spirit of Power unaware just as deftly as she caught the upper tips of his wings. With a final huff, Tatl fixed Leaf with one more glare as the Spirit of Courage grumbled to him, right before she bolted off towards the now sitting Sheik.

Link was a little embarrassed for Sheik at Leaf's blurted out question, but even as he tried to keep his mind from focusing even more on what exactly her… his own curse meant for her with regards to changes to his body, he was still impressed with how well the disguised princess-turned-prince was handling all of this. He was not surprised given Sheik's nature, but still… it was incredible to see that even with something as unpredictable and strange as these transformations, that he was keeping his surprise in check from the initial discovery, and that he was saving face at the Spirit of Power's latest question.

He returned Sheik's grateful nod with a sheepish one of his own, right as Ciela appeared with Leaf. Link had no doubt that even if the Spirit of Courage had not ordered him to apologize, he still would have, but he was still a touched by the sincerity evident in the red fairy's tone. He glanced from the fairies to Sheik for a moment, right before he caught Leaf's quiet admission… and whilst Tatl was immensely satisfied with the fact that he had finally agreed that he was a dingbat, Link could not help but share in the amusement of his older nametwin.

The Hero of Time managed to stifle his own short laugh, right before his chuckles began to echo those of his friend. It was still a little strange to hear the snuffles and snorts of a pig coming from the older Link instead of his familiar voice, but as Sheik had said, the important thing was that they were each still themselves.

"It's not just this time only, but at least you can admit it for once," stated Tatl, chiming slightly as she exchanged a glance with Ciela. And even with the remarks of certain dingbats, at least things seemed to have calmed down for now… "Anyways, let's get out of here. You guys aren't going to change back just sitting here, and we shouldn't be out too much later unless if we want to worry Neri any more than she's already going to be."

"Yeah… that's a good idea," agreed Link, nodding to Tatl. "We can try the Song of Healing once we're out of this clearing." They probably could try it now, but a small part of him would have rather waited until they were at least past these mysterious springs. He supposed it didn't really make a difference, but whether the song worked or not, it was probably good to go ahead and continue forward.

Smiling to himself as he caught the older Link's comforting display to Sheik, Link carefully stepped forward and placed a paw on his best friend's other knee. Exchanging a nod with the disguised princess-turned-prince, he soon moved a bit closer to the Hero of Winds, glancing off past the clearing through the trees. They might as well start heading back at least part of the way… and hopefully, they might find a way to cure themselves whilst they were returning home. He sincerely hoped so, at least…

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Sat Aug 17, 2013 12:34 pm

Several moments after Sheik reached out to both Link and Link from his kneeling position, he soon felt Impa's paw adjust its place on his shoulder. Glancing around to his guardian-turned-bear, he soon saw the newest message she had written on the Hero of Winds' digiglass, and despite the oddness of their current situation, he could not help but smile further. Nodding to her, Sheik said, "You're right, Impa… we will, and… thank you. The three of us will do everything for you as well." He knew that his guardian could handle anything, but that was a promise that Sheik fully intended to keep.

From the support that the four had just shared with each other to the additional comfort offered from Impa's growl now that he was sitting, and the gestures of both Link and Link once Leaf had asked his very unexpected question, Sheik soon nodded very slightly to each of them. He knew that Leaf had not meant anything untoward by his blunt question, but the phrasing of it coupled with the direction it sent his thoughts in did make him feel quite a bit more shy at the moment. As he tried to will the rest of his blush away, he soon glanced up to see that Ciela had not only caught Leaf by the upper tips of his wings, but that she had brought him over and around so that he was now being held right in front of his face. At the Spirit of Courage's command and the Spirit of Power's subsequent apology, the disguised princess-turned-prince simply looked back to him, right before a slight smile returned to his features.

"Thanks, Leaf… it's all right," said Sheik. He had a very strong feeling that even if Ciela had not caught him so, that Leaf would have come to apologize on his own, but he still appreciated the words and their true sincerity nonetheless.

That slight smile soon shifted into something of a sympathetic expression though once Leaf quietly admitted that he was a dingbat. As both Link and Link took from their surprise to start to laugh some though, Sheik's smile just grew in amusement, before he finally laughed somewhat at the red fairy's next exclamation. Oh Leaf… "It's okay, Leaf… dingbat or not, I know you didn't mean it."

Sheik nodded at Tatl's suggestion that they all continue on now that this turn of events had more or less settled, right before glancing to Link at his voiced idea. He was fine to try and play the song before they left the clearing, but perhaps it would be good for them to make at least a little more progress before he tried that. Nodding to his best friend, the disguised princess-turned-prince said, "Of course. I'm not sure if it will work, but I will certainly try my best."

At that, Sheik soon smiled a bit deeper at the older Link at his affectionate headbutt and patting of his knee, right before he turned that same smile to the younger Link. Nodding strongly to both of them to show that he was and would be fine, he soon moved to stand back up, feeling quite a bit more confident in his new form as he did so. Sharing a meaningful look and nod with Impa, Sheik soon moved to start walking towards the edge of the clearing, making sure to take care to watch his step as they weaved around the numerous springs.

As he continued on, Sheik soon confirmed that his initial perception was right… this wasn't bad at all. It was a little different, that much was for certain… but not bad. Girl or boy, he was still himself, and he was going to do everything he could to help all four of them find a way out of this.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Impa on Sat Aug 17, 2013 2:55 pm

Impa knew very well that there was nothing she could do for Leaf here, but hopefully, between his own realization of his badly phrased question and the subsequent scoldings from Tatl and Ciela, he would be able to work his way past this complete with a well-learned lesson. Even before the Spirit of Courage had caught him by the upper edges of his wings, the Sage of Shadow had figured that it was only a matter of time before he would move to apologize to Sheik… and even though his apology was short and simple, the sincerity in those two words was very clear.

The apology did seem to help Sheik even more, and once Leaf glanced to Tatl and herself, Impa looked to the red fairy with a meaningful expression. Even though the fairies themselves had not been cursed, she was already getting a strong feeling that through her, Zelda, Link, and Link's own quest to contend with and cure these curses, that the four fairies would also experience some growth, both as themselves as well as in the bond that they shared with them. Exactly how they would grow stronger and closer from this was yet to be seen of course, but for Tatl, Ciela, Leaf, and Neri, Impa was positive that they too would benefit from the four of them working through their strange situation.

As Leaf admitted to being a dingbat, Impa just looked to him, already feeling that without him realizing it, that the Spirit of Power had not only learned a lesson, but that he himself was already starting to grow from this.

Smiling slightly as Link and Link began to laugh, Impa soon growled in amusement at the red fairy's next exclamation. Nodding in agreement with Sheik's words to him, the Sheikah-turned-bear soon glanced to Tatl at her suggestion. It was almost as though she had read the Sage's mind regarding them moving on once that had been resolved, and inwardly, Impa was grateful that she had already voiced it, especially since she herself was presently unable to speak.

"Grr," Impa growled gratefully, nodding to the Terminian fairy as she erased the message she had previously written on the digiglass. Moving to write another as Link and Sheik mentioned trying the Song of Healing once they had got past this new area, she soon turned the green text around for the others to see. "Thank you, Tatl. Link, Link, Sheik… do be sure to take extra care as we are still getting used to these new forms."

With a strong nod to each of them and a short glance to the older Link, Impa gave him a look that seemed to silently ask if she could hold onto the digiglass for now. Only once he responded did she nod once more to him, soon sliding the tablet into her own Hyrulean storage space for the time being. She knew that he had not minded her using it, but all the same, she was still immensely grateful for his assistance.

Glancing to her forepaws for a few moments, Impa soon let out a heavy sigh before pressing forward, still walking upright for the time being. As a bear, she knew that moving as a quadruped would undoubtedly be very easy, but as it was, she wanted to get sturdy on just her hind legs for the time being. Her steps were a little different given the relatively shorter length of her legs, but she still had a strong foundation with her large hind paws, so thankfully, whilst she made sure to be careful, walking was not proving to be difficult yet. Impa made sure to keep an eye on her three charges as they continued on, all the while studying this area so that she could later safely seal it off. They might have accidentally fallen into the springs, but hopefully, this would be the primary extent of their cursing effects.

Leaf puffed. It was SO this time only but he wasn't going to argue. Not that he was afraid! Oh no, not that at all! Definitely not that.... okay, he wasn't afraid of Tatl. He just didn't want to be hammered by Ciela, or worse, the Spirit of Courage and Time to pass the hammer to the Terminian fairy. That is very uncool especially in front of Impa.

So Leaf sulked and stayed silent on the spot before softening a few moments later to dull his glow. He shooked his wings out of Ciela's grasp, moved in and with a bit of hesitance, pecked the princess-turned-prince quickly on the cheek. He mumbled another apology then swooped down to plonk on Link's hat.

The piglet took a look around and nodded at Link's, Zelda's and Impa's words. Yes, it was better to try the Song of Healing once they get to a safer location. This place was still new and who knew what else might lurk here apart from cursed pools. What if something else was pulled into with the location and haven't woken up yet? They had stayed here long enough, even moving away from this place they had to stay alert as they're not used to these forms yet. Better move along and start their way back.

Back.... Link looked down at his hooves. This was going to take some getting use to and probably a while since getting home was going to take a lot more steps with these legs. He looked up again to catch Impa's look. For second, the piglet tilted his head, baffled before his eyes drifted down to the digiglass in their bear-guardian's paws. Oh! Link nodded several times. It would be of better use in Impa's ha--er paws right now that it was in his hooves. He could just scrape his words into the floor with his hoof and whilst Impa could do the same with her claws, it would require her to bend over to achieve the same thing. Link also had a feeling that if he put it away in his storage space, getting it back out would be a tiny bit tricky with his shorter limbs and hooves.

Impa's heavy sigh, the transformed innkeeper blinked then his eyes widened slightly as she started forward - on two legs. He could feel Leaf's wings starting to perk up even through the fabric of his hat and even Link had to take a moment to stare.

He wasn't sure how long a bear could walk on two legs for but Impa was surely making it look impressive, strong and intimidating especially from his much lower point of view.  After watching a few steps and making sure Sheik and Link were also okay (and that the latter could walk or move without trouble), the piglet grinned, turned and they made their way towards the trees.

Once they were an presumably safe distance away, he turned back around and sat down, patiently waiting as Impa sealed the area.

Tatl chimed a bit in pride once Leaf moved to very swiftly peck Sheik on the cheek. To the Terminian fairy, that action alone was even more meaningful than his heartfelt apologies, and she sincerely hoped that it was in fact a sign of him having learned his lesson here. He was lucky that the princess-turned-prince was so forgiving, and maybe… just maybe, that stupid mistake of his could be a step to him growing more in the future. That chance stood regardless as to how long Link, Sheik, Link, and Impa were cursed for.

Returning Sheik's nod and smile, Link watched as the girl-turned-boy moved to stand back up. He sighed a little himself at once more seeing just how small he was in comparison, right before he looked to the green text that Impa had presented to each of them. "I will, Impa… and… you too."

The Hero of Time was sure that the Sage of Shadow would be able to adapt to her own new form just fine, and he was determined to do his best as well… so with a glance down to his front paws, thus began his own curiosity as to just how he was supposed to move in this body if he was to try walking somewhere. Rather, should he try to move on all fours or… hop on just his hind legs?

He turned to look down at his feet, studying them for a few moments before he decided that he would try hopping upright only once they were past this clearing full of cursed springs. For now… he decided to carefully set his front paws on the ground, and try to move on all fours. After all, if the older Link could do it in his own cursed form, then so could he.

Watching in awe as Impa took a few steps forward, Link glanced over to his older nametwin, returning his smile before nodding to him. He was going to be all right… they ALL were.

Taking a deep breath and starting to carefully move on all fours around and past the wide clearing of cursed springs, Link and the others soon emerged on the other side of the trees, back in the area of the forest that was far more familiar to them. As the older Link stopped and sat down, this Link moved to stand up on just his hind legs, turning around to glance up at Impa and waiting for the Sheikah-turned-bear to seal the cursed springs away. It might not have kept them from being cursed, but he knew Impa very well and was grateful even in her own cursed form, she was set to make sure that the same fate did not befall anyone else. He imagined that most if not all of her own magic would still work the same, considering the way that his magic worked whenever he assumed his Deku, Goron, or Zora forms… although admittedly? It was really neat to get to see a powerful bear perform a sealing spell.

"At least the rest of the forest is the same… and hopefully there won't be any more surprises on the way back," said Tatl, chiming as she flew a little closer to Link.

"Yeah… I'm sure we'll be fine, though," stated Link. Whether it was simple instinct or something else, the boy-turned-rabbit could not help but think that they would be okay on their trek back home… even with as strange as it was bound to be.

Once Leaf shook his way free from Ciela's grip, Sheik raised his eyebrows as he saw the Spirit of Power start to move a little closer to him. His red eyes widened once he found himself met with a quick peck on the cheek from Leaf, and between both that kind action as well as his quiet apology, he simply smiled to his friend. Nodding slightly to him as he darted over to the older Link's hat, Sheik stated, "I forgive you, Leaf, but… thank you all the same."

As the four of them got set to press onward, the disguised princess-turned-prince caught the next message that Impa had written for them. He was glad that their own voiced support had struck a chord with his guardian, and at her own request for them to be careful, he nodded to her with a soft smile. "Of course, Impa… we will."

Only once he was absolutely certain that Link, Link, and Impa would be able to move all right on their own did Sheik continue forward himself. In no time at all, each of them had emerged well past the springs on the other side of the clearing, and with a short glance about this section of the woods, the disguised princess-turned-prince could hardly believe that they were already back in a far more familiar area. To say that the Breach could be unpredictable was an understatement, but for it to have not only brought a strange location to them, and have it appear RIGHT underneath their feet? A clearing full of cursed springs or not, that was still very strange and even a little impressive to Sheik. The chances of anything like that happening had to be infinitesimally small, but even though they had wound up on the unlucky side of probability here, at the very least, things could have fared far worse. They might have been cursed now, but as Ciela had said, none of them had been hurt. Overall, everyone was all right… and that was truly the most important thing.

As the quartet made their way past the edge of the trees that surrounded the cursed springs, Sheik turned around, watching as Impa moved to seal off the area. He focused on the clearing in front of them, noting that as the magic took hold, that if he really focused, he could still tell that the springs were there, but that they were in effect sealed off from anyone inadvertently finding them. By the time that the spell had been completed, Sheik was positive that the only way they could be accessed was with Impa… and that alone did cause him to breathe a sigh of relief. They all might have been cursed, but at least that was the worst of things.

"Thank you, Impa," said Sheik, nodding to his guardian as he moved to pull out his lyre. Now that they were in a safer location, he soon looked at each of his friends present, from Impa to Link to Link… taking a deep breath, he hoped with all of his might that the Song of Healing would work for them. Something inside of him tried to voice a sense of doubt, but whether that proved true or not, the disguised princess-turned-prince was determined to try. Letting out his held breath in a slow sigh, Sheik soon stated, "All right… I'm going to try the Song of Healing."

Holding his lyre up in his left arm, Sheik placed his bandaged fingers against the proper strings. Taking one more deep breath, he began to play the familiar notes, all the while sending his own wish for them to be healed into the song.

Please… please Nayru, let this work…

Although she had to walk slightly differently given her new form, overall, Impa was able to manage walking upright as a bear without any trouble. It might not have seemed like much, but even so, she was still grateful for that. Her three charges also seemed to be able to move without much difficulty, and with a proud nod to all of them, the four Hyruleans soon found themselves just past the trees on the edge of the clearing.

Letting out a growling sigh as she turned around to look to the springs beyond the trees, Impa narrowed her red gaze, still somewhat unable to believe that this had all just happened. Many strange events had affected the four of them, both back in their respective times in Hyrule as well as on the Breach, but these curses… these were quite possibly the oddest event to hit them yet. Hopefully, the full effect of these four curses would be short-lived, but no matter how long they would be forced to keep them, the Sage of Shadow was determined to ensure that the cursed springs could do as little damage as possible.

Once they were past the trees, Impa glanced back to her three charges and the three fairies, chuffing slightly before growling a bit to all of them. Shifting her focus back to the clearing they had just come from, she held her paws forward, taking a deep breath and trying to call on the magic she could still feel within herself. Thankfully, Impa could still feel all of her magical power inside of her and within her grasp… she might have been turned into a bear, but it seemed that the magic was connected to her spirit more than it was her physical form. No matter how it worked here, she was just grateful to be able to keep that… it might not have meant a cure for them, not even a temporary one… but at the very least, she could take care of sealing of the cursed springs without having to wait too long to do so.

Moving her paws to a familiar position in front of her face and clenching them into the closest thing to fists she could make, Impa focused for several more moments before suddenly thrusting her paws forward, starting to cast the sealing spell. As the clearing full of springs faded from view, she made sure to extend the spell well around it… and by the time she had finished the spell she had cast so many times before, the springs were only visible with her own Eyes of Truth. Lowering her paws and nodding in satisfaction at her work, Impa turned back to the others, growling softly to them, soon managing a slight smile at Sheik's thanks.

Her red eyes widened when her charge pulled out his lyre, and she nodded to him at his voiced idea. Even with her own keen perception, Impa was not certain if the Song of Healing would work. It was a different sort of magic from the curses that had affected them, but even so… it was worth a try. Even if it could not return them to their true forms, at the very least, it might help heal their spirits some.

"Rraaarr…" Impa growled, hoping that Sheik would feel the support in that articulation. Watching as the girl-turned-boy began to play the familiar song, Impa took another deep breath, soon letting her eyes slide closed as she listened to the soothing notes. They certainly sounded nice, especially on the lyre.. but even as the song was completed, the Sheikah-turned-bear could not feel any outward changes… not even a slight one. Sighing silently as she opened her eyes once more, Impa glanced downward, before looking to Link, Link, and Sheik again…

    Nothing had changed…

The Song of Healing had not worked.

    They were all still cursed.

Feeling her ears flatten against the top of her head as she fixed her charge with a sympathetic look, Impa waited for a few beats of silence to pass before stepping forward to him. Carefully placing a paw on his shoulder and growling softly to him, the Sheikah-turned-bear met his gaze, holding it for a couple of moments before she pulled Sheik into a hug. She knew that he was and would be fine… they all were and they all would be… but since she could not speak right now, at the very least, Impa hoped that this action would speak louder than anything she could growl or write.

She knew that Sheik would not blame himself for the Song of Healing not working, but even so, she could sense the slightest twinge of guilt from him… and she hoped that this hug would help erase that as well as empower each of them to press forward.

Tightening the hold on her charge a fraction, Impa also hoped that he could tell just what she was trying to convey… they would recover from this. No matter what it took or how long it took, they would all be healed. Together… they would all work through this together.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Wind Waker Link on Tue Aug 20, 2013 6:36 pm

Link watched his rabbit-transformed friend took his first few steps and Ciela joined Tatl in the air above him, prepared to give him a shove if he started tipping unsteadily near one of the springs. They were already cursed as one thing, it'll be even more awkward to be cursed as another thing. Dangerous as well, as it was nobody's knowing what will happen if different curses mixed together.

When the younger Link was moving along well enough, the Spirit of Courage took one more glance around the pools suspiciously before she followed the rest of the the transformed Hyruleans.  It wasn't until they reached the safety of the familiar forest that the fairy relaxed a little and with an almost inaudible sigh, landed softly on Zelda's head.

Link and Leaf on the other hand had all but dropped all guard in favour of just watching Impa perform a sealing spell with eyes wide as saucers. It always fascinated (or godly amazed if it was Leaf) them to see the more intricate spells being perform since neither the Hero of Winds and red fairy's magic abilities were near that level of complexity, finesse and duration time. To see it being performed as a bear adds a whole new level for awesome to the spell and spellcaster and further proof that cursed or not, the Sage of Shadows was not somebody you should take lightly by any means.

Just before the sealing process was over though, Link's unpeeled his gaze to focus within himself, searching for his own magic abilities. The relief in finding that he could actually still access the powers was enough for him to snort out a sigh and he had to resist the urge to sink to the ground. He's not completely defenceless as a pig then. He just needed to work out how to use magic in this form.... maybe.

"Whooooooooa," Leaf said, drawing Link back out from his own thoughts. The piglet snorted his thanks alongside Sheik whilst Leaf stayed in fanboy-land for a few moments longer. "I don't even have words to describe how awesome that looked. Can you still summon Shadow Blades then? Because I really can't see any way to make you even more cooler anymore, Impa."

As soon as the sealing was done and Link could only squint at the area the springs were, Zelda took out his lyre and the piglet's ears swivelled forward, instantly alert. The two Spirits' wings lifted up and Ciela took two flaps and was off the princess-turn-prince's head. She was sure she could remain on the spot but if a change was to happen, she didn't want to be caught in the wisps of any of its magic. The Spirit of Power remained absolutely oblivious to that thought process and remained as is on Link's hat.

They watched Zelda, giving him their silent support and trying their very best not to place too much hope in this. As the first few notes were played, Link took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He really was trying not to hope too much but he couldn't help but also send a plea to the goddesses that this would work.

Very soon, he felt the song wash over him and found himself lulled into a sense of calm and comfort. He knew everything was going to be okay already but the Song of Healing only made it clearer as it soothed the panic and worry from him. The song ended and the innkeeper exhaled softly. Link opened his eyes already knowing he was still in the same form as before the song. His limbs still didn't feel like when he was a boy, he was still very aware of every movement of his ears and he could still feel his tail on the ground. And as he opened his eyes, he confirmed that the others were the same as well. Link was still a rabbit, Impa a bear and the innkeeper can only assume that Zelda is still a boy. All still cursed.

Snuffling, the piglet stepped forward as their bear-guardian wrapped Sheik in a hug. He sat down by the boy's feet, looked up and flattened his ears. He wasn't tall enough to join in the hugging and he highly doubt he could jump that high safely without practice. The piglet glanced at the younger Link who was sharing the same height predicament and he frowned. With another snuffle, the Hero of Winds tapped Zelda's leg then leant his forehead against it, Leaf too rolling forward to lean his glow against it. Ciela circled up and landed on the boy's bandaged head again. "We'll all be okay. We're all together after all."

"Well, we're kinda missing Ne-- learnt my lesson! Okay!"

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Link64 on Thu Aug 22, 2013 6:56 am

Link's movement on all fours was somewhere between a walk and a hop, but thankfully, he managed to get the hang of it pretty quickly. Given the way his hind legs were now built, the transformed hero could not help but feel the potential for speed in his current form… the way his muscles moved told him that if he were to take off at a sprint, he'd be moving just as quickly if not more quickly than when he wore his bunny hood. It made perfect sense to him having experienced wearing that as well as actually having become a rabbit now, and whilst he hoped to be able to return to himself soon, in the event that he couldn't just yet, a small part of him was rather eager to try running in this form.

He was grateful for the watchfulness from both Tatl and Ciela, and as all of them gathered together again, the Hero of Time watched in awe as Impa moved to seal the springs away. His blue eyes widened slightly the moment she took a familiar position, and as the spell she was casting began to take hold, he found that the entire clearing that now held the springs began to fade from view. Once the spell had been cast, Link nodded his own gratitude to echo that of Sheik and the older Link, and he couldn't help but smile slightly at Leaf's praise of the Sage-turned-bear. It was admittedly pretty cool… and even though it was just one spell for now, the Hero of Time was glad to see this further proof that Impa was most definitely herself. He knew that she could handle her bear form the same as how each of them could handle their new forms… but every little aspect that proved that was something of a small comfort to him.

Tatl resisted the urge to comment on Leaf's remarks. All four of the fairies liked and respected Impa a lot, and even she had to admit that the Spirit of Power's admiration for the Sheikah was rather sweet. She would never tell him this of course, but it was enough to give her an invisible albeit smug smile.

Link's ears perked up the instant that Sheik pulled out his lyre, and he soon nodded to him once he said he was going to play the Song of Healing. The Hero of Time still felt a little bad about not being able to access the Ocarina of Time right now, but he knew that his best friend's lyre was capable of much of the same magic that the instrument of the Royal Family was. After all, he… she had taught him all of the songs of the six temples with it in the future, and he had since learned that Sheik had in fact been able to warp to each location with them. In fact, Link was pretty sure that the only thing that the disguised princess-turned-prince's lyre couldn't do was open the Door of Time.

"All right, Sheik… good luck," said Tatl, chiming softly as she circled about the younger Link. She wasn't sure if she should expect masks to appear from the four Hyruleans or not, but at the very least, she hoped that this song helped them out at least somewhat. After all, it had been surprisingly helpful back in Termina, and it should have at least SOME effect here, even if it was just for their spirits.

Giving his friend a reassuring smile, Link nodded to him, silently hoping that this attempt would work. Taking a deep breath of his own as Sheik began to play the familiar song, Link closed his eyes, hoping to soon feel not only the soothing effects of the Song of Healing, but also a transformation back into himself. It was a longshot… but even so, it was most definitely worth a try. As the notes echoed through the forest, Link found that his mind was most definitely eased… however… he also felt that no changes had taken place. As the notes began to fade from the end of the song, he reopened his eyes, only to confirm that all four of them were still in their cursed forms… it hadn't worked.

His heart fell for each of them, especially for Sheik since he had been the one to attempt the song. "It… it's all right, Sheik…" he said, his expression shifting into a sympathetic one. Somehow though, seeing the supportive, meaningful hug Impa gave him started to lift it right back up, and he was soon carefully making his way towards both of them along with the older Link. He too wanted to join in the hug, but as it was, he knew that he couldn't do so nearly as effectively as he wanted to. His long ears drooped  back slightly at that thought, although his older nametwin's action did give him his own idea.

As Tatl circled the group of them, Link moved to tentatively hug Sheik's other leg from the side. As he got his paws set around the limb, he slowly tightened his grip, hoping that this friend would not mind this modified hug. It might not have been exactly how he wanted to convey his own support here, but it was something… and as Ciela said, they would would all be okay… they were together, and they would make it through this together.

Even as Tatl caught Leaf's quiet attempt to add something, she chimed slightly. The four fairies might not have all been there much less cursed… but the winged quartet were going to be just as there for the four Hyruleans as they were for each other. That much she was certain of.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Fri Aug 23, 2013 11:56 am

As Sheik played the Song of Healing, he let the soothing nature of the melody wash over him. Even if this did not work as far as reversing their curses went, the disguised princess-turned-prince could already feel it easing his mind. He had recovered well enough from the sudden shock of the transformations that had befallen him and his family, but the song was doing its part to help heal the lingering emotions from it. However, as he played the song, he could not feel any changes taking place…

And once he completed the song and looked down to himself, he knew for certain that nothing had changed. He was still a boy… his voice box was still slightly more prominent, his chest was still flat, and… that was still there. "Ah…" At that, Sheik looked forward, his red gaze falling on the still cursed forms of Impa, Link, and Link. They were all still a bear, a rabbit, and a pig respectively… the Song of Healing had not cured them.

Lowering his lyre, Sheik sighed softly, saying, "I… I'm sorry everyone…" He knew that this was not his fault and that it couldn't be helped, but even so, as he had been the one to attempt the song for them, he did feel a little bad that it had not been successful. As he put his lyre back into his own Hyrulean storage space, the girl-turned-boy's gaze turned to the ground, inwardly wondering just how they were going to reverse this. They knew that the curses were not permanent… but even with as much a relief as that was, there was still the uncertainty of just how they could heal themselves.

Before Sheik's slight stirring of guilt could progress any further, he soon felt Impa's paw on his shoulder. Looking up to his transformed guardian, he read all of the sympathy and support that her red eyes held, and a couple of moments later, he soon found himself pulled into a strong, very welcome hug. Every sentiment that this hug meant to express came across loud and clear, and as he felt his own mind starting to feel even more at ease than it had from the Song of Healing, Sheik soon returned the hug as best he could, resting his head against Impa's torso as he said, "Thank you, Impa…"

In short order, he felt the added supportive affections of Link and Link at the sides of his legs, and even though he was already smiling softly by this point, Sheik's smile did deepen slightly at catching that. As the four held their places in this newer sort of family hug, the disguised princess-turned-prince nodded a little at Ciela's statement, adding, "You're right, Ciela… we will find a way out of this. Somehow, we will reverse it… but the important thing is that we're together." He was glad to have felt her land back on his head, almost as though she was instilling some of her own courage in him to add to his own, and especially from the simple way that her action proved her words even more.

After a few more moments, Sheik gently pulled back from Impa's hug, right before he leant over and very carefully picked up the older Link in his right arm, and the younger Link in his left. Standing back up straight, he hugged both of them close, hoping that they would not mind this action too much if at all. It was still a little surreal to be able to hold both of his friends in such a way given their much smaller stature now, but even so, Sheik felt that they both needed the hug just as much as he had.

"We're always together," said Sheik, keeping his hold on both of his friends, especially so once Impa moved to hug all three of them properly. After a few more moments, Impa and Sheik ended the hug, and the disguised princess-turned-prince carefully set both of his friends back on the ground. Feeling his earlier confidence return from its slight ebb and grow even further, he nodded to Impa, Link, and Link, stating, "That was just one attempt… the real cure is still out there. For now though… shall we carry on?"

Whether they were cured or not before they returned to the inn, making their way back home was their best course of action right now. They might have appeared to be a strange party now, but no matter what forms they took, they were still themselves, and they were still family.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Impa on Fri Aug 23, 2013 12:18 pm

At Leaf's unabashed praise, Impa simply growled softly, smiling a little and nodding her thanks to him. She tilted her head slightly back and to the side at his question regarding her being able to use Shadow Blades, and as she focused within her self, she found that the answer was in fact yes. Baring a few of her currently sharper teeth just a bit as she smiled to the Spirit of Power, Impa nodded slowly to him. Bear or not, she still seemed to be able to have a hold on that part of her magic as well. It was still a strange transformation, but admittedly, Leaf's kind words were helping ease her mind even further from this turn of events.

Once she was hugging Sheik, Impa's expression shifted into a very soft, very slight smile once she caught the actions of Link and Link, inwardly feeling a little sympathetic that they could not hug quite the way that they could in their own bodies, yet at the same time, proud of them for the way they joined in here. Rabbit, pig, or Hylian, they were both truly young heroes… and as she hugged the princess-turned-prince, she felt more certain than ever that her three charges were going to be just fine throughout the course of this.

No matter how long it took, no matter what it took… they were still themselves, they were still together, and they were still family. Strange events did happen, but whenever they did, they only made the four of them grow stronger and closer. There would be some good to come from this, that much the Sheikah-turned-bear could feel… and she was positive that it would far outweigh any of the challenges that they would have to face until this could be reversed.

Growling softly at Ciela's sentiment as she landed back on Sheik's head, Impa held the hug for several more moments, only pulling back once the girl-turned-boy did. As soon as she saw what her charge was doing though, her slight smile deepened further… and once Sheik added to the Spirit of Courage's statement around hugging his two best friends, Impa moved to carefully hug all three of them again. The hug was strong but gentle, as even though she was already starting to get used to her bear form, she did not want to risk using too much of her new strength. She was not quite sure of the full difference between her Sheikah and bear forms, and until that time, she was determined to be especially careful.

A few moments later, and Impa lowered her arms, watching as Sheik moved to return both Link and Link to the ground. Nodding to her charge at his suggestion of them continuing, Impa growled an affirmative before motioning for everyone to follow her. Still remaining upright for the time being, the Sheikah-turned-bear began to walk forward through the forest again, all the while helping to lead them back to the exit of the forest and their path home.

As she lumbered forward, Impa thought back to Leaf's quiet and quickly self-hushed remark about Neri. The Spirit of Wisdom was going to be in for a very big surprise once they returned home, and that much stood true whether they had found a cure for these curses or not yet. Even so, the Sage of Shadow was already thinking of possible ways to reverse these transformations, both temporarily and permanently. Something had to work… and she was determined to find out just what it was.

Post by Wind Waker Link on Sat Aug 24, 2013 7:50 pm

Ciela shifted atop Zelda's bandages as the hug ended. Neri was not here, Ciela told herself. On one wing, she was glad the Spirit of Wisdom wasn't here because she would surely had taken the appearence of the springs and the curses badly. On a different wing though, Ciela do wish the blue fairy to be present. Her sensitivity would be much appreciated right now and she knows how to be outwardly affectionate making her much more suited for showing her support and care for Impa, Link, Link and Sheik. Whilst Ciela could just as easily display the same kind of affections, it was noticeably a lot harder and not quite the same level as Neri's because her personality isn't quite as sugary sweet as hers.

But the Spirit of Wisdom wasn't here. No, she was back at the inn, oblivious to the curses their family are stuck with and Ciela was out here. It was not that Ciela felt herself inadequate, it's just that that aspect of Neri would help a lot right now.... after she finished fretting and panicking, that is. Ciela flapped her wings lightly and fluttered upwards. "I'll check and make sure there are no changes to the forest ahead."

As the fairy left, Leaf wiggled excitedly on Link's hat and tried to keep his voice quiet and contained. "Did you see her teeth?! I'm so glad, I'm not flying right now, I would have forgot how to work my wings." Seriously, was there any way to make Impa any cooler anymore? Forget about Ganondorf being the bearer of the Triforce of Power, can't Leaf just share a connection with Impa instead? Besides, whilst Leaf liked to set things on fire and to watch things being destroyed or burned, he wouldn't want to be on the bad side with Ganondorf. He was created to be the Spirit of Power! To work with the Ocean King! Can't there be a representative of Din on the good side as well?

Link took a step back as the hug stopped only to blink in surprise as Zelda leant over. Was she reaching down to pat him again? Noooo, that's not his head. Why are you.. oh! "Skt!" And he was picked up. Link tried to keep as still as possible both so that Zelda had a better grip of him and also because he was still not too used to this and can't be confident he would land on his feet if he did fall.

He did manage to carefully turn his head to notice that Link was picked up too but before he could figure out why they were both being lifted off the ground, he found himself in a hug again. A proper hug.

The piglet started in surprise then relaxed, closed his eyes and snuggle his face into Zelda's shoulder. He.... needed this. Link took a deep breath and exhaled just a slowly as Impa wrapped her arms around all three of them, his ears twitching a little as he felt the fur brush the tips. Had the Song of Healing not been played and had soothed his spirit some, Link think this hug would probably have a lot more upset piglet in the midst but as it was now, he was content and perfect nestled here.

As this hug too ended and he was set back on the ground again, he snorted a few noises of thanks then nodded strongly. Let's carry on. Just in time, Ciela had returned, rustling through the branches above them. "Yeah, it all looks the same. But we'll be walking past Zinnia's hot spring so I'm not sure if all water in the forest had been affected or just that area that appeared. Best be wary."

The innkeeper nodded again and with another glance to the sealed area, he followed after the black and white bear, moving quickly to keep up with her.

Link shook his head slightly at Sheik's apology, hoping to add to his verbal insistence that it was okay. He knew that the disguised princess-turned-prince could not help that the Song of Healing had not worked… and as much as he wished it had for all of their sakes, he was still grateful for the attempt, and even more the soothing effects that the notes had still carried.

As the four ended their makeshift hug, Link soon blinked in surprise just as his older nametwin did, wondering just what Sheik was up to as he leant over to pick both of them up. "Huh?" The Hero of Time could not help but sound as he found himself being lifted up in the air, but no sooner had their still-Hylian friend stood back up than had he hugged both of the transformed boys close. Link's blue eyes widened in surprise as the fact that he was being hugged fully sank in… it… it really was a proper hug. Rabbit or not, he was able to have a real hug… and it was just what he needed here.

That realization was the final bit of healing that Link needed, and after a moment, he instinctively reached forward to return Sheik's hug, wrapping his shorter arms around the very arm that held him and resting his head on his friend's shoulder. He closed his eyes as he nestled his head in closer, grateful for the close contact and for the simple fact that Sheik thought to initiate this.

The Hero of Time had been cursed before, transformed against his will... back then, he had managed to make do. Sure, there was the initial panic followed by the apparent lack of sympathy from Tatl at the time, but between his own nature as well as his determination to press forward, he had been able to recover well enough and last out the three days before he could return to himself. Link had kept in mind that if he could face down Ganon and any challenge leading up to that, that he could bear with being stuck as a Deku Scrub... but had he been able to get comfort such as this back then, even just a simple hug... that transition to the new world of Termina as well as his own changed form would have been so much easier.

There... he had been alone. Many of the faces were familiar, but no one knew him, and he didn't know them at first. But here... he was not alone. He might not have been the only one cursed, but even so, he was not alone here. None of them were, and none of them would be. That was what this hug echoed to Link, and as he better met Sheik's shoulder with his head, he was all the more galvanized to be there for the three of them no matter how long these curses lasted.

As the four cursed Hyruleans shared more of a proper hug, Tatl kept a sharp lookout for Ciela, chiming and perking up slightly once her fellow yellow fairy returned. "Welcome back." The other four ended their hug just before the Spirit of Courage could give her report, at which point the Terminian fairy hummed pensively. Zinnia's hot spring, huh... "Yeah, that is on the way back from this area, isn't it... at least its presence shows that things appear to be fine everywhere else."

Link smiled to Sheik as he was set back down, nodding in full agreement with the princess-turned-prince's sentiment, and with the older Link as they were set to carry on. The Song of Healing hadn't worked, but the cure was still out there. They just had to find it. One of his ears tilted at an angle as he thought over Ciela's mention of Zinnia's spring... surely the rest of the water in the forest still had to be okay, right? Still... it was best to be careful. That much stood regardless of the hot spring they would be passing.

"Still, I'm glad it all looks the same... thanks Ciela." With another look to his friends, the boy-turned-rabbit placed his front paws on the ground again, starting to move in a careful hop/walk as he followed after Impa's powerful form.
