The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

It was a perfect late spring day outside… just enough clouds to keep the sun from beaming too brightly, a soft breeze blowing through the trees, and a temperature that had finally made up its mind to be more than just pleasant. One could have scarcely asked for better weather to have whilst exploring the Kindle Forest, and more than that, it was some of the best that could be afforded for training… and that was exactly what had drawn the Hyruleans out to the forest for their training time today.

The warmer weather brought a plethora of new opportunities for training, and regardless as to the area they had ventured to any given week lately, the four kids had definitely been able to get some great experiences under Impa's watch. Today had been no exception, and had frankly been one of their most rewarding times out yet.

After Impa, Link, Sheik, and Link had met at Aicara's cottage for a tasty lunch, the Sage of Shadow had led the three Hylian kids deeper into the forest where they took advantage of the flora and terrain to get some excellent practice in. Some hours later, after they had gone over everything that was set for this outing, they found themselves trekking through another part of the forest on the way back to the city. The forest was always a dynamic place, and even though the four of them had started to learn much of its layout like the back of their hands, it did still change from time to time regardless of anything that happened to be pulled there from the portals. It was rather akin to the Lost Woods from the past of Hyrule in many respects, but thankfully navigation often proved to be less circuitous, at least for initial exploration of a certain area.

As the four friends continued on through the woods, Sheik could not help but grin to herself before smiling over at Link and Link. She herself had got to utilize some advanced Sheikah dodging techniques just a little earlier, and both of the boys had really helped her practice those better than just jumping around might have let her. When arrows and other projectiles were headed straight for one, it was certainly a great exercise for many reflexes. The disguised princess smiled even more to herself as she thought back to some of the hand-to-hand sparring she had got to have with both Link and Link, and overall, she could not help but feel immensely satisfied and proud of that training session.

"Thank you again for the training today, Impa," stated Sheik, grinning up at her guardian. Moving past another row of tall trees in this stretch of the forest, she added, "It was a lot of fun, and I really think we found a great spot to return to in the future."

Whilst she herself had rather enjoyed the training session with her three young charges, Impa was also feeling immensely proud of them for the skills they had shown today. She was not surprised in the slightest of course, but to be able to see how far each of them had come and how they had progressed even more on both familiar and newer techniques, the Sheikah had a feeling that the soft smile she wore now would not be fading anytime soon.

Link, Sheik, and Link were each skilled in many things all across the board, but even though she knew what each of them was and would be capable of, Impa was always happy to see just how strong each of them was, and even more how determined they were to continue to build on that. Whether it was melee combat, the use of magic, defensive techniques, or anything else, the Sage of Shadow was glad that they all had yet another thing that they could enjoy together. These sessions not only helped each of them stay sharp and rebuild/hone any power of theirs, they were always very fun times for bonding. Her three charges were undoubtedly the closest of friends, and Impa herself was quite close to them in the guardian role she had fallen into, but any time together, be it a meal, practice, or anything else, always saw to build even more on that. They truly were a family, and the Sheikah was all too honored to be able to call her charges such.

Looking over Link, Link, and Sheik, Impa let out a satisfied sigh at thinking back to certain aspects from the training they had just wrapped up. At the disguised princess' grateful words, the Sage of Shadow simply nodded to her, smiling a bit more as she stated, "You're quite welcome, Sheik. I rather enjoyed it too, and I agree… we will definitely have to keep the areas of this part of the forest in mind. It's situated almost perfectly… and all three of you were particularly stellar today. I am rather confident that the summer should prove to be an even better time for us."

The three kids were always star students, but Impa was always happy to see even the slightest growth in each of them… whether it was a skill or a further fortified bond.

As the sun filtered through the thick tree coverage, the four Hyruleans continued their short journey back towards the city. They were starting to make their way through a wide clearing in the forest as they pressed forward, and it seemed that this route might be yet another good one for them to consider for future adventures in the forest.

Be it warmer weather or colder weather, the Hyruleans were always prepared to train. The only difference in willingness is that when it’s colder, they did more low visibility training and there seems to be a lot more holidays and festive occasions to interrupt their calendars. Today though, it was warm, which placed Link in a ridiculously good mood because the warmer it got the more likely and closer he was to dragging all his friends to the beach. He was already conjuring up the perfect beach picnic basket in his head and it was with this distraction and also the wistfully rememberings of the great lunch they had at Aicara’s cottage that he had the floor swept from him by Sheik in their hand to hand combat training.

He didn’t dwell on it though, instead he laughed, got back up and continued. Whilst not as masterly talentful as Impa and the princess at hand-to-hand combat, the Links had steadily improved better training alongside their friends. That being said, if their friends went serious on them, Link and Link would have better luck running the other direction that they would winning an unarmed fight against either of them. And considering their chances of escape were blocked by the Sheikah Vanish... yeah, oh hello floor! You’re our best friend.

That fact didn’t dampen the Links mood though. Instead, this Link was smiling broadly and walking alongside his friends whilst swing a twig of leaves childishly through the air with each step. He still learnt something new and built on what he knew already, it was great exercise and they also found a new spot to train in.

He nodded as Sheik thanked Impa, agreeing and adding his own silent thanks to their tall guardian with a giant grin. Now that he was used to the layout of their new training spot, his marksmanship would be even better next time in Sheik’s dodging technique training. This, of course, went both ways but the increase in difficulty is something all of them look forward to.

Impa’s compliment made him grin even wider and he straightened his shoulders a little in pride.

“Four? No! What about us? We’re stellar too, right?” chipped in Leaf, puffing a little that he didn’t get an awesome compliment as well. “Maybe more than stellar. That’s why you didn’t place us in the same category yet.”

“Leaf, if you focus more on actually helping with the targeting instead of just being loud and taunting then you might be stellar too,” remarked Ciela, the Spirit of Courage who was atop the innkeeper’s hat. The fairies too had been busy throughout the training session with their own with Tatl. Snarky commentary on the training’s ongoings aside, they had been targeting practice under the strict tutelage of the fairy from Termina. Only Neri didn’t participate having pulled the short straw and had stayed behind to man the inn’s reception in their place.

“I am very stellar!” Leaf huffed before flying a little higher in a mock sulk. He turned to Sheik. “Right? We helped you aim, didn’t we?”

Link chuckled and waggled his left eyebrow at his disguised best friend whilst shaking his head slightly. It's a question you can not answer. Leaf is just being silly and even Leaf knew it. He was just still high from their workout.

Link always enjoyed any end every single training session he got to participate in both back in Hyrule as well as here on the Breach. He had enjoyed practicing all sorts of things growing up in the Kokiri Forest, and being able to learn even more once he had embarked on his quest was particularly fun. Even with his ever-present quest staying at the forefront of his mind, to Link, the chance to improve various skills of his was always as fun as it was useful. Once time had been turned back and he had got to go on a couple of adventures with Impa, he certainly enjoyed the chance to get to learn from a skilled warrior, and that had only picked up in frequency and enjoyment after they had both arrived in this world. From there, it built even further with the additions of the older Link and Aicara, and even more the arrival of Zelda on the Breach… and no matter the combination of the kids for any given session, the Hero of Time loved each and every one of them.

It seemed that all three of the kids present were ready to train no matter what, for even though they all hoped that they could focus more on their own adventures than the world being in need of saving, the kids did enjoy the chance to boost their abilities, learn more, and of course have fun together.

Today had a heavier focus on hand-to-hand combat, and whilst this Link was far better versed with armed combat just like his future nametwin, it had been a very fun and useful session. It never failed to amaze him to see how much the disguised princess knew of the art of combat, for even though he knew of the power she'd held in the future as well as the training she'd had even before they had been reunited here, it was still really neat to see just what all she was capable of. Be it magic or any other skill, he was always eager to see it in action, and even more to get to spar with her. Alongside the older Link, this Link had sought to listen to every bit of advice Impa had held for them. By the end of it, whilst he had literally been swept off his feet a few times, he was still just as thrilled for this session as he was for any other. And besides, having been in a position before where his main weapon had been knocked out of his hands, it was great to learn even more of how to pick up from there!

This Link was smiling just as broadly as the older boy was, and he soon moved to echo Sheik and Link's thanks to Impa, as well as respond to her own praise of them. Sharing a nod with the other three kids, he added, "Wow… thank you, Impa! I had fun as well! I'd always be happy to return here!"

As Link shared an amused expression with Sheik and Link at Leaf's own reaction to Impa's words, Tatl simply chimed and noted, "Relax, will you? Are you already forgetting the feedback and such from the end of the session? You know we did a good job, but like Ciela said, you need to focus more. And right NOW, we need to focus on making sure they continue the right way through the forest. Then MAYBE you can be stellar."

Link just chuckled a bit himself, soon smiling along with Sheik, Link, and Impa as they continued on through the woods.

As the four Hyruleans continued on through the Kindle Forest, they deftly wove their way through the thick of trees that was on the fringe of a rather wide clearing in the forest. The large trunks were spaced enough that whilst all of them could have followed through in more or less a single file line, it proved easier for each of them to go in between different pairs of trees individually. As such, Sheik, Impa, Link, and Link soon moved themselves out around the trees, the three fairies following closely by them as they all headed forward. With Tatl bobbing beside the Hero of Time, Ciela still resting atop the Hero of Winds' hat, and Leaf puffing about near the Sheikah-in-training, they all soon emerged into the clearing in front of them.

A few steps into the clearing though, before any of them could start to move their positions, something strange happened. Something unexpected... something that none of them could have prepared for.

No sooner had they made it past the main coverage of the closest trees on the edge of the clearing, a large group of individual pools of water suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Scores and scores of springs now made up the floor of the clearing, the blue flash that preluded their arrival barely perceptible even to the sharp-eyed Hyruleans. Not even the Sage of Shadow was able to detect that anything was amiss, and the only true warning they had before anything was that the very next step each of them took was not one on solid ground.

Even with the poles of bamboo that were dotting much of the new scenery, each of the four Hyruleans was now standing above one of four of the newly arrived springs.

With barely any time to call out in surprise, all four of them promptly fell right in, each of them landing with a nice, loud…

    *SPLASH!*

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Tue Jun 11, 2013 6:56 pm

"AAAH!" exclaimed Zelda as she suddenly found nothing beneath her feet, right before ended up falling in the spring directly beneath her.

    *SPLASH!*

The disguised princess was used to being caught off guard with various things, and she had been knocked into water a good number of times around some of her training by Lake Hylia, but this was the first time that she had ever just fallen into a spring like that. Her eyes were closed shut as she tried to get her bearings from her new position here underwater, and thankfully, she had been able to get just enough of a breath before she went under. A couple of blinks later helped her determined that she was fine here, and despite the blurred view above her, she could tell that whatever spring she had fallen into, it was not that deep. Moving her feet to the bottom of the spring and her arms to her sides, Sheik quickly kicked and pulled forward, right before she broke the surface with a rather impressive "BWA!"

She coughed a couple of times as she tried to catch her breath, having pulled the cloth down around her neck, right before her red eyes widened as she realized that she was the first one to have come up from this. Only now did she get a truly good look at all of the springs that now covered the clearing, and she could hardly believe that mere seconds ago, this area had been nothing but grass. Still, as surprised as she was about the appearance of these springs, Sheik was far more concerned about her guardian and friends. They each had good lung capacities, but from where she stood a little higher than waist-deep in the water, she hoped that they had not been injured upon their own splashdowns. A quick glance confirmed that at least the three fairies were all right… and that alone was promising.

"Tatl! Leaf! Ciela!" exclaimed Sheik, right before her left hand flew up to grab her throat once she called the name of the nearby Spirit of Courage. Maybe her voice was still recovering from the shock of each of them suddenly falling into a pool, but what was that crack she had heard?! "Link? Link? Impa?!" asked Sheik, her eyes soon widening as she heard her voice crack again. No something was definitely off… her voice was slightly deeper, and it had definitely squeaked as she called her guardian's name.

Sheik still felt mostly all right, but now that she had emerged from the spring, she could not help but feel that something was wrong, or at the very least off… or different.

What could have happened to her? She was still herself, wasn't she? Sheik moved to feel for her ears… yes, still pointed… and the contours of her face still felt about the same. As she moved her arms though, she could tell that something very, very slight was different in the way her muscles moved… namely in the way the muscles across her chest felt. Rather, the muscles themselves still felt all right and as though they were in perfect order… but the very soft, very subtle weight she was used to feeling as she moved those muscles, even when she felt it closer against the bandages she wore on her frame… it wasn't there.

Now that realization caused her red eyes to widen significantly. She was still rather young of course, but that weight was already there… but bandages or not, she was still aware of it if she focused on it. Now though, it was just… gone.

If that realization and the one about her voice had made the disguised princess' eyes go wide though, the next one made them go even wider, if that was even possible for her. In trying to get her bearings better as she changed her footing from where she was still about waist-deep inside the spring, she had felt… a very unfamiliar shift. VERY unfamiliar. That wasn't… no… that couldn't have been…

No… no way… it was just her imagination, wasn't it?

No… it wasn't… and since this wasn't her imagination, adding this new evidence to the other pieces she had already figured out, Sheik's jaw dropped slightly, her eyes widened even more as a vivid blush became apparent across her features, even more so as the cloth that often covered the lower part of her face was still down around her neck. In one swift motion, the disguised princess grabbed the side of her Sheikah tunic and whipped it over to the side as she glanced down at her form, now fully confirming just what had happened to her. She… she had changed…

    "AH!!"

She wasn't just disguised as a boy now. No… she actually WAS a boy.

    Rather… HE was actually a boy…

    ...

Letting his tunic drop back to its normal position, Sheik stared forward into space, his mind racing as he tried to figure out just what had happened to cause this change, and as to whether or not Impa, Link, and Link were all right. If this had happened to him though… what was to become of them?

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Impa on Tue Jun 11, 2013 7:28 pm

Impa had been used to strange things happening out of nowhere well before she had arrived on the Breach, and that had only increased ever since that point in time. She had seen plenty of people, items, and places appear on this plane, but she had never seen one appear so suddenly, out of nowhere, or right before her eyes.

Much less right beneath her feet.

With a surprised gasp, Impa found herself submerged in one of the many springs that had materialized seemingly out of thin air. A few seconds in as she held her eyes and mouth firmly shut, she could sense that whilst she was fully underwater, this spring was not that deep, and a moment later, her red eyes snapped open so that she could glance about it. She was the only one that had fallen into this spring, but that did not exclude her four charges from having met the same fate with the others that had appeared. Confirming both that she was okay as well as that the surface was barely a kick away, Impa soon pushed off the bottom of the spring, aiming to break the surface and replenish the air in her lungs.

"BWA!" exclaimed Impa as she burst forth from the water's surface, her mighty cry echoing throughout the clearing for a moment. As disconcerted as she felt from having fallen in that sudden pool, right now, she cared more about checking on her charges… although a couple of breaths later, what then met her eyes once she saw the disguised princess before her caused her to drop her jaw slightly. It took a lot to surprise the Sheikah, and this was one of the very few times that she had been outright stunned.

Sheik was still before her, but not as herself. No, she was… … … oh sweet Nayru… the princess!

Eyes of Truth or not, Impa could see exactly what had happened to Sheik… she had been transformed. Completely. She was still a Hylian, but… she was now a young boy instead. What… what sort of magic was this?

No matter the source though, Sheik was still Zelda, and she was still her charge… as such, the most important thing though was to determine if new form or not, if she was in fact okay. Her own status could wait, she had to check on her, so an instant later, she called, "GRRAH! Growf-grrr--" Right before she stopped suddenly.

Impa's eyes widened as she realized that all she could articulate were fierce growls… not only that, but her as she wiggled her jaw to see what had happened with the noises she let out, she could tell that her teeth felt oddly sharper. Something was definitely wrong… just what had happened to her and her charges?! Whatever it was, all she knew was that it was not right… and with the sinking feeling she had deep in her stomach, it was something very grave. She quickly looked about, feeling quite a bit heavier than usual, right before she noticed that instead of her usual suit of armor, she only had the Sheikah emblem that she wore on her upper torso. Naked or not though, Impa's eyes widened even more as she realized that a lack of clothing was the least of her worries right now.

No, her entire form had changed.

She held out her hands to see just what was happening here, soon blinking in disbelief as she saw that she now had large, black paws instead of dextrous hands. Tentatively, she wiggled her fingers a little, hoping that this was just an illusion… however, as the sharp claws at the end of her paws responded to her commanded movement, her eyes soon widened further. If she didn't know better… these were the paws of…

Impa's paws quickly flew to her face, suddenly padding the edges of it to try and determine just what had happened here. As she felt the outline of the round ears on the top of her head, she soon moved to pad about her nose… which was now a prominent muzzle, just like that of a bear…

Her paws lingering over her muzzle for a moment as the realization sank in, Impa slowly glanced down to the still waters of the spring next to her, soon letting her paws drop from her nose as she stared at the reflection before her… her reflection. She didn't recognize the black and white markings that she currently had, but no matter what exactly had happened to her and her charges, one thing was for certain regarding the Sheikah…

    She WAS a bear.

This was beyond strange… "Rrraah…" growled Impa, looking to Sheik as the two locked eyes, both of them trying to make sense of what was going on here, and wondering if their friends had fared any better.

One step it was solid ground with the grass crunching underfoot and the next, he was falling over. At first Link thought he had stepped into a hidden hole but that made no sense because he was actually looking where he was going, not blindly trudging through the forest. He didn't have time to be confused though as the next thing he knew, he was in the water with a great splash; the fairy on his head all but shot off his head in alarm the second Link's head disappeared from under her. It was her own surprised reaction that placed Ciela high enough in the air to avoid all the water from Link's splash.

The other fairy, Leaf was also miraculously dry. He had squawked loudly in surprise at the sudden splooshes it was truly a miracle that all the water missed him. Why was water suddenly everywhere and, oh yes, he had wings, must work them.

"What? What? Huh? HUH?" exclaimed Ciela, turning around in the air before flying a bit higher to get a better view. "What is...I don't... but... WHERE DID THESE COME FROM?!"

It can't be an illusion, right? Impa and Sheik would have seen through it immediately before they entered it. If both princess and guardian  weren't aware of it until they happened on it then it really must have suddenly appeared....but HOW?

Ciela flew a few metres back the direction they came, confused and alarmed to find that there was no barrier they passed through. This large collection of pools was really there. "Tatl! Leaf! Are you both okay? What is happening here? Tatl, you're better at picking up signals that something is wrong. Did you sense anything before this...happen...SHEIK!"

Ciela and Leaf immediately converge in the air above the disguised princess. Both fairies easily dismissing the sudden crack of her voice as Sheik recovering from shock and probably from swallowing pool water.  "It's okay. We're here. What's happening?"

Ciela alighted one of the poles sticking up in the are whilst Leaf rushed off, whizzing through the air above the other pools. "Link?! Link?! Impa?! Come on! Surface already! This isn't funny. It's not time to play with Iron Boots. It's not like there's treasure in there, right?"

"Are you okay?" asked the Spirit of Courage to the princess, getting worried and even more puzzled as Sheik started checking everything was in order around her body. Ciela shared a look with Tatl, wondering if the more perceptive fairy could sense anything wrong with their friend. This shared look in short order escalated to a greater concern as Sheik flushed red.

"Um..." And then the Sheikah tunic was pulled to one side whilst Sheik looked downwards. Was there something in the wat--.....

    ....

    ....

Was that EARS coming out of the pool next door? ROUND ears?

"Oh Farore..." murmured the fairy as a BEAR pulled out of the pool. "SHEIK!" cried Ciela, jumping off her pole and spiralling in urgently flapping her wings protectively in front of the princess. "A bear! Get out of the water!"

"It's a beeeeeeear! GODDESSES! IT'S A BLACK AND WHITE BEAR! IT'S HUGE!.....LET'S BURN IT!" Leaf shrieked, rocketing back to their side of the springs. He too took up a stance in front of Sheik but this one more of a 'let's team up and destroy this enemy then maybe mount its head on their mantlepiece'. The little fairy growled right back at the bear who to Ciela's even more bafflement looked more confused than threatening especially with the way it touched its face. What? Was it sleeping in the water or something? Oh wait... wasn't that a coll....ar...huh?

As if the entire scenario wasn't confusing enough, there was a splash and what sounded like a strangled cry of a small animal. In unison, Leaf and Ciela turned around to see what looked like a round pig, pink-peach in colour with a very familiar green hat on its head. You could almost hear the clicking noise of the information coming together in their two Spirits' minds.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH?!" That about covered their feelings on the matter.

Back to the piglet, who flailed in the water, hooves splashing and generally squealing up a great amount of ruckus as it appeared to have forgotten or was having difficulty swimming. It took an amazing amount of paddling and two almost sinking back into the water for the creature to reached the edge of the pool.

It was a mixture of confusion, shock, even more confusion and the amount of flailing he did that Link had completely failed to grasp anything in terms of what's happening until he got to the edge.

"Squuuu..." sighed the innkeeper tiredly, quietly swearing to himself that he must be extremely out of shape if something as natural to him as swimming was this hard. It was like his limbs just weren't the same length and his body felt severely out of shape. He was tempted to rest a bit there but it was at this moment that his eyes landed on Sheik, standing in a nearby pool.

His friend was okay! He made a happy noise but blinked as it came out as a snort. Okay, where's Link and Imp-aaAAAAAAAAAAAH!

The pig froze, staring with eyes as wide as saucers at the bear. It. Was. HUGE. What was this? A boss bear? Was that why they're here? To fight a boss? Where was his sword? Urgh, he'll draw it later. In the mean time, with a grunt (that sounds incredibly piggish to Link's ears but he can't for the life of him figure out why), he heaved himself out of the water and immediately landed into a roll. Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarge!

    Link used Roll Out.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Link64 on Thu Jun 13, 2013 6:52 pm

"AHH!" was all Link was able to articulate before he too fell into one of the newly materialized springs. He had been used to falling into water randomly before, being knocked into it by enemies or jumping in of his own free will, but this was the first time that Link could think of that water had ever just APPEARED out of nowhere underneath him.

Tatl chimed in alarm as the springs appeared, her distinctive tones resounding even louder once the four Hyruleans fell into them. As she had been flying by Link's side instead of resting atop his head, she had not had to bolt as high up into the air to clear the splash of the water as Ciela and Leaf had, but she had still jumped up quite a bit out of sheer surprise. Chiming once more as she confirmed that Link, Sheik, Impa, and Link had ALL fallen in, she quickly whipped around to get a good look at the field of springs around Ciela's own voiced questions. The Terminian fairy was just as confused as both the Spirits of Courage and Power were, and she was soon darting back and forth to try and find some clue to show just where these darn things had come from. Ciela could do the asking right now, and Tatl could do the quick flying about the perimeter whilst Leaf made sure the three of them were still good. That teamwork they had practiced earlier was already coming in handy, even though the Terminian fairy rather wished it hadn't had to yet, at least not in this way.

Quickly flitting back to throw Ciela a quick glance around her own looking over the series of springs, Tatl chimed a couple more times before noting, "Yeah, I'm fine... but I have no idea what just happened. I didn't detect anything, but if I had to guess--"

Before Tatl could finish her response, Sheik emerged from the spring she had fallen into, causing Ciela to suddenly exclaim her name. Whilst the Spirit of Courage and the Spirit of Power darted over to check on her, Tatl turned and focused on trying to determine which springs the other four had fallen into. Her hearing was not the same as that of the Hylians or Sheikah, but even with her attention more focused on figuring out where Link, Impa, and Link had landed in all of this, she did catch the sudden crack in Sheik's voice. Considering how these springs had appeared out of NOWHERE, she wasn't at all surprised about that... and at least one of the four was accounted for.

Fully agreeing with Leaf over his own voiced concern whilst Ciela checked on Sheik, Tatl scanned the springs a couple more times before she swept back to the disguised princess just in time to note the way she was touching her pointed ears. The Terminian fairy chimed softly as she shared a glance with Ciela, but even though Sheik was seemingly taking a few seconds to make sure that she was fine from her sudden splashdown, Tatl could not sense that anything was wrong with her. That was a relief at least, regardless as to how she was acting... NOW IF THE OTHER THREE WOULD JUST APPEAR.

Mere seconds later, Tatl began chiming with renewed fervor as a large, black and white BEAR suddenly burst forth from the spring next to Sheik. A BEAR? SERIOUSLY?! What in the name of the four giants was going on here?!

As Ciela and Leaf bolted to Sheik's side to help throw the bear's targeting off whilst she could climb out of the spring, Tatl herself focused on the bear to see if she could spot anything interesting about it, or even figure out if it had any weak points. The first thing that caught her eyes was the very interesting collar the beast was wearing... and further inspection proved that it was not only interesting, it was strikingly familiar... just like the set of black eye markings accenting the black circles around its eyes. ... its RED eyes.

    ... ... ... Wait a minute...

With these three pieces of data, the strange way the bear was acting, and Sheik's own reaction to seeing it, the pieces soon fell into place for Tatl... RIGHT before the disguised princess called out the same name that she herself was about to think. ... IMPA?! This bear was IMPA?!

"What in the... how... WHAT?!" Tatl exclaimed, soon chiming in alarm. If this fierce bear was Impa, then how had she changed?! Given her own indirect experience with curses and forms changing back in Termina, she was able to figure this out without too much trouble, but what had triggered this curse?! There weren't any strange masks around, or even evil beings that she could detect... and more than that, Sheik was just fine! If they had both fallen into springs but only one of them had been transformed, what did this mean for the other three?!

A very surprised chime later, and Tatl got one of the three answers she sought, as another one of the springs' surfaces was soon broken... but it wasn't one of the kids she was looking for. No, it was just a piglet... a small pig... with a very, VERY familiar green hat... and this piglet was splashing about in the same spot that the future Link had been standing in just before he fell in his own spring. The future Link...

The surprised exclamation from Ciela and Leaf snapped Tatl out of her own stunned state long enough for her to chime a couple of times before echoing Sheik here. "Link?!" Okay, Sheik was fine, but Impa was a black and white bear, and now the future Link was a pig?! WHAT NEXT?!

Meanwhile, the young Hero of Time had plummeted down into the pool, having zero time to react, and he was set to swim up now that he had caught his bearings. Now though, he found that it was taking him more time to reach the surface than it should have, just based on how far down he'd fallen. No, no no, NO NO NO! Swim UP! SWIM UP! This pool had NOT been that deep when he had fallen into it, had it?! Why was it taking him longer to break through to the surface?! He hadn't got a good breath yet, Zora scale or mask or not, so he needed to get back up! Come on arms, pull! Legs, KICK--OKAY, THERE WE GO! Almost… there!

"BWA!" exclaimed Link as he finally made it to the surface of that surprisingly deep spring. He took a few more deep breaths as he started to tread the water and kick towards the side of the spring, soon grasping for the edge of land as soon as he had a chance to. That was a relief... as slight as it was, considering how they had all fallen into these springs as soon as they had appeared, the young hero was set to take it. It was short-lived though, as he immediately began to glance about and try to see if the others were all right. His gaze first landed on Sheik, and although he had not spotted the others yet, he was glad to see that at least she had surfaced already, although he could not suppress a sense within his gut that something was... off.

"Sheik! Are you all right?!" called the Hero of Time. She seemed a little disoriented much like he himself felt, but at least she seemed to be okay. Honestly, he didn't know why he felt so worried. After all, it was just water! Sure, it had felt a little weird to be in spring that seemed to grow as he swam to its edge, but it was still just water. Even so... it was only after he had caught onto the edge of the spring that Link realized that his feeling that something was different was not going away... in fact, it was only growing stronger.

"LINK?!" Tatl exclaimed, chiming about as she caught sight of her partner... or... at least who she THOUGHT was her partner if his outfit and voice were any indication. But this was… well only one way to find out. Zooming over to him she asked "Link is that YOU?!"

"Tatl!" Link glanced over to his fairy companion, managing the slightest of smiles at seeing that she Ciela and Leaf appeared to be okay. Her question for him though… both her phrasing and her tone worried him. "Of course it's me!" That coupled with the feeling he was starting to get in his arms from where he was holding onto the edge of the spring caused him to start as Sheik called both his name and that of his future nametwin… and that was when he caught sight of the giant black and white bear opposite Sheik… who… seemed to also be quite a bit larger for some strange reason. Maybe his perception was just off? … yeah, that had to be it.

The bear did not seem to be taking the first chance to attack, so that meant they still had the chance to take an early advantage if it meant them harm. "What?! A bear?! Sheik! I'll back you up!" Before Link could pull himself out of the water though, a sharp grunt to his right caused him to whip his head around…. and once he saw who -- or rather WHAT -- was next to him, his jaw dropped and his eyes widened. A small pig was hanging onto the edge of the spring next to the one he was sitting in… but this pig was sitting where Link had been standing… and it was wearing his hat. … … … Oh Farore… there… there was no way…

"Link, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! STOP!!" Tatl shouted, chiming furiously at the pig that suddenly hauled itself out of the water and began to roll rapidly right towards the bear.

As his fairy companion tried to get the attention of the pig Link's eyes just widened even more. "Wait… LINK?!" So… THAT REALLY WAS LINK?! He had transformed into a pig?! But… how was that possible?! There wasn't anything around to curse him was there? Unless… there was something in the water that had done this to him?

… And Link himself was also in the water. In a split-second, he hoisted himself up and out… right before promptly tumbling over himself. Okay, that was not as graceful as he had expected… he might not have had his Zora Mask on, but he could still haul out without a problem! Maybe he was just shaken up from having fallen in the spring… that had to be it. Although as he shook his head from where he was sitting there, Link soon caught both the strange feeling of his ears being much longer than usual… right before he noticed his feet in front of him. Wait… HIS FEET?! But where were his boots?! These were long, padded, and slightly clawed feet… just like… just… like…

"What?!" Link immediately held his hands out in front of him, only to gasp once he saw that instead of the pair of hands he was used to seeing, he now had much shorter arms, and at the end of them were small paws covered in pink fur… just like his feet… just…. like… small or not, his paws flew up to pad his face, right before reaching up to his ears with even greater urgency. Okay, Hylians all had long, pointed ears, but the length he was feeling here was ridiculous! It was almost as though he had left on his bunny hood and was… wait a minute… bunny hood. Those two words caused the Hero of Time's eyes to widen significantly, and only now did the full concern from Tatl and Sheik's voices sink in.

His future nametwin was not the only one that had changed… Link had too.

He was used to feeling differences in his form with the transformation masks he used, but he had never felt anything quite like this. Even as time seemed to slow down around the presence of the bear before Sheik and the sudden rolling of the transformed Hero of Winds, this Link was rather shocked to confirm just what had happened to him.

He was a rabbit… he had turned into a pink rabbit.

Goddesses… how was he going to get out of this mess?!

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Fri Jun 21, 2013 8:21 pm

Sheik whipped his head around as soon as he caught the sound of Ciela's voice, soon spotting both her and Leaf above his head. Even as confused as he was by the sudden crack in his voice, he was at the very least relieved to see that the two of them and Tatl were all right. His hand still on his throat, a quick glance about the area confirmed that Impa, Link, and Link were still submerged in the springs... hopefully they were all okay...

His red eyes still wide both from the surprise of his voice acting up as well as the instant appearance of these springs, Sheik glanced over to Ciela at her reassurances and question, right before shaking his head a bit. "I don't know... these springs just appeared out of nowhere. I didn't even sense them until I was already falling into one." He took a moment to cough and clear his lungs a bit more before asking, "Are you three all right?"

Whilst Leaf flew about to check for the others and Tatl scanned the area, Sheik blinked a couple of times, inwardly wondering just why his voice sounded slightly different. It thankfully hadn't cracked when he answered Ciela, but it still sounded... deeper. The perception of his own voice coupled with wanting to make sure he was okay was what first prompted him to check his ears, and it was only after he felt the subtle difference across his chest that he managed to nod in response to Ciela's next question.

"Y-yeah... I'm fine," replied Sheik somewhat uncertainly, looking back to the Spirit of Courage for a moment... right before he registered that his body had definitely changed. The blush across his cheeks had just barely begun to fade when suddenly, a different form burst forth from the spring next to him. Sheik whipped around only to blink and gasp slightly in disbelief once he saw who, or rather, WHAT was next to him… it was not a familiar face… no, instead, it was a large, black and white bear.

And once he caught a better look at the bear, he realized that the face was actually far more familiar than it should have been… the red eyes and accented eye markings alone proved that, the stunned look in the bear's eyes only adding to that. Time seemed to slow down as realization started to dawn on him, and no sooner had Ciela called his name than had the disguised princess-turned-prince caught sight of the collar that the bear was wearing. It was an armored one extending further down the neck, the Eye of the Sheikah clearly engraved on it.

This… this was not just any collar… and this was not just any bear.

Sheik heard both Ciela's warning and Leaf's own battle cries clearly, but he was too stunned to do much more than stare at the bear, soon pulling himself from that once he found his voice again, exclaiming, "IMPA?!"

As the two locked eyes and his transformed guardian growled softly to him, Sheik was positive the the was not the only one that had been transformed. But if he was now a boy and Impa was now a bear… what did that mean for Link and Link?

The sinking feeling in his stomach was soon proven true when his ears perked up at the sounds now coming from another nearby spring. Gasping again, Sheik whipped around just in time to see a small, round, pinkish pig splashing about in the water… somehow not losing his very, VERY familiar green hat in all the flailing.

"Link?!" Sheik could hardly believe his eyes… the Hero of Winds appeared to be all right, but he too had been transformed… and between his own exclamation and the stunned call from Ciela and Leaf, it seemed that her friend did not yet realize his own predicament yet. The older boy's gaze soon caught him with a pleased snort, right before he too caught sight of Impa. Sheik blinked, his red eyes going wide as he realized that his best friend did not yet recognize the transformed Sheikah… nor did the newly surfaced Hero of Time.

Sheik caught Link's voice as he quickly looked over towards the spring he was still sitting in, nearly doing a double take once he saw what had become of him too. "L-Link?! I… I'm fine… but… are you?" Unlike Impa and the older Link, he could still talk, and he still had both his hat and his tunic… but he too had changed forms. Red eyes blinking in disbelief at the pink rabbit that was his other best friend, Sheik wound up staring again and trying to process all of this as Tatl asked the obligatory question. Transformation aside, Link did seem to be okay… and both he and the older Link seemed set to help him take on the black and white bear that was also here.

Quickly looking between Impa and his friends, Sheik instantly caught that the older Link was starting to haul out of the spring, his gaze still locked on Impa. The younger boy-turned-rabbit clambered out of the spring, only in time to trip over himself. As for Sheik, he barely had the chance to do much than switch his focus back to the Hero of Winds… just in time to see him starting rolling on a direct collision course for Impa. Sheik fully trusted his guardian here, but right now, he was more afraid of his friend ending up hurting himself or even falling into another spring, so he was set to act as wel.

"Link! HOLD ON!" Sheik called, echoing Tatl's own alarmed cries. He moved to quickly climb out of his own spring, his wide eyes and blush returning in full force as he got to his feet. New body or not, this wasn't so bad… just different… that's right, it wasn't that … … … okay, it WAS kind of strange, at least at the present time, but not bad.

Shaking his head twice to jump back to the matter at hand, Sheik prepared himself to help Impa calm Link down and make some sense of this thoroughly confusing situation.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Impa on Fri Jun 21, 2013 8:24 pm

Luckily for Impa, Sheik seemed to recognize her within mere moments despite her transformed state. Given her charge's own keep perception, she was not too surprised, but it was still reassuring considering the sudden turn of very disconcerting events that had befallen both her and the disguised princess turned prince. The unmistakable look of realization in her charge's red eyes helped keep things at least somewhat under control when Ciela called for Sheik to get out of the water… and then Leaf jumped into battle mode. Oh sweet Din…

"Rrrarrr!" Impa roared, quickly shifting her focus to Leaf in an attempt to help him see that bear or not, she meant no harm. It was far more important for him and Ciela to realize that she was not a danger to them than it was for them to recognize her, but shortly after Sheik called her name out in surprise, all three fairies seemed to catch on that it was in fact her that stood before them. Growling softly as though to help prove to them that yes, she was still herself despite the fact that she was a bear, Impa was soon the first to perk up at catching the sound of a small animal from one of the adjacent pools.

Her red eyes going wide once she caught sight of the older Link splashing about in his own spring as he tried to stay afloat, Impa immediately caught just what had happened to him. This coupled with what had happened to her and Sheik all but confirmed for her just what they had quite literally landed in… but curses or not, the most important thing right now was to check on her three charges. "Growf!" Impa exclaimed in place of what would have been Link's name. Unfortunately, unlike Sheik, Tatl, Ciela, and Leaf, he did not seem to realize what had happened to him… much less that the bear he was now staring at was in fact herself.

Whilst the Hero of Winds tried to pull himself out of his own spring, the Link from her own time surfaced from another one… but even though he appeared to be okay and, unlike herself, still capable of speech for some reason, he too had been transformed. He still had his trademark hat and tunic, but he had been changed into a small, pink rabbit. Sheik and Tatl both voiced their own surprise over seeing him as he was now, and that soon prompted a growl from Impa. She followed that with another, deeper one as she caught the Hero of Time's own readiness to jump into battle, desperately hoping that the two boys would recognize her sooner rather than later. From what she could tell so far, it was understandably tricky, but hopefully the collar of her armor would help out at least a bit… or at least help the fairies if it fell to them to convince the two boys.

"Grrrr…." Impa narrowed her gaze slightly, still trying to sort out this situation, but before she could ponder it much more, she suddenly looked back to the older Link, just in time to see that he had made it out of his own spring… and that he was rolling right for her. Tatl and Sheik's calls to him fell on deaf ears as the boy turned piglet was set on a course straight for her, but even though she was not used to her own bear form just yet, Impa was determined to help stop Link in his tracks before he inadvertently hurt himself. Growling as she locked her red gaze on the lad, Impa reached out with her large paws the instant that Link was in reach, soon carefully catching him on the sides and getting a good grip on him, instantly stopping his rolling motion.

Letting out a sharp exhale through her nose and feeling a bit of relief at having caught him, Impa regarded Link from where she held him in her paws. Oh Farore… this really was the young hero… she had known it the instant she had spotted him over in his spring, but to see him here, right in her paws… it only made what had happened to the four of them all the more real. These curses… they were as sudden as they were mysterious, and hopefully, once they had all managed to get a hold on the situation, they might better be able to sort things out… both for the present and for reversing all of this.

Before Link could squirm too much, Impa quickly climbed out of the spring, now standing at her full, new height of 6'0", and still holding the boy turned pig in her paws. Only once she felt she could safely pass him over, and only once Sheik had climbed out of his own spring did Impa growl and nod to her charge, soon handing the Hero of Winds over to the disguised princess turned prince. She figured that the one of them who was still their original species would at least still be instantly recognizable, and hopefully… that familiar face would help snap Link out of his battle mode and into what was actually at hand here.

Post by Wind Waker Link on Sat Jun 22, 2013 3:37 pm

Link was vaguely aware of somebody calling his name and telling him to stop his charge. That was absurd! Why should he stop? It's a boss bear! A HUGE ONE! He'll need every bit of speed and strength to bring it down. Wait, but it was Tatl who spoke up and the fairy wouldn't stop him from taking down a dangerous enemy unless there was something wrong. Sheik's voice soon joined, followed by his own fairies' and... was that growl from the bear? It wasn't threatening his friends, right?!

Also, why was he seeing so much peachy-pink colour instead of green on himself?

WAIT, he wasn't rolling naked was he?! Was that why they're yelling at him to stop? Because he was not clothed? HE WAS ROLLING NAKED AT AN ENEMY BEAR?! Scandalised, he would have considered stopping to find out if this was true but one, it was more difficult to stop his rolling than usual. One, it felt like his body was rounder of something; two, should he value safety over decency? He didn't have time to think on that as before he even reached the end of point two, he gave out a squeal that sounded nothing like his own voice and something grabbed his sides. He was lifted off the ground.

FARORE! OH NO! HE WAS CAUGHT! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

There was a lot of loud panicked squealing as he squirmed in the bear's grip, his hands trying to smack at the creature's wrists in hopes of maybe hurting it into releasing him but the bear's thick fur cushioned all his attacks. SWORD! He need his sword!

"Link! Calm down! It's Impa! Stop it! Stop squirming! Goddesses, you're not this noisy when you're a boy."

HOW WAS HE TO REMAIN CALM IN THE GRIPS OF A GIANT BEAR?! Have you seen the size of this thing? It's HUGE! It's like...like...Puppet Ganon size compared to him! And what's that about Impa? Ocean King, did something happened to Impa? Did this bear DO something to Impa? YOU BETTER NOT HAVE TOUCHED IMPA! Right, this bear was going DOWN.

Just as the piglet was about to twist and sinks its teeth into the bear's paws, Link found himself suddenly in the hands of another. Shei--

"SQQQQQQQQQQQQUUUURRRRRRRR!?" shrieked the piglet as a very large version of his friend loomed in front of him. He froze and stared. What is? What's... HUH?!

The transformed boy twisted in Sheik's grip, once again trying to get free. What was happening? Sheik was humongous! This didn't make sense. Unless that was NOT Sheik?

"Would you just calm down already?" fumed Ciela and Link suddenly found the Spirit of Courage perched on his nose, her wings and glow blocked out the view of everything. He snorted and shook his head to get the fairy out of his face. Ciela clung on and to the small pig's horror, pressure was applied to his snout and he yelped at the pinch. "Stay still and listen or I'm going to pull at your ear," threatened the fairy, patience thinning.

With an angry grunt, Link forced himself to stay still, vision still completely blocked by not only Ciela now but also Leaf who had taken to land on the other side of his left eye so he must close his eyelid to stop the spirit from sitting on his eyeball itself.

The piglet puffed, ears flattening against its round head. What was so pressing that he must put panicking about his friends' safety on hold? There's a boss bear RIGHT THERE! Unless it goes into a monologue about how it wants to conquer the land with its black and white giantness, it wasn't entirely safe for them to sit still and be calm.

"Link, it's all right, really. Listen to Ciela." said Sheik, reminding Link all over again that his friend was gigantic. Please let that actually be his friend and not a giant doppelganger.

Ciela turned slightly and bobbed her thanks to Sheik. The fairy turned back to the piglet whose vision she still blocked. "Link, everything is fine. You don't have to panic. The bear is... look, you all fell into springs and there's something wrong with them. You're all now cursed. Link, you're a pig. It's not because the bear is gigantic. It's because you're small. The other Link is a rabb- IT!?"

The fairy was suddenly off Link's snout as the piglet's eyes widened at her words and shook his head so sharply that both Ciela and Leaf were sent tumbling in the air. Link grunted. CURSED?! A PIG? A RABBIT?!

His eyes landed on Sheik first. She was a giant! And he was... tiny in her hands?

"Sqkt-sqt," snuffled the pig as he looked at himself for the first time since he fell into the spring. Oh......Ocean King.... he was naked indeed but that was the least of his concerns. In fact, it was very far from being the forefront of his concerns.

The pig gave a soft disbelieving snort as he pat his own round belly with his hooves. HOOVES. He had HOOVES. Said hooves then reached up and touched his snout, his ears and then pulling his hat round to look at it in utter confusion. How can he lose all his clothes and still have his hat? Link wriggled his feet. Farore. Nayru. Din. Ocean King. Great Sea! He. Was. A. Pig!

"Well at least he's not panicking," remarked Ciela as the piglet cast a wide eye look of concern to Sheik. Zelda was still okay - that's good.

    "I still like Impa's curse more. It's more....grawr."

The pig blinked. Impa's curse...IMPA'S curse. The innkeeper turned his head, narrowing his eyes at the bear, still not trusting it. Where WAS Impa? Link snorted and tried to turn back to grunt his question to the disguised princes--..........was that..... a collar on the....be...ar?

His eyes widened and he looked the black and white bear from head to toe. "Sq...errg?"

THAT was Impa?! But... aa.. but.. she was.. he..HUH?!

    "Yes, that's Impa, Link."
"ISN'T SHE COOL?! GRAWR! GROWF! GRRRR!"
    "And Link is a rabbit."

Link snorted in disbelief once more, swivelling to stare with increasingly wider eyes at the rabbit on the ground. He had paws! And fur! He... why was Link PINK? And still clothed? Wait, he could TALK?!

The piglet made a few noises, hooves tucking in to touch his own mouth and throat. He could only make pig noises. How come the other Link could talk and none of the others could? This... wasn't making sense. Was this a dream? The pig stared at his own hooves, wondering if he could pinch himself with these new limbs.

    ....

    ....

    ....

CHOMP. He had put a corner of his hoof into his mouth and bit down. "Qqqqqquuuuuuuur!" IT HURT! IT'S REAL!

Ciela was onto him instantly. "I PINCHED YOU ALREADY, DIDN'T I?!"

Meanwhile, Leaf collapsed into fairy giggles at the action. Link snuffled sheepishly, snorted once, then twice and  started patting at Sheik's wrists. He was ready to be put down now.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Link64 on Tue Jun 25, 2013 8:40 pm

Link was very relieved to confirm that Sheik was okay, but the tone of her voice when she posed the same question suddenly gave him new cause for concern. Did he... not look okay? He felt a little weird now that he thought about it, but overall he supposed he felt fine... especially considering that he had just recovered from suddenly falling into a spring that had just appeared underfoot.

Those thoughts were quickly thrown to the back of his mind as the confusion of seeing and realizing just what had happened to the older Link set in, although they came shooting right back to the fore the instant he had tripped over himself and figured out exactly WHY he had felt a little off. He had been cursed before, he had been turned into other forms before... but this... this was entirely different from anything he'd ever experienced. He was used to initially feeling smaller whenever he'd gone back in time back in Hyrule, and even more so whenever he would don the Deku Mask... but this was far different from even that... it felt... somewhat familiar, yet at the same time, entirely different... and that only intensified as he got a better look at himself.

Link's eyes widened significantly once he realized that whilst he did still have his hat and tunic, his shorts were mysteriously absent... oh goddesses, that was... well, at least he was covered in fur, but... if he was a rabbit, why was he a pink one and why could he still talk? Shouldn't his voice have changed the same way it did whenever he turned into a Deku Scrub, Goron, or Zora?

Before Link could question this development too much, he bolted upright at catching the loud, panicked squealing from the older Link, and whilst part of him still could not believe that was his friend, right now, he was more focused on the fact that the giant, black and white bear had captured him. Growling a bit as he got back to his feet, he tried to run forward to help Sheik against the boss bear, right before he promptly stumbled, thankfully catching himself on his front paws. Oh Farore, these feet were going to take some getting used to... but considering the transformations he was already familiar with, he was sure he would be able to adapt just as quickly to this as he had to those.

Both Tatl and Sheik had called for the Hero of Winds to wait, but as it was, Link could not tell if they knew that this was not an enemy to charge straight for or if there was another reason they wanted him to stop. If only Impa had surfaced, then she could... wait... where was Impa?! She'd just fallen into the springs like they had right? And he knew she could hold her breath for a long time, but... no, something didn't feel right, and it made the fur on the back of his neck stand on end just thinking about it. Had something ELSE happened to her?!

Charging forward on all fours for the moment, Link skidded to a halt just before he caught up to the newly hauled out Sheik... right as he heard Ciela's exclamation to Link. Wait... that bear... WAS IMPA?!

"Darnit Link, stop struggling and just LISTEN!" Tatl swooped in, chiming furiously as she tried to help Ciela get the Hero of Winds to focus on them. This entire mess was bizarre enough on its own, they didn't need the added chaos of a flailing boy-turned-pig!

Meanwhile, Link's jaw dropped in disbelief as he looked to the imposing bear, his eyes widening once he spotted the familiar armor piece that it wore around its neck… and saw the unmistakable eye markings that accented the black circles around its eyes. If that was not enough, the way that he carefully passed the older Link to Sheik seemed to prove this... wow, that... that curse seemed just as if not more imposing than his own Goron form!

Tatl was glad that she did not let out a sigh of relief once Impa passed the boy-turned-pig to Sheik, given the fact that he immediately renewed his efforts to try and get free. Cursing under her breath, Tatl just chimed again and lit up by the disguised princess's head as the Spirit of Courage caught a grip on Link. "Listen to her or I'll pull the other ear too." This Link might have been Ciela's, but the Terminian fairy was not afraid to step in and help get him under control if needed.

Thankfully, Ciela's threat seemed to do just the trick, and with the added words from Sheik, the older Link finally calmed down long enough to listen to the Spirit of Courage. As Tatl sighed and looked the four of them over, she wondered inwardly how this all happened, if this mess was permanent, and why nothing seemed to have struck the disguised princess. It was kind of a relief that at least ONE of them had emerged from this without turning into some kind of animal, but that did not take away from the fact that something incredibly strange had happened here.

Link let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding once Ciela seemed to get through to his older nametwin, his gaze soon shifting to Sheik as she held their friend. His blue eyes widening when the fairy explained that they were all cursed, he felt a familiar shudder go down his spine, but whilst he, Link, and Impa seemed to have been met with a terrible fate, he was immensely relieved that Sheik appeared to be fine. There did seem to be a lot of concern in her eyes, and he hoped that despite their current state, they had not worried her too much… before he could better check on the disguised princess though, the older Link suddenly jolted in her hands.

"Ah!" He might have been on the ground, but right now, Link was not sure what to expect from the older boy, so he had startled a bit at his quick action. As the future Link got a better look at himself, this Link took the chance to do the same for and Impa, his jaw dropping once more now that he was actually on the ground a few feet away from the Sheikah-turned-bear. Oh Farore… Impa… … … Link had seen bears before, but never any of this pattern, and certainly not any that appeared this gigantic. Granted, much of that had to do with his own current stature, but right now… Impa's bear form still almost made most Gorons seem small to him.

The older Link seemed to be just as stunned as he was, but around Ciela's reassurance and Leaf's ecstatic exclamations, this Link soon perked up at being referenced. To hear what had happened to him stated so… bluntly… that just made this bizarre turn of events all the more real. How… how had these springs transformed them? And… how were they going to change back? … IF they could change back…

"Great, this is worse than the Deku…" Tatl mumbled.

Tatl's remark snapped the Hero of Time from that line of thought, causing him to quickly shift his focus  to his fairy companion. "Hey! It is not! This was just… more of a surprise…" Link reasoned, although admittedly, he wasn't as sure of himself once he had spoken. He still wanted to stay confident in the face of this, but… this felt different from the other forms he had taken in the sense of the way it had happened. He couldn't quite describe it, but it still felt different enough that whilst the use of the Song of Healing had just now run through his mind, he wasn't sure if it would work here…

Pulled from that thought by the older Link's pained cry, Link laughed a little sheepishly at Ciela's exclamation. Once Sheik sat their friend down, Link glanced from her to the boy-turned-pig, his expression softening a bit as he got and even better look at his older nametwin. One of his paws outstretched, the Hero of Time asked, "Are you okay, Link?" He meant that as far as the curse went as well as his own injury there… they might have all wound up in a strange event, but the least he could do was check on his friend after the whirlwind turnabout he had just experienced there.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Zelda/Sheik on Wed Jul 10, 2013 6:23 am

Sheik watched as Impa caught the rolling Link with ease, and he couldn't help but breathe a slight sigh of relief that he was at least secure in her grip now. That sense was somewhat short-lived though as the boy-turned-pig immediately began to squirm with all of his might in an attempt to break free. Not even Ciela's voice seemed to be breaking through to him, but just as he was about to try and bite Impa's paws, the disguised princess-turned-prince perked up at catching a growl from his guardian. He quickly nodded back to her, right before Impa placed the older Link into his hands.

"It's okay, Link," said Sheik, hoping to reassure his friend as he got a good hold on him. "It's just me!" The two locked eyes and for a few moments, he was quite still… but it was still a good thing that the disguised princess-turned-prince had got Link steady so quickly.

After the older boy let out a stunned squeal and froze for a few mere moments, he began his twisting and thrashing anew. "Ah!!" Sheik quickly adjusted his hold on the Hero of Winds, holding him a bit closer to himself right before Ciela darted in to help snap him out of his panic. Between the effective words and pinch of the Spirit of Courage, Sheik was able to relax slightly whilst still keeping a strong hold on his friend.

Only once Link puffed and laid his ears back did Sheik catch a good chance to speak again, stating, "Link, it's all right, really. Listen to Ciela." He was a bit surprised that his voice did not crack at any point in that reassurance, but at the same time, he couldn't help but widen his eyes a bit at catching the very, very slight difference in his voice. He had already heard that aspect of the change by now, but even so… was this… what he sounded like as a boy?

Sheik pulled himself from that after a second in time to return Ciela's grateful bob with a nod of his own. Thankfully, Link did calm down, and just in time for the Spirit of Courage to help explain just what had happened to all of them. The disguised princess-turned-prince listened just as if not more intently than his friends did, his brows creasing somewhat sympathetically when Ciela said that something was wrong with the springs. That was certainly one way to describe them… their appearance could have been as easily explained as a new area arriving on the Breach, but that did nothing to explain just how they had cursed them.

    ... Cursed.

Ciela had hit the rusty switch on the head... that was exactly what had happened to them. That made enough sense even with as confusing as this all was, but it did not answer the next two questions that finally made their way through his own swirling thoughts. How had these springs transformed them, and were these curses permanent?

Sheik's red eyes went wide as everything that the second thought meant hit him… were they all going to be stuck like this? Could they change back at all? And if they could… how could they?

Before he could think too hard on that though, Link suddenly shook his head sharply enough to fling both Ciela and Leaf off of him. Moving to better stabilize him in his grip as they locked eyes again, Sheik watched as the older boy finally realized and confirmed just what had happened to himself. A few moments later, he caught the look of concern from his friend still in his hands, right before he nodded to him, hoping to show that even though he was cursed, even though he was a boy, he was still herself and okay.

Ciela did have a point, and even at his own amusement at Leaf's sentiment, Sheik sympathetically glanced up to Impa. Admittedly, she did have a rather impressive curse… although he still hoped that she would be able to reverse it soon. Link seemed to finally catch just what Ciela had been trying to tell him about the Sheikah-turned-bear, and within all of this new chaos, that was something of a relief. As the Hero of Winds snorted in disbelief at confirming that and at catching the younger Link's own curse, Sheik sighed a bit to himself, inwardly feeling rather grateful that the Spirit of Courage had not mentioned his own curse yet. It was one thing for them to realize it… but for some reason, just outright mentioning his curse felt a little awkward at the moment.

From where he still was in his grip, the older Link soon made a few noises before looking down at his hooves, right before promptly chomping down on one of them. Sheik made sure to hold him steady even as he squealed in pain, and he simply looked to his friend sympathetically as Ciela jumped onto him. He perked up just a bit at feeling his wrists being patted, and he soon nodded to the boy-turned-pig before carefully setting him down.

As Sheik stood back up to his full height, he could hardly believe just how small Link and Link seemed now with their new curses. Whilst the two boys-turned-animals checked on each other, things did at least seem to be calming down from this incredibly strange turn of events. Now that he actually had a chance to catch up to his previously racing thoughts, Sheik glanced over to the three fairies before turning to Impa with a concerned look. "Impa… is this… are we… stuck like this?"

There was something about this affliction that did not quite feel permanent, but even though he could not put his finger on it, Sheik felt he had to ask, for all of their sakes. The springs were new, but hopefully… Impa would be able to tell if they could at least change back to their true selves.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: The Cursed Springs

Post by Impa on Sat Jul 13, 2013 6:09 pm

Impa had caught the transformed older Link with ease, but as was to be expected, despite her firm grip on him, he still began to struggle valiantly in an effort to break free. She was not surprised in the slightest that he did not recognize her immediately, and regardless of his many attempts to hit her wrists to make her drop him, she held him steady as she moved to haul out of the spring she had fallen into. Even as Ciela's words did nothing to break through to him, the Sheikah-turned-bear was just as determined to help him snap out of this, and before he could attempt to bite her, she carefully yet quickly placed him in Sheik's hands.

As Link froze at catching just how large Sheik now appeared to him, Impa flicked her gaze over to Ciela and gave her a grateful nod for at least trying to help calm the older boy down. That proved to be only her first attempt at such as once the Hero of Winds began to twist in Sheik's grip, the Spirit of Courage was on him in an instant. Link tried to shake her off but Ciela wasn't having it and in short order appeared to have pinched his snout. Between the efforts of the three fairies and Sheik's own added words, the boy-turned-pig managed to calm down long enough to listen to the yellow fairy's explanation… or at least the first part of it.

The realization that they were all cursed appeared to have hit the older Link harder than a charging Moblin as his sudden surprise soon led to him shaking both Ciela and Leaf off of him in one swift motion. Impa's red gaze narrowed slightly as the boy-turned-pig caught and confirmed the way that his own form had changed… just how had these springs changed them? It was not any form of magic or curse that she herself was familiar with, but the sudden, unexpected nature of the transformations was even more confusing than the appearance of the springs in the first place.

Now that Link had calmed down, thanks to Leaf's admittedly amusing remark regarding herself, it seemed that he finally realized that she was in fact right before him. As the boy's eye's widened and he let out a confused snort, Impa simply nodded strongly to him. "Rrrr." Bear or not, cursed or not… the same as her charges, she was still herself.

Even as the Hero of Winds gawked at confirming that the large bear before him was the Sage of Shadow, Ciela was quick to confirm the curse… right before Leaf decided to voice more of his own thoughts on her new form. Impa could barely suppress the slight curl of a smile at his own growls… at least the fairies were taking this a bit better now that things had been sorted out. That continued as Ciela brought the older Link's attention back to the younger Link's own curse, but after he had stared at the Hero of Time's own cursed form, he moved to promptly bite down on one of his hooves as though to see if any of this was really happening or not.

His loud squeal and Ciela's sharp reprimand proved everything, though… they HAD been cursed… and this was all very, very real.

As Sheik set the older Link down and the younger Link moved to check on him, Impa glanced to the disguised princess-turned-prince at his question. Her expression softened at catching every undertone of concern in his now slightly deeper voice, and although the curses did not appear to be permanent, her heart still sank for her charge. Worse yet, there was no way she could truly communicate anything more descriptive than a simple shake of the head.

… At least, not on her own…

"Grrr…." Impa growled softly, shaking her head a few times to at the very least confirm that no, they were not going to be stuck in these cursed forms. A moment later though, she blinked in surprise at catching a certain very familiar item on the ground by one of the springs… one that it seemed a certain Hero of Winds had had out before they had all fallen into these cursed waters. It was his digiglass.

Hoping that Link would not mind too much if she borrowed it for the time being, Impa growled a bit more as she reached over to pick up the tablet, her red eyes widening a bit as she realized just how she was holding the digiglass. Her paws were definitely ursine in nature, but she was able to grip the digiglass even better than she had predicted… namely in part to a thumb-like joint just past her actual thumbs. Well that was interesting… and certainly very useful.

With the digiglass in her grip, Impa moved to carefully write on its surface with her right index claw. It proved to be a bit tricky given the larger size of her paws relative to her hands, but at the very least, her claw was proving capable of writing smaller, reasonably neat text. After she had managed to pen her response, she turned the digiglass around to the others, revealing what she had clawed out. "No, we are not stuck like this. I cannot say exactly why, but these curses do not feel permanent to me. They can be reversed… it will just be a matter of figuring out how."
