    Exploration

Man, it had been a long trek down a winding road to get here. Hazama had only come here, too, because he'd been exploring, looking for useful places. Maps were handy, but they weren't enough when it came to knowing worlds. They just gave a general outline, and it was much better to be able to know what to expect. At least the Hierarchical Cities back where he came from all had more or less the same layout; he was able to know exactly where to go in the Novus Orbis Librarium branches and how to get there because the cities were all exaaaactly the same. Sure, a bit of variety was nothing bad, but everything being similar like that did have its merits.

Nonetheless, it just meant more exploration time. Honestly, exploration wasn't bad. Plus, he used to be a Captain in an Intelligence Department; gathering intelligent was his specialty. Knowing all his terrain was the best thing he really needed, especially when it came to pulling off the thing he'd planned. He just needed to find the right technology to allow him to turn someone, anyone, into a puppet. Then he could put a scare in anyone. Yes, he'd been paying attention and he had a plan. He wasn't going to find someone to help him with technology easily, though... what he would do for Relius right now. That guy had been a godsend in terms of stuff like this. Hazama did have enough knowledge of technology to build some pretty damn deadly things using anything he could find, he just preferred to do it with Relius because it was easier to do so with a guy that had enough knowledge to turn his own daughter and wife into puppets and weapons.

"Man, it is cold." Hazama complained, not really caring about the temperature. This place was full of snow, huh...? He glanced around. It wasn't snowing right now (Hell, it was pretty sunny) but it was still rather cold. The Icelands were truly an expanse of white, with icy boulders around and hills in places. Well. For the most part. Hazama turned to the left suddenly, staring over an odd expanse. There was one little thing sticking out. It looked like a... fang, encased in ice...? Well, why not investigate? The green-haired man wandered over. This was stuck pretty deep in, it would seem... as if it had been there for a long time. A long, long time. Still, he set to digging. It would undoubtedly take a while, but he dug anyway.

Five minutes later, he finally unearthed the entire thing. "Oh, wow." What on Earth was it...? It had a small body, three of what looked to be fangs, (but on the underside there were many more little teeth) and the oddly transparent(ish) body had a brain in it that was visible. Hazama had never encountered anything like THIS before. It looked preeeeetty deadly. It was dead in there, sure, but he did have no way of knowing whether this type of creature was a creature that made its home here. If one of those decided to feast on him... no way would he let that happen, sure, but best to be ready, just in case. Upon checking, Hazama realised that the presence that he'd been struggling to grasp was there once more. The weapon... had returned to him. "Juuuuuust in time, too."

Holding out his arm, Hazama shouted. "Awaken... NOX NYCTORES: OUROBOROS! Return to me and slay all that stand before me with your harsh bite! Ehehehehehehehe!" With that, what looked like a dimensional rift opened near his hand and a chain flew out of it, a snake-like head at the end that had very sharp jagged 'teeth'. The chain flew out of the rift, revealing a razor-sharp tail, and it flew around Hazama many times before disappearing into a new rift that appeared near his ankles. Hazama held his hat on his head as he bent over slightly, cackling evilly before returning to normal, tone and all. "Now... I wonder how deep this snow actually goes?" He looked down. It probably went much further than where he was, anyway. He sighed. "I don't want to have to dig down deeply anywhere. This is my best suit, after all." So... he wouldn't.

"I'll just have to look around a bit more." Even though it was just him here, he was going to keep up his facade. It wouldn't pay to have someone hear him by chance. That just would not do. I mean, they probably wouldn't be believed, but he'd prefer to not take chances like that. He wasn't dumb, after all!

Hazama continued walking forward through the Icelands, not heading for anywhere in particular.

Exploring the Icelands was probably one of the more tedious parts of his Breach exploration scheme. He probably wouldn't go through the entirety of the place (that would almost certainly take months, and he really wasn't prepared to put all that time and effort into anything) but he'd go until he found a base of operations or until he found something that could be a suitable base for him. Then he'd start to look for anything that could help his chosen plan come to fruition. That was what he desired; as soon as he did that, they could start the hate. He'd love that. He wanted to see some hate from people. Besides... hate was a handy tool in a number of things. Things that most people didn't even realise it was. Him causing others to hate him was usable as a survival tactic by him, after all.

And daaaaaamn, did Hazama know how to rile up some hate.

Having walked forward for another good ten minutes, the horizon was different and everything. Well... different wasn't exactly the right word. It was still exactly the same, because this was the Icelands; all around you, there would JUST be snow. It was, however, different snow. There were quite a few differences to what was under the snow, however... differences that made serious changes to the plans of this man. He was aimlessly wandering, right? Yes, he was. Aimless wandering could prove fruitful provided you had good luck, however... and it seemed like Hazama's luck had not run out yet. He was lucky as he was clever, and it was going to pay off.

"Oh, dear. I hope this isn't pointless." Hazama mused, only half-caring. If it wasn't pointless he would be chuffed as chips, but if it was, he wouldn't lose any sleep over it. He moved on through the snow, not specifically seeing any differences in the landscape. It was just a completely flat snowy area, after all. Sure, there were a few hills here and there where snow had built up over years of snowfall, but they were all only natural snowhills that he didn't particularly care about. It would mean more to him if he could feel there were things underneath them, but he couldn't.

All he could do for now was continue moving forward, driven only by will to explore.

Hazama sighed, once again. "Boooooooriiiiiing." White, white, white! Had he entered a spacial loop or something? Ha, that'd be funny. He knew he hadn't, though. He was able to sense time and space distortion. Didn't mean he could do anything about it, but he could sense it nonetheless. That was why he knew he was just lost here. Lost, and partly not bothered whether he found his way back anywhere or not. He just wanted to find something other than the damn snow. At this point, he knew that he would be happy with any scenery he saw that wasn't white. Any scenery other than white would be a godsend, because he was capable of getting bored, despite being a very patient person.

...Okay, scratch that. He COULD be a patient person, if he was in the mood to act as Hazama.

"Can something, just a single goddamn thing just appear on the horizon already? I don't care if it's a cat at this point, just be something other than whi-" He stopped still. Dead still. "Technology... a lot of technology..." He turned to the left. He couldn't tell any specifics like exactly how much there was, how advanced it was or whether it was ALL functioning correctly. He could just tell that there was technology around, and that was all he needed to know. Sure, he might be charging in too fast for this, but he didn't care. He walked towards where he sensed technology being used. He could sense that Lambda's 'Nox Nyctores' had been a mechanical fake just by standing near her, after all... he'd have to be closer to the technology if he was going to have an easier time deciphering exactly what was going on.

Hazama got a certain distance forward, then stopped. He could feel it right around here... it must be snowed in or something. He looked downwards, and flung his right arm from the left to the right of his body. A portal appeared, and out of it shot Ouroboros, striking the snow and flying into it. Ouroboros flew downward and a 'clang!' was heard as it struck metal. "Buried that deep? What a pain..." He moved back a few metres... and started flinging Ouroboros around. He just flung it into the snow, again and again as it shoved snow out of the way with its chain repeatedly. Being a chain, it wasn't doing much. It could be launched any number of times, but it would take a while to get rid of enough snow. He was doing it steeply, as he suspected the entrance to be around here, anyway...

And he was right. He'd eventually cleared enough snow to reveal an odd door, and that was enough for him. The door had a blue energy field, but upon his Ouroboros hitting it, it had opened and a significant amount of snow had slid in. It had made the job a lot easier, but he was going to have to clean that another time. Climbing down the way he had cleared, he made his way through the open door, moving the snow that had slid in out of the way using his hands this time. It was preeeeeetty damn cold. It must have taken him another couple of minutes to get THAT out of the way (and that wasn't even all of it) but he eventually got there, and he managed to get a good view of the room.

Yeah... this place hadn't been inhabited for too long. There were tubes in the walls that had survived, but other than that the computers everywhere had been completely wrecked by something. Looked like a huge explosion... probably came from this room itself, judging by the severe scorch marks everywhere. There had been a second floor, too. It had been made out of metal railings and the like. It was actually a miracle that the door had survived as it did. If it hadn't, who knew how much more snow he'd have to clear out? "My, what a find!" There looked to be two halves of what appeared to be a containment field on the floor, too. One had been attached to the ceiling (as evident by the wires that were on top of that and attached to the ceiling), but presumably the explosion had knocked all THAT out, too. "A bit burnt and demolished, but it'll do."

Judging by the multiple doors on the walls, it looked like this place was going to be huge. "Hmm... whatever shall I do with this? This is going to take quuuuiiiiite a while to work out, let alone fix." He could manage it. He'd just require supplies. He was gonna need to go shopping, huh...? First, he'd explore. He'd explore and make sure he had a rough estimate of what exactly he needed to be able to fix as much as possible. Or maybe he should focus on this room? Judging by this room's destroyed tech, when it was fixed (and with a few personal touches from him, of course), he'd probably be able to use this to judge whether there were any missed rooms, and the tech here would probably prove useful in FIXING the other rooms. Heh, this place would be up and running in no time. He just needed a general knowledge of the areas here... and judging from the explosion, some might be caved in.

Hazama turned towards two of the doors. One was broken but open, and one was sparking as it was nearing the end of its life. The suited man headed towards the broken door, walking through calmly as he went to inspect the rest of the facility. He was going to be a while...

    It was, however, all necessary.

It sure did take a while... this area was one of the largest tunneling systems Hazama had ever encountered. Whoever... whatever had existed here before had been something that did not mind being buried under ten ton of earth and snow. Heh, he didn't particularly mind himself. It was nice and quiet... no-one around to make annoying loud noises, no-one butting into his shit, and all the time in the world to plan anything he wanted to plan. Of course, not that he needed to plan anything. He already knew exactly what he was going to do, and it had only been a few hours since his meeting with the 'doppelgänger'. Man, that had been a lot of magical energy... comparable to the Black Beast itself. It wasn't the Black Beast, however. No... it couldn't be. There was no way. The Black Beast didn't operate like that; if that was the Beast, it'd be destroying the world right now.

It was an entirely different entity, and one that was dangerous but had a sense of control. One that lived off fear.

How delightful. He loved to watch suffering, himself. Pain, suffering, torment, death... sheer terror was a favourite of his, too. Just... the look on people's faces as he destroyed everything important to them was delightful. You could say it was the entire reason he did it. In fact, he HAD stated that before. He was only yanking the H-Man's chain, though. He didn't really have a reason for causing all the torment and pain that he did. He just did it because he could. That was why he was so evil! Motives were overrated, anyway. He was the only person without a true motive behind his actions in his old universe, anyway. He had the best life out of everyone, and he dedicated it to making their lives more miserable. He was, as you could say, a pure scumbag. He didn't, however, let this show.

After all... he was a nice guy!

"What a pain..." This would take a good few months of non-stop effort to fix. The main room when you enter was his priority, though. The fact that the door had held was wonderful and all, but he needed more reinforcements than just THAT weak thing. Wouldn't want anyone stumbling in and finding what they weren't supposed to, would he? No, that would be most unfortunate. For him AND for them, mind... he'd never let them leave with their memories intact. He would enjoy feasting on those memories if he had to... but if no-one had found this in however many years it had been here, why would anyone find it now?

...He'd rather not take the chance, all the same.

But now... he needed tools. To get tools, he needed to head back to the city. The city was miles away... talk about trouble. He had to go halfway across the entire world to get back to Portal City. No joke, either. Still, he'd make an airship when he got tools and returned to this place. It wasn't as if there wasn't enough technology here to do so, anyway. Even a simple airship would do, after all. As long as it could transport him, that was all that mattered.

Still, the tools he'd have to get... this was going to be ridiculous. He'd probably spend long enough looking for the right place to go to so that he could GET tools to use in his base. Yeah, it was gonna take a day or so to get there and back, and then undoubtedly months to build this base. It'd be a while, anyway...

Hazama walked back through the main room. Still wrecked... he opened the door to outside, where it was dark and the stars were shining. He'd been here longer than he'd thought! The door snapped shut behind him, and he recognised his own imprints where he'd been walking. It hadn't snowed today, it would seem. Probably a good job, too. Before he left, he turned around and launched an Ouroboros chain. The chain faded out as it hit the door, and the door's blue energy field vanished. This was a better precaution than THAT flimsy thing. The chain wrapped itself around the door multiple times, firmly sealing it shut so that no-one could enter or exit. His job was currently done.

Hazama followed his footprints away from the base. He could sense Armagus from a mile off... so it'd be easy to find this place again for him, too.

    He'd be back.
