Eridan watched Arro's every move like a hawk. His blast had been quite a powerful one, but as Eridan had not aimed to attempt to pierce the red dragon (Nor was he very sure as to whether it would anyway) it had still not been as lethal as it could have been. As mentioned, the last thing that this young, flamboyant, purple-blooded troll needed was to really piss off this dragon and then have it claw his head off or something. Yeah, originally he wouldn't have cared about what he did to Arro. If he was the same Eridan that he had been, Arro's welfare wouldn't have bothered him. Nor would his own, for that matter. Still, after five months to mull over your decisions and spend regretting what you'd become that day, he'd changed. Not to mention he'd reviewed himself and why he was, and had been during the adventure in Sgrub, completely alone. After that, he'd realised that he had really been a douchebag and for that he'd been sorry. Killing people really teaches you something, you know?

Arro then proceeded to come at Eridan, talons looking sharp and attitude as focused and ready. The boy was trained for combat, however, and as the first swipe came he jumped and backflipped over the swipe, spinning sideways once in the air. The second swipe hit it's mark, however, and as the razor-sharp claws pierced Ampora's grey troll skin, his eyes widened and he hissed. Despite this, he was sent from doing a great acrobatic pirouette in the air to spinning as he was launched out of range of the third attack. He smashed against the chairs, but it didn't hurt even nearly as badly as it sounded. The troll got himself up, uttering one curse under his breath: "fuck" He then proceeded to shoot two more of his non-lethal scientific wand attacks Arro's way, and ran around the Olympic Stadium in the hopes of being a harder target to follow and hit.

Arro was a little too stunned to react much when Eridan started flipping and dancing to avoid his attacks. And when he had hit the bleachers he hadn't expected two more zaps of that wand to come at him so quickly. He took them with a grunt and a shudder. He noticed he had begun to bleed, that was fine, maybe it'd quicken his step. The drai shook his wings and pawed at the ground, waiting for the troll to return to the field. After firing and cursing the yuvah clamored out of the chairs. Arro tensed, ready to leap away. But instead of firing a third time, Eriden turned away from him, and started running around in circles about the field.

    "Kesem ra dob'kaxka..."

Was he thinking he would avoid a blast of fire? He could run all he wanted, but he wouldn't outrun a drakon. And something about a moving target elicited the tiniest of prey responses in the drai. He crouched low and then belted across the field, overtaking Eridan in a few strides. His body was rigid for flight, but his lanky limbs made up for it and kept him as quick as any cat. As equal a hunter on the ground as in the air. First he reached out with a talon to trip Eridan, then aimed to reach down and pluck him up in his maw. But he may have delivered the first blow a tad too well. Instead of stumbling the boy fell flat on his face and Arro ran clear past him. He blanched, glanced around sheepishly and twisted around, racing back towards his opponent. What in Agartha... that was terrible.

Honestly, Eridan should have known better too. Unfortunately, he didn't. Probably made it more fun for Arro, as the royalblood was now attempting to make this more difficult. The last thing that he'd expected was Arro to just belt past him like that, and intercept him as he was making his way around the main battlefield. Still, it wasn't like Arro could be controlled by Eridan; if that were the case it'd be a hell of a lot easier to fight him and the troll wouldn't allow himself to be at a disadvantage. Nonetheless, he was doing fairly well and if he kept this up all traces of a disadvantage would be gone, making it fair game. He just had to hope that things kept going his way, eh? Seemed oddly fitting, seeing as how his title was the Prince of Hope.

As Arro sped past and reached out with his large talon, Eridan was completely, one hundred percent unprepared and as it happened, he was more looking at the lightning-quick dragon. His thought pattern must have been something like 'shit, that was a stupid idea'. He would agree with that as the dragon's talon tripped him up. Like in the cartoon movies, however, Eridan went face first onto the frosty ground and skid juuuuuuust a tiny little bit. A couple of inches, perhaps, but those inches were important inches. Painful, important inches. After it had ended, the troll got up and shook his head, regaining his footing properly and looking at Arro.

    Waiting for him.

It was conflicting, being larger than his opponent. But size didn't equal strength or uneven odds. The troll had been putting up more than a good fight, testing him better than he'd anticipated. Arro was enjoying himself despite the ache in his sides and the dark blood bleeding down his shoulder. He hadn't tussled with anyone in a purely sporting matter for a long time. Everything before coming here had the life of the drai or others hanging in the balance. Even his youth when he had been living normally with his parents, and had spent his innocence tangling with his siblings, had been too short and ended too quickly. The boy slowly stood. But either didn't try to flee or noticed him too late. Let's try this one more time. His heart thundered and his adrenaline rose. The drakon ran his opponent down, scooped him up in his jaws and tossed him across the field, issuing a burst of flame where he landed. He didn't pause this time. He immediately jumped into the air with a few leathery wing beats and circled the arena, aiming to come at the troll from behind once he'd regained his footing. In the air, he was a torpedo, his limbs clutched close to his body and his wings curling the wind into a slipstream. He had needed this, he was clumsy, and ineffective in the breach, he needed to get better. Stewing alone in his cave was no longer an option when he still had his claws and teeth available to him. He would continue to spar and fight, and maybe that would make it easier to move on.

OH GOD ERIDAN HERE HE COMES GET OUT OF THE WAY. That said, Eridan watched Arro fly towards him and waiting until the last second (Which had worked last time he'd fought a giant beast such as this, too bad that had been a dragon-like angel rather than an actual dragon), he completely and utterly failed to get out of the way. Not a sweet dodge there, Mr. Ampora. As of such, Arro's jaws clenched on the young troll and there was nary a single action that he could do about it, although his cape was on one side and although it wasn't much, it did help a bit. He supposed he could try and ruin Arro's insides to cause him to not have a very good inside system during the fight, but that was a risk seeing as he was currently in the mouth. A wrong move and he'd be swimming in freakin' digestive juices. Yeah, he thought twice about trying anything now.

Then, after his couple of seconds of thoughts as he was being carried was over, Arro flung him to the other side of the stadium with a CRASH, and breathed fire right in his direction. How the heck did he go from average rolls to three? Kudos to you, Arro. Kudos to you. Unfortunately for Eridan, he was about to run out of AP. As luck would have it, hopefully Arro was too! That's be pretty handy for the royalblood, as he wouldn't have to worry about the fire breath or the jaws or the razor-sharp talons hurting him insanely. Anyway, in fear of being caught in another attack so soon, Eridan got up. No way in hell he'd be trying the stationary approach again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!

Wielding his wand, Eridan shot three short blasts at Arro as he leapt into the air, coming down and darting left and right as he watched Arro.

Arro rushed low and airborne around the arena, coming up upon Eridan from behind as the troll scrambled to his feet. This time the boy bolted, firing another three blasts of his strange weapon. The first caught Arro on the nose, the other two sailed inches below and above either outstretched wing. The drakon inhaled deeply and snorted. He was slowly beginning to pant, but he had energy enough for one last tilt.

Eridan leaped just as he closed the distance, and with a mighty thrust Arro corkscrewed upwards to catch him, talons extended.

He aimed to deliver a solid thwack across the yuvah's back, but of all things that could possibly occur, that purple cape slapped into face, offsetting his aim at the last second. His talons sailed harmlessly by. Arro sneezed, turned, and shot a burst of fire down after him instead. He didn't wait to see if he hit his target, he thrashed his wings vigorously through the air, circling upwards at a prodigious pace, and then transfixed an eye on the troll below. His wings shook his frame as he sailed, the massive sweep of pectorals going to either limb encircled his torso like a vast belt and became as solid as steel with every downward stroke. It was a broad target, but hit him there and it'd hurt, but it wouldn't elicit as much as a flinch. The muscle was too thick.

He wondered if the troll's weapons had a limited range, or limited ammunition. If so, Eridan better have another method of hitting the drakon way up here. Else the battle would come to a pause until they could both recharge.

Airborne (Sort-of, was jumping), Eridan paid close attention to Arro's every movement. It was literally impossible to hide from a dragon's attacks, so he was going to have to man up and take it like the Harry Potter reference that his family was. Despite this line of thinking, the troll somehow managed to get away from the dragon's talons without a scratch. Not even he knew how, however. He just knew that he'd managed to get away and whatever it was it had been a damned good escape.

...And then Arro spat fire at him. The troll didn't manage to dodge THIS attack, and consequently was burnt by the fires that had been sent his way. Burned and hitting the ground, Eridan looked pretty out of it. Yeah, he was just incredibly tired right now. And with no AP left, there was no way he could expend any more Ahab's Crosshairs ammo, let alone any wwhite wwand beams. That would just be too difficult. But would Arro attack? Since Arro was too high to get with his melee attacks, he was completely at his mercy when he decided another dive would be fun.

    So Eridan waited.

Arro wondered how well trolls could see in the dark. He recalled Karkat mentioning a nocturnal lifestyle, so most likely as well as any edam during the day. But did that extend to distance? The drakon casually drifted higher as he recuperated, slowly outdistancing the lights of the arena. Without any light upon him, he became as dark as the night sky. Moonlight and starlight was canceled out by the cities overpowering electrical essence. The drakon was primarily diurnal, but Arro could still see the troll. His daylight vision was superior to that of his night, but only in comparison to the other could anyone presume to call his night vision bad. When his pupils engorged and his eyes were consumed by blackness, he saw as well as any prowling cat or watchful owl. His brain was much larger than an edamr, not because of any difference in intelligence, but because of the huge amount of processing power simply devoted to sight. There were many downsides to having such keen senses in addition to an intellect, such as an excessively needy stomach, but Arro couldn't imagine any other setup. With his light frame, and dexterous arms and hands, the idea of an unintelligent drakon was strange and unnerving. As weird to him as the idea of a human with the intelligence of a dog would be to us.

He flapped experimentally and watched how the eyes of Eridan moved. Could he still see him? He circled silently, rising slowly with steady wingbeats to a height of 160 meters. He tracked the eyes of the troll, on the lookout for any hints of searching. He planned while he waited.

(Sorry for taking so long! I'm usually much more timely, but I've had a lot on my plate and have had to seriously prioritise. I'm sorry!)

Eridan was nocturnal, yep. The only troll that didn't come out at night and was capable of coming out in the day without severe consequence was Kanaya Maryam. She was a rainbow drinker, troll equivalent of a vampire. Anyway, even then you had to remember that Eridan did have glasses on. He could see fine, although as Arro turned as black as the night sky... you could say, it was like camouflage. The troll squinted, staying silent as he scanned the skies for his winged opponent. He would probably be able to make out Arro if he found the place where Arro was and concentrated hard enough, but other than that the dragon was safe.

    He waited.

((No problemo, real life comes first, role playing second))

Arro flapped carefully and quietly, his whiskers trailing and tickling his face in the whispering wind, hinting at how and when to lean, when to pull up, and how best to approach his target. Eridan was trying to track him, he hadn't pinned him down yet, but he was searching. His eyes would eventually notice the tiniest of shadows or a random spot of light on his scales. Arro chose to take advantage of his ambiguity rather than rest longer and be discovered. He veered behind the stadium lights, letting the glare disguise his descent, and circled while watching the yuvah turn and fidget. He waited until Eridan had his back to him before closing the distance.

There was no growling or roaring, just the ripple of wind. As quiet as he was, he wasn't an owl, he had no specialized feathers to pull of ghostly tricks. Only practice made a drakon silent in the skies. And when he was close enough he did away with the pretenses, clasped his wings around him like a cloak and dove, releasing a gout of fire upon Eridan's unsuspecting back. Orange and yellow fingers leaped into the air, illuminating his open maw with a sudden splash of light. As fire met dew soaked grass, a wall of smoke and steam was born, hiding his next move as he spun and landed. He pulled back a wing, clenched into a massive leathery fist, and drove it like a pilon towards the boy, propelling the drakon himself skyward. He loosened another wing afterwards, gripping the grass with long spindly fingers and pulled himself down to earth. Twisting, he lashed out with his tail, hoping to catch the troll in the gut. But amid the fading smoke, his target was obscured, and Arro didn't feel the hit connect.
