Nothin Like Trainin Wwith A Dragon

Eridan waited. His participant was going to be someone called Arro. Whether he was a humanoid or a completely different species, the young troll was ready for him. Little did Eridan know that this was the guy that he'd spoken pretty damn rudely to the other day. Welp, he'd said what he'd said for Arro's own safety. The royalblood wanted nothing more to do with him regarding the events that had been occurring now, especially now that he'd given his warning. If Arro got hurt (Highly unlikely judging by what Eridan had learned over thepast few days) at least this Prince of Hope could say 'I told you so'. But, he knew that wasn't the case.

In the shadows, Eridan Ampora could see quite well. By that, it's meant that he could see perfectly well, as if it were daytime. Trolls were nocturnal, and so he'd see Arro coming a mile away unless the dragon snuck up on him. As per usual, he'd dressed flamboyantly. Trolls generally thought fashion was stupid anyway, which was why Eridan had nothing but the same purple cape, striped trousers, Aquarius shirt, etc. over and over again at the hive. It was a way of defining who each person was easily, to see their clothes. The only thing that he had variety about was his jewelry. That had come from the game, and there was one in each troll's colour. So one grey for Karkat, one green for Nepeta, one blue for Equius, and the ones he was wearing right now were actually teal. That was to show that he was in a matespritship with Terezi, and he actually felt deeply red for her.

Sitting there, the troll took note of his surroundings. He awaited Arrogath's arrival...

Arro flew through the night sky with little sound or show to announce his arrival. Up here the chill winds were his loyal companions, and they ardently guarded his approach. Buildings, roads, and concrete melted beneath him in a blur. The people here diced up the landscape in a grid system, and he was high enough to see the individual patches of land. It struck him as sobering, and ugly, to see fields and grasslands partitioned up like this. Their natural growth fenced in and sliced up like a body on an autopsy table. The stadium was situated on the outskirts of the city, but retained the modern, flashy architecture. Well, not modern to him, but for this place, where most people seemed to come from the past. The structure reminded him of the amphitheaters training drakes would spar in. But much much larger, and made of steal and concrete rather than stone. It didn't meld with the landscape so much as stick out like a sore broken wing. Illuminated by bright lights, poisoning the air of the night.

The stars overhead faded away as he closed in, giving way to the stadium's own unnatural illumination. The drakon's eyes slivered in response, his engorged pupils thinning down to ovals. He was still a mile or so into the sky, but he could see the speck of his opponent waiting for him in the middle of the grassy arena. From here Arro could tell it was the male troll he had met at the graffiti site, he also shared more than a little in common with the effigy he'd come across. Hmm, this was getting interesting. What did these characters do to get someone to hate them so much? The drakon pulled up above his destination and began to dive. The arena rushed towards him. If he had kept his ears open the wind would have been roaring. He pulled up over the ring of stadium seats, snapping his wings open and halving his speed to land in a lope over the grass. His muscles visibly tensed from the sudden strain but Arro himself showed no signs of any effort.

Arro spun around once, observing the stadium from his new perspective, and then approached his opponent.

"Saav, Eridan. I'm Arro", he rumbled amicably by way of a greeting. They hadn't exchanged names during their prior meeting. Vaguely he recalled there had been a river named the Eridanos back in the Aerie... Why would an alien have an edamr name?

He looked the yuvah over. He wasn't garbed in what exactly Arro would call sparring gear. Jewelry, a cape, and colourful clothes. The drakon himself unhooked the only thing he wore, a drai's version of a rucksack, made from leather, and tossed it across the field. Whatever was in it obviously wasn't breakable. There was still the golden ring in his right ear, but that never came off.

Eridan tensed when he saw who it was. A huge, orangey-red dragon descended from the skies. THIS was Arro?! He was shocked and not amused. He had to fight a DRAGON. Oh boy, Eridan almost had second thoughts. Almost. When Arrogath introduced himself, Eridan looked at him in shock. This guy was being courteous enough to introduce himself after their prior meeting? Well, better get over that as he didn't want to hugely piss off the dragon. "im eridan ampora" After his greeting, he looked up at Arro's face. Arro truly did look impressive to the Alternian. Especially as Terezi's dragon lusus had been the only dragon he'd known of before arriving here.

"that wwarnin i gavve you next to the graffiti wwas for your owwn fuckin good and wwasnt me bein aggressivve" He told Arro. Yeah, he still meant every word of what he'd said; if he stayed near the trolls, he could very well get fucked up by Karkat or even something else. When he'd originally warned Arro, the only danger had been Karkat. Now though, he meant it even more because of all the other factors that he didn't actually know about. Now, he just had to ask Arro some questions. "so arro are you comfortable wwith duellin wwith evverythin youvve got or do you wwant to keep it to simple attacks only i havve a wwand and a gun but wwont use them if youd prefer i didnt" Wasn't like he was in any place to make demands, so eh.

    What say you?

Arro really couldn't get offended by the way Eridan spoke. As amid the slurred speech pattern and edamr slang he only understood half a word the boy said. But the intention came through clear as bells.

"It's not really any of my business" he dismissed. It seemed like their problems were consistently stuck within their own social group. As long as it didn't affect him or anyone he was fond of he should probably avoid the drama. But he wouldn't apologize for being curious when graffiti and mangled mannequins started showing up all over the place. He was restless. And naturally curious after having been thrown back into this orphanage for destroyed planet's. This manic place was the only home he had left. That didn't amount to much when everyone he knew was dead, but it was all he had. He hoped the trolls realized how lucky they were to have others of their kind here with them.

"So Arro are you comfortable wwith duellin wwith evverythin youvve got or do you wwant to keep it to simple attacks only i havve a wwand and a gun but wwont use them if youd prefer i didnt."

Arro tilted his head, momentarily surprised. Wand? A wooden stick? He dragged a talon through the grass. The idea of bullets didn't thrill him, but training was only useful if you prepared for every possible eventuality. In an actual fight his opponent's were going to try and kill him, not bloody his nose. As for the wand, well he had no idea.

"Those are fine, but let's avoid head injuries."
That was just as much for the troll's benefit as his own. He didn't care how things worked here, a crushed skull or a bullet in the brain equals dead in any universe.

Oh, curiosity? Of course Arro had nothing to apologise for, curiosity was to be expected from anyone in his situation. I mean, if you swap everything and place Arro in Eridan's place and Eridan and Arro's, the troll would do the exact same thing that Arro had after first sighting of the graffiti and look out for more while keeping his distance from the actual event. It was interesting and thrilling, even if that sounds horrible as these were death threats directed towards not only Ampora, but the entire race of trolls that lived in the hive. You just HAD to keep an eye on them, because they made you wonder what was coming next.

"got it you ready then or wwhat" Wouldn't Arro be surprised when Eridan revealed that the gun he spoke of was not actually a gun that fired bullets, but Ahab's Crosshairs, the penultimate strife rifle that shot a massive laser across the battlefield? The main reason why it was expected that he be surprised was because he'd most likely learn in battle. Not revealing his hand just yet! "time to fuckin rumble" Eridan got in a fighting stance, his Rifle Strife Specibus at the ready. Quickly he took his Ahab's Crosshairs out of its allocated captachlog card, and standing in his battle stance with his wavering cape on his back, the troll waited.

    You got first move, Arro.

"Got it you ready then or wwhat?"

Arro's eye's lit up. He nodded briskly, "Sik".

He took a quick step back, leaning his weight on his haunches.

    "Time to fuckin rumble."

Eridan whipped out a firearm. None like any he'd seen or could name, but he could bet avoiding the barrel would be strategically advantageous. Not so fast there with the draw. He didn't need that thing going off at such a close range. Arro immediately dropped and spun, his tail lashed out at Eridan's trigger finger. Aiming to knock the weapon away and open up the playing field. Failing at that he'd more likely send the troll flying, as a tail to the chest was comparable to that of a battering ram. Unfortunately for Arro, having missed completely, he simply spun back into his ready position.

Eridan waited for the dragon to come at him. He knew this was not going to be an easy fight, yet he was ready to see it through and battle him until he could battle no more. It was foolish of the troll to combat a dragon willingly in Eridan's own opinion, but as long as he would gain even a slither of power he'd be happy. They say your first few levels are the easiest... he was definitely hoping that that statement would ring true. After all, he needed to gain SOME leeway on the other trolls here! He didn't currently know which troll was the weakest other than himself, but whoever that was would be his first target to beat. He had no chance of catching Karkat anytime soon but he could try to get as close as possible!

Arro swung his tail at Eridan, but although it was a skilful swing, Eridan leapt backwards out of the way, landing on the ground stylishly. He didn't necessarily wear all that flamboyant and vibrant purple gear for the hell of it. He wore it to look good, and he'd be damned if that didn't come out properly while he was in battle. Even when no-one was around to spectate and see him looking how he wanted to look, he'd do his best. The troll gripped Ahab's Crosshairs, and as he pulled the trigger, a HUGE beam fired out at Arro. He made sure to not aim it to kill, however, as if he did that the beam was actually piercing and goodness knew Eridan did not want a reputation for mutilating a dragon. Even if he was sure that the dragon had tougher skin than most and could probably survive it.

    Ahab's Crosshairs (gun):

--One of the strongest guns you can equip in the Riflekind Strife Specibus, Ahab's Crosshairs fires an absolutely huge laser beam that is difficult to avoid due to its size and very, very powerful to the extent that it can kill a large whale with one strike. Eridan obtained this weapon that was once wielded by his ancestor Orphaner Dualscar when he explored a Ghost Ship on Alternia during a very difficult FLARPing session.

Naturally, after his failed attempt to do away with the weapon the troll immediately pulled the trigger. A gigantic flower of electric blue energy exploded from the muzzle, Arro unfolded his wings and was propelled backwards by the burst, but was injured all the same. He felt the burn in his muscles and the electric pulse sent waves through his scales. It was an unsettling sensation. He was surprised such concentrated shock-wave pulses didn't outright kill him. But in the breach the power of a weapon was linked to the hardiness and strength of the individual wielding it. It made absolutely no sense to him but that was the way of it.

He flapped twice, shook the blast off and made a loop, sailing over the troll and releasing a gout of flame. He circled once and skidded into a crouched landing, his wings outstretched and flecks of flame still trailing from his open mouth as he cut off the flow of hydrogen. Thankfully the winter frost saved the field from being set alight.

That had been some shot, Eridan thought. He'd done quite a bit of damage, but it could have been better. Still, he'd take what he could get and roll with it. Not like he had any choice. Either way, as had been stated the gun was linked to him and he felt weaker from using it stamina-wise. Time to put the gun away and take out his wand, it would seem. Besides, that gun wasn't as powerful as the wand! The wand could do more damage and would cost him much less than it cost to use the gun. Ahab's Crosshairs failed in comparison; it was really his way of getting the fight off to a good start because it was more accurate.

Then came the fire breath. Arro breathed fire over Eridan, and the young troll's eyes widened as he leapt into a well done YOUTH ROLL. The YOUTH ROLL took him through the frost and the fire luckily didn't burn him very much. He immediately pulled up his Strife Specibus in the right left corner, placing his Ahab's Crosshairs back into it. The Riflekind Specibus going off-screen, he activated his Wandkind and wielded his wand. In his hand, his entire right hand began to glow white with magical energy. Pointing it at Arro (Although it was not currently strong enough to pierce him properly), Eridan fired a thin beam of magic science. Which, by the way, was totally not magic. No way.

    Take this!

Wwhite Wwand of Science and Hope (not magic):

--This is the wand that Kanaya created for him after the trolls had been forced back into the veil by kid's session's Jack Noir. Eridan stubbornly refuses to say that it's magical, insisting that it is in fact a wand of science. Doc Scratch implies that the powers gained from the wand actually had something to do with the angels in Eridan's planet; the Land of Wrath and Angels. The wand fires a small beam that is capable of piercing right through bodies.

Blasted by a twig, that was new. Arro shrugged and hissed. The first shot missed but the others found their mark. The tiny particle beam or whatever it was burned into his shoulder and stung long afterwards. But it didn't pass through him outright as was the intention. Though if Eridan was stronger it very well might have.

Arro was beginning to sustain damage, but not enough to slow him. He spun and charged, closing the distance with alarming speed. His long thin limbs hugged the ground and his six inch talons functioned as treads. At a closer range he wagered it to be more difficult for the troll to aim and fire while avoiding blows. The drakon slashed at the troll as a boxer would a punching bag. An uppercut, a sideswipe and a thwack to send the boy flying. It was not his intention to seriously injure anyone while sparring, but the only natural weapons he had were his teeth and claws. A guarantee of scars however deep they dug.

But despite his best efforts, he was still slower than he was used to, and missed several times.
