Sheik deftly dodged the swing of the Lizalfos' blade, jumping back just in time to catch the sound of the final cry of the monster that Impa had been fighting. With one enemy down, they only had one more to go, and with three quickly fired arrows by Chell, two of them struck true… and both were just the trick to fell their foe.

The disguised princess was unable to resist grinning and pulling her fist back in triumph as the Lizalfos let out its last exclamation before falling and disappearing from sight, and only once she was fully certain that it was gone did she stand back up straight. Turning her grin to Chell, Sheik soon gave a thumbs up to her friend, glad that not only had she been able to get some unexpected practice in, but that she herself had landed the final hit.

"Great job, Chell!" Sheik said, stepping a bit closer to her as Impa also began to move towards them. "Are you all right from that?"

The battle might have been a pretty standard one against two reasonably challenging foes, but she still wanted to check on her friend, especially since the former test subject had never seen Lizalfos before. They were definitely good opponents to get practice in against, though!

And just as she had felled her own opponent, so too did Chell to the second Lizalfos that had attacked them. The monster had missed its charge at Sheik, thus leaving its back exposed so that when two of the former test subject's found their mark, it met its end. With a final cry, the Lizalfos fell forward, disappearing just the same as it scaly brethren had.

Cleaning off and resheathing her Sheikah Blade, Impa moved to step towards her charge and friend, smiling and nodding to them both as the disguised princess complimented Chell. She looked over both of them to make sure they were still unscathed, and once Sheik had given her thumbs up, Impa glanced to the former test subject, stating, "That was a very good battle… it looks as though your practice and previous skill definitely paid off. I hope you found that to be an even better sort of training."

As Sheik asked if Chell was all right, Impa glanced over the horizon, checking to see that they were still in the clear for now. Perhaps one more encounter and they could wrap things up before heading back to the inn… after all, they did not want to push their stamina too hard, and it was just as important to practice moderation as it was to practice a skill.

Once the dormer test subject confirmed her status, Impa turned to her, gesturing before asking, "All right then… unless if you're set to call it a day now, shall we see if there's one more battle we can find before we return to the city?"

Oh thank god. Immediately after landing the killing blow, Chell slumped over with a sigh, both out of exhaustion and relief. She was grateful to be able to get this practice in, and even more grateful that neither she or her friends had gotten incredibly hurt, but... well. Frankly, those had been among the more annoying enemies she had faced, and that was saying something. Thankfully, whilst in some ways they were tricky, they also hadn't been the hardest foes in the world to take down either, and the fight had finished relatively quickly with the help of her companions. She supposed that was really all she could ask for.

Straightening up, Chell caught Sheik's triumphant gesture and Impa's compliments with a smirk, and returned the boy's thumbs up with one of her own. Admittedly, she was feeling quite a bit proud too, both of herself and her friends--without them, she wasn't certain she would have faired nearly so well. At Sheik's questioning of her well being, she began to nod, before pausing and rubbing her hands over her ears, face contorting into a cringe to show that she hadn't been particuarly fond of the noises the things had made. Otherwise, she had scarcely a scratch on her body and felt fine, indicating this with a casual shrug of her shoulders once she let go of her ears.

Once she was sure the message had been relayed loud and clear, the former test subject cocked her head to the side when Impa asked if she'd like to go for one more battle, mentally weighing her options. She was admittedly kind of tired, but it was nothing she couldn't recover from, and it seemed a shame to pack up and go home after only two battles. As long as the other two were up for it, then so was she. The corner of her lip quirking up, she turned to face the pair of them and held up a single finger indicating that she'd like to go on, though she made sure to shoot them a questioning look afterward in case they had any reservations.

Sheik couldn't help but smile broadly at Impa's remarks to Chell, finding herself in full agreement with her guardian. She might not have had the same eye for certain skills or marked improvement that the Sheikah did, but her own rather keen perception and experience around training did help her to pick up on truly discernible differences. The levels between each mark were greater for her of course, but as an out-fighter herself, she could still tell that Chell had made another jump with her crossbow.

Laughing a little at the gesture to show that she had not been soon keen on the trademark cries of the Lizalfos, Sheik nodded to Chell, pleased to confirm that she was all right. "Yeah, Lizalfos have a pretty distinct set of noises… I hope they didn't hurt your ears too bad, though." The former test subject might not have had the same sensitive hearing that either Sheik or Impa did, but if a battle went on for too long, the sounds cacophony could at the very least start to become an annoyance. "I'm just glad you're all right."

At Impa's question about potentially seeking out one more battle before heading back to the inn, the disguised princess turned a curious glance to Chell. That bright intrigue soon shifted into a happy grin at catching the lip quirk that she had long since learned was a good sign for her friend. At the former test subject's questioning look though, Sheik shook her head, stating, "I'm set to press on. We should be able to recover some of our stamina along the way, and if we're too tired at the end of it, we can always warp back home."

Impa chuckled softly at catching Chell's gesture that indicated just how she felt about the racket the Lizalfos had made, but save some annoyance and a possible temporary headache, she appeared to be just fine. As the former test subject confirmed that, the Sheikah nodded to seconded her charge's statement. Regardless as to just how they appeared across annoy point in time, Lizalfos and Dinalfos seemed to always have very particular sounds… be it a battle cry or screech of pain, at the very least, they never left one any doubt for just what they were. They could prove to be tricky foes, but they were certainly perfect for training, and Impa had a very strong feeling that that fight alone would prove very useful for Chell both in the immediate and distant future.

"As am I," noted Impa, nodding to Chell at Sheik's words, right before waiting patiently as their friend thought about the two primary options presented here. Although that battle had been a little more intense than the run-in with the Moblin, something about this excursion just didn't feel quite complete, so as the former test subject seemed set to continue on, the Sheikah smiled broadly.

Once she met both her and Sheik with a questioning look though, Impa glanced to her charge before turning back to Chell, motioning to the two of them and stating, "Sheik is right. We're both set to be out here as long as you are. If we encounter a larger or more powerful enemy, it might prove especially trying… that will be a great training experience for all of us, but I will not hesitate to get us out of such a battle if our safety is placed too much at risk."

With that declaration made, the Sheikah smiled a bit more before motioning over the next hill, asking, "Well then… shall we?"

At Sheik's statement regarding the Lizalfos, Chell shrugged, the picture of nonchalance now that the battle was over and they were out of her hair. It had been annoying, but it could have certainly been worse, and it wasn't deafening in the end, which was the important thing. She could put up with something obnoxious for a few minutes as long as it meant winning.

Speaking of which, it didn't look like she was alone in her desire to press onwards. Perking up a little at her friend's responses, she nodded, oddly enough finding herself already somewhat eager to go. It was something that slightly disturbed her if she thought about it too hard--that even after enough life-or-death battles to last a lifetime, she was still craving it in a way, still chasing the rush even after she'd already achieved an idyllic enough life. Granted, it was at least partially to keep herself on her toes in case some other disaster like the most recent one befell them again, coupled with being unable to do much of anything for nearly a month, but the slight yearning for it still stood. Whether she was craving it because it was what she was used to, or simply because she was some kind of closet adrenaline junkie, she couldn't say, but it was an aspect of her personality she wasn't quite sure what to make of, at any rate.

It was not without it's benefits though, and, like Sheik had pointed out, they could always just go home if need be. Turning to Impa as she spoke, the former test subject nodded again, understanding what her friend was saying, though hoping it wouldn't come to that. If there was one thing she was not used to doing, it was... well, giving up, on a fight or otherwise. She had never been able to afford to, nor had it ever been in her nature, but the truth was that she wasn't alone anymore. There were other people and their needs to think about now, and that coupled with her not being as strong as she used to be meant that being practical might outweigh being stubborn if the situation called for it. She just really hoped the next battle wouldn't call for it. Giving her friends a thumbs up, she followed Impa's lead, making her way towards the next hill.

They traversed for a bit, allowing Chell an opportunity to catch her breath and take in more of the scenery, despite the fact that even she'd admit she was on the lookout for their next target. Every sound, every sudden movement caught in the corner of her eye made her tense, only for there to have never been anything there in the first place. How hard was it to find a monster in what was an almost completely open space like the grasslands? Turning to her friends, the woman shrugged in confusion, wondering if they were having the same trouble she was.

Sheik smiled a little more at Impa's echoing of her sentiment, and she soon nodded in agreement as her guardian touched on what they could possibly turn another enemy encounter into. The disguised princess was not quite certain what all they might run into out here, but even with as unpredictable as the Samba Heartlands could be, she knew full well that they could handle anything they might come across. Whether any potential battles wound up being with more familiar foes from Hyrule or other creatures entirely, Sheik was prepared and even a little eager for the chance to prove her skills.

Much like Link and Link, the disguised princess did not always go out seeking a battle with monsters, but she had to admit that she did enjoy a good scuffle here and there. Furthermore, in this world, knowing that each encounter had the chance to help her regain her own true power only added to that enthusiasm, and Sheik's readiness for battle had grown right alongside her prowess.

With a nod to her guardian at her promise to help make sure they would escape a battle if things got a little too dangerous, Sheik's smile turned into more of a grin at Impa's question and motion. As soon as Chell gave her thumbs up, the disguised princess said, "Yeah, let's."

The three continued across the rolling hills for quite some time, and although they all stayed on high alert for any potential monster encounters, they were definitely able to enjoy the scenery. The grasslands were not exactly Hyrule Field, but sometimes… they were just so close to it that Sheik almost felt as though she were back in her own world. Outings here with Link, Link, and Impa only added to that… and a few moments later, so did the sudden sense she was getting.

Catching Chell's questioning shrug, Sheik looked from her guardian to the next valley before them, where it seemed that something of considerable size was just about to crest the next hill…

"I don't think you're going to have to wait any longer, Chell… it looks like the next monster is already here."

The next monster monster most certainly was here, and he was not just any monster… oh no, he was a very special one. He was a lumbering behemoth that both the Sage of Shadow and Sheikah in Training would clearly recognize. The two of them might not have fought them directly, but they certainly knew of his existence even well before the Hero of Time had felled him. Those blasted Gorons had made absolutely certain of that, after all…

Here though, as the infernal dinosaur tried to heavily make his way closer to the mountains of this accursed world, he was at least finding the rolling hills of these grasslands to be interesting territory. It was not quite the field that he knew laid beyond the village at the foot of his mountain, but it did all right… and more than that, he had been able to feast quite a bit since he had begun his involuntary trek here.

And surprisingly enough, as he moved over the next hill towards a rather sizable valley, he soon spotted three new potential morsels…. they were not Gorons, no… but two were most assuredly another familiar race. Oh-ho, so they had come to this new world too…

Picking his pace up ever so slightly, the gigantic monster keyed in on the three that faced him. He could continue on towards the mountains after he had dealt with them… for now, this was one opportunity he could not squander. A taste of home! A few steps more, and he opened his red maw, roaring fiercely at them.

    "RRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOAAAAAAARRRRR!!!!!!"

    King Dodongo was here!

The trek across the Samba Heartlands proved to be uneventful enough, but as the intrepid trio continued onward, Impa soon got a very familiar feeling in the pit of her stomach. It was not simply the presence of a monster just beyond the horizon… no, it was something deeper than that. She knew this monster… and it was not just one from Hyrule. No, it had been something of a neighbor to her… but whilst the Sheikah did not have nearly the same history with it that the Gorons did, she knew more than enough about it to recognize the infernal dinosaur from the first sight of the spikes atop his back.

As their foe lumbered over the next hill towards the broad, shallow valley they were all steadily approaching, Impa saw the form of a Dodongo. He was not just any Dodongo, though… he was in fact King Dodongo.

Impa was pulled from her own focus briefly as she caught Chell's questioning look and shrug, right before she and Sheik caught each others' gaze. The Sheikah nodded to her charge before looking forward again, her red eyes narrowing slightly as she saw King Dodongo continue forward, his full form coming into view as the disguised princess spoke. Taking a deep breath, Impa noted, "That he is… Chell, we seem to have stumbled across another monster from Hyrule. This one is far stronger than the previous ones, though… this is King Dodongo."

As the infernal dinosaur spotted them and made his way deeper into the shallow valley, Impa motioned to him, adding, "He might be big, but he's far from invincible. The best strategy is to stagger him with a shock to his system, and strike even more fiercely from there. As for how to best deliver a shock…"

The Sheikah paused for a moment as King Dodongo reared his head up and let out a mighty roar, his gaping jaws giving her just the right place to point to next. With a slight smirk, she finished, stating, "… wait for him to open his mouth, and fire away."

With the strategy detailed and a confident nod to both Chell and Sheik, Impa began to charge up shadowy energy in her right arm whilst dashing forward. Her own quickened pace soon landed her just in front of King Dodongo as he was rearing back to build up a powerful flame attack, and she had barely halted her charge when she saw her mark. The Sage of Shadow moved to charge up a blast of shadow-based magic, imbuing it with the energy she had already started to build up. The instant that the monster started his intake of breath, Impa shot her attack forward right into his mouth, hoping to damage as well as shock him.

Zelda/Sheik wrote: "I don't think you're going to have to wait any longer, Chell… it looks like the next monster is already here."

    Oh. Well, okay then.

The roar that came over the plains following that sentence was nearly deafening, causing Chell to jerk and whirl towards the source of it. What she saw was... well, the only word that really came to mind was dinosaur. She wasn't entirely sure if it really was a dinosaur, and if it was, she couldn't for the life of her place what species it was (nor did she know how she knew any of the species to begin with), but it had to be something of that ilk. It was giant, hulking, reptilian, and currently lumbering towards them very, very fast. Adrenaline almost immediately kicked in, and the woman felt something of a chill go through her, hands tightening around her crossbow in an instant.

She couldn't help but wonder if it was time to start regretting her wish for another challenger.

Soon, however, Impa spoke up, prompting Chell to shoot her a sidelong glance. King Dodongo, was it? Well, it was a little comforting to know that her friends were familiar with this thing, although her mention that he was far stronger than the previous monsters made her clench her jaw just a little bit tighter. That much she could see, but where was his weak point? From her perspective, the beast's toughened skin and natural body armor would thwart any attempts her arrows made to take him down, and there was no way she was getting close enough to use her knife unless things got desperate. Almost as if reading her mind, her friend began to detail something of a strategy--striking him in the mouth, and delivering a shock to his system. Seemed simple enough. Almost a little too simple, but if it helped them get rid of this thing, who was she to complain?

With the monster closing in on them, she'd hardly have the chance, anyway. It was go time.

Taking a moment to aim her crossbow, the former test subject kept one close eye on her friend as she moved forward, following her lead without ever losing sight of King Dodongo whilst he prepared an attack. Once the Sheikah unleashed an attack of her own, Chell waited for just an instant to let it fly towards the target before unleashing a barrage of arrows, hoping she would have the same luck Impa was about to have.

Sure enough, Sheik had been correct about the next monster being here. This was not just any monster though… nor was it just any beast from Hyrule. They were in fact staring right at King Dodongo himself, the Infernal Dinosaur that had claimed part of Death Mountain as his very own domain.

The disguised princess' red eyes widened and her jaw dropped slightly as she recognized the lumbering form of the gigantic Dodongo steadily approaching them. Whilst there was a hint of excitement at seeing a familiar foe from Hyrule here, the same as had been the case earlier regardless as to which point in time each monster had been whisked from, far more than that, she was instantly on her guard. Sheik might not have faced King Dodongo herself, but between tales from Impa, the Gorons, and Link, she knew more than enough to start gauging him as he reared back and roared mightily.

As Impa explained both the monster and the strategy for taking him down to Chell, Sheik readied her chain, right before watching carefully as her guardian unleashed the opening attack. Not only had she connected with respectable damage, she had also delivered a shock to his entire form! As the fierce Dodongo fell from the attack, the disguised princess waited for Chell to unleash a barrage of arrows before she herself ran forward to attack. Hopefully, she would be able to make the most of the time he was down!

"He'll probably get up soon after this. Be ready to dodge him!" It wasn't the depths of Dodongo's Cavern, but King Dodongo still had plenty of room to roll around here.

How could this be?! He'd hardly even begun to inhale to deliver massive fire damage to the trio of food-worthy interlopers, and he was now crumpled on the grassy earth beneath him! That Sheikah… she had caught his weak spot! Not only that, but she'd delivered a very powerful hit, one that he knew he'd still be feeling for a little while after this round.

    "RRR-RRRRGH!"

King Dodongo growled in pain as he felt the shadowy magic smolder further within him, right before he was met with a flurry of arrows and a pair of snappy chain strikes. He growled further, feeling rather incensed that he had already sustained such damage. As much as he wanted, he was not going to be able to retaliate just yet, but even so, he could still ready himself for the next round. In the meantime, he could only hope that his thick hide would help deflect any other blows they sought to hit him with. Even when he was down, he was a force to be reckoned with… and that would prove all too true once he had recovered here.
