    ( Yeah, I l know what you mean. )

    We're getting deep, alright,"

Bloodscream nodded in agreement, it certainly felt like they were down deep. And to continue much deeper could put them in serious danger. There was no telling what crags and splits existed in this cave that they explored. One wrong step and either one of them could be falling for miles. The things that made this place their home were also a risk, no doubt even more dangerous than what his associate had encountered. And should this danger befall them? Well, who was to say that a distress signal could even reach the surface? They were on their own down here, so it was best not to stay longer than either of them had to .

In front of him the others machine continued to beep and cause all sorts of noise. Were those good signs? Did they mean they were close?

Pray tell, what does thine scanner say about the location of our prize?

Well it was about freaking time!
    "Bingo!"
Pat put on a pearly-white smile and hopped over a few precarious stones. There was a massive heat signature hidden around this area! "According to my calculations, the spot where we need to dig should be right... around... here." Here being a solid stone wall in front of them. "Hmm..." No, can't say that Pat liked breaking through a stone wall without knowing what was on the other side. But if the lava was past it along with the obsidian... He snapped his fingers and came up with a spontaneous idea. "Alright, this is what we're gonna do," he said, taking charge. Pat busied himself by moving nearby pieces of loose rock, fashioning a makeshift platform to stand upon in case there was lava directly behind that rock wall. Climbing onto it, Pat dusted his gloved hands and beckoned for the Bartender to follow suit.

"Get up on here and let's tear it down," Pat instructed. Reaching into his utility belt yielded another pickaxe, but it was significantly smaller compared to the one he lent the Bartender. "Let's do this nice and quick. Break the wall, mine the obsidian, and get the heck outta here."
    A great plan, right?

Sorry for leaving ya hanging, mate. Due to unforeseen circumstances, you want to just mine the obsidian and imply that they made it back? Would save a whole lotta time.

    "Bingo!"
Bloodscream stopped, looking over to his guide.
"According to my calculations, the spot where we need to dig should be right... around... here. Hmm..."

So they had found it, finally. Now the real work could begin, though, they would have to be careful. Who knows how much the walls of the cave could hold, or what could possibly be waiting for them on the other side. It appeared that he was not the only one thinking of what horrible possibilities could be waiting for them however.

"Alright, this is what we're gonna do,"
The immortal raised a pale eyebrow to the human and stood back to watch him curiously. Ah! So that's what the other was doing, building a platform. Clever mortal. Bloodscream joined the mortal on his made platform and shrugged the pick axe from his shoulder.

"Let's do this nice and quick. Break the wall, mine the obsidian, and get the heck outta here."

Verily. Bloodscream raised the pickaxe and got to work, and what work it was. The sound of the metal pick striking the hard earth resounded loudly around them. Sparks flew into the dark as the pick continued to strike, slowly bringing fourth the prize which they had travel so far into the earth for. Even with his immortality Bloodscream could slowly feel the strain of the task taking it's toil upon his old body as he worked to pry the obsidian from the stone. His inhuman strength and stamina would keep him going for much longer than a normal mortal man, however, even he had his limits.

For now all he could do was focus on the task at hand as he slowly, but surely peeled layer after layer of obsidian from the earth as the hours passed. Once he pulled it from the earth he worked to move it back to the surface, the fresh air a sweet relief upon his face every time he resurfaced.

Finally, as the sun was beginning to go down the last of it was loaded.

The deed is done, Bloodscream wiped his hands and looked to his partner. Shall we continue on?

Looks like the bartender was a Jack-of-All-Trades. Just watch that lithe man dig.
Pat wasn't nearly as stacked in stamina, but he was no slouch. And although his pickaxe had a bit of wear and tear, that was fine; Pat still tore into the earth like the best of them. Black shards of obsidian occasionally sprayed outward with his strikes, a few lightly flying into his face. Craters, already his arm was starting to feel tired. How many tons did these need of this again? Nine...?

    Dink!
    Dink!
    Dink!
    Dink!

It was a beautiful union: Pat's resources and the bartender's inhumane brawn. Didn't make the time go any faster, but it certainly helped that two men were at this instead of one. Thankfully the monsters in the caverns learned to stay far away, for Pat was ready to blast any leafy green thing without any warning. Same for them nasty spiders, too. Made digging all the more easier when you didn't have to worry about monsters chewing at your ankles.

Minutes passed, then hours. Between chipping away at the stone and actually carting it back up, the endurance to even sustain such an action was ludicrous. That's why Pat pretty much wiped his sweaty brow and said he had an idea. "I have an idea." See? Forget carrying that crud to the surface, man. Let's do this the science way! Which, really, involved Pat placing a marking sensor onto the main obsidian node and gesturing for the bartender to follow. Where, exactly? To the ship, duh! Pat's ship that was totally not stolen from Pirate Lord Ridley's main forces, oh no. Ignore the Space Pirate insignia, by the way. Seems legit, right?
"Time to blow this joint sky-high." See that grin? That was the grin of a man who had absolutely no clue what he was doing.

Tracking beacon pinging loud and clear on one of the ship's main meters, Pat reached down to grip a lever and pressed a single red button. You ready for this, bartender?

    BOOM BOOM!
Off went the main batteries and bye-bye ugly critters.
A good chunk of the mountainside was suddenly blown off, the innards exposed for all to see. Wasn't that nice? Pat had placed a sensor so they didn't have to lug this stuff the old-fashioned way! Gotta use them thinkmeats, man. "One perfectly good mountain: ruined," Pat laughed. Oh, it was good to be bad. And destructive, he guessed.

With the main obsidian node exposed, now they could simply land and carry it no problem. Why make the work harder, huh? They had the nine tons of this heavy junk in no time, and once the cargo was safely loaded it was time to fly it on back. Gotta get payment for all this hard labor. And soon, because the sun was starting to set.
"Yeah, I'd say this deed is finished," Pat nodded in agreement. It better be, too. He took one last look at the cargo, pleased with their work. Took a day, but it was finally done. "Let's go," Pat said, already heading for the ship's cockpit. "We got ourselves a client to see."

    It's pay day, baby~!

Sweetness. I'll make the thread for Mr. Prixlezub, Obsidian Connoisseur.
