    Full Circle

    Time: Morning
    Date: May 23rd, 0003

    A deal was a deal.

From upon the flattened coastline with feet entrenched into the fine grains of sand stood a man, rigid and upright. His face devoid of emotion or meaning, the fellow strangely wore a black-and-white business suit. Within his hands was a black cane and it remained just as straight as its owner, the miniature pole placed neatly before him. He was isolated, alone. There was nothing around him for miles except shoreline and his companions were the rocks and the birds. The ripe smell of algae plagued the air and salt sprayed against his strict form, but still he did not yield. What was such an individual doing out here?

Without warning and not bothering to move, the man suddenly snapped his cane immediately to the right of him. There the tip of it pointed directly at the sand, and his voice disrupted the roaring of the waves at last. "Arise," he commanded, body and head unrelenting. "There is no longer the need for secrecy."

Who was he talking to? Not even the seagulls knew, and the curious birds simply looked on quietly.

    Hrrrrmmmmgggrrbllll...

The man did not have to wait very long on the shore. Though his words were lost under the deep ground that the train demon hid himself in, Blainstrrghtokk still recognized the energy signature that the alien gave off. Yes, the hologram undoubtedly gave off a signature of its own, but it was pale in comparison to the soul that lay just beneath it. To him, the alien looked to be shrouded in some light mist that hung around his silhouette. The demon only hung beneath the earth for a few moments while he ensured that the person was indeed Zurg, and had no one follow him to the secret locale. Quickly, his body thrust upward through rock, soil, and finally sand.

    BRRRMMBBBLLL!

Sand flew everywhere as the gargantuan breached the earth like a whale, smoke and fire pluming from the hole upon his head to billow around him. Two sets of great claws followed after, each one easily big enough to crush a house within their grip effortlessly. They stabbed into the ground on either side of the monarch, though far enough apart that he would not have to worry about being accidentally crushed in the process. Sand and rock rolled down the locomotogephor's back as he craned his neck down to the alien, nearly resting his chin upon the sand as he regarded the smaller creature.

"Hrrrrmmmhhgg..." he breathed, steam jetting from the sides of his neck. "Shhurghh..." Blain rumbled, his voice shaking both the earth and air in a way Prixlezub could never hope to accomplish. Yes, the demon had indeed said the monarch's name, or at least as well as he could with his limited knowledge of basic. Upon tilting his head to the other in a small gesture of respect, the demon raised another portion of his coils from the sand, one of the claws seeming to be clenched around something.

He reached forward, opening the curled talons to reveal...

    A box.

But not just any box, for this one contained none other than the prince's stomach. The demon stood there, waiting for the alien to take the package.

A villain must always have proper presentation. And if not a villain... then an anti-hero will do just fine. As the earth split and the sand littered the sky, the man kept his cane pointed at the churning abyss before him and the coast became something's ground for performance. When all was done and cleared, the suit lowered his walking aid and turned to face the writhing newcomer. "Hmm, you are bigger than I last remember," he muttered off to the side and more to his spoken thoughts. Regardless, he tipped his head in respectful greeting back and knew his name whenever someone, or some demon, spoke it.

    "The package?" he inquired.

Sure enough the monstrous demon had a treasure tucked away beneath those slithering coils, and the suit inspected what appeared to be... a cast-iron metal trunk. And one with a rather daunting lock to pick, might he note. "Looks... heavy," the suit commented about it disdainfully. Demons were never so... forthright about their little details. No matter, however. The man thumped the sand with his cane once and twirled it, tucking it horizontally beneath his arm. "Open it," he instructed. "I wish to see what it is, exactly, that I am dealing with - properly." Once he saw that, then it was back to this foul, wicked business.

In case the demon didn't understand, as he recalled Layla's words, the suit twirled his cane forward and tapped the metal chest once. "Open," he slowly repeated.

The demon simply gave a small puff from the side of his neck when commented on his size. Though it was not through the fact he understood the language, but more he understood the intent behind it. Nonetheless, Blain tipped his head slightly when the alien had asked him about the package. he recognized the tone as commanding, but he was not so sure about what exactly he was commanding about. Though, as the alien slowly repeated himself, Blain racked his mind, what exactly did that basic word ohhpeeen, mean... Damn the mortals and their strange tongue.

But, as soon as Zurg tapped the box with his cane, the demon understood. but really, if he wanted the box opened, he could have just said Tn'ghkt. It would have made things so much easier! Nodding and rumbling, the demon produced a key from under his tongue, taking it in his claw carefully and twisting it in the lock. The box unlocked with a sharp click, various mechanisms whirring and grinding before the lid popped up slightly from where it had been previously shut tight from the elements.

"Ohhpeen..." Blain repeated awkwardly, the word strange upon his tongue as he offered the box to Zurg, gently lifting the lid up for the alien to see.

What Zurg would see, was a mass of fiery flesh, pulsating slightly from the air hitting the membrane of the strange organ. The stomach itself looked bloated, steam billowing lightly from the single opening where the esophagus would connect. If the man were to look inside the organ, he would find the cooling remnants of the prince's stomach fluids, highly intense with heat. It was no wonder that the demoness had given the organ to Blain in a box, it would have fried the poor monarch's hands and the surrounding earth if they just gave it to him as-is.

The demon allowed Zurg a few long minutes to get a real good look at it, perhaps even poke it with his cane if he wished, before closing the lid and locking it back up again. Though this time, the demon placed the large key upon the ground, along with the box.

Good. Looks like the large fellow was wrapping his head around the word. Aggravating, the man knows, but such were language barriers. He waited patiently as a result of past experiences and he was not disappointed. Inside the box, after an elaborate internal mechanism groaned inside the chest, lay a pulsating organ - and one the suit didn't make a face at. It was heated, it was burning. Yes, there was no way he would be able to touch such a volatile thing. Upon the man's tinted glasses did the stomach's reflection seethe like an angry boil; he had seen enough of such a putrid piece of meat. "That is convincing enough, thank you," the man remarked, indicating that it was time to close the trunk.

The gigantic demon having already done so, it was now time to enact his part of the bargain. Oh, yes - he knew how to take care of such a thing. The key, while normally needed, would hold no purpose here. Unless this box was enchanted, it could be pried open by normal means. The man, however, knew better than to assume so little of the demons he had come to encounter time and time again.

After having seen enough, the man held out his arm, bent at an angle, and growled a most guttural command. "X'yaargh-utkl x'jiir..." It rumbled like the demon's own tongue, dual-toned and penetrating. Who was he - and then something, something shiny, spilled out from the suit's sleeve. Hundreds of pieces of silver cascaded out as if they were a chrome waterfall, and the fragments glinted like a prism in the open day. In unison the pieces let forth a pleasant chime and the man pulled back his lips to reveal scowling, full teeth. "X'quultk x'aan Prixlezub x'tltlk," he continued to gnar. The silvery collective obeyed at once and the slivers glided over towards the box, where they hovered around it possessively.

Before the demon could react or even speak, the strange alien contraption started to spark. It began to bristle with stifling energy and as the pieces picked up speed, swirling madly around the package, the man took a step back and directed his hidden gaze at the demon. "You might want to stand back," he cautioned. And not a moment too soon.

    ...zzzzzZZZZZZRRRRRAAAAAKKKK!

In a surge of unnatural heat the sand beneath the package turned into glass and in that very moment... the pieces fell away. They fell away into what was seemingly an oval portal, nothing but darkness and vestiges of dimensional energy surging below. An uncanny wind howled as sand and air were suddenly sucked in, the pull strong enough to lap up a few foolish seagulls who had been flying too close. Their alarmed cries were cut out fairly quickly as they disappeared into the realm between realms, and the man? He simply watched the display with the same rigidity he had throughout the entire meeting.

Tie flapping madly in the vortex, a reddish glow simmered beneath his shades and he remained unconcerned. "X'thqrukk," he commanded.

And in that command, spoken so simply, the metallic pieces blew outward in a dangerous display. They stopped short of a few centimeters from cutting the man's face into fleshy ribbons, and in the next instant they were drawn back in. This time they fashioned nine, concentric rings which revolved slowly around each other in uneven tandem. There was no more wind, no more pull; instead a steady portal to who knew where glimmered beneath the box and the suit's glasses reflected everything in stellar, intricate detail.

"I said I wouldn't let that fool find what belonged to him so easily," the man began coolly as he lifted up his cane evenly with his waist, "and it is a business practice that I intend to keep." All it took was a light, single tap of his cane upon the trunk's outer hull and the cumbersome thing was instantly inhaled, the portal collapsing upon itself now that it held its current bounty. Whatever those metallic segments were, they shattered into hundreds of glinting slivers once more and ebbed away like the tide, content to float about the man's body protectively.

    It was done.

The key to the box now in hand, the suit casually pocketed it and glanced back up to the steam-spewing demon. "The deed is complete," he said curtly. "Tell Layla that our business is finished. She may rest easy knowing that the part is beyond any pseudo-god's grasp."

For once, the demon began to wish he could see things like the demoness could see, as a rather strange energy signature appeared before his visage. He did not need the alien to tell him stay back, as he naturally pulled away slightly out of caution when the sharpened bits began to twirl about, before sucking the sea air in like some sort of hungry maw. Blain rumbled and retracted his body below the earth a little more as it pulled in wildlife, the strange tongue the ex-emperor used similar but at the same time so strange. By the time the construct had finished opening the portal, Blain had retreated into the safety of the earth, only his shoulders and head poking out of the ground.

"Hrrrmm..." He rumbled, looking at the whirling shards of silver curiously. He had seen the kind of work the purple alien could so, but he never figured this.

As the box disappeared, and so too the energy signature, Blain gave a satisfied nod, rumbling as he listened to the alien speak some more of that basic language of his. by now he could make out bits and parts, but nothing too impressive. "Guuud..."He graveled, opening his maw as if to say something, before ultimately returning to his native tongue. "Alk'snngh brgh'knnt, Shuurgh. Kta gn k'ttnghss khreg kaa i'shkir s'ntghnn t'nn kirrkerr't." He rumbled, the words flowing smoothly from his lips, or as smoothly as their harsh tongue would allow. Though Zurg would definitely notice the emphasis on the dual toned rumbling, deepening the sound of the locomotogephor's words. In short, a rather interesting dialect that the prince lacked as well.

The demon dipped his head once more, before retreating completely into the sand, much like a snake slipping back into its burrow. Whatever the demon did on the way down, it caused the earth to fall in on the large hole, sand pouring and filling the space until it was no more than a crater on the beach.

    The deal was done.

    Finally.

The suit watched Layla's associate go, the large creature burrowing into the earth and quickly no more. A rush from the tide filled the newly-formed crater with water, and a thick sludge swelled where once sand settled freely. No more demons... No more putting up with appearances... There were only the gulls and the local wildlife now...

Sighing, the man tilted back his head and let his shoulders droop. "Oh, what a mess this is turning out to be..." he murmured wearily. It wasn't bad enough that he had spent eight-and-a-half months to bring himself where he wanted to be, and now he had to settle yet another soured business deal? Terrific. Absolutely wonderful. He was, of course, being bitter about the entire thing. No use crying over spilled bunzel milk, alas. If it weren't for his meddling in the first place then he wouldn't be here, wracking his nerves and patience around the demons' affairs. Fortunately this would be the last thing he had to deal with. After this, he was a free man. A free man... It felt good to hear those words within his mind.

Taking off his shades the man revealed tired, reddened eyes hidden behind the lenses. Underneath them were swollen, dismal bags and the suit openly sighed again before putting his glasses back upon his nose. "This is the last time I deal with demons..." he grumbled. They just weren't worth the trouble.

Turning back, the man walked out from the sand and up a grassy knoll, one of his arms waving to someone previously hidden. It was time to go home and see what else became of all these illicit meetings.

When Zurg walked up that grassy knoll, that was the cue a certain hidden someone was waiting for. As the alien waved, Lawrence was already bringing his dropship down for a landing. The ship landed far enough ahead of Zurg so the turbulence wouldn't knock him over, but close enough so that the alien wouldn't have to walk too far. The doors of the ship opened, and the pilot peered out to greet his former master.

Lawrence sighed in relief that Zurg was all right, even though he had watched the whole thing through the dropship's cameras and sensors. "That was a bit more harrowing than I would like . . . if I hadn't brought this ship, I would have likely had trouble staying airborne through all of that turbulence. What was that technology you used? My Quantum Actuator liked it about as much as it liked that Dimensionator you built, which is to say not very."

He didn't expect an answer on what sort of tech that was, so the butler moved on. "Oh well, at least our part in this seems to be over..."
