    Keeping a Promise

Livewire sat on the park bench, looking up at the sky. The sun was setting now, so what would usually be a burn against her troll skin was just a warm tingle as the last few rays painted the sky red and purple. It was so pretty, the sunset. With all that had been happening, gods coming, fighting gods, watching her family die, being reunited with them, Livewire had just felt...stressed. Yes, she was happy that everything was okay now, but...

She could tell that something like what happened would not be forgotten. She knew she wouldn't forget it. And it seemed like everywhere she looked, there were still traces of what was lost. Especially when she looked at her family.

The young troll sighed, casting her glowing eyes down at her hands. She just felt tired for some reason, she couldn't really place why. Probably Samara. Her other sister had just walked away from her the day before. Wouldn't talk to her. Nothing. She was worried. She was scared. She was fearful that Samara would just walk away, like it seemed so many of those important to her had even though she could count all those who had on one hand. She didn't want to lose Samara. Not when she just got her back.

Livewire sighed, staring out across the sky. She couldn't even bring herself to work today. She just felt...listless, was the word. Just like she couldn't bring herself to participate in anything.

The party with Kefka earlier had been fun, and Livewire's hair still reached down to her knees and sported every color of the rainbow, as well as her face being painted artistically and colorfully by the clown. Some might think she was a clown herself, and her usual rainbow attire didn't help with that. But, right now, this clown couldn't really bring herself to smile. Not when she was alone.

For Key'Esop, She stayed well away of all this commotion, even as the world was being torn apart, what was Key'Esop doing? Smoking a fine cigar, drinking vodka, and just watching, some would hate her for it, but she had her reasons, she had already saved her universe, three times, this was her turn to say no to the man, say no to the world, and she took it, her only resentment being the inability to get drunk...

But that Night in the wrecked sanctuary, she made a girl a promise, and true as the saying goes: "Don't make a girl a promise, if you know you can't keep it". Well, the context to it wasn't 100% accurate, but, it was close enough, She'd made the cybertronian a promise, one that she would keep, Key may have been a killer, spy, assassin, all about deceit and lies, but when she made a real promise, she would stop at no ends to keep her said promises to people.

Key'Esop had finished up working with Tally in the Little Daisy for the day, she'd headed back, passing the park, she'd seen Livewire, even with all the makeup, you couldn't miss the child, She smiled for a moment, but then noticed she wasn't smiling, Maybe the 30ish year old assassin could do something to cheer her up, maybe?

A moment passed, and Key was not where she was, nowhere to be seen, another moment, most attentions drawn to the sudden flapping of birds down in the pond, Key'Esop had ended up squatting behind the bench behind Livewire, and leaned up, moving close to her ear, before speaking in a friendly, and calming way, "I thought you clowns were supposed to be all happy? where's that smile?. With that the familiar voice was met with a familiar hand on her shoulder, with a a friendly squeeze of reassurance, it was okay...

Livewire's eyes kept staring up at the sky as it slowly changed colors to welcome the approaching night. She loved how colorful the sky could be, and seeing all of those colors was such a relief after so many days of clouds. It seemed as if every time something bad happened the sky was cloudy. She wondered if there was any correlation between those.

She sudden flapping of wings drew her gaze to the pond and she smiled softly as the birds flew away. Maybe someone had disturbed them? Just a second later, Livewire sensed that someone was in her "bubble", but the girl didn't jump up and react when Key spoke and touched her like some would, with alarm. Livewire had been practicing hard to get rid of that reaction, so she wouldn't accidentally lash out at someone if surprised. No, Livewire just turned towards Keyesop as her expression brightened considerably due to the company. Yay! She liked Keyesop!

After giggling a bit at Keyesop's words, the young troll proceeded to grin as widely as she could, her expression accentuated by the face paint. "Like this?"

Turning towards the women, Livewire scooted a bit to the side in order to allow Keyesop some room to sit down. Her posture straightened a bit in excitement as her expression maintained the brightness it was missing earlier. She really was genuinely happy to see her, seeing a friend was always a happy occasion!

"So what're you doin' here, Key'Esop?"

One of the many Skills Key'Esop had acquired over her life was manipulation, and being able to influence the thoughts and actions of others, through your own actions, this was one such example, used not for self-gain, or for professional reasons, but to cheer up, that comforting hand, in just the right way, that friendly voice, at just the right, comforting tone... it was something Key'Esop rarely needed to actively think about.

this was further helped by the smell of flowers, fresh, there was always a certain niceness to that smell, as offered, She moved around the bench, and slid onto it, next to the girl. it was nice to see a smile brought to the child's face.

"well, I was just heading home, after work. And decided to take a small detour, I saw my favorite little girl, and decided to see how she was doing..."

Key could be a cold hearted bitch, as some have called her, but she did genuinely have a very nice and caring side to it, and so far, she'd only shown it to Livewire really... Though there were certain triggers at play there mentally, they were ones that she would not willingly reveal the truth behind, but enough of that, Yeah, Key could be a very nice and caring person, she certainly was to Livewire...

"That's the smile I remember, you should be happy, it is nice to see you now are...

Livewire grinned when Key announced that she had just happened to see her. What a nice coincidence! The girl loved coincidences like that. If Key was manipulating her, Livewire would not have noticed. Nor would she have cared, really. The girl manipulated people almost every time she was around them. The happiness that defined her was true, but even she couldn't stay happy all of the time. On those rare and few occasions she tried to not let it show, so as to not burden her friends with her own feelings. That way there wouldn't be as much stress and everyone could just enjoy themselves!

The smell of the flowers near them did stir inside of the girl's senses, as did the sounds of the people, the city, and even the woman beside her. Being organic was so much fun to her. Everything was different in this form and she appreciated each and every one of those differences.

Grinning once more, Livewire picked her feet up to sit cross-legged on the bench while turning to face her companion, happy that she was here. She giggled softly at Key'Esop's last statement.

"Yeah, bein' happy is pretty great an' stuff! An' how're you feelin' right now?"

Though, that being said, it was quite likely that Key'Esop had planned this 'meeting', and that is was not just mere coincidence, but not even her RPer could say for sure...

Key did turn to face the Girl, and nodded, "Right now? Well, I cannot complain, finished working for the day, and was about to work on my cave some more, but, that can wait, no rush with it.. After responding to the question, she put a hand back on her closer, shoulder and smiles.

"I do believe we did something a while back, didn't we? can you remember what it was, girl?". She knew Livewire probably knew, but she decided to play things out this way, it's not like Key'Esop had time restrictions anyway. They had both upheld their sides of the promise, it was a simple one, but, simple is often times good, and here was once such time...

"Oh! Well, that's good! How's work? You work for Tally, right? Is she okay? Oh! An' you live in a cave? Neat!" Livewire's rapid-fire question personality peeked through her previous gloom as Key offered her something to be curious about. How interesting! Livewire had lived underneath the highways before, but she had NEVER lived in a cave!

Smiling happily, Livewire's curiousity was snatched up once again when Key asked her a question. Thing they did, thing they did...

Livewire reviewed everything she could remember that would count as a "while back", which she assumed was about a month or so. What had they done a while back? Well, a while back was when Alpha was killing them all, so...something to do with that? OH. OH, SHE REMEMBERED.

At this retrieval if information, Livewire's eyes lit up with even MORE excitement. "Yeah! I remember! We promised that we'd see each other alive again' an' stuff, right?"

Key'Esop smiled, and waited for a pause in the slew of questions thrown at her, before attempting to answer them one by one... "Yes, yes, it is going well enough... Yes, I am working for Tally, and yes, she is doing well, and Yes I am currently living in a cave, out on the coast, it's very safe, hidden, and nice, I still need to make a home of it though..."

Once she'd mentioned she'd remembered, Livewire found herself pulled into a hug, an... uncommon gesture from the Assassin, Giving the girl a pat on the back, she smiled, Key couldn't really explain why she just did what she did, she just, well, did.

Feeling a happy she had not felt in quite a long time, she then spoke "Yes! As I promised, Here I am, here you are, Yes?!". It was a simple beginning, but simple was better than anything really, small steps, small steps...

"Really? Cool! An' if ya need any help with workin' on your cave I'd be really happy to help an' stuff!" Livewire did have quite a bit of experience in turning stone areas into living spaces! Then again, living underneath the highways was probably a good deal different than living in a cave, but she could show Key'Esop where to get stuff for free, or at least a a cheap price! Wait, would Key need any of that? She had a job with Tally, so she would be able to get the not-cheap stuff! Yay!

Livewire was right about to expand on this thought when the woman grabbed her and pulled her into a hug. That was...unexpected. She didn't think she'd ever had a hug from Key'Esop before! How exciting! Grinning, Livewire wrapped her arms around Key'Esop tightly before letting go when she was released. The troll purred happily and nodded at Key's statement.

    "Yup! All alive an' stuff!"

She smiled, "We'll see yet, it's a huge cave, a cavern even... that is something that can be fixed up in time, there is no rush girl...".

Key nodded, still smiling, "That you are, and that I think, is something to be happy of". She thought for a moment ,and decided for certain what she would do next, she'd been mulling over the idea, and thought it'd be a nice gesture.

She reached behind her neck, and untied one of the few simple bead necklaces, all of them almost entirely wood beats on a piece of string, spaced. The necklace she did take off was a bit worn, each of the beats were a subtle pink, it wasn't a glaring pink, nor was it almost tainted white, but the nice balance that made up Key's favorit colour, and similar to that of her armour.

She grinned and held it out infront of the troll, in her hand, and then spoke up, "I think it's better than nothing, this means alot to me, and so also you mean alot to me, it's simple, it's yours now, take care of it". This necklace was really quite simple, but held far more sentimental value than a random gold or silver necklace would, she hoped that the girl would understand this...

"Oh! Well, if you're livin' in it, then you should make sure to fix it all up so it's all comfy an' stuff!" Livewire, still smiling, nodded her head enthusiastically at Key'Esop's statement. "Yup! Bein' alive is really good an' stuff!"

The troll tilted her head at Keyesop as the woman shifted about. She gave a small gasp when Key'Esop extended the necklace, the imagery strikingly familiar. This was a necklace given in the spirit of a promise kept. That they were both here, and neither had left. Of friendship.

Livewire's mind went to the necklace currently resting on her collarbone, the smoothed glass catching the light of the setting sun, and the young, never-changing face of the one who had given it to her. Casshern, her friend, who she thought would never, ever leave with the quick bond they had formed. Casshern had given her the necklace, and since then she had never taken it off. It meant that much to her. But he was gone.

And now, Key'Esop was doing the same. The same gesture, intent, but Key'Esop was not aware just how much it did mean to the girl. Livewire smiled, softly, humbled by the offering, and reached her hand out to carefully take the ornament. The pink beads reminded the troll of the armor that Key'Esop owned. Livewire carefully strung the necklace on, tying a tight and secure knot, before smiling brightly again at Keyesop. It rested just above the colored glass given by Livewire's long-lost friend, and there it would always stay.

"I'll make sure to take really, really good care of it, Key'Esop." Livewire blinked, maybe to disperse a tear, and then lurched forward to tightly hug the woman. "Thank you."

As low as she was , and could be, as her employmeent required, she was a woman of her word, she rarely madee promises for that reason, and didn't, nor couldn't blame others for not trusting her, after all, she was a spook, why should you ever trust a spook? They were masters of manipulation and lying, lying through their teeth so good that lie is impossible to tell from truth to the point that a skilled spy could warp a target's beliefs, standards, actions to their favor, Key'Esop had done so before on numerous occasions...

Key'Esop, did not know whether it was tear or not, and frankly did not have time to examine or question, as she was was rushed into a tight hug, to which she gladly gugged back, she had not been this close to anyone, adult or child in literally years, it felt.... it felt... nice... "It's my pleasure". She did not let go of the hug, the moment was too good to waste right now... far too good...

Livewire smiled to herself and lightly squeezed the woman she was holding. She loved hugs. She loved them so much, especially when they were from people who she didn't get to hug often! The girl turned her head to the side, nuzzling Keyesop happily as a purr resonated deep in her chest.

"Thank you so much, Keyesop. This...this really means a lot to me." Livewire took this time to quickly wipe her eyes and then squeeze Keyesop once more before letting the woman go. She smiled, brightly as always, as she looked upon the new member of her family.

"Keyesop? Can I ask you somethin'? Why...why did you promise me that? That we'd see each other again?"

The whole scene made her happy, a happy she had not felt in years, it was indescribably satisfying, as she had the life hugged into her. "You are welcome, I made that necklace myself, in Tibet..."

Then, that question... that was a good question, one he wasn't really expecting, but she would answer it, "Why I made this promise.... well... friendships start with trust, a good way to gain trust is to keep a promise, no matter how simple. I also needed a reason to not do something foolish between then and now, I was feeling quite down, still am... and it was also to give you something to look forward to after getting through what happened. Many people don't trust me because I am a spook, and I do not blame them, but it is nice to have someone to be able to trust you... that is why I made this promise.."

Again, she smiled, and put a reassuring hand on the troll's shoulder

Livewire listened intently as the woman spoke, hanging off of her every word as she explained why it was so important that the promise was made. She just needed a friend, is all. Well, that's how Livewire interpreted it. And Key'Esop was right, friendships did start with trust! And, well, it was a bit unorthodox, but she had certainly started off a friendship with the now-troll. Of course, Livewire ALREADY saw Key'Esop as a friend, but now she realized the the woman was a close friend, one that was willing to make sure their friendship lasted even though death.

"Well, 'm really glad that you didn't do anythin' stupid in that time, 'cause that'd be really silly an' stuff! An', I'm really glad that we're all friends now an' stuff. An', I dun' really care if other people dun' trust you an' stuff. You've been really nice to me an' everythin', an' kept your promise, so, you bein' a "spook" dun' matter to me one bit!" Livewire paused and took the time to nuzzle the hand that was on her shoulder. "Just, as long as you're you an' stuff, that's all I care about."
