    Plummeting Down to Zebes

There it was. That last missile that finished him off. The Pirate Lord had always had trouble with missiles, having been killed by them on many separate occasions. The difference was, for once the only one not firing missiles was that accursed Hunter. If intel was correct, Aran could be back anytime from soon to far in the future now that her teammates had blown her up with the Mothership. Now that she was gone however, they'd made a huge mistake. Shooting her was the best thing at the time, but in the long term, the correct thing to do wasn't to do that. Simply because, despite their losses, the Space Pirates still had 80% of the bio-weapons that had been on the Mothership at the time of infiltration. Not to mention that an eighth of their forces for a potentially long time without the Hunter impeding project progress was definitely worth it.

It was worth it because of the time-abduction-thing that the portals that brought beings to these Gammas did. You know, bringing one person from point A in the timeline, and another person from point B. The Zebes they had now was from just before the Great Phazon War. The forces were from any point in the timeline, more appearing every day. One by one, they just arrived through portals and had to go to debriefing for an explanation. The Space Pirates were very organised. But none of it would've been possible if the Evil Emperor Zurg hadn't extended his arm and aided them in retrieving Planet Zebes from another Gamma. To say that Ridley was grateful was untrue but not completely untrue, because he was hardly ever grateful to non-Pirates. He was, as a matter of fact, slightly grateful to the Evil Emperor. But other than that glimmer of gratefulness? Nothing.

Back in Ridley's world, the Metroidverse, the Galactic Federation had all but completely obliterated the Space Pirates. Samus Aran was by far their largest asset, a one-woman army capable of taking out an entire planet of enemy troops single-handedly. And the ratio of wins:losses for Ridley against her remained at a stready 1:7. What could he say, she was a complete tank back in the Metroid universe. But not here. Here, he dominated her. If she were to attack? She'd be ripped to shreds in no time by his talons. To put it in Jana's terms, he was just a much higher level than her. Her low level stood no chance against his higher one, him being able to kill her I'm a few attacks.

Falling towards Zebes speedily now, the Pirate Lord closed his eyes. He had no strength, and this was going to hurt. A lot. He could survive the flames of re-entry as they coated and cooked him, but the impact? Nope. His Pirates would have to sort him out there. Silent, the dragon fell towards the planet at astounding speeds. Better hope you don't get underneath him, Spsce Pirate Fighters! If you do, you'll have serious trouble landing. Yes, you'll all die a horrible and painful death. But hey, welcome to Ridley's world. A world of death, some of them being his own deaths at the hands of Aran. Well, with her out of other picture things would go a lot more smoothly. Hopefully she'd stay dead!

The ground approached. It had been a whole since the cyborg had re-entered, and the ground rushed closer. He looked like a comet plummeting down, and the heavy gravity there didn't help at all. In fact, all the Space Pirates and wildlife around would just see a comet of a dragon as he made impact.

Ridley struck the ground, creating a crater at least 56 meters deep. At the minute, he was dead, killed instantly from the impact.

    ----------

"Lord Ridley. Science Team have revived you yet again." A Space Pirate turned and left, as Ridley checked out his fixed body and meta-armour. The explosion in space had done a great deal on him, but the impact was much worse. The shockwave had affected the on-land bases, too. Ridley got up, facepalming and shaking his head.

Ugh. Those damn Space Rangers... little did the Pirate Lord know he was about to receive news.

    Important news.

"News? This had better be good news, I've had enough bad news this cycle." Ridley held his talons to his face, shaking his head and recovering bit by bit. He had indeed heard bad news. It was pretty much all linked to the events that had just transpired, what with the teams exploring wreckages, then getting together and blowing up his Mothership. Like had happened years ago on Zebes. It was utterly infuriating. The only bright side was that the Pirate Lord had survived. A fall wasn't going to kill him, he'd survived a 50,000 foot drop into the core of a planet. Beat that! Yes, this dragon was the Cunning God of Death; you weren't killing him that easily.

"Very good news, Lord Ridley. The cycle before this, we lost contact with all bugs inside Star Command." The Space Pirate paused for dramatic effect. The pause was a mistake. "How the hell is that a good thing, you inferior bastard?!" Ridley yelled. But despite his race being aggressive in the face of such insults, the Space Pirate didn't stop and merely carried on calmly. "We investigated this, and found shocking results. Star Command is no more. It was blown to bits." The Pirate Lord's eyes widened at the sudden realisation. "...Zurg. It had to have been Zurg." The dragon was smart enough to fool intelligent AI easily. Of course he'd piece two and two together.

Rather than get frustrated, Ridley laughed. "We were just a factor in his plan. I can't say I care since we are now what we were before, extremely powerful. But in the long run... how crafty." He grinned a malicious grin, impressed rather than upset. "In his plan, we were just a diversion. Whilst Star Command had its main Space Rangers out after us, they weren't there to guard Star Command itself. Zurg used our diversion to sneak into the base and plant explosives!" Well, the Space Pirates benefitted from that also. No Star Command to get in their way! But that wasn't it.

"But we must remember, news runner, that there were Portal Breach citizens involved in the explosion of our Mother Ship which I trust is already under reconstruction. The Space Pirates shall not let this conflict go unanswered." The Space Pirate listened intently. He hated the citizens down there on Portal Breach with apl his heart, so he was naturally delighted to hear this news. "I hereby give the order to mobilize our remaining forces. We have a new operation to begin. I call it... Project Infestation."

And thus the Space Pirate left in a hurry, eager to spread the news.
