She missed, but she was quick and had time tilt her body just out of the way. His arm shot out, flying past her, and she brought a hand down to catch his wrist once she was clear of his claws. And then, with blinding speed of reflex she brought her free hand in with a forceful palm strike to his elbow, stressing it with an unnatural bent. She needed to be focused and direct, as she attempted to expunge the irritability and discouragement from her face (whilst she wiped that smirk off of his); if he missed her, then she needed to take advantage of that fact to the best of her abilities. Vincent would have no cause to ridicule her for it if she had anything to say about it!

Vincent leaped back again, avoiding her attempt to seize his wrist and blow to his elbow then backed away from her to get some distance. "No offense was meant, Miss Terra." He flexed his hands to limber up his flesh hand at least. He studied Terra thoughtfully. gaging her reflexes and her fatigue level.

The gunman could see that she was tired, not really a surprise, spars tended to do that and from what he had seen so did her magic. The smell of burnt cloth got his attention and he shifted to stomp on a spot on the hem of his cloak that was on fire from her last attempt. "It has been an interesting spar for both of us." He took a deep breath and sharged forward, slashing once again....

When he'd stopped, she's paused only long enough to give his words thought and then respond. "I'm not offended, I'm just..." She was just a little embarrassed she'd missed with her magical attacks, and that her shirt was somewhat ripped through. She felt oddly self-conscious about that bit. "Ooooh, I'm so sorry Vincent. What I was..."

And he was on the move again, and she ducked and backed away, deftly avoiding not just the claws but his space as she danced to the side. "—frustrated about was...!"

Her words broke off in a grunt, as she followed him and slid, her feet moving forward along the ground and her hips coming down, so that she could turn against the floor and sweep her legs around in an attempt to trip the gunman.

Vincent did stumble a bit, but he recovered fast enough to avoid another embaressing face plant on the ground. He leaped bck to regain some distance and smiled at her. "I wouldn't fret about missing with your magic. Look how many times I've missed in this. IF my trainer Veld was here he would thrash me to an inch of my life for this awful showing." He prowled like a great jungle cat, stalking in a circle around her, preparing to pounce on his prey.

The gunman realized what had embaressed her. "I wouldn't worry about a torn shirt, Miss Terra. I remember a female trainee that failed to put on a shirt under her chest armor. The armor came unfastened and fell off in the middle of the spar. Much to the delight of the other trainees as you can imagine." He shook his head in...disapproval. "Such disrespect was shameful." He lunged and struck once again.....

She's spied the way he circled her, and even as he talked of refraining from embarrassment she was wary of his next move. When he did lunge, she tried to moved back, to the side, but he caught her with a glancing blow anyway, off her shoulder, but the pain was so minimal as to be negligible. Instead she reached over to grab his wrist, using the stall in his movement to do so quickly. "I appreciate the sentiment." And she meant it with a smile and a slight nod of the head. Vincent was respectful, and she very much respected him.

And then she lunged forwards herself to knee him hard in the gut. Right into his diaphragm. Yep.

Vincent rushed Terra, claws slashing out for her. She managed to step back and to the side avoiding most of the blow, but his claws knicked her shoulder. The gunman had become fond of the sweet natured young woman, but she had a strength to her that he also admired. She reminded him so much of gentle, kind Aeris. He had grieved deeply for her death and hated himself for not being able to save her from a horrible death. He would try his best not to fail so horribly again.

Vincent felt Terra's hand close around his left wrist and pull him towards him saying she would take his words under advisemnt. It was then he saw her knee coming up in an attempt to hit him. He twisted his hand loose and blocked her knee. Lunging forward, he slashed at her.....

When Vincent flipped around to draw near her on the attack, that was when Terra let loose. She let him step within her defenses, though she was able to parry his clawed hand with swift flick of the wrist. Her free hand she brought forth in a palm strike. "And then the prey finally did come, and the proud, swift huntress took the chance! Pray for mine a mercy, expect none!"

It hit his chest with great force, and then the fire ignited, swirling between her skin and his leather before it condensed, and then expanded with focused combustion, pushing the other combatant back, blowing him away from her whether it was hot enough to do damage or not (hopefully it was, though). As he glided away, she bent an arm over and gripped her own forearm to keep it steady, even as her shoulders shook. Fira was intense, blaze stained blue and encroaching, able to scorch the most unyielding of surfaces coal black; it was thus...difficult to control, in some ways even more so than Firaga since Firaga wasn't meant to be controlled.

Inwardly, she crossed her fingers and hoped she could maintain control.
