Through sheer luck, the Natives had been able to hit the Beast once. Any cheers of victory were silenced by the rumble of the beast, from where, they could not tell. Their eyes were still dulled and blinded by the debris. They gathered together, back to back, to make sure Prix could not attack them in the back. They squinted, their eyes feeling more like sandpaper than anything, to see what the red blur before them would do.

He did not do anything immediately. Could the beast be thinking over what it would do? A silly idea, since this was surely just a beast, nothing else. But the way it seemed to ponder made them rethink that. They were fighting a dangerous beast that could think. And the ability to think was the most dangerous weapon of all. Thankfully, they could think too.

Finally, the Beast made his move, taking in a deep breath. The Natives stiffened, ready to move at the next move he made, and when he first began unleashing the fire from inside of him, the Natives scattered into the forests at Prix's sides, miraculously left uninjured. The forest where they had been however, was not so lucky. No more wood, no more trees, or grass, or anything green. with their blurred vision, all they could see was red.

Seeing the damage done to their homeland, the Native snarled underneath their skull helmets and leapt back out of the forest, each trying to dig their spears into Prix's side and stab into the organs below.

Damn, it seemed that he was losing touch with his aim. While he had quite effectively obliterated the forest with his fire, the natives were unscathed. Ah, but no matter, the fire that had caught to the few brambles was starting to spread, and soon this place would be engulfed with fire. A kind that could be put out, yes, but where would the natives get enough water to put out and entire forest? Nothing short of a lake would be able to do that, the demon decided, giving hardly a snarl as his adversaries began stabbing him with spears once more. He would destroy these creatures, and they would pay for their foolishness. He backed away from the spears that were being thrown and thrust into his wounds, his steps shaking the ground as he moved into the center of the clearing. He figured the natives were most likely taking their brief retreats into the trees, which were starting to burn finally.

The natives will soon be burning as well, as far as the demon was concerned. Even if he was getting beaten more than they were, he would still fight to the death. To go down and out without a fight or struggle was anything but dignified. If they were to fight to their last breaths to try and kill him, he would fight to his last smoking breath as well. However, that did not mean he would play fair with these primitive things.

Keeping his distance, Prixlezub took in yet another deep breath, his lungs filling with air and expanding outwards. However, this time it was not fire that the demon was about to breathe, but something quite different instead. The demon prince had not a moment to wait before he unleashed a most devastating roar at the natives. The sound of it was loud enough to rattle the most sturdy of frames, and make the deafest of ears ring with the sheer force of the bellow. The demon's roar cut through the very air of the forest like a well sharpened ax, going for miles as well as being loud enough where he stood and where the natives stood about for the ground to shudder from the sheer force of the explosive cry.

Once done, the demon glared back down at the strange natives that dared to puncture him with such crude weaponry, his remaining eyes burning fiercely like a wildfire. These primitive fools will soon figure out just what they were truly dealing with.

The Gods saw fit to help guide their spears, and the majority of them hit, but not as deeply as they wanted. For all of the stabs they did, they barely scratched the surface of the Beast this time. The Beast backed away into the center of the clearing, and the Natives went to go back to the trees to run over to him under cover of the trees, but one of the Natives got in the way of everyone else.

"The Beast's breath melted the area where we were, and its spreading, we can't go into the trees." The Young Native warned in their tongue. They looked and yes, it was true. The red was spreading. Their eyes still clouded by the dirt and bits of glass that had been thrust into them, the redness was still all they could see, but it was growing. Curse this Beast! Harming their home like this! There was no way they could take it down and contain the fire at the same time. One Native came close to cursing the name of the one who convinced them to unearth this Beast, but stopped. To speak ill of the dead is disrespectful, so he held his tongue. But they all shared the same regrets. They would never doubt the words of one who was older and wiser than them again.

Suddenly, a roar, more terrifying and louder than before. Each Natives' hands came up to cover their head and helmet, and stared at the great Beast. They had often killed creatures who roared or hissed or bellowed, but never a roar like this. In some ways, they were actually impressed by the alien noise. Their very bodies shook a bit from the pressure of the roar, and once the Beast was done, it sent them a heavy glare. Despite the power of the roar, they were not intimidated enough to stop attacking. They charged, and since he was glaring, they this time aimed their spears at those vicious eyes. A blind enemy was very easy to kill.

So, the natives were more courageous than he thought. The demon prince had to give them credit, these creatures had quite the determination for their size. If he was not so vulnerable, the demon probably would have obliterated them by now. However, his hide being torn and his aim being incapacitated from the months of sleep he had, it seemed he would not be taking down any civilizations soon. In fact, this was downright pathetic. These creatures had nothing but spears with crystals tied to them, and they were making more headway with bringing him down than anyone else on Portal Breach! Even Zurg did not take the demon prince down this quickly in the few fights they had.

While the majority of their spears missed the mark, one managed to hit the demon prince square in the eye. The fiery fluids drained from the cracked glass and staining the ground with more pools of liquid fire. While the wound pained him, the demon kept himself from crying out. These creatures would not have the satisfaction of knowing he was in pain, instead reaching up and yanking the spear from his eye. The small twig of a weapon was crushed in his grip, the remaining eye he had left glaring down with all the hatred he could muster. Even if he was to be defeated, he would take down all of these primitive creatures with him. Smoke rolled from his grill as he stamped the ground with a hoof, his tail swinging behind him and scattering more of his blood across the ground. The wounds in his gut were littered with spears, each one rattling and clattering together with each rise and fall of his chest. Beyond him, there was fire, and behind him, there was nothing but forest. Though the demon was already figuring a plan to get rid of these irritating adversaries.

Unable to snap his jaws, the demon prince puffed jets of fire and smoke from his grill instead, his gaze one that reflected the beginnings of a scheme. The natives would no doubt see this, but it would only be fleeting. Once the demon had given his glancing warning, he charged, bounding side to side as he approached the natives. All the while, he swiped all the feathery creatures as he could into the flames of the forest behind them, trying to impale then on the burning brambles as well as immolate them alive in the bonfire that steadily grew behind them.

Their vision seemed to be clearing up already, because one of the spears created a satisfying CRACK as it invaded the eye of the beast. The beast gave no reaction to the injury, besides plucking the offending object out, but the eye leaked more liquid fire to the ground. Yes, this was not beneficial with all of the fire around them already, but the crack and the foreign blood made them proud, victorious. Though they were small, they were defeating this beast! It had only one eye left!

They stood their ground bravely...all except the still crippled alien, who had passed out from blood loss long ago. The fires of the woods finally spread to the area he had taken refuge, and while he was still passed out, he had caught aflame. He didn't wake up from the pain, never shall he open his eyes. He was the first among quite a few to die in the next few moments.

Fire and smoke puffed out of the beast as it gave them a long stare with its last eye. No matter how hurt it was, it was NOT done for yet, much like themselves. Suddenly, he charged at them, bounding over and aiming to knock them into the fires of the forest. From his first few swipes, a couple of natives were both caught in his grasp and flung towards the forest. One gave a loud howl of pain as he landed on the side of a still burning tree. While not impaled, he burned quickly, much more loudly then the first native had too, screaming and howling as he died. The other one to be batted away was the alien who had previously been burned by the Beast. His fall was on the sharp, splintered remains of a burning tree, and unlike their old, naive leader who was stabbed through the chest, he was stabbed in the hip and arm, bleeding out as the fires licked his body once more. Being a more seasoned Veteran of hunts, he didn't let out a scream or howl, just stared at the fight even as the light left his eyes.

Another swipe and the majority managed to duck and evade the claws of the savage beast. One more swipe or two though, and another couple had been snatched up. The first was injured by the claws with which he was swiped, although when he left the claws, he landed away from the fire and broken trees, instead just landing behind the Beast. He hissed in pain as blood trickled out, but his eyes shown with savage fierceness. The other was not as lucky, and had landed right into the fires, burning alive instantly with nothing more than a yelp of surprise.

More had been lost. 16 of them remained now. And even as their vision cleared up, it was still blurry. For at least one more series of attacks, they would have to trust in their Gods, that they would not perish at the hands of the monster. Or, if they in fact did, that they could at least take it down too. The slashed alien picked himself up and charged forward, aiming a spear at Prix's stomach wound. The other natives followed, some aiming for the chest of the Beast, others aiming for the remaining eye.

Though the demon had but one eye left, being able to see that he tossed some of the natives into the flames quite clearly despite his advantage. The sight of the burning and screaming bodies would have brought a smile to his face, if his jaw was not broken like it was currently. However, it seemed that the natives were still quite adamant about killing him, and the prince soon found yet another spear stabbed into his open belly. It managed to dig a bit deeper than the previous ones, biting into the flesh near his chest cavity. Though the wood of the spear burned, the crystal remained, simmering in the heat of the Prixlezub's body and being partially charged by the stray arcs of electricity that jumped from the Zeus' Lance under his heart. Nonetheless, the feeling of the stray current was quite painful, forcing the demon to bite back a groan of pain. Electricity was never his strong suit, as proven many times before.

However, that did not stop the prince from fighting off the rest of the attacks, his hide deflecting the spears aimed at the chest, while he brought up a claw to save his eye from the last few spears. Once he heard the last of the weapons clatter against his thick paw, he lowered it to glare at the natives once more. Look at them, so weak, and yet they were managing to defeat him. He figured how they were able to by now, as he was starting to feel the pain in his body from where he was sliced open. His belly, his claws, his tail, even his jaw were damaged quite badly. It was only now that he was able to feel the pain from the encounter that happened so long ago so vividly. Before, it was but a light throb in the back of Prixlezub's mind, like the warning signs of a headache growing on the side of one's skull. Ah, but no matter, he refused to be brought down by pain or injury, pushing back the pain of his old and current injuries.

glancing around him, the demon prince sized up the remaining natives, sixteen of them in all. Hardy creatures, he had found through his current fight, but they certainly had their weaknesses. Especially so with that dark plumage of theirs, worn so proudly and adorned with skulls of their kills. Oh how he would love to wipe that confident look from their eyes, and silence their rallying cries once and for all. Looking back to the fire he had caused before, Prixlezub noticed just how big it was getting, the fire devouring the wood of the trees hungrily and roaring with strength. Yes, he knew what he needed to do next. Lowering his head, Prixlezub charged through the remaining ranks of the bird-like creatures, attempting to crush and trample down a good majority of them. However, the demon did not stop his charge at the end of the ranks, but instead kept moving, until he was at the tree's edge. The demon prince kicked off from the ground with his hooves and the remains of his claws, leaping right into the roaring flames that engulfed the forest. If the natives wanted to get him, they would have to march right into the very fire that killed their brethren.

The aim of the others had been most terrible, not a single hit hitting where they had hoped, instead all deflected by the great Beast. But the alien who had been slashed by the Beast had jabbed his spear into the stomach wound, the wood of the spear catching fire easily, but the diamond was in there deeply, and the young Native stared up at the Beast proudly.

The Natives cheered for their fellow alien, and the haze that had taken over their eyesight finally ebbed away. With their sight returned to normal, they had no doubts that they would win now. The beast glared at them fiercely and they glared back, meeting his gaze. The young Native stayed in front of Prix, an unwise move who would soon pay for. Indeed, when the Beast lowered his head and charged, the first one he hit was that young alien. The mighty head of the demon shoved him to the ground, whereupon he was trampled and killed. The demon continued to charge, and while a few of the Natives evaded his tank-like body, one even evading enough so as to only get grazed, 5 more did not. They were coldly trampled by the hooves, reduced to nothing, but spilt blood and crushed bodies and broken bones.

After killing more of their people, the demon disappeared into the fire. A few of the 10 that were left kept a steady gaze on the fire where it disappeared while the others attempted to see if there was anything to be done. There was not. Their companions, the ones they hunted with, their brethren, were dead. Even the brave one who had survived being grabbed by the demon and stared into the eyes of the Demon had been killed. They all bowed their heads, not just for those recently fallen, but everyone who had died today. Eventually, one spoke.

"Where...where do you think it went?" He asked hesitantly, glancing at the fires surrounding them.

"Obviously, it has perished in the flames. The demon bleeds. It can die like us, and it has." The tallest among them stated, with a stern voice. The first shuffled in place for a moment, obviously not satisfied with that answer.

"But...but it bleeds fire....it breathes fire....can fire kill it, if it IS fire?" He was rewarded with a glare.

"Its dead. Stop acting like a newborn. We must stop the fires before it gets to our home." He walked close to the fire, attempting to find out how to put this out. They had no water around, no way to put it out. However, the dark clouds on the horizon were promising. Perhaps some rain would put it out!

Behind him, the smaller bowed his head, still keeping an eye on the fires. This tribe really has a habit of ignoring the ones it shouldn't.

The crush of bone and the screams of the unfortunate natives was music to the prince's ears, having managed to kill six of them before diving into the fire. The tall flames of the burning forest madea great cover for his body, which was easily hidden among the sea of reds and yellows. The only thing that would have given away the prince's location was the blue fire atop his tail and neck, flickering dully against the warmer, dancing colors of the fire. Prixlezub retreated a bit further into the burning forest, its immolating roar drowning out the sounds of his heavy footsteps. While he was able to kill a decent sized number of them, the demon was still badly injured, finally sitting down where he could see the natives, but stay hidden as well. While he could not make out their language, the demon prince could certainly hear the feathery creatures talking among themselves in the distance. From what he could see, they were mourning their dead, foolish creatures. They thought he had disappeared for good, from what he saw. Their guard slackened, and all but one had turned away from their hidden enemy.

Yes, the smallest one was quite smart. From the way he still faced him, the demon figured he still knew he was out here. The tallest one's assumption that the demon had died was the most foolish of the lot, as he had clearly not died in the vacuum of space, he would not die at the hands of these inferior creatures. Their spears may be sharp, but his resolve was thick like the strongest ores. Speaking of which, the demon prince remembered he still had that crystal lodged in him, close to the heart. With his current state, if he just left it alone, it would most likely stay there. The thought of the constant interference with the major component of his heart was an unsettling one. As such, the demon rolled onto his side, prying open the wound with a bloodied claw, while the other reached inside. The process was painful, the demon's eyes flickering dangerously with every movement the claw-less talon made, until he reached the area where he felt the crystal to be. Then, like a piece of shrapnel being removed from someones limb, he pinched the crystal between his fingers, and drew it out carefully. Smoke rolled from his grill as he bit back the pain, the only sound coming from his mangled maw being a harsh groan. However, the intruding object was free, and he examined the prize that was held in his bloody claw.

Prixlezub had to admit, their weaponry was quite elegant looking, or at least the head of the spear was. He took a moment to watch how the many faces of the rock reflected the fire's light, before tossing it aside to be lost in the ash and smoke of the forest fire. He turned about, back onto his feet to sit. The demon stared through the fire, studying his enemies from afar. Good, they were still praying it seemed, that gave him time to quickly path up some of his wounds. He would not be able to heal anything, but he would make it damn hard for the natives to be able to exploit his torn stomach. If they destroyed his last eye, he could just as easily find them by scent and hearing. Their cheering and whooping would be easy to track, along with the fact they smelled like the animals they killed. It would be just like fighting paladins again, he thought.

Looking down, the demon quickly figured just what he needed to get through this fight. If obsidian could keep him imprisoned, then it could probably act as a tourniquet to stop all of this bleeding. Breathing a few licks of fire down at the already scorched forest floor, Prixlezub managed to make a pool of molten rock, the yellow glow of the substance starting to cool in the air that whipped about the fire. He quickly took claw-fulls of the magma, pinching the stomach wound closed with once claw, while the other applied it to the cut. Within a few minutes, the demon prince had made a thick plate of cooling obsidian over his stomach wound, the magma now black and sticking to the hide like tar. However, the obsidian would not melt and fall off like tar would, having sealed the wound quite well. Next, the demon prince dipped his tail and claws into the magma, coating them as well with the protective covering. Once Prixlezub had covered his wounds with the obsidian, he got to his feet, keeping low to the ground as he stalked among the burning forest, watching and figuring his next move on the natives.

As the smaller watched the fire, he saw some blue among the red and orange flames. The fire atop the beast was blue, wasn't it? And he couldn't help but feel as if they were being watched, even as everyone stood around helplessly. Their only hope was the rain cloud, wasn't it? Unless they fire stopped on its own of course. However, some of the others got the idea to smother the fire, and so began to dig into the ground, kicking up dirt once more, and layering it atop the fires. While it didn't help much for the rapid fires from where the fire began, it helped the edges of the fire that threatened to spread.

The smaller made his way to the tallest among them. "I really think the Demon is still alive....please, just listen to me-"

The taller suddenly turned and the next thing the smaller knew, he was on the ground, arm hurting from the way he had been grabbed and tossed to the ground. The taller glared down at him from above.

"You're going to upset the others. Do you want to do that? When we have this fire to deal with? When we've had so many of our brothers die today? All you will do create tension among us, watching the fires until we jump in from our paranoia! Do you understand?"

At the harsh words, the smaller flinched, eyes averted to the ground. The abrupt rudeness hurt, but it hurt even more because he was so sure he was right! If none of them will listen...more might die.

    "I understand, but-"

The taller grabbed him up by the shoulders, and grabbed the edges of the skull that adorned his face, the smaller's eyes widening. To have the skull taken off would not only be an act of much disrespect to him, but if no one objected to the taller's words, could also make him an outcast. Being unmasked was usually done after a crime of some sort. Why was trying to tell the truth now a crime?! Reason, sense, all of it, a crime in the eyes of this boorish, mad creature that was his brother! And yet...

"....You're right...its dead." The words came out dully, and there was no feeling behind them, other than defeat, but the taller let him go and stood to his full height, satisfied.

"I knew you'd see reason. Everyone, keep smothering the fires!" He walked away, leaving the smaller alone for now, and he still stole some glances at the fire, but he kept quiet. He knew he was right. It would be obvious soon enough.
