A Great Way to Start the Holidays...

Post by Agents K and J on Sat Dec 24, 2011 12:11 am

    Date: December 19th, 2011

You know, when the Agents got the call real early morning about a scuffle down at the Rockefeller house, they hadn't been expecting this. The place was a complete mess. Broken dishes, trashed furniture, scorched walls; you name it, it looked like a war zone. Everything was upturned, and that literally meant everything. There wasn't a room in the house that was pristine or spared. And every room you went into, it was the same story: charred pockets all around, with hardly a soul in this once beautiful, cozy little suburban home.

"Damn... It's like a hurricane went on up in here." J remarked, rather taken aback as he finished his first surveying report.

His partner, K, was busy in the living room and the senior officer looked over at his younger partner before going back to studying the night's aftermath. "More like laser fire. These craters in the wall; they're concurrent with what we have on file for ion weaponry."

"Ion weaponry?" J repeated as he scratched the back of his head. "Well... what's a decent family living out in the burbs doing with ion weaponry? I didn't pick up any traces of weapons stored in the house. You thinkin' foul play?" Great, a possible murder mystery. J wasn't so sure he was liking the sound of that.

But that was exactly what K was thinking, and he grunted. "No traces of the victims, forced entry; we're looking at something beyond foul play, Slick. Someone intentionally targeted this family and abducted them, along with their dog."

J gasped. "No." He couldn't believe what he was hearing! "The dog, too! Damn! What's wrong with folks this coming Christmas!? I thought white people enjoyed their family time, their good dinner, and opening them white people presents! This is like a robbery gone bad, or somethin'!"

"Mm. Keep looking, Slick." K advised before he went about the house to make another round of notes. "Something is bound to show up sooner or later, and debrief any other law officer who arrives at the crime scene. I have a feeling that this is going to take a strong stomach."

The younger Agent could only gulp as he knew K was usually never wrong about his crime scenes. "Kay." He acknowledged, suddenly not feeling very warm at the moment.

Looked like these poor folks wouldn't be enjoying their Christmas anytime soon...

“Strong stomach, you’re right!” a chipper voice joined the group. It belonged to the bobcat that suddenly bounced upon the couch and made himself comfortable there, one leg resting upon the other and his face buried in a dirty TV Magazine; as though he had been there the whole time already.
“There’s still a whole Christmas Ham in the kitchen! Can we eat that or is it evidence?”
Because, man, have you SEEN that thing?! It would be a WASTE!
“Oh, and did you know that there’s a Disney Movie is running on Christmas?!” the toon threw in jolly as ever, before pointing the magazine at J, “We should watch that together!”

Don’t you sometimes question yourself why exactly you bring this guy along? The same toon who stated that the owners obviously knew how to party when you first entered?

    Oh, no...

Agent J flinched as he heard a familiar voice, and the man turned around to see none other than -- can you believe it -- Bonkers on the couch. Like he owned the place! Out of all the help they send, they send the bobcat. What happened to the professional help? "B! Don't be disrespectin' the house! People are missing!" J quickly came over and took the magazine before K came in on them. If he did, he'd have a fit! Well, a quiet one. "And no, you can't the ham. It's not evidence, but it could be." Setting the magazine down for now, J looked around and scratched the top of his head. Was he really going to ask this question? Guess so.

"B, whatcha think went down in here?" He asked. Maybe the officer had some insight?

“Huuurm…” the toon over emphasized the sound as you could literally hear the gears rattling in the background.
“EITHER!” he exclaimed, one finger raised educationally, “We have to deal with a robbery – thoughwecannottellwhatismissing” so that option was VERY unlikely, right? “…OR the owners know how to celebrate their Pre-Christmas and the charlady is lazy!”

    LOGIC!

With that the bobcat lazily cross his arms behind his head and slipped back on the couch, lounging around.
“Case closed. It couldn’t be a murder mystery, there’d be bodies.”
    Whut the §$%§$%
“Since there are none, they’re obviously away. Maybe they’re all on vacation!” Yeah, but how did that explain the mess? “And the party was caused by… the rebellious teenage son who is now scared of being grounded and parties on elsewhere with his friends.”
    Oh, for the sake of…

    "Oooor... Nope!"
Obviosuly it couldn't have been a tiny reptile crawling out of the toilet pot and leading an army of death-robots to this house. I mean, who even comes up with that? That's too absurd, even for a toon.

Okay, so obviously asking for B's input was out of the question. J only rolled his eyes and felt like hitting the toon with that damn magazine. "Forget I asked, B..." With a sigh he left the bobcat to his work, instead choosing to do some investigation of his own. While Bonkers, over there, was trying to puzzle things out with his "logic" J was going to rely on his. Walking around the various rooms, mainly the living room and the kitchen, he tapped his chin and squeezed an eye shut as he glanced around.

"Hmm... no blood." As far as he was concerned, he couldn't spot any droplets with the naked eye. They might need a tech to help out, but if K hadn't spoken up already... J spun around in place, getting a good look of the kitchen. More of those seared pocket marks, but no bullets... And no apparent retaliation from the original inhabitants of this room, either. The knives were still in their drawer and J hadn't found any sort of gun. This house seemed rather peaceful for the most part. What gives? "Nothing in the kitchen... I should go check the other rooms down the hall."

He did just that and went down the corridor to his right, taking the first room on his left.

    A closet.

Nope, after sticking his head in and finding nothing he shut the door and continued.

This time he walked into a child's room -- a little girl's, by the looks of it. All of her dolls and toys were still here, nothing disturbed. Like the closet, there wasn't anything amiss and he scratched his head, walking back out. Damn... a kid had to be involved. That was never a good start.

    "Over here, Slick." Huh? K?

Upon hearing K's voice J came right on over, walking into the bathroom and spying his older partner waving one of them gizmos around. "Yo, what is it, K? Find somethin'?"

"Somethings." His partner corrected before showing a winking red light. Uh-oh... J knew what that meant.

"Robots." J said aloud, glancing over his shoulders repeatedly. "I take it you... got a hunch? B isn't much help, and I haven't found anything else besides what we've already discovered. Think you can find the robots that did this with that thing?"

What did K look like, a miracle worker? The Agent shook his head and continued to wave the device up and down around the bathroom walls, apparently trying to pinpoint something. "I'm afraid not, Slick. The best I can do with the tools at hand is tell you what you already know; ion traces are all over this house along with an organic material that I can't put a finger on. Are you sure you two didn't find anything?"

Organic material? J rubbed the back of his neck, thinking. "Well... I don't think so, K. All of my scans came back clean. There's no blood, no signs of a struggle, and no traces of the original owners. There's also a kid, too..."

There was a slight grumble from K, but he otherwise didn't say much. "Keep looking. There has to be something here that we're missing, or something was taken. Something important. Whatever it is we're looking for will show up."

    And hopefully soon...

“Oh, I found something,” the toon suddenly whirled up on the bathroom door with a grin on his face. Instead of naming it however, he simply pointed at the magazine that J was holding. “Have you taken a look at it, yet?”

Yeah, yeah, Disney movie on Christmas, he knew that right? Wait…

Bonkers pulled an overgrown magnifier from his pocket and gave it to J in exchange for the magazine. He flipped open the page he had previously noticed and pointed to a few traces of dirt on the edge of the pages. Mud possibly?
Well wasn’t that strange ~ Weren’t living rooms supposed to be clean?

    Not quite that useless, huh?!

Both Agents stopped their conversation and turned to Agent B, J groaning while K quirked a brow. Found something? The magazine?

"This?" J didn't see what the talk was about. If it was about that Christmas special on the Disney channel, so help him he was going to -- huh? He stopped griping and let B do his thing, the toon pulling out a magnifying glass and bringing it over what appeared to be... "Hey, what's that?" Something brown, and not his black ass for once!

Whatever it was got K's attention and he came over to study it, chiming gizmo in hand. "Hmm. Move over, Slick. Let's find out." Bringing the gadget closer, Agent K let it register the unknown material for a moment before it winked a new colour -- brown. Obvious, but nonetheless important. J, however, had never seen that colour come up before and he looked over K's shoulder, perplexed.

"Uh, what does that mean, K?" He asked. Was it J, or did K always get the cool, nifty gear?

K just blinked once at the magazine and then he straightened, pocketing his device. "Shit." He literally said.

Damn, K must have messed up. "What's the matter, K? Something wrong?" But J was going to be given an unpleasant surprise as his partner glanced at him, head shaking.

"No, Slick. Shit." He repeated, pointing to the spots in the magazine before adjusting his tie and walking over towards the toilet. "Good work, Agent B. And Slick, you better was your hands."

    UGH!

“Thank you!” the bobcat exclaimed with a proud salutation and kept an eye on J. Once he was done with washing his hands, the toon would be next in the row immediately. Ah, hopefully they hadn’t any chemical soap here.
“Did you know that stuff is spread everywhere in this house?” Bonkers frowned slightly. Tiny footprints everywhere! Finding them without the magnifying glass? No chance! “Either they have rats here, or the charlady IS very lazy!”
But hey, maybe they could find one of these rats and question them? “Mr. K?” the toon eventually asked while he examined the soaps, “Do you have a gadget that translates animal...ish?”
That’d be really cool, you know!

While J was too busy muttering curses under his breath and furiously scrubbing his hands, K chose to be preoccupied with his thorough inspection. With a satisfying snap of latex gloves, the Agent was fully prepared to conquer what evidence the toilet might be coveting from him. "Spread everywhere, huh?" Now, K found that very unusual and in his line of work unusual typically lead to the answer. "I don't think it's rats, but you're onto something, Agent B." Seeing as how the only place fecal matter can proliferate itself within the house, the Agent looked down at the toilet and he, without hesitation, dipped his gloved hand in.

"Aw, hell, K! That's nasty!" Oh. Looks like J was done cleansing himself.

But K paid no mind and simply... swished his arm around. Lord, that was gross. At least he had rolled up his sleeve and used some metal tweezers. What was he looking for? "If my guess is correct, then the clue we need to get us on the right track is somewhere around -- here." With both Agents watching closely, K stood back onto his two feet and he turned around to show his colossal find.

Pinched between the tweezers was none other than... a tiny scale. A red scale, and it was dull. "This is what we missed." K stated.

"A scale?" J couldn't believe it, and he found that to be incredibly random. "What's a scale doing in the bathroom, especially the toilet. Don't tell me that them sewer crocodiles exist, K. I don't want to know about that..." Oh, the irony!

Bagging the evidence K had another idea. "I don't know why it's in here, but we're going to get to the bottom of this. Agent B." He looked over at the bobcat. "You mentioned something about translating animal. How come?"

Since B had proven useful so far, K wanted to know the fellow officer's thoughts.

“Well, that,” he pointed at the scale that K had fished out, “doesn’t belong to a rat – but maybe we could find the crocodile it belongs to and ask it what happened, you know…” the toon stopped himself to shuffle with his foot, “whatever leaves such tiny footprints might have found a hideout during all of that jazz.”
The big… robot party you know? Small animals weren’t too fond of noise after all!

Or... maybe there was an OTHER animal in the house. Sounded like something was strolling around in the kitchen...

Find the crocodile and asked what happened? J thought B was joking, right? Right...? Tell the young, good-looking Agent that you were joking! But apparently K took the toon's comments to heart, and he threw his latex glove into another baggie, cleaning his arm with a disinfectant wipe. "This is Portal Breach, Slick." He told his partner dryly. "Anything is possible, even sewer crocodiles."

J could only gulp. "Y-Yeah... I guess so, K." Nightmares! Nightmares abound!

    Crash!

    What was that!?

Instantly both Agents withdrew their firearms, the collective whine filling the tiny bathroom. "K! Something's in the house!" J hissed quietly, directing two fingers in the general area of the sound. "Think it's someone snooping around where they shouldn't?"

"Or it's someone coming back to finish the job." K muttered back.

Together both Agents went ahead of Agent B, J choosing to cover the bobcat while they secured the living room perimeter behind cover. When nothing showed or was revealed, they sneaked towards the kitchen and both men took the doorway's side. On the count of three, K started the silent countdown with his fingers and once it hit zero... They both whirled into the kitchen, guns drawn, and shouted loudly:

    "MIB! FREEZE!"
    "MIB! FREEZE!

If that didn't stop anyone in their tracks, nothing would.

Yes, Sewer Crocodiles! Bonkers didn’t know one personally, but he surely didn’t doubt they existed.
If he ever met one, the bobcat would have to introduce the two of them to the reptile!

…and who knew; maybe he would have the chance to do that very soon!

But his bosses didn’t seem to be pleased at all by the sounds from the kitchen, and Bonkers didn’t like the change of mood that it caused. Both of the Agents suddenly seemed so tense, but he carefully followed after anyway.

    "MIB! FREEZE!"
    "MIB! FREEZE!"

    “Arf!”
    Arf?

And in the next instance one of the Agents would find himself tackled by a dog. A big dog. A big and happy dog.
“Ooooh”, Bonkers gushed behind them, “He likes you!”
…or did it? Those were pretty big teeth, weren’t it?

With a smile the toon passed his colleagues to pet the dog and ruffle his fur a bit before he turned to look back at K.
    “So, do you have one?”

    Yes, arf?

There was the unmistakeable patting of paws, the telltale signs of laboured panting, and Agent J had no time to react. He could only turn around and gasp. BAM! Something heavy ran into him, something furry and covered in drool. "Eeurgh! Get it off me!" The breath! The BREATH! It was like smelling a rotten meatloaf! "K! KAAAAAAY!"

"Relax, Slick." Replied an ever calm K. He came over and looked at his downed partner, his face upside down in J's vision while a pair of happy eyes and a wet muzzle stared down the young man. "It seems you made a friend." No kidding. B had come over to pet the dog, much to J's chagrin, while K didn't lift a finger to help. Thanks a lot, K! Apparently he was too busy digging into his pockets, perhaps for another gadget. "I don't have anything that speaks specifically animal, but if our friend here has the rudimentary foundation of human speech, maybe." That means if Fido, here, knew what YES and NO were, they had a good chance of communicating.

J just grunted and tried to get the dog off of him. "Just ask it a damn question already!" He wheezed. "I'm not a mat, alright!?"

    Someone was grumpy today.

“Sheeesh!” Bonkers backed off from J’s pushiness, “Take it easy, okay?”
With that, the toon quickly walked over to where the Ham was placed – probably what the dog had been after in first place – and cut a piece of it off. Evidence or not – they had something far better now, and that should do it, right?
“Heeeere, doggie, doggie, doggie!” he tried to lure the large animal over, “Heel, heel!”
    That’s a good boy! …Or was it?

The bobcat temptingly presented the food, however holding on to it tight enough to make clear that he wouldn’t let go of it too easily.
“You get this fiiiine yum-yum if you answer us a few questions? How about it?”
The question was… would the big animal play along?
