CHARACTER PRESENTATION TEMPLATE

In order for you to roleplay on Portal Breach, you need to make a presentation about your character. The presentation normally includes details such as a character's name, age, personality and background, and is a key step in order to be accepted to roleplay here. Although most roleplays usually require a writing sample, Portal Breach's writing sample is specific and is supposed to explain how your character made their way here. This thread gives you some details about how to go about it, and then you can read this thread to choose a place your character winds up in.

Below is the template you must use when making your character's presentation. Also make sure to read this section of the Guidelines, as it explains in further detail how to go about choosing and making your character. If you find yourself having difficulties, you can browse through some of our accepted presentations for ideas and samples.

*The title of your thread should be your character's name. In brackets, you should add the name of the series your character is from, or simply (Original Character) if they are of your own making. If they are a fan character for a show, you should add (NAME OF SERIES - Fan Character) instead. Your title should also contain [WIP] in brackets if you are still working on your presentation.*

--PROFILE--

Name: *Insert your character's name here, and any titles if they have any.*

Age: *How old is your character? Keep it reasonable, and consistent with what you have on your character sheet.*

Species: *Insert your character's species here. Remember that there can only be two halves, and do try to keep mixed heredity to at most fourths. It's difficult to keep track of characters that happen to be 3/2 ettin, 1/4 human, and 1/16 bear. You only need to write a description here if your character isn't human, or not fully human. For established races, it doesn't have to be too detailed--just put down the basics. For original races, do put detail into your descriptions, so we know what they're like.*

Appearance: *Tell us what your character looks like, with as much detail as you feel is necessary. Alternatively, you can post a picture for us, but we prefer descriptions, as your character sheet on your profile usually contains the appropriate image.*

Personality: *How does your character think, feel, and act, in private and in public? Does he, she, or it have any unusual habits or quirks? Write it all down here with at least two paragraphs (200 words).*

Background: *Tell us about your character's personal history--who is the character, exactly, and what has happened throughout the character's life? Use at least two paragraphs (or 500 words).*

Skills and Abilities: *Write down any special things your character can do, from cooking to dancing to shooting eye lasers everywhere. Magical, technological, genetic, or otherwise, it all goes in here. (At least three, and please be detailed.)*

Weaknesses: *Write down your character's weaknesses, be they physical, mental, emotional, or racial. Anything from their personality to any defects, if they have any. (At least three, and please be detailed.)*

World: *This section is optional. This is where you put everything about your character's home world or universe--what their planet or country was like, how the laws of physics and/or magic functioned, and other such details.*

Other: *Also optional--if you don't have anything to add, omit this. This is for anything you can think of that doesn't fit into the other categories.*

Group(s): *Here, you can choose which of the available groups found at the bottom of the page and above the chatbox best fits your character. You are free to choose between 1 to 3 groups. Remember, the color your username will be is determined by the ordering of first group you are in.*

--PRESENTATION--

*Here, you need to write at least two paragraphs (around 500 words) about your character's arrival at Portal Breach. Try to keep things detailed. Not too much--we don't expect a novel in your first post on the site--but don't be afraid to flesh out the narrative if you're feeling adventurous.*
