Link sheathed his sword, and turned to Impa as she spoke. His head still hurt a bit, but nothing that a gulp of Lon Lon milk wouldn't cure. He nodded to let her know he was fine and then reached down to pick up the boomerang he'd tossed. It wasn't very high quality, made of wood and a little bent, but it might come in handy so he tucked it in his belt. He'd discard it after this adventure since he had a much better one at home, but since he hadn't brought it along, it wouldn't be of any use here and this one would do for now.

"Well, since we're all okay, let's go!" Tatl bobbed impatiently, floating a little ways down the tunnel and turning to wait for the other two.

Link gave Impa a slightly apologetic grin for Tatl's behavior. She certainly was nothing like Navi, and Link was starting to doubt she'd ever learn any manners. But Impa had been around Tatl for a while now and so hopefully wouldn't mind the outspoken fairy's... outspokeness.

Although he wasn't sure if they were going the right direction to find cows, usually they weren't far from the entrance. "Do you think there are any cows in here?" He viced he question, looking to Impa for her thoughts on the matter. But almost as if on cue to his asking, a distant mooooooooo echoed through the cave. Link had admittedly never met any cows that weren't Lon Lon cows (he was sure that the Romani cows must be related to them, close enough at least) but he doubted that any other kind of cow would be found in a cave. Which meant that mooing had to be from the cows they were seeking!

Impa returned Link's apologetic grin with a bemused one of her own, as well as a nod to indicate that Tatl's behavior was quite all right. She was very used to the fairy's outspokenness by now, but she frankly felt that it helped to give her character. Being true to ones personality was to be true to oneself, and Impa definitely respected that across virtually the entire spectrum of personalities. The pale yellow fairy from Termina might have been very different from Navi and quite feisty, but she was loyal and sweet, or at least nicer than she would ever admit to being. Even though Navi was not linked with the Hero of Time right now, the Sage of Shadow was still glad to see that he'd found a good fairy companion, regardless of the circumstances that had brought them together.

The two continued on their path through the grotto, this one proving to be far more extensive than they had surmised earlier, but that only added to the adventure for them. The Sheikah had been just about to respond to the boy's question, but a moment after he had uttered it, a distant yet very distinct mooooooooo was heard, echoing through the walls of the cave almost as if it was calling them forward. Smiling to herself as well as to Link, Impa nodded, saying, "I do believe that that answers our question."

At that, the two pressed onward, prepared to find the source of the mooing whilst keeping their guard up just in case if any more threats appeared underground.

The cave seemed to be becoming more dungeon-like the further they went, although they were lucky to not run into anymore enemies so far. Bricks became visible in the walls and the tunnel began to look more man-made. Tatl emitted a sudden chime and flew up in front of them. "Watch your footing!" She advised, flying low again to show they'd reached some kind of underground chasm, and the path they'd been following has become a brick bridge. The bridge itself was in pretty bad condition, but it looked like it would hold their weight.

Link stepped slowly onto the bridge, and since he didn't hear any cracking, he continued across it. As he went he chanced a glance over the side into the total darkness of the chasm. He hoped the cows weren't down there somehow--they'd probably never be able to get them out!

The bridge reached the far side of the pit and Link stopped to wait for Impa and look at what was in front of them now. A sealed door, with two small openings, like ventilation tunnels maybe, above it. "Tatl, see if you can see anything through those holes." He said to the fairy, who nodded and promptly flew up into one of them. As soon as she disappeared the room got darker, but she was only gone for a second.

"It leads to the other side, but there's no way you can fit through there." She said, flying back down to the two. They'd had to open the door if they wanted to progress.

As Link, Tatl, and Impa continued through the cave, the Sheikah noticed that it was starting to resemble more of a dungeon than a simple cavern network. As the rocky walls began to shift into brick structures and interesting architecture, she glanced up when the fairy darted forward with a distinctive alert chime and warning. Sure enough, the warning was well-received as the cave turned dungeon was opening up into a seemingly bottomless chasm, a time-worn brick bridge being the only think connecting them to the next true piece of solid ground.

Stepping lightly, Impa carefully made her way onto the bridge, following after Link to make certain that the lad was able to get across safely. Once he had made it across and the bridge continued to show that it was stable enough, she made her final steps across as well, soon turning her attention to the sealed door that rested in front of them. The structure of everything down here was different from any dungeon she had ever been in, but the general layout and concept was relatively familiar, or at least familiar enough that they could decipher it. As Link asked Tatl to check out the small openings on the door, Impa shifted her gaze upwards, noting that even though they were pretty far underground, there seemed to be a skyward opening. As she studied the area around them further, the faint lines in the ceiling began to make far more sense, as a few sun switches not entirely unlike those that were prominent in the Spirit Temple were seen situated on the walls of the chasm.

Now if only there was a way to open that hole in the ceiling… it was far too high for them to accurately throw a bomb at it, and the general setup of it did not seem to lend itself to simple explosions. No, there had to be a switch of some sort, and the only question was where. After looking about and not noticing one, Impa focused her Eyes of Truth on the immediate area, slowly scanning their surroundings before resting her eyes on what would have otherwise appeared to be a blank spot on the floor situated between two of the four currently unlit stone torch posts. However, the Sheikah was now able to see what was really there, and the slightest of smirks soon graced her lips.

"Well now… this might prove useful…" said Impa as she stepped forward, soon gripping what appeared to Link and Tatl as nothing but thin air. However, as she flexed her right arm slightly and pulled back with some effort, a previously invisible lever appeared, and as the Sage of Shadow pulled it back, the lines up on the ceiling shifted, soon releasing a bit of dust as they opened up, revealing a steady beam of sunlight even all the way down in this hidden dungeon. "That should help us make our way through here."

Link and Tatl watched in amazement as Impa quickly located a hidden switch, activating it to open a hole in the ceiling that let a shaft of light down into the middle of the room. Link squinted as his eye adjusted to the brightness, finally able to see well enough to spot something he hadn't noticed before: sun switches! What were those doing here?

"Wait, look at those! Tatl shouted, seeing them too. "Well, don't just stand there!" Link walked over to the light and looked at the five switches on the wall. Odds are only one of them would work. Or they might all be traps. But he wouldn't know until he tried.

He took his mirror shield and aimed it at one of them. Bad choice, the sun switch burst into flame, leaving only a blank spot on the wall. But that's not all it did. A floor master dropped from the ceiling, Link jumping to the side to avoid being crushed by it.

"Great, why did you pick that one?!" Tatl fussed. But Link knew the monster was weak to light, and it was pretty convenient that he happened to be standing in a beam of it and holding a mirror shield.

(roll of 1 = door opens, will edit to show Link's response)

The floormaster landed with a loud and unsettling thumb, turning its attention Link immediately as he was the nearest target. The rotting, giant hand, standing on its fingers like something out of a horror movie, turned a bright shade of green and charged the boy, trying to knock him out of the lit spot. It would be even better if it could knock him off the ledge.

These two should have been grateful though, because a floormaster was far less trouble than a menacing wallmaster. This monster wasn't going to haul them back to the entrance of the cave if it happened to catch them in its clutches, after all.

Impa watched as Link took his Mirror Shield and moved to direct a beam at sunlight towards one of the sun switches. Unfortunately, it seemed that the first sun switch he shone the light on was the trigger for a booby trap, for instead of the door moving to open even partially, a familiar foe from Hyrule dropped from the ceiling, landing dangerously close to Link as the lad jumped to the side and out of its way. It was a Floormaster, a dangerous monster related to the dreaded Wallmaster. At least now that this one had dropped it could not retreat to the ceiling, but Impa knew that they had best take care of it quickly before it made too much of a problem of itself.

Quickly readying her knife, the Sheikah dashed forward and slashed twice at the oversized decaying hand as it missed its charge at Link, striking at the fifth digit so as to throw off its balance at least slightly, right before doubling back and holding a defensive stance. Even though her blows just barely missed, she kept her eyes trained on the Floormaster, not about to let it out of her sight lest it catch either of them at a good angle.

"Just like in the Shadow Temple, Link! Let us take it out quickly,"
called Impa, inwardly a bit glad that they both had plenty of experience with dispatching enemies of this sort. That battle experience alone was definitely going to prove useful in this encounter.

Link was lucky to avoid the floor master's attack, and he stepped back into the beam of light. he nodded to Impa, but didn't turn away from the floor master. As the monster stood back up on it's fingers and turned back towards them, he lifted the mirror shield and reflected the light at it, hoping he'd be able to aim before it scurried towards them. That the undead were weak to light seemed obvious now, but he hadn't had much in the way of light weapons to fight them when he'd first encountered undead in Hyrule, it was in Termina that he'd used light numerous times against the living dead, including using it to free the king of Ikana from the darkness that had overtaken him. It was amazing how a simple beam of light could be so powerful.

Somehow managing to avoid the quick strikes from the Sheikah as it missed its charge at the boy, the Floormaster whipped around with a split second to spare before the boy it had first targeted attempted to shine that hateful light from above on it. Just barely avoiding the reflected sunlight, the Floormaster skittered about to the side, trying to get a better angle on its two possible targets and determine which one it should attempt to tackle next.

Managing to line up a possible attack on either of them, the Floormaster inwardly waffled over which one to attack. That boy had tried to harm it with that bright sunlight, but at the same time, the Sheikah wasn't as close to that obtrusive beam as the boy was…

Yes! The Floormaster could charge the Sheikah and then tackle the boy after that! Hopping back into place, the decaying monster leapt towards the taller Hyrulean, prepared to tackle her with its manual might.

This Floormaster was a particularly deft one, as not only did it just barely avoid Impa's strikes, it managed to dodge the reflected beam of sunlight from Link's Mirror Shield as well. Impa narrowed her gaze at the monster, waiting for the chance to strike again but soon finding herself focused on a Floormaster that was making a flying leap towards her, fingers outstretched in an attempt to grasp and tackle her to the ground.

The Sheikah quickly jumped to the side, but the monster still managed to get a good blow on her arm as she dodged most of its attempted attack. Thankfully, she had only been caught by one of its fingers instead of its entire grip, and that attack only steeled her resolve to take out this foe as quick as possible. Swiftly turning around, Impa made a backwards stab towards the beast before slashing as she wound up facing it again. Those two strikes very narrowly missed their mark, and right after they were attempted, Impa suddenly disappeared, soon reappearing on the side of the sunbeam opposite Link. If they could get the Floormaster into the sunlight that was penetrating this cave, then they might be able to inflict even more damage against it.
