While Impa's first hit had stuck true, it had been strong enough to knock Queen Gohma back and thus out of range of her next two strikes. It worked out though, for whilst the Sheikah brought the parasitic armored arachnid down to her weakest state yet, Link was able to dash in and deliver the final blows to her. Standing back and keeping her defenses up just in case, Impa watched as Queen Gohma went into her final death throes, right before falling down and disappearing into the greenish-blue flames that often marked the defeat of larger monsters from Hyrule. Only once their victory had been proven with the appearance of a blue portal and a natural doorway opening at the back of the cavern did the Sheikah let her shadow blade disappear with a flex of her right hand. A pleased smile soon formed on her lips, and as she relaxed her stance, she turned to Link and nodded to the boy.

    The battle had been won.

Shortly after the new opening appeared beyond the portal's position, a very distinct "moo" echoed into the cavern. Ah-ha, now that had to be the source of the bovine noises they had caught earlier in their subterranean trek. As a second, slightly different "moo" echoed through, it appeared that their quest was about to come to an end on a successful note. The adventure had been a fun one, and knowing that they had been able to find some cows a new, warm home as well as get their own pieces of home back was definitely a wonderful bonus.

"That was a battle well fought, Link... and thank you for your targeting assistance, Tatl," stated Impa, genuinely proud of her young charge and his fairy companion. She soon shifted her gaze to the new opening, her smile showing some of the confidence that she felt in their quest nearing its end. "It sounds like our goal is just beyond that entrance... shall we?"

    Bom-BOM. Dun-DUN-dun-DU-------N, Dun-DUUUUUUUN.

Okay, first things first, allow this rp-er to squee and swoon over the genius and awesomeness of that bit in the NPC post. Swooooon~ squeeeeeeeee~

    Ahem!

As soon as the last sword strike hit the monster's eye, Link leapt backwards, clearing of the creature's immediately flailing range.

"Watch out!" Tatl cautioned, as Queen Gohma reared back. The fairy flew over to her partner's side, feeling certain that they must have defeated it by now. Either Link and Impa are severely weakened here in Portal Breach or the arachnid boss had gotten very strong because usually a creature of this size only took about three hits before they're dead. This one took...how many? Tatl harrumped, "About time and you're welcome, Impa."

They watched as Gohma faded away, feeling a hint of nostalgia at the scene. Link turned and shared a victorious smile with Impa then his attention got diverted to the sound of a door opening and subsequent mooing.

"I can't believe we came all this way and had to fight a boss just for cows. They better be worth it."

"They are," Link assured her and answered the Sage, "Yes, let's."He put away his sword, made sure to stay away from the blue portal and made for the newly opened doorway, certain Impa would be following closely. "It sounds like there's more than one. Would you think they're the same as the ones from our world?"

It wasn't so much that Link and Impa had had to fight a menace from Hyrule just for cows as it was the fact that they had had to fight to keep their lives... and gain an infinite source of health-replenishing milk. Granted, the mere idea of fighting Queen Gohma (or any other boss for that matter) for Lon Lon Cows was rather amusing in hindsight... regardless, this adventure would still make for a great tale that the two friends could share. The Sheikah imagined that the future Link back at the Stock Pot Inn might like to hear about their quest today... and hopefully, they would be able to go on another with him soon as well.

No matter how many cows were behind the doorway ahead of them, the experience gained and stronger bond that Link and Impa were able to forge made this quest more than worth it. As the young hero made his way towards the new doorway, Impa followed right behind him, soon nodding at his question. "They certainly sound like it... and from the looks of it, they most definitely are."

At the second part of Impa's reply, she and the boy had fully entered the new chamber, and right before them were two large, healthy, black and white blotched cows. One look at their body shape and horns soon confirmed that yes, the cows trapped in this cavern were in fact the fabled Lon Lon Cows. They were both munching on a patch of grass that had somehow managed to grow in this dank part of the caverns where barely any light could filter in, but even with the odd home that the two bovines had wound up in, they appeared to be just fine. If they could be this well down in a cave, then that was just one more thing that made them like the Lon Lon cows back home. They certainly were intriguing animals...

With another smile to Link, Impa stepped towards the two cows, soon very gently placing her right hand on the shoulder of the one that was a little closer to her. The cow met this action with a pleasant "MOOOOO", and in response, the Sheikah moved to gently stroke the cow's side. The cows were perfectly all right, but it was still a good idea to help make sure that they were calm before either of them tried to coax them into the blue portal in the previous cavern.

"I do believe that we can call this quest a grand success," mused Impa, turning to smile a bit more broadly to Link.

And Link smiled broadly back in return whilst Tatl flitted around the cows, pausing to stop and swivel back and forth between Link, Impa and the cows every now and then. Oh she knew they came here with the goal of getting the cows. She understood that very well but now that they finally got the creatures, the idea of them actually bringing them back to the inn struck her again and she could not help but stare at each occupant in the room oddly as if they were the looniest bunch in the entire city. Thankfully, her snappy tongue held still and instead asked, "How are we to get them into the city? We have no leash and the traffic will scare them." (Okay so maybe a bit of condescending tone was still in there somewhere)

"It's not like you can just chase after them, holler 'hyaa!' and they'll run and bunch together or run laps around the fences."

Link reached up and scratched one of the cows near the ear, wondering if he could take them by the horns and stop them in their tracks if they did run wild in the city. "They're really calm creatures but we can take the quieter streets just in case."

Then he knelt and pulled two handfuls of grass from the ground, feeding it to the cows whilst taking a step slowly backwards once he got their attention. Come on, Lon Lon Cows, let's go home.

"Simple. We take them back to that portal with us… that will lead us back to the surface of the grasslands themselves," explained Impa, gesturing back through the doorway as she moved to gently scratch the cow behind her ears with her other hand. "From there, we help lead them to the city and through to the inn. It might take some time, but that slow and steady travel is likely to help the cows trust us more than in we simply warped back to the inn. That, and it will be easier on them whilst enabling them to get a bit of exercise… I imagine they might need a bit it they were trapped down here for too long."

It might have been common for Lon Lon cows to wind up in strange, underground locations, but they did still need the chance to stretch their legs outside of standing every now and then. This chamber was relatively spacious, but its layout did not lend to as much space as other grottoes did for the cows. Nodding at Link's statement, Impa said, "That's a good idea. Let's go home then."

At that, Impa started to lead the way towards the portal in the previous chamber as Link got the attention of both of the cows with the grass he had pulled. The two gentle bovines seemed genuinely interested in both the grass that the boy was holding as well as in following the two kind people that had rescued them from being trapped by that gigantic spider creature. Oh yes, they could tell that they were going to a nicer home now! One where they could graze all day and produce plenty of milk for these two! This was turning out to be a fine day for them after all!

A few moments later, and Impa was back at the blue portal. With a smile and a knowing nod to Link, the Sheikah set food in the portal, set to make their trek back to the inn. The quest had certainly been an intriguing one for the two adventurous friends, but she knew that neither of them would have rather had it any other way.
