    Side Project

Arrow landed outside a large garage, (or was it a docking bay?) At the tech dome. He kneeled on the ground for a moment, trying to catch his breath. The wrecked irken ship he had carried with him didn't weigh much, but it was strenuous on the arms after flying nonstop. Once recovered, the large dragon carried his loot into the dome. The old building was made for building and repairing robots, though it looked more like an assembly line when he wandered inside. This was useful. Arrow found himself an enclosed lab station, he dumped all the ship parts out on the table here and arranged them into the necessary order. He examined what was layed out in front of him for a short while and then ran out onto the assembly line. Picking parts from half built robots and tearing weapons from shelves. He retreated to his makeshift lab and started toying with his find.

Arrow returned with the weapons he had purchased and reviewed the blueprints he had layed out. The main parts of the android were already layed out. The chasy and jets were already in place, and the ship interface system had been used, allowing Arrow to transfer his knowledge to the robot. Now he just had to get the weapons system online and hook up the solar power system. Then maybe some paint... Arrow laughed suddenly, this whole scene was contradictory, he was a dragon building a robot. And though where he came from that wasn't so strange, here everything seemed to revert back to stereotypes. If anyone asked him what he was building this for he really would have no answer at all except for research. And also the fact that he looked ridiculous wielding firearms.

    A.N.D.R-U design, V.5. By Arrow.
A Tattered paper is pinned to an old cork board. The final design for the A.N.D.R-U attack and defense android, as well as some preliminary sketches are scattered about.

How long had the dragon toiled idly over this project? Months, weeks? None had helped him. He smirked. Like he needed it.
    ANDRU was complete.

    Time for a field test.

Arrow sat stock still outside the shadowed form of the abandoned tech dome, his eyes rested upon the horizon line as he patiently waited. A few minutes passed before a familiar silver form glinted in the sky, Arrow blinked and turned around to head back inside. Before he had reached the hanger his android had rejoined him. His rocket boosters slipped back into place and the robot alighted upon the ground to walk with its creator. "Good evening ANDRU, I'm glad you made it".

"What do you require Sir?" said the bot in its flat emotionless tone.

"You remember your creation and what you were made of yes? Well I've repaired the leftovers from Riv's downed ship. I've added alot to it of course, to make it useful to me. But an important part of the ships programming is missing I've discovered, a part that's inside of you..." Arrow slowed his pace as they approached his work space, the majority of the tech domes interior had been gutted and converted to a large if unorthodox lab. The robot assembly lines had been repaired, though shut off. And in the center of the setup, was a loading dock that had been cut into the hanger. Upon a flight pad there, rested the repaired and improved irken spittle runner. It looked much less like an irken ship now however, and more like a massive crystallized comet. Odd mechanical monstrosities of unknown purpose and make sprouted from the back, giving it a more streamlined if not deadly appearance. Runes carved across the ships hull glowed with an otherworldly light. Most of the technology in this ship would not be designed for another couple thousand years, for it was from Arrows realm, though a decent amount of magic had been poured into it as well, to fill in the spots where Arrows knowledge was lacking. Books and strange looking tools were tossed here and there, and the ships cockpit was open to the elements, wiring frayed in places where it was unfinished. The ships programming had been ripped out.

ANDRU observed everything around him with his single red eye. "You need me deactivated Sir?" he asked unwaveringly.

Arrow blinked, "No no no ANDRU. You won't be deactivated, for long that is... I need a closer look at your programming is all. Once I've made a copy of what's in that head of yours you'll be up and running again". Arrow's scales prickled on the back of his neck. It felt odd playing the scientist, but Sranko wasn't here to do it, so the work was left to him. And ANDRU of course, abided by its masters request and set himself upon the work table. "First ANDRU, I need you debriefed" chuckled Arrow at his bots eagerness. A small slim disk ejected from one of the slots in AndRU's face plate. Arrow examined it and set it on a nearby desk for later. "Let's begin shall we?"

Hours passed before Arrow was finished. ANDRU had been patched back up and the dragons' work yielded a copy of ANDRU's programming. It had been stripped down and reconverted to work for a ship once more. Of course, this was no battleship. Merely a pod to allow space travel. Arrow had no interest in inter-galactic wars and dog-fighting. So despite the ships' appearance, it was still relatively simple in design. And now with its updated programming, it should run much smoother than before.
Arrow buffed the ship up and locked it down, it would only respond to his bio-signature, so theft was not a worry to him, but still Arrow was cautious. He closed up the dusty hull and locked down the labs as well.

ANDRU stood outside the tech dome watching, his cyclops eye unblinking and unmoving. Slowly the dragon approached him from the shadows, red form growing larger as he returned with ANDRU's debriefed data disk. Arrow tilted the smooth circular object in the light and popped it back into ANDRU's face slot. "Return to your post ANDRU, resume patrol protocol" he said with a nonchalant smile while clapping his android on the back. "You'll find that your programming has been updated as well, you should test it out." And with that ANDRU was gone, just a silver speck in the sky. A smoke trail curled on the ground where the android had once stood. Arrow sat in the dust for a while and yawned, teeth wide to the sky and shining. He slowly rose to his scaly leather feet and took off into the sky as well. No longer a scientist, but a hunter on the prowl.
