Buzz zoomed through the air, grabbing the mug before a group of ravenous undead could get their pussy fingers on it. "To scum, and freedom beyond!" Lightyear played around with the catch phrase as he retracted his wings and lept over, under, and past zombies all vying for his jug of slop.

Eeeeeeeh, run Lightyear run! And he did as fast as his boots could transport him until he was within feet of one enraged demon.

“This is going to hurt you a lot more than it’s going to hurt me,” Buzz was always one for honesty as he unscrewed the cap and PHEW, his senses were ASSAULTED. This was ten times worse pedian slug guano left to cake under two suns!

Plugging his nose with one hand, he splashed the vile contents onto the back of the raging demon, whose head was still ringing in that tub before he jetted on out of there, leaving Hellboy to the will of the deadly masses. He just hoped Liz was strong enough to go through with this.

"Shit," Liz hissed under her breath, seeing the horde of zombies surround Scout. Guess he hadn't thought this through fully before thrusting his entire arm down the Boomer's throat. And she couldn't fully project her fire without risking hurting him as well in the process. With the way he kept dodging, the zombies were having a hard time hitting him, but she ran an even greater risk in hurting him than they did.

Grinding her teeth together, she surrounded her fists with flames and plowed through, punching and pushing back zombies so she could get to Scout. "Get behind me!" she cried, elbowing a zombie in the gut before punching it in the face and setting it aflame. "Don't wanna fry you too!"

But before Scout could even reply, her eye caught something whiz overhead, visible in the darkness only by the light of her fire, and she recognized it as some sort of...grenade?

    Oh, fuck.

This was going to get ugly pretty fast.

"Scout, duck!" She jumped forward and tackled him to the ground as the grenade flew overhead, blasting a large chunk out of the horde, limbs and entrails splaying everywhere.

She struggled back up to her feet. "Eurgh, gross..." she hissed, swatting clots of blood and flesh off of herself. "Where the hell did that come from?"

But she didn't have to wait long to get the answer; Zurg and Xenon had finally made the scene. "Took you two long enough," she said with a smile of relief. "Ready to kick some zombie ass?"

But truth be told... there were no zombies around. It was as if they had all vanished into thin air. The firestarter frowned and looked around. "Where--?"

And then her eyes widened when they fell upon Hellboy--and the horde of zombies that suddenly overwhelmed him, tearing and biting and clawing into him with ravenous hunger.

His heavy bulk crashed into the ground as zombies swarmed all over him, their sharp claws and teeth digging into his tough hide. They couldn't claw through it, his skin was that tough, and even by biting into him they did little damage. But they persisted, and they were many, and though he screamed and thrashed and crushed several of them, more came, attracted by the bile plastered to his skin.

But soon enough, it was proven that though they had the numbers, he had the strength. He lurched to his feet, zombies still climbing and clawing and dangling from him, and he just tore them off of him and crushed them in his hands. Others he flung into broken down walls and others he crushed underfoot, never ceasing in his rampage until, finally, no zombies remained.

He straightened and flexed his arms, tatters of skin hanging from him, his skin drenched with his own blood. He snorted, his breath steaming in the chill night air. Panting, his eyes roved the empty space around him--the almost empty space.

His eyes focused upon the most prominent figure of their midst, and that was none other than Zurg.

With a shriek of rage, spittle and blood flying from his mouth, he charged for the Evil Emperor, thrusting his right fist into his gut and tackling him to the ground, knocking the wind out of him. Wrapping his stone fingers around the prone figure, he lifted him into the air and slammed him against the ground. But still gripping him in his hand, he next flung him into a nearby wall, then hit him back into the ground again, spinning him around and tossing him into the air before finally slamming him into the ground, creating a crater-sized hole with Zurg at the centre.

Satisfied that the first object of his rage had been dealt with, he moved to deal with the second one; and that was none other than Liz.

Liz took a fearful step backward, and then another one, her eyes as wide as saucers. Oh no, she was freezing up again. Why was she freezing up again? Why couldn't she force herself to get the hell out of the way or to defend herself properly against him?

She knew the reason, of course, but she cursed herself for being so weak. It was as if ever since she had come here--no, more like ever since she had realized her feelings for Hellboy--she had started losing her resolve in things, especially in things concerning him.

But right now, if she didn't react soon, he would surely attack her, and she'd probably end up like Zurg--oh God, he was bleeding like hell, was he even alive?--or even worse.

But she couldn't move a muscle, and she cursed the day she'd become so weak.

"Zurg!" Xenon cried out. Just seeing him treated like a rag doll, it so infuriated her, yet if she dared reach out to Zurg, it would draw out Hellboy's attention and wrath as tank zombies were territorial. She would not jeopardize him so, especially in his state of being. And now as Hellboy set his sights on Liz, enough was enough! Her throat was raw, and her limbs shuddered as she knew what she must do--and it wasn't going to be pretty.

Withdrawing her last two Health-no tick from her pack, she allowed the robots to scamper over to the most injured player on the field (Zurg). They were better healers than her by far, and hopefully would cover some of the damage Zurg had felt, for in the next few moments she'd not be able to help anyone, possibly a permanent end.

Just in case, she slipped a holocron warm with memories into the packs of one of the tics, with the added directive of giving it to the emperor.

Decision made, Xenon reflected on her life. It had its trials, but there were sweet moments when they had quiet mornings together, traveled to one crazy deserted island, plotted against Star Command. but it all boiled down to this: what was she willling to live for? What was she willing to die for?

Her friends had no doubt seen folly in her actions, thinking of her as being impulsive, but their ideologies differed. Whereas he lived to survive, she survived to live. And what kind of life is it if all your friends are dyiing around you? "I'm sorry Zurg; you always knew you'd outlive me--just not by this much." For he would survive, she knew he would. The world seldom loses a good villain, and Portal Breach was no different. If it was she was totally going to come back from the afterlife and whoop this places nonexistant backside!

The girl ran between Hellboy and Liz, directly in the line of fire, as that pyrotechnic seemed to be frozen with uncertainty since the start of this whole episode. Liz shouted at her to get out of the way, (no doubt asking if Xenon losing her mind), but she responded, "You have twins! Your children and that of Hellboy's. You need to live for them--get out of here, escape. NOW."

Then she turned towards Hellboy. All the zombies lay in broken heaps around his girth. "Hellboy, if there's any remnant of you in there, this should bring you to," she flung none other than a pancake at the demon. That plan having went up in flames as Hellboy was not brought out of his stupor, she immediately flung six shurikens into his open mouth, hearing the singe of electrocuting metal zap his innards. That had to add tenfold the amount of damage, but he wasn't slayed yet.

Hellboy roared so loudly Xenon winced in pain as she stood a defensive position, her legs slightly wavering, as she prepared for the worst. "Liz, what are you still doing here? Leave! I can't raise your kids for you--I won't be their substitute." Those darlings deserved their real mother, their birth mother.

As for Zurg, he'd get over this all. He's been alone before, he can still have Liz and the twins later, as well as his planet.
He knew this was coming, just not in this particular way. Sure he may never forgive her, but his beating heart--I mean blackhole--would suit her just fine, continuing to bring him future days.

"Write a nice epitaph for me, and don't let Zurg cry--he'd get dehydrated."

    BOOM!

The grenade went off with a tremendous bang and the earth shook and cried out as zombies and rubble went everywhere. Even from their location, blood and guts rained down and the Evil Emperor let out a disgusted scoff as he continued to shield them both from the rotten downpour. After several seconds of chunky rain, the world grew quiet--an eerie quiet--and the Evil Emperor slowly got the courage to peek over the stone with worried, engorged eyes.

There was nothing but smoke and the gradual blue residue of the plasma upon the surroundings--fire and fallen ash....but no one else...

"Oh no...." Zurg muttered, standing a tad higher to better see the mayhem before them. "Oh no! Where are they!?" He panicked, those red eyes of his scrying the land frantically.

    They couldn't have died!

    "Took you two long enough."

A smile cracked Zurg's face for the first time during this entire battle and he found himself looking upwards with a sense of hope as he spot the woman not too far off from their current position. With an eager wave of his hand, he literally almost jumped for joy upon seeing that she was all right--the same for Lightyear and Scoot. The smoke just needed to clear, that was all. He was worrying for nothing!

"Hey! Just leave some for us, you know?" He called out to her with a semi-whisper, a hand cupped over his mouth. They were all right and everything was turning out better than he expected! But not to get ahead of himself, there was still one enraged, infected demon to worry about and that, ironically, was plenty to worry about.

Feeling a bit more confident now, Zurg squeezed Xenon's hand tightly and began to assist her up onto her two feet.

"C'mon!" He whispered to her, his eyes still reflecting evilly due to the fire crackling around them. "We've got one last thing to take care of."

But the universe had a sense of humour, and even though Zurg had learned to take its joke from time to time with the best of strides...Today...would be a joke he would hardly find the resolve to sit back and laugh at--no matter how many decades had passed since then.

There...standing tall within the heart of the blackened plume, loomed Hellboy...and there, he had eyed his bonded and the murder was just evident within those smoldering, amber eyes. The blood that stained his worn, carved teeth seemed to ooze like drool from his dribbling mouth and his haunches lowered as the demon appeared to prepare what looked like a blood-curdling charge; his muscles flexing with ripples and tides.

There was no time, no second to waste, to shout, to yell, to warn; there was hardly any time to breathe at this point.

The world had gone silent, mysteriously silent, as the demon let out a muted roar and the heart rate deep within the Evil Emperor's chest seemed to still and silence itself--he could only tell he was alive save for the throbbing 'thump thump' he felt, and even then, the beats were far and few between.

    No...

He saw Red charge and with a blank mind, the Evil Emperor released Xenon's hand and leaped over his cover; his rocket boots providing extra speed to his bursting steps--click click click click click--his boots went and with fluid, furious fingers, he released his cape and let it clump to the floor with a swirl of ashes; it was only a disadvantage now.

    Liz!

He couldn't shout it, couldn't even utter it from his throat--it had gone dry long ago. The only action he could do as he rushed at the woman was thrust her aside with a quick, firm shove. He had to get her out of the way!

"MOVE, LIZ!" Zurg screamed at her as he returned his attention ahead, the sound of the world returning in that split-moment. The thud of raging hooves reached his horns and no sooner had the Evil Emperor spun around to face his opponent, they were met with a pair of yellow and a blur of red as something unbearably hard and solid came into contact with his abdomen.

At once, his body armour recalibrated itself to match that exact spot to dampen the blow, but the ungodly force was too much and Zurg could hear something crumpling as the plating underneath cracked and shattered. Even his peoples' craft was no match...

And the torment didn't end there. Not even when the first blow drew blood as he watched it escape from his mouth in slow, beautiful arch.

Zurg clung for dear life as the demon next slammed him into the ground, the air within his lungs decompressing with a sharp wheeze as he let out a surprised shout. And again, it didn't end there. He felt the demon wrap those cursed, stone fingers around his robing and the brief sensation of weightlessness settled in before the Evil Emperor was reacquainted with pain as he was banged repeatedly into the ground; each impact more devastating than the last. For several moments, Zurg's world had gone black, only to jolt into reality once more with each new wave of pain. He was forced into a wall, into the ground, tossed around in the air like some rag doll, until finally....

Hellboy thrust the Evil Emperor's barely living body into the ground for the last time, a crater forming in his wake.

    SLAM!

The sky was the only thing he saw as the ashes rained down. He couldn't hear, he couldn't think, he couldn't feel. His legs and arms tingled and the pain slowly began to lessen--like a bad taste--as he just lied there...bleeding and struggling to breathe in shallow, rasps. His fingers and toes twitched and the cooling unit upon his back ceased to whir and provide cooled comfort. His sync suit, no doubt on the fritz, told his battle armour and likewise components that the damage sustained was far too great. Another blow like that, and he would be finished in no time flat. It was bad enough that his armour was cracked and battered in more places than he could shake a grub at.

But...oddly....he didn't have a care in the world as a sense of tranquility washed over him.

So this was what it felt to die...Huh, it's strangely peaceful...Maybe...Maybe I'll just rest my eyes a bit and take...take a nap....

No...No, he wasn't done yet. Not with Red still on the loose and not with people in danger! He didn't care if he was a self-proclaimed villain! He was born a hero and if he was going to die, he was going to go out with a bang! Not as some bitter, hateful old man but as the person he always wanted to be--the person he was always meant to be.

Crying out in unimaginable pain as he turned his body over, Zurg managed to crawl out of his crater with wobbly limbs and rested there, at the rim, to see the battle unfold; silver blood oozing from the many cracks and fissures of his once-pristine teeth. He saw the demon already preparing another enraged charge and this time...and this time....it was at Liz.

"LIZ!" He tried to scream, but thanks to his crushed and battered body, it came out as a dying, sick rasp.

She didn't have his armour! She would be flattened like the cakes Red was so fond of eating! And if that didn't make things worse, he spotted Xenon rushing from the corner of his eye. He knew what she had on the mind and the thought only made him cry out more in pain as he tried to lift up a hand to stop her.

"NO, XENON! COME...come....come back...." He wheezed, pitifully clawing out of his hole.

They were rushing to their deaths and he was powerless to stop them! With a frustrated grunt, he tried to get his legs to work and stand him up, but his actions were futile. He was far too beaten and bruised for combat.

He was useless to get up and help! To fight!

    Or...was he...

If he could grind teeth, he would have. This was NOT how it was supposed to end. It was supposed to end with them quelling the demon and putting him down as quick and painless as possible; not ending up in a bloodbath. This was all going horribly wrong...so, so, so wrong.

Liz had a family to raise, Xenon had a young life to lead, and Scoot....well Scoot was getting bonded soon, and as for Lightyear, he still had Dr. Furbanna and his rookies, right? They all had business to take care of and seeing how he was the last of his kind and already in the negative zone for PR points, it was time he pulled his weight around and did his one good deed that would hopefully make up for some of the wrongs he had shamelessly committed during his disgraced life.

And, if he were to survive, he was going to make it his habit to never reform ever again after this; for, once a villain, always a villain.

But for now, he was going to try his hand at being the hero.

    Move over, Lightyear!

Pressing the insignia upon his mantle with a jab, his sync suit automatically sent a signal to his rocket boots and he was off. With a roar, he flew out of the crater and dove straight into the battlefield. He didn't have a plan--that was Lightyear's department--and he instead cut his ride short, a little behind the demon.

"Kill us, will you...." Zurg growled as his eyes flared up brilliantly. With both hands, he snatched the demon's twitching tail and pulled. This would no doubt make the demon beyond furious, but at this point....the Evil Emperor didn't rightfully care.

"RUN!" He snarled at the two girls, using all his strength to keep the demon in place from crushing them both to their demise. "RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK!"

With a sharp twist, Zurg tugged back even harsher and he dug those heels of his into the ground. It was now or never and seeing as how he might not reach 'never', it looked like it was 'now'! Grunting, he began to shift his weight and after several, tense moments he started to spin the demon around in a slow, lazy arc. It picked up faster, and faster, and faster, and after the first five seconds, the demon was spun around so fast by the tail that it seemed like he was on some wicked carnival ride.

When the demon was going fast enough, the Evil Emperor released him and watched as the demon flew.

    WHAAAAAM!

A great billow of smoke and dust blew forth from where Red landed and the Evil Emperor fell to his knees, his strength all but gone as he panted greedily for air.

But he was not done yet. Ohohoho, not by a blackhole slingshot!

Morphing his right hand into a rapid-fire ion cannon, Zurg raised the wobbly gun and open fired.

He did had time to do anything, nor did he registered what happened, but He felt himself fall to the ground with Liz and then a loud explosion that shrilled into his ears with a loud ringing. Scout closed his eyes to not have any blood infect his eyes, who the hell threw that?

Alex Coughed, the blood as almost washed away all the blue on his shirt; He almost looked like Red scout... He didn't got bit at least, but he did feared some infected blood as gotten into the scratches and beating the horde as did to his arm.

    there was a risk.

The teen got himself up after Liz, huffing loudly. "jeez.." He thought his heart has stopped there; yet again Scout was pretty jumpy. A smile crossed his face as he saw the two. " 'bout time I was wonderin' if you guys would join our party--"

The he turned to the slaughter party, oh no...no.. they had destroyed too much of the horde by getting the bile and no; they weren't going to make it... Alex started to shake at the Demon's rage.. it all happened so fast, everyone couldn't had possibly avoid this from happening.

He was in awe at the girl, she was a one or two year younger then him and she was about to do a kamikaze? Scout sort of admired this; how much care and love this teen was expressing in her action. tough The boy could not tell if it was either insane or courageous coming from her... He was about to do something Silly until The purple Alien stood up....

This can't end bad.... they have worked so hard into this... god... The emperor was in such an awful shape! and despiting that he could still fight?! Scout knew how his armor was heavy... oh yeah, the Closet has spat him out with that armour; The boy had fell face first on the floor and had been stuck there until someone took it off for him.

    "RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK!"

he didn't had to say it Twice, He firmly took both of their arms . "you heard the man, girls, move your freakin' asses" he said, pulling at both Xenon and Liz. Despiting how scrawny The boy was, He did had a quite impressive force in his arms-- well at least enough to make them budge.

    "comon!"

She had lost all resolve, her body trembling in fear and realization, and she just couldn't believe how everything had come down to this, how she had failed to save him from himself like she had promised him, though it was a different kind of self than either one of them could have expected.

Your life really does seem to flash before your eyes right before the end, but for Liz, it was one specific memory that stood out in her mind, crisp and clear as if she were actually reliving it.

Hellboy was sitting in front of the fireplace, staring unseeingly at the crackling flames with a bottle of wine in his lap. The flickers were reflected in his eyes like small sparks of light, illuminating their yellow depths and almost succeeding in masking the deadened look in them. But she knew better. There was no life in his eyes.

"Carolina Red?" Liz asked, settling down on the floor beside him.

He grunted nonchalantly, taking another sip.

He had always preferred wine to beer, the sweet kind of red wine, but she wasn't sure if anyone else was aware of that since they always commented on his perchance for beer. Bruttenholm had been fond of that brand, as well. Maybe that was why Hellboy liked it, and why he never seemed to drink it outside of the Professor's office, still preserved after all these years.

Though it had already been over a decade since Bruttenholm's death, she knew it still hurt Hellboy to think about him. They had drifted apart with the years, and when the Cavendish Expedition had been announced lost, he had been devastated by it, though he had tried not to show it by taking on more assignments. But when Bruttenholm had contacted them ten months later, Hellboy's hopes had risen, and he had gone personally to bring him back... only...

It might have been better for all of them, but especially for Hellboy, if the Professor had not met such an end.

    "Could I take a sip?"

Hellboy blinked once, though didn't turn to look at her or answer. He merely extended the bottle to her, and she took it from him. She brought it to her lips and took a long draught.

"You said you'd take a sip, not drink the entire bottle."

"Ah," Liz smiled and returned the bottle to him. "So you
    can talk."

"Only when I want to." He scowled and finished off the rest of the bottle--she hadn't left him very much, but then again, there hadn't been much to begin with.

She drew her legs up to her chest and rested her chin upon her knees. The silence dragged on between them, while they both stared at the flames, but not at each other. Liz could hear the clock tick away in the background, the only thing that permeated the silence besides the occasional crackling of the fire.

"You can't stay in here forever, you know," she finally murmured. "You have to come out sometime."

He did not reply immediately, only fingered the bottle until he sighed and put it aside. It was a few moments before he finally said, "It's not that easy, Liz."

"You won't know until you try," she insisted.

Another long silence before he whispered, "...I can't."

Liz's mouth tightened. She could feel the pain in his words, but he was doing more harm than good by refusing to talk to anyone about it. He had already been closed up in here for a week now. "Can't... or
won't?" she said, staring at him determinedly.

He turned his head abruptly to stare at her, and his eyes, which had been so lifeless beforehand, suddenly lit up in anger. But he couldn't even bring himself to answer back like he normally would have. The anger dimmed from his eyes, rendering them void, lifeless again. He sighed heavily and shook his head, turning back to the fire.

"Hellboy... please," she whispered, touching his shoulder gently. "I just want to help."

It was as if that one gesture was what managed to break down the barrier between them. His frame suddenly trembled, and a choking gasp escaped from his lips. He covered his face with a hand, his shoulders shaking, trying to hold back the tears, to be strong about it, but Liz knew all too well how hard that was.

She felt her heart break for him, and before she knew it she had drawn him into her arms, laying his head on her lap as she stroked his face and whispered words of comfort in his ears, and he clung to her desperately and sobbed his heart out, crying like he had never cried before. She had never seen him so vulnerable before.

"I don't want to be a monster," he gasped, and before Liz could ask what he meant by that or tell him that he was being ridiculous, he continued, saying, "there's this other side to me, a dangerous side, that sometimes takes over and I just don't remember what happens." It was as if talking it out was like a release to him, the only way he could somehow deal with it. "But there's always the evidence, blood everywhere--" Here, his voice broke, and he swallowed and quickly dried his eyes, but he still held on to her as if his life depended on it. "It's not me, but it
is me, it's the demon inside finally surfacing, and I just don't know what to do. I don't want to--"

She shushed him and pressed a finger to his lips. "You won't," she said strongly. "You're too good for that. Whatever this thing is, you can stop it.
We can stop it. I won't let it happen to you again."

His tremors subsided after a while, but he still held on to her, as if only her presence could chase his inner demons away. How ironic, the way they had switched places like this. Back in the old days, he would be the one comforting her, not the other way around.

"Promise me?" he asked breathlessly after a bit, bringing her back to the present.

She smiled down at him faintly, her fingertips brushing his face with gentle care. "I promise."

But she had failed to keep her promise. She had failed to save him, to save them, their family, their friends, their new life--everything broken, everything shattered, like a thousand pieces strewn in a desert and with no way to pick up the pieces and put them back together again.

And then, suddenly, Xenon was there, springing forth to stand between her and Hellboy like a human shield.

"Xenon, what the hell are you doing? Get out of the way!" she screamed hoarsely.

You have twins! Your children and that of Hellboy's. You need to live for them--get out of here, escape. NOW."

"No!" Liz's body finally unfroze, and she scrambled up to the girl, winding her arms around her and dragging her back. "I'm not leaving you behind!"

"Liz, what are you still doing here? Leave! I can't raise your kids for you--I won't be their substitute."

Xenon was right, Liz knew that, and she didn't want to leave her children behind without a mother... without a father... without their extended family, as broken as they all were.

"You idiot, you're family too! I won't leave any of you behind! Now come on!"

And then Zurg was there, tackling Hellboy, and hope sprung into her chest once more. He was still alive, than goodness. "RUN!" he shouted. "RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK!"

Scout grabbed their arms and began to drag them away too. "You heard the man, girls, move your freakin' asses," he said. "Comon!"

Liz didn't need much urging. Her arm still around Xenon's shoulder, she let Scout lead them away, away from the sounds of the fight ensuing behind them.

And she did not dare look back as she felt the tears threatening to run down her face.

What was this? A puny two-legged creature coming between him and his prey? How pathetic, it wasn't as if she could stop hi--PLAT.

He flinched, momentarily blinded, and skidded to a stop, as something sticky was plastered against the side of his face. He peeled it off and sniffed at it, then made a face of disgust as he flung it away, his eyes focusing upon Xenon again, his nostrils flaring. Oh, the nerve of that pint-sized flea! He would show he--ZAP.

He screamed, blood and spittle and clumps of flesh dropping from his gaping mouth as he felt electricity sizzle and crackle inside of him. He clamped his teeth together, however, and smashed the shurikens into shards. Realizing that he was no longer in pain any more, he swallowed the shards of metal and focused his gaze upon Xenon, his lips curling in rage. But even as he made for her, something suddenly just tugged him backward with a sharp snap!

Enraged, he whipped his head around to see Zurg pulling on his tail. His tail. Its sensitivity had obviously transferred in the demon-to-zombie process, for it pissed him off like there was no tomorrow. And as if Zurg wanted to add insult to injury, he began to swing him around. By the tail still. Around and around and up into the air, soaring, gliding, falling, crashing, into a tumultuous heap of rock and debris and rotten corpses.

Hellboy lay prone for several long moments, dizzy and disoriented. He struggled to stand up, but buckled beneath his weight. He began to cough up copious amounts of blood, clutching at his chest in pain, as a deep, piteous whine rose up like bile in his throat. On his fourth try, he finally managed to stand, but just as he had balanced himself properly he was thrown back and over his feet as Zurg shot at him, sizzling yellow energy balls splicing through him and tearing great big chunks of skin and muscle away.

Pain manifested into anger, and anger manifested into blind rage. With a ferocious scream of fury, he charged at Zurg, arms and legs pounding into the ground and digging up earth and stone, such was the strength and power left in his passing. And though blood oozed from his wounds like fountains, and layer upon layer of skin had been torn to shreds and hung from his form, and even some bone showed through muscle fibre and skin, he still managed to keep moving.

Practically upon Zurg, now, the demon-zombie decided that the first thing to go would be that gun.

He clasped it in his stone fingers and squeezed, crushing it into shrapnel. Wires and metal and silver liquid hung in the air for one precarious moment before falling to the ground and scattering.

Zurg didn't even have a chance to react before Hellboy's stone fingers wrapped around his waist and lifted him up into the air. The demon-zombie grinned ferociously, then squeezed.

Don't look, don't look..just run....... But him being normally curious, He looked over his shoulder looking to the turns of events; The emperor being held by the raging creature... he didn't saw anything else, nor did he wanted to see more; he simply gritted his teeth and held a hiss, focusing on what was in front.

He still had a hold of their arms, only this time he did not sprinted; leaving them all the time they needed to follow.

Scout grew fond of them.. even if he never really showed it, perhaps not so fond of The space ranger or Xenon; reasons were because he did not knew them enough.

Scout tried to dismiss the worst scenario with some good memories friendly talks and moments he had with them all; even if it was a couple of seconds. Scout rarely had respect for someone; but he ended up having it for them

    He caught a glimpse of the firestarter, he felt sorry for them all, it was strange; something he wasn't used to feel. it burnt into his chest and came to squeeze his throat in a uncomfortable way. "...it'll be alright.... it has to be." he shakily whispered to himself; yet talked loud enough for others to hear;

The level of adrenaline in his blood dropped as he passed a door way; He had took refuge into a still intact building and nearly collapsed into the hall's stairs... he had to sit, even if it was 3 seconds; just enough time so his blood stream and his pulse stabilizes with his breathing. The boy took off his cap, sitting to the lowest step and out of breath.

"Let me go!" she struggled against Scout, snatching her hand back. She had already resolved to see this situation through untill the bitter end, and she wasn't going to let anything tear her away from the goal.

And reacting to Liz, she said, "Well Zurg's family too--did you ever think of him? He's out there alone, are we to leave him behind?"

In a stern voice, she said, "Get back to safety, and forget about me. Whatever happens will happen, but I would rather die with honor than flee as a coward." And so she turned back, rushing towards the fray where with wide eyes she witnessed in horror that Hellboy unleashed. It was her turn to give a scream of anguish which turned to one of rage. How dare he hurt someone who took him in; zombie or not, he deserved to go to Hell for this.

With the goal in mind, she ripped out two vibroblades and rushed straight to Hellboy, using what little juice remained to fortify some electrical mechanisms that would be released if Hellboy tried to bite into her armor. Sure it would shock her too, but by that point...she'd best not think about that.

But Hellboy did like fresh meat.

Zurg could see Xenon running towards him, could see the exhaustion from the corner of his eye, could see the pain evident on her face as she witnessed him being crushed like a tin can. Or at least she thought he could--her vision wasn't as good as his.

    "X'rgh!"

She raced onwards, her feet poudning against the pavement as quick as quiksilver--unfortunately Liz grew even faster as worry hastened her systems, and she pulled on the collar, dragging Xenon backwards. She cried, "No, no, let me GO. I won't sit on the sidelines--he needs me!" she broke down crying as Liz wouldn't let her go. Damn it Liz, let her go!

But the woman's iron will wouldn't give way, and so Xenon fell to her knees, tears slipping down her face. She stopped violently shaking, but had the air of a dog beaten while it's down.

    "Don't make him die alone..."

Lightyear came back into the thicket of things, with several zombies still clutching onto his shoulders and wings as he elbowed them off, doing 360 degree twists and corkscrews through the atmosphere to loosen their holds so he could beat them off. That cursed bile got on his suit after Hellboy flicked his tail--how he hated that appendage--and the zombies that weren't going after the demon woun up chasing him, even leaping off buildings to catch him out of the air that he previously thought of as a safe zone.

((this happened before all the zombies were obliterated))

But as he came back to the site of the battle, his eyes went up in amazement after seeing the result of the brutality the emperor faced--a bleeding broken alien that even Buzz could hold no hatred towards despite all his past malicious deeds--he shouldn't be forced to deal with such pain.

If this kind of thing happened to Zurg on a semi-regular basis, no wonder the guy was always trying to destroy the Galactice Alliance! Although in Lightyear's opinion it would have done him much better to take up the mantle for justice, but what can you do.

Not one to be out-heroed, Buzz came to his aid shooting his lasers full blast at Hellboy's weak spots--the tail and the base of his horns--singing that slimy skin until he yowled for help.

"Haha, that's right. No one beats justi---OOOPH," Buzz's speech was cut of short as Red smashed the Right Fist of Doom into his abdomen, causing Lightyear to hurtle backwards. His arc was halted by a brick wall--of all the few walls that remained standing, this just had to be one of them--he fell back on his feet like a cat and shook his limbs, rotating his arms to pop them back into their sockets.

"Ohhh, that was a cheap blow," Buzz was all riled up, ready to get back in the game and save his enemy, but then he saw Zurg's plan unfolding in action as Hellboy's attention was distracted between two targets.

".....Well I'll be Booster's uncle," was all he could say in a hushed tone as the evil emperor ended the struggle.
